Inside Out 2 was a great sequel to Inside Out. If you were worried about Inside Out 2 when it was first announced, don't worry. The sequel stays true to the Inside Out universe. The first one might be a tad more funnier and emotional than this one, but this film was still a delight to watch. But this one was emotional too. It's Pixar and about emotions, so duh, it would be too. Joy says a couple things that are so relatable. You need to see the movie to get what I mean. And oh yeah, stay until after credits for a special something because I'm sure as heck not telling you. You have to see for yourself!
Riley has her original emotionals from the first film, Anger, Disgust, Joy, Sadness and Fear. But now that Riley's 13, she had new emotions now. There's Anxiety, Embarrassment, Envy, and Ennui (French for boredom). There's also Nostalgia, but she's not there as much since Riley doesn't need her for another decade.
Riley goes to a weekend hockey camp with her friends before high school. And because Riley's growing up, Anxiety takes over and gets her original emotions taken away. Now, Joy and the others have to get back and stop Anxiety and set things right.
So, if you liked the first Inside Out, you will like this film just as well. Instead of seeing through the mind of an 11-year-old girl, now you get to see it through the same mind only this time as a teenager. It might take you to a time when you were 13, and remember what it was like.
Pixar stated that it'll produce more sequels in the future. But don't worry, the studio will do originals too, like the upcoming Elio, but get ready for more sequels. It's a little worrisome that they'll be doing this and a shame for not giving originally a chance, but at least it's better than what Disney is doing with their bland and soulless live-action remakes. And if the sequels are like Inside Out 2, we'll gladly welcome them, as well as Inside Out 3, but please Pixar, don't forget originality.
