Chapter 2: Agree to Disagree?

/

Notice how Juvenile these titles do sound. That is because Ami is the protagonist here. She's a lovable, peppy goof with a yandere side in her alt identity later. Make no mistake. Sun and Air rule her signs, but her new partner is all moon beams and wild wood. Find out!

/

The bullet train was a yes, mainly because the incidents only came at night. Ami looked out the window and grinned. Her companions Kaede, Haru, Aya and Dairenji Iyori – chan.

Or Sama, Ami rolled her eyes.

She chose not to keep too close as Aya stayed by the director's favorite. Her outfit was not as short. More traditional, as well as fit for the spring season. Iyori had also opted in having along her…. servant of a sort. They were not what Ami had been expecting.

/

Saturday was…a character.

They wore the outfit of a butler from some altered time period in Europe. His hair was snow white and his skin was as tan as Raku's old guise in his youth. He had a sharper smile that was both warm and questionable. Almost like Kazuya, Ami reminded herself. (Basing him on characters from twisted wonderland game, white short hair middle eastern descent) Heck, they even had a slight accent that did not sound Japanese. The girl had said that Saturday was a familiar too, like Aya since Iyori was young. She must have studied magic – exorcism, for a very long time.

Saturday was also tan, while Aya was paler too, as her culture confirmed it. She had a long torso yet she stayed beside Iyori while only magi could see her. Her long hair only made her look taller than even Sayumon!

Ami was league's ahead in summoning a certain way, so Haru was in her guise of a middle school student. On this physical plane, they had upheld their contract to guide and protect Ami as her pseudo familiar. Just until she was ready to aaccept her full role as the vassal of the sun goddess..

While Kaede was in her gyaru guise, Ami had dressed comfortably for the trek. They contrast of how and cold was that Kaede tried to show cleavage to get a person's heart to open up to her. That way, she could dissect the soul before Ami ended up in danger, and…gyaru was more westernized. She had to play the delinquent part just right.

She was used to dressing up even before meeting the Titans in that red light district ages ago. ( these new years?) In the time it took to get used the gritty world of Onmyouji life, Ami had an alter disguise of a punk – Gothic teen she'd seen on her charge's favorite series of animation (Fate / stay.)

The outfit was altered so that she didn't look exactly like the characters but most of the people paid no mind. This was Japan after all. "How much longer, Ami – Chan?" Haru wondered while Iyori was being served a large boxed lunch for forty.

"Ah…. a few more hours, you guys getting hungry?"

Iyori was apparently not greedy, not with her status could she afford to be anything but a well to do lady. Iyori quickly set up the meals for everyone as she boasted the skill of a five - star chef to the other teens. Ami bobbed her head and thanked Iyori, who looked irked

" NOW."

Ami sure liked to kill the mood. Iyori put down her chopsticks and never even smiled back.

"You have a plan, question though!" Ami sung out.

"Yes, Ami –

"The location we'll be staying…did you need to bring so many suitcases?"

Iyori turned pink as Saturday explained, allowing the huffy princess to cool off. "We'll be investigating the disappearance of the women who boarded the "murderous" train leading to this station. It is best we have all of our items for the job…." Saturday tried to apologize, yet Iyori huffed and turned towards the window.

/

Aya got up to stretch while Kaede followed close behind.

"Your charge is far too standoffish."

" Your charge is no better. She's sweet, but stupid."

" LOOK." Huffed the kitsune to the wood spirit – hokage. "Ami, like Iyori – Sama, they have to work as a team. So, you and I had better not get ugly on this trip. I mean it." Kaede pointed while Aya's elven ears twitched at a stray sound. "Do you hear it…?"

"What?" The fox's ears reverted to listen, there was…a whispering song?...

"This is it. Get ready to fight."

Both got into a stance, until a door opened from behind Aya. A young man with earbuds on was blasting some rather aggressive sounding music. The two looked silly enough, yet someone now had to erase his memory of Kaede's ears being spotted by a human!

/

The teen with his music actually did ask, "Are those real?"

Thankfully, Kaede pulled a fox trick and made them pop off. He blinked, nodded, then left her alone.

" Zakenna, really?"

Aya giggled as she walked down the hall, still laughing at the little fox's mini mix – up right before they found their seats again. "You should charge a fee, hen stealer."

Kaede scowled the whole way back, until she had to take a nap to cool down, herself. Looks like Iyori had the right plan after all, so the two just closed their eyes for a few more hours.

/

When Kaede and Haru were small and first enlisted by their family's rites to be guardians of the Sun goddess, Kaede recalled a trick she'd learned to let others know if she was unhappy, without showing it. This was an upper class ideal, and Haru was surely used to it. Yet, Kaede hated being so fake. When she stayed with Ami, she wore masks every so often, yet her true face was resourceful and never turned down by the bright eyes half Tamaranean Miko in training. " Dad said that being yourself isn't a crime. Being the real you takes guts. You've got plenty, Kaede – chan. Don't ever let someone turn you into something you're not."

Ever since Haru had been reborn and aged differently in her new form, Kaede noticed how hard it was to connect. ( Chaos round arc) All of those memories before the deity of blame had decided to harm her….send all of their bonding energy back in time. To Haru, masks made the world safer for some reasons she could not explain if she tried. Like this spirit they were supposed to banish. What kind of face would it take on, or what about Aya's past serving the Dairenji household? Or Saturday, who looked kind and good yet might have been a viper in a past life by his energy…

/

The group exited the train car as the station's last stop had showed in three hours more in time. Iyori fanned herself from the air change while Ami made sure to use a spell to weight down her skirt this time. Not like the entrance ceremony. They could have called her a witch by the color of those bloomers!

(AMI IS A POP CULTURE - FAN GIRL, PRETTY STEREOTYPICAL.)

"AH!" Haru rolled her neck and groaned loudly with a stretch. "We are…still here!"

"Is your young friend alright?" Saturday asked Ami, as she gave the other spirit a funny grin. "She's adjusting. Mostly…. heh…" Ami nervously chuckled. Aya looked out at the spacious skies and gave the area a sniff. "There is…no distress here that can be sensed."

"Does ONLY AT NIGHT mean anything to you??" Seethed Kaede as Aya ignored her to rejoin Saturday and Iyori. "The inn is not far from this station. We'll be waiting for a…" Iyori's eye twitched as she looked at the text on her phone. "SATURDAY! SOME… ASSISTANCE, IF YOU WOULD…. PLEASE."

/

Ami watched with a gasp as the Saturday they knew was transformed - but unseen to anyone else, he looked incredibly familiar…

"A…. JINNI !?" Ami gawked as the wish granted smiled with his eyes painted by a little eye liner to make then razor sharp. "~ What is your wish, my lady.~

Iyori looked positively ruined in the sun as Aya got out the girl's luggage and umbrella. "Right now, the bus will be in need of maintenance, we must arrive promptly. You shall conjure up something useful to bring us to the allotted meeting place."

The Jinni clapped his hands together in understanding and in a poof of smoke, a car appeared with the driver inside to take them all to the inn. "I have a little brother who can do that too."

~ Oh? ~ Saturday perked up his moon bow ears in interest. ~ He is like, myself then? ~

"YES! Raku was a half jinni who almost covered I world in darkness – but don't worry about that! He's a lot sweeter at five- foot tall than at six - ten!"

Saturday looked perplexed the whole way, yet Kaede knew that was a bad move. "Ami…you, shouldn't go talking about the boy creator -god like that to others."

"He's a God, now??"

" QUIET, SATURDAY!"

Iyori watched Saturday suddenly seem more pleasant, yet she was also starting to wonder about another Jinni even stronger than heroine servant.

In Tokyo currently, Hisao was going after calls of car thefts, loitering and a few bomb threats that were done by a series of crazy teens and or, suicidal and introverted adults. Sun Woo stepped into the precinct with a catch of breath and another phone call in his hand.

"They…want to talk to you, sir."

After a few nods, the click of the phone, set onto his desk, Hisao ran a hand through his dark hair and sighed. "Company is showing the next day or so. They are interested in the surge of cases being connected to, something not….normally, here."

Sun Woo threw up his arms and paced the floor. "Are we going back to feudal time of crisis? This is not a " Manhua "where there is an explanation for everything! Take me off this case, I can't-

"As long as you have that badge, officer." Barked Sun Woo's superior," there is no way what you know from the academy is going to help you in the land of the goddess. You understand cultures with the idea that other worlds do exist, don't you? From Kore –

"Seoul never tried to make it public before. Of all the- are the higher ups allowing this??"

Hisao nodded, leaning into his seat, wearily. "Yes, and I agree despite not wanting to tell you. I know, a certain person who can let you realize what we may be dealing with."

"That's right, Hisao – san." From the front entrance, in walked a light-haired beautiful man with grey silver eyes and a frame of someone who had never worked a day in his life. He wore a strange white coat and black pants; his shoes being pressed as his feet tapped over to where Sun Woo was still stammering.

"You…you…. you –

Kazuya's ears twitched as Hisao groaned and turned his head to slick pretender. "Kazuya, meet my partner. Sun Woo, meet Kazuya, the god of the harvest. Inari – dono."

/

"Hi!"

The flighty looking adult was so used to people, while Sun Woo was still new to this environment. "You…you have to be joking, right?" Scoffed the blue faced officer. "You, have ears-

"IS THAT A TAIL TOO ???"

Sputtering out sounds that made next to no sense, Inari or Kazuya shrugged. He handed over from his long coat a folder documenting the incidents of the" midnight rail murders."

"We have two active exorcists currently scouring the area in Kobe." Kazuya looked at his wrist watch and seemed discouraged by having to go so soon. The new detective was fun to make so red in the face over his appearance. "I must report my findings to my own group members, though you know how to call me. Should, another body turn up by tonight..."

"Q…question!" Sun Woo gulped and held the file as Hisao remained the calmest out of them all. "WHO….is the pair we'll be meeting working on these cases?? I was told by Detective Hisao here that we would meet face to face."

"Is that right." Kazuya hummed in thought before the fox gave such a harmless glance their way. Hisao sensed other later predictions to be in order by tonight. That was just how Kazuya made his mask stick.

"Well, if you do have a chance, tell the other youkai you see then to remember that nighttime frolicking is strictly prohibited within MY territory." The fox…was that a threat??

Sun Woo was still shivering, while Hisao scoffed at the kitsune god's mockery of his precinct. "We've got this covered," The senior detective gruffly replied. "Thanks, as always for the information."

"Oh, don't be such a bad host, Hisao – kun." Smirked the trickster dog. "Even I see right through what you think of this case…good luck, to you too, Mr. newbie!"

The man walked off while the room continued as normal. "Does…." Sun Woo loosened his tie a bit. "Does he work as an informant for the station? Or on the force?"

"This is his home too." Hisao explained as he laid out the photos of the bodies found by the tracks, and ones that had not been found were still a problem. "Whatever this threat is, it's selectively throwing out and keeping what it finds, as if it's alive and feeding."

"Don't SAY such awful things like that, Hisao -San!" Sun Woo shook his head. "There are gods and evil things, but in worlds saner than what I just saw in this one…. I might have to disagree. Spirits….in Tokyo?" Sun Woo put the file to his chest and imagined the stories he'd grown up with about ogres and flying warriors.

"A long, long time. Remember that incident a few years back? Well, the person we are greeting for this case will be there. You'll get to meet the very person that partly allowed Gods, spirits and humans to see each other. Just be patient like Kaz -san said." The older detective reassured with a mutter under his chin... "You'll see this all start to play out."
