DISCLAIMER I DO NOT OWN AIKATSU NOR THE SONGS USED

The entire auditorium was filled completely to the brim. Everyone bouncing in their seats as the stage screen counted down to the start. Even those not in person watched the live broadcast as attentively as they could. Soon they were awarded for their patience when the lights above the seats dimmed.

"Five!" Glow sticks and cheers raising as the timer counted down the last few seconds.

"Four!" Everyone behind the stage rushed around to ensure that everything was prepped.

"Three!" Over a thousand posts were spread on various social medias to remind people to sign on.

"Two!" Among the performers, there was only silence. A mix of nerves and excitement in all of them.

"One!" Screams erupted out of everyone watching. White smoke started to cover the stage reflecting the strobe lights running wild.

"Hey hey hey! How is everyone doing today?!" A part of the center stage started to raise today's host from the ground. His voice being unmistakable. Before the lift was even done rising, he jumped off to greet everyone with a stylish pose.

"Bepp-sensei!"

"Johnny Bepp we love you!"

"He's here!"

"We've been waiting!" He nodded along as he gestured for them all to settle a bit so he could start.

"Good good. It sounds like you're all ready for today. So let me greet you all properly as you've done for me and my students. Welcome to this year's Starlight Academy Royalty cup!" At his cue, canons shot up into the air, lighting up the sky with small fireworks.

"We have 20 of our top idols waiting to greet you all with a performance they worked very hard to win them the spot of Starlight's top idol. But this year not only will we be crowning our Starlight Queen, we will also be crowning our very first Starlight King!"

Idols were ordered based on their ranking prior to the event from lowest to highest. Of course with the queen Char going last. Each of their times were structured into the same two parts. Firstly, the audience would be shown a pre-recorded interview session to give them a sense of the idol's character and the work put into their stage today. From outfit to stage choice, the contestants were allowed to plan everything out to their heart's content. Then came the main part that everyone was waiting for; the performance.

At the very end of it all, Starlight's new royalty pair will be revealed to the world.

"I'm sure that everyone is wanting to start right away but first, most importantly, we need to hear the wise words of our headmistress. Please everyone welcome Kiriya Aoi-honey!"

Bepp stepped to the side, gesturing for their headmistress to take the stage. It was still a bit unfamiliar for Aoi to stand on the stage in her position and not be an idol. It felt like just yesterday that she was one of the competitors. But it was her role this time to pass along the tradition to the newest generation.

"Thank you for such a warm welcome everyone. As many of you know, this will be my first time standing here as the headmistress for the Royalty cup. I would be lying if I wasn't a bit nervous. However, I am confident in my students to present a performance that will get everyone's hearts racing. Though only two will get crowned today, everyone's a winner for all the hard work they've put in to stand here proudly today. Even those that aren't, each one of them is an idol that I'm proud to help nurture each day. They are all something special so please treat them well, today, tomorrow and wherever they land in the future."

Her words lifted some of the weight from the competitors' shoulders. Today would be the day to show off how much they've grown in the year. More than anything, they could show off all the talents they've worked to polish each day. With an event so big, many eyes were on them. They had already come so far to make it into the top 20. Now they could proudly show why they deserved their spots and go after the title that they've been chasing since the start.

Starlight King and Queen. Though they all respected Char as their queen, it didn't mean that any of them were going to hold back. This Royalty cup was going to be one for the books.

*Labyrinth by Isumi Haruka of ZOOL

This boy needed no introduction. He had been a staple in the new generation's fashion, and now with Aikatsu he became the face of boys within the entertainment industry. It was no surprise that he managed to become one of the top 20 to compete today as no one nowadays could walk anywhere without seeing his face plastered. "Introducing Ceasire, 'Snapshot', Hayate!"

Out of all of the contestants shown so far, Hayate was clearly the calmest. He knew how to keep his composure as he sat in the lounge chair with a camera facing him. Inside he may be screaming, but if it came up to maintaining his appearance in front of a camera, no one could beat him in having every part of his appearance mastered.

That was only amplified with the show of City Lights' first ever premium rare coord, Poisonous Nights. The black and white coat had two sides that split down the shoulder rather than down the middle. On the left side appeared almost military like with the shoulder epaulets but short sleeves.

Very strange for City Lights that typically took on a lax type of style. However, the center section gave off a dangerous feeling that matched the theme and gave an interesting contrast to the simple right side. The small white ruffles filling the space below the collar and to his side. The only thing to actually label as the right side of the coord being Hayate's bare arm minus the armband with a large rose popping out.

His loose black pants having metal jewel shapes lined perfectly to give the image of added height. Even the gray belt with metal hanging clamps was comparably skinny to a normal belt to not restrict any movement. Though at first glance the outfit was a bold statement from the designer to go against everything the brand set up to be, that couldn't be further from the truth.

The moment that Hayate had put it on, he felt the designer's feelings. It was showing the unpredictability of the night and the comfort of being in the new. Fabric that was breathable despite how much it exposed and covered up. The simple monotone colour scheme that had been used so many times ago but never falling from being in style. This was Hayate being the new while never once changing his core. He couldn't have gotten a better brand to follow.

"So," the interviewer started off behind the cameras, "child prodigy model and now in your first year here at Starlight you have already made the top 20. How's this year been for you?"

"It's definitely been a big change. I came into Aikatsu thinking that I would be able to slide right in. I highly underestimated not only the profession but the people that I was matched up with. On my debut day I learned just how much I had to catch up."

"Well I have to say that, and many agree with me, that this generation has been one surprise after the other. Its even crazy enough that someone of your caliber finds it hard to adapt. It's admirable that you still maintain despite feeling this way."

"As much as my friends are my biggest obstacles, they are also my biggest supporters. I've only grown because of their crazy high levels of expectations of me. Though their form of love can be very tough at times." He could only laugh to himself at how they drilled so much training into him. In hindsight, it was very helpful that he could have access to their knowledge. At the moment, however, their training was impossible.

"How would you say that you've grown in this year then? Are you more or less inclined to one profession over the other now that you've experienced both?"

He shook his head. "No, I don't really think so. See that's the thing about Aikatsu. It's everywhere. There is no one way to do things. And just because I excel in one thing doesn't mean that I fail in others. I have my skills that no one has. I learned that just recently."

"Okay let's hear it out. What makes you think that you'll win today?"

For a moment, Hayate did doubt if he could win. He knew just as well as anyone that the person to beat to become king was nearly untouchable. But if Hayate acknowledged that, then it would result in an automatic loss. As long as he kept trying, he had a chance to overthrow his friends of their rankings.

"Compared to many of those competing, I have the longest standing fan base. And I have confidence in my fans, new or old, to continue to support me. And I will meet those expectations with everything I have."

The interviewer thought about it for a bit. Out of every single competitor, Hayate had the longest standing. Fans were easy to come by if he was popular but to stay by him this entire time was a feat that allowed him to stay this high in rankings. It was, also, a say on his character where thousands of people properly voted for him because of his history. At the end of the day, the Royalty Cup was based off of a voting system.

"An interesting yet very true statement. Then I imagine that your preparations are not limited to solely your outfit. Will you tell us about your song choice?"

"I would be honoured. To be honest I chose something that would be a bit out of my league." He fondly smiled. "During my debut I unknowingly did the same. A song that was so rock heavy and out of my comfort that I was immediately called out for it. At the time I just thought that I needed to make a scene to put my new image out there. I didn't think how it would be for someone to listen to my poor stage. I gave my fans a selfish stage that let even myself down."

"Then this time will be different?"

He proudly held a fist to his chest as if dedicating it. "My resolve since the start of my career has never once changed. I want to be the center of attention. I will do that in my own way that I choose even with people doubting my skills. It's been a year since that stage. I'll show you how much I can change while still being the same person that people have chosen to support all this time."

His aura had never shined so brightly. The flashing lights made it appear as if the interview was being filmed in front of a live audience. His mirrors showing every part of him. He was more than ready to stand on that stage and show everyone that this was his Aikatsu.

*Idol Declaration by mona

Shaking the idol world at it's core. No one could predict that this idol would have as big of a splash that she did. Her love towards Aikatsu showed in every action that people supported her finally making the debut she longed for years for. Though many feared her at the start, now they couldn't help but fear how they couldn't take their eyes off of her. "Introducing Takahashi Charlotte!"

The interviewer froze, staring down at their notes. Even though they had known about Charlotte's eyes, it didn't prep them for how cold it actually felt to be in her presence. Same with the rest of the camera crew. They took a deep breath hearing her sit down in front of the camera.

"Hello. I'll be in your care today."

The interviewer slowly raised their head at her voice. It was deeper than Char's but still had that lightness to it. Stable and clear. "Your voice is beautiful."

They both blushed at the sudden comment. "Oh um thank you. I was a bit worried about my throat's condition today because of how much we've been training but I'm glad it still stands."

The next thing to fill the interviewer's mind was Charlotte's outfit. Different from Angely Sugar's angel theme and even Charlotte's bird theme, this dress had a butterfly motif. The Monarch Papillion Coord had purple and white wings placed one over the other to make up the skirt. The thick ribbons covered in flowers flowing behind her surely when dancing would give more eye catching movement. The main jewelled butterfly core on her corset appeared as if she was one herself.

"Taking care of yourself is just one part of being an idol that I think everyone can agree is key. It's good to see that you're in a good condition. Does that mean that we can expect one of your best performances today?" Almost naturally, the fear of being in Charlotte's presence had dissipated. In front of them was an idol ready to give her all. What kind of interviewer would they be if they didn't meet her halfway to properly make her shine?

"Yes! I will try my best. Though saying that doesn't really get rid of all the nerves."

"That's understandable. I don't think there was a single person I interviewed yet that wasn't nervous even if they hid it well. You, however, are in an interesting position. Debuting half way through the year and through a collaborative stage at Starlight's anniversary, I don't think anyone has made that big of a splash debut in a long time. Your popularity boosts up tremendously with each appearance and I think that's something worth praising. I have to wonder how your journey has been so far and what your goal is as an idol."

Charlotte started to relax. "I have to admit, the nerves I had at my debut were way worse than what I feel today. When you first get into Aikatsu, it's all about taking the first step. Then the next. Step by step until you eventually learn to walk. Each step I took, each day since I dedicated myself to Aikatsu, I doubted myself. But through becoming an idol, I learned to love them even more. When I doubted myself it was other idols that supported me. And I hope that one day, that I can be the same for someone else. That's the kind of idol I want to be."

"Well I can say that your efforts are paying off. Only someone that truly loves Aikatsu can continue even through the toughest of times. From your outfit to your beautifully trained voice, your fans that gave you the opportunity to perform today cannot wait to see what you have readied for them today."

"And I thank them for that. That's why ultimately I feel somewhat ready to go on stage today."

"Shall we cut this interview short and allow you to head out then?" The interviewer said in a clear joking voice.

Charlotte rapidly shook her hands in disagreement. She really was a cute idol with such a reaction. "Uh, maybe a few more questions would be nice? It would be rude to leave you so short."

"Thank you for the consideration. How about just two more? With such a lovely voice, what song have you prepared?"

"Today I have chosen Idol Declaration. The lyrics are a bit embarrassing to say out loud but they match well with myself and what I want to tell people watching me. Saying stuff like 'please support me, that I will try my best, that I want to win over other idols', those are my feelings every time I push myself out there. And I hope that people understand that. If they don't then I will spell it out for them."

"Coming from someone that is a fan of idols herself, I think that many will understand your feelings. Then I'll bring us to our last question of the interview. Do you think that you can be queen today?"

Charlotte met with the interviewer's eyes that didn't back down once since hearing her first speak. It was a high hurdle that needed to be bet today. Of course many were looking to compare Charlotte to Char today. That wasn't going to change regardless of who wins today. The only thing to do now was enjoy the chance to perform as close as they could ever get.

"As we all know, this year's queen is someone not to be messed with. But neither is anyone else that dared to challenge her. Do I think that I can overthrow her today? I wouldn't be sitting here if I wasn't ready to at least try."

The interviewer caught a chuckle before it escaped their lips. It had to be at the very end that Charlotte became the most confident in her answers. A shame that this interview couldn't have gone on longer. Though it was going to be just as interesting to see that kind of attitude on stage with no restrictions. With the end of this interview, Charlotte took another step in her career to stand on the Royalty cup stage for the first, but not last, time.

*Aoi Canaria by Shioriko Mifune

An idol like no other. Many say that it was due to her blood that they shouldn't have been surprised by her impact. Others say that it was because of her knowledge and pure intentions that no one could predict what her next move would be. Nothing better described her than a genius wildcard. "Introducing Suzukawa Momo!"

No one could take their eyes off her outfit. It had been long since Once More's designer, Asuka, had allowed anyone to even look at her works. Now her newest premium rare, Take Flight coord, was under the watchful eye of over a thousand people. Despite not being in the industry for so long, the designer didn't lose her touch. Suzukawa Momo, the girl that was known for being dressed in a variety shades of blue and gray was dressed mainly in white and green. Only those that were big fans of her knew that those colours had a significant meaning to her.

A rounded white corset held together by the threads held by golden bird accents on the sides. One arm she had a fake sleeve of white lace. The other arm having another fake sleeves that matched the rest of her dress. The green plaid dress fanning out in the back that the hems being covered in feathers made her appear to almost take flight. Add on her knee high boots with multiple belts at the top still kept that rough, cool look that she always represented.

Finally, though not a part of the Take Flight coord, it made everyone's mouths drop open at how beautifully it fitted into the entire look. On top of it all was Hoshim- no Suzukawa Momo's first display of owning the Starlight Tiara. The heavily bejewelled headpiece went well with the gold coloured metals throughout the dress and giving some more colour without taking any attention from the main portion. A single moment into her interview and everyone was speechless at how easily she planned them into her hands.

"Oh um forgive me, Suzukawa-san, is that the Starlight Tiara I spot?"

She nodded. "Indeed it is. Though I was very hesitant to bring it out today."

"Because of what it might be implying in terms of your image?" She mentally thanked the interviewer for not explicating saying that it would automatically link her to her mom. Though she hoped that that wouldn't be the case, it was always going to be expected that people would think that she would take advantage of her parent's image to win.

"That and in the past I had lost this card due to my own careless mistakes."

"Lost it? The card? Well that sounds like a story to tell."

"It truly is but in the moment I lived in constant consternation. I anathematized myself and convinced myself that everyone else was the same." Somewhere in Dream academy, the Inous sisters watched her hold her head low. Only to raise it back up in a second. "But it was at this time that I realized what was most important for an idol. It was in the kindness my parents showed me. The help that Shouta-kun had given me in his own way. Fumiko taking on the blunt people crowding around us during that time. Char-senpai, Charlotte and Snapshot taking the reins during meetings when all eyes were on me. It was because of them that I grew so much since then."

"Then can I ask how you managed to find it?" Her hand lightly touched the tiara.

"I was told that this wasn't the first time that it went missing from Aikatsu. You know Aikatsu can be brutal in a lot of ways but even those that you didn't get along with at the beginning can be your greatest allies at times. The unit SELF are quite the pair with their words never meaning what they want. Even the independent idol, Karasuma Yuki, had given me my fair share of troubles in his own caring way. My harshest critiquers finally grew fond of me and I want to say that this tiara has a mind of its own. That I got it back because I was someone ready to wear it."

"It seems that even for a genius with training from a young age with amazing cards had it tough. I think that anyone that knows of your rollercoaster idol history could see the struggles that you went through. How was it though? Your Aikatsu?"

It was a regular instruction to look at the interviewer rather than directly into the camera. This was mainly because it was easier to answer and there were multiple cameras that moving the idols head every frame change wasn't practical. For this answer Momo felt that it was only right to direct it to everyone supporting her.

"I think I now know who I am. And that's because of Aikatsu."

"And who is that?"

She appeared to think about it for a moment. "I suppose you'll have to watch my stage to get that answer."

Amusement filled the crowd. They liked the confidence and mystery aspect of her answer. Momo never was one to be obvious with her intentions. They just needed to keep their eyes on her to get a glimpse into her mind.

Not seen on camera, the interviewer grinned with anticipation. There was something in her answer that the other contestants didn't show during their interviews. Momo didn't fully believe that she was going to win today. That didn't mean that she was losing confidence in her skills. She had a goal for performing today. And the only way to find out truly what she meant by her words was just to watch her.

"Now we just have to see your performance so I wish you luck."

"Thank you and thank you for having me."

The audience that was just screaming one second ago slowly fell silent once she took the center stage. Momo held one hand on her chest, the other behind her back, as she bowed to those watching her. Bowing so deeply on stage was a show of gratitude typically done after the performance. To see it before quietly told the audience that she was grateful to be here. Coming from someone like her made everyone grow warm inside.

Though many have learned the difference between her and her mom, it never fails to surprise them that they often forgotten the blood between them. She was so different from Ichigo that was so loud and expressive. But in her own, they felt her love. The performance that they were about to witness was one that she would dedicate everything to.

*My World, Your World by Suminomiya Aoi (CV: KENN)

The highest ranking boy idol turn was up. Since his first audition he hardly ever wavered in ranking, always remaining within the top 10. His love of music spoke louder in his works but that didn't diminish how powerful he was when he wanted to be. There was a reason why the most prominent names were attracted to him. With the ability to be true to everyone that gives him a silver of attention, no one could ever say that he wasn't talented. "Introducing Higawari Shouta!"

He squeezed his hands tightly on his knees. "G-good afternoon."

"Yes, good afternoon to you as well. I have to say that it is an honour to be meeting you. Are you aware that you have the highest male ranking at this point?"

"Y-yes. Though it does add a lot of pressure on my performance, I hope that I don't make people disappointed."

"I'm sure that won't be the case. You wouldn't be at the top if you couldn't meet such expectations. Would it be wrong to assume that part of your preparations for today include writing a song?"

"I, yeah, I wrote a song for today. Actually it's a pretty recent one too. I wasn't planning on writing one but after speaking with WM I realized just how much my world has changed. I don't know, inspiration just hits me sometimes."

"WM? As in Kanzaki Mizuki and Natsuki Mikuru's duo unit? That WM? That's some amazing preparation you have."

"Trust me I was even more surprised than you were. The moment I realized who they were I could have passed out from how fast my heart was racing. Even looking back at it makes me nervous. Ohh they said that they would watch the Royalty cup, I really hope they don't take back every nice thing they said." He sighed.

"To hear compliments from WM just proves that you're worthy of the position you're in right now. But I think I speak for everyone when I ask about what kind of advice they gave you that sparked you to create a song good enough to perform today?"

"You know- I - I know people are looking at me like I'm some super idol because the current rankings show that I'm at the top for boys but- and I don't mean this in a condescending way- but I genuinely think that there are many idols that beat me out. Everyday at Starlight I have teachers and friends that always know where I can improve. Each day there's someone that's different from me. There's always someone that will take my hand into a new world. There's even some that learn from stepping away from the scene. What WM showed me is that."

"What a beautiful message. Now that I think about it, your outfit resembles as if you're going on an adventure."

He slightly moved forward on his seat to show off a bit more of the outfit. "Yes. Hidden Story's top designer, Hotaru-san knew in advance what my song was like and designed it around that. And though it has a lot of moving parts, it's incredibly easy to move in."

Hidden Story's World Pieces was a high collared, light brown and yellow coat covered in belts almost jingled with his movement. The gray t-shirt underneath making the coat's colour pop out even more. Not only on the coat but there was an even larger belt with pouches hanging loosely around his waist.

Shouta wasn't kidding when he said that there were a lot of moving parts to this coord. Hotaru was quick to show Shouta how each part could easily be removed of all the extra detail and add on if needed. They had even offered to give Shouta some accessories to hang off the belts or bring some dazzle to them. Most being turned down as it was more his style to be simple.

It was still fascinating to note though. It matched his theme of a traveller that was prepared for anything. Whether it be carrying a whole suitcase or nothing at all. Both being capable with the base being lightweight and sturdy enough not to change shape with exaggerated movements.

"It sounds like you've planned such a beautiful stage. Before we end this interview I always had this question floating at the back of my mind about yourself. If I can ask it now?"

"I'll be happy to hear you out."

"An outfit that matches not only your self-written song but a message that you want to deliver to your fans. Connections like WM and the Star Couple. Literally being the highest ranked boy idol in his debut year. You have an comendarable reputation. Why aren't you more confident in your abilites?"

He awkwardly chuckled at their kind words. "Because I still don't know how to take a compliment well besides just responding with a thank you. And you know what else? I'm still new to being an idol. Those names that you mentioned are idols that are written about in books as legends. I'm just a rookie in my first year. With the Royalty Cup happening, I want to cherish my last moments as a first year with my friends as just that. A rookie still getting used to the beginning of their long term Aikatsu."

That was one out of the many lessons that he learned from his friends. They were making mistakes left and right and learning from each one of them. Trying out everything that they could until something stuck. He and his friends were so young. While they could be the top idols, they shouldn't have to worry about being compared to legends. Idols or not, the main thing on their minds was to enjoy it the way they could.

The interviewer silently applauded him. While all those that they interviewed today were ready to get out there, they looked at Shouta like he was at peace for where he currently was. He was in no rush to say anything besides that he was here.

"Then I won't keep you here any longer. Thank you for your time today Shouta."

"Thank you for your questions." All those assisting in the filming kept their eyes on him as he left. Within the few minutes of the interview they all changed their view of him being the nervous kid to this confident idol.

The moment Shouta stepped out of the Aikatsu changing system, people were in awe of his idol aura flooding the arena. That was one of the key points since his very first audition. His honesty and love was constantly showing when he was on stage. Today even more so. He was absolutely terrified. Don't get it wrong, he was shaking in his boots. Yet wearing his World Pieces and having so many people cheer for him, he felt that usual courage to show off exactly why he earned the right to stand in front of them today.

*CLEAR by Maaya Sakamoto

Nerves struck an all time high knowing that the best bet at overthrowing the queen's throne had hit her rough patch. Only to come back even stronger than ever. Her emotions being called contagious would be an understatement. If she was happy then everyone was happy. If she was trying her best, then so will those watching. A connection to an audience that ran deep was something that only be created with the trust of both sides. It was envious that someone could be so open. "Introducing Watanabe Fumiko!"

The room completely changed after hearing her take the first step inside. Where they expected Fumiko to be bubbling with energy, they were met with the confidence of the girl that was more than ready to stand on that stage. All the attention went to her, making them hold their breath with anticipation.

"Hey nice to meet you, I'll be in your care today!" When she sat down and smiled, the room shifted once more. A smile came on everyone's face seeing hers. It was instantaneous the way that she controlled the emotions within the room and those watching. It was without a question that she wasn't even aware of her power. If the day came that she realized it, she could easily be on par with Char's ability to read the room and adapt on the spot. The interviewer supposed that's why people were keeping a close eye on her.

"It's an honour to be interviewing you today as well. It seems like you're in a good mood."

"I am! Surprisingly though I slept like a baby throughout the night. Maybe I have my roommate to thank for that as she worked me to the bone for the past week and then read me the boringest research study that she found last night. I have her and all my friends to thank for me being able to be here today in as good a mood as I am now. And for the past year as well."

"This past year has been a lot to handle. The sudden change from normalcy to Aikatsu takes every first year by surprise. This year having one of the highest count of first years to attend the Royalty cup. You, yourself, being incredibly high in rankings prior to today."

"That always makes me a bit proud. When I first started, I was just as lost as anyone else. People say that's a good point though. To be so lost that it's easy to restart again and not be tied down."

"You do have the title of Restarting Gamer. Your coord represents such. Though this style is still very much Retro Clover's more vintage and colourful pop rather than other brands like Futuring Girl and Dance Fusion. Can I ask why you chose to wear this brand today?"

Fumiko didn't need to look at her outfit to know what it looked like. She had practically burned each detail into her mind the moment she got it. Retro Clover's GG Prologue. True to Retro Clover's usual colour scheme, it stuck to the shades of orange, green and brown, this time including purple and red for the wearer.

Taking inspiration from Fumiko's idol aura. The skirt had a variety of stick figures along the bottom that when dancing would resemble running. At the top of the rounded neck rested a necklace accessory that spelled out 'START'. Underneath that was a yellow brick road that trailed throughout the dress. Along the way would be game-like symbols as if going through a game play.

All while staying true to the brand's art style in drawing such as changing the usual triangle, square and circle buttons to a clover, daisy and lollipop. Overall creating a dress set in the 70's pop era with a modern gaming twist.

"You're right that if I wanted to play more to my title I should have gone with a cool type brand. But when it comes down to it, I'm not a cool type idol. I can have my moments but today is not for me to put on an act that fits a theme. Today's theme is me. It's everyone that is performing and everyone watching. When I was going through possible brands to wear, I remembered how I felt the first time wearing Retro Clover's coords. I was more than thrilled when the top designer agreed to make something for me and then making it in this image was a complete shocker."

The interviewer couldn't hold back the smile hearing her talk about her experience. It was endearing especially knowing all the strife that she had gone through. Through it all, she continued her Aikatsu with such a bright, pure smile. "I can only imagine that the top designer is only just as pleased to see you praise it so highly. Does that also mean that your song choice is playing into the gamer theme? No pun intended."

"Nope! I never was one to think so much into things. I'm the type that just wants to rush into things. Throw my 100 percent at every chance I get. The song I'm performing today is CLEAR. A song that I've listened to a thousand times before I even became an idol. This may be a bit off topic but can I ask you a question?"

"Me? Um sure, go ahead." The interviewer looked around the room with a bit of confusion but was still intrigued on what she would ask.

"You've been interviewing idols all day. You probably asked them what made them want to be an idol. But what made you want to be an interviewer?"

They thought about it and why she would want to ask this question during her own time. "I guess its because I'm someone that loves to ask questions. I love learning about other people and seeing their varying thoughts on the same topic. Today being an example. I can ask 20 different idols their reason for being an idol and get 20 very different answers. There's even a chance that if I asked the same 20 again on a different day, I'll get another 20 different answer. Every interview I do brings something new. But why the sudden interest?"

"Because when I try to think about all the ways I can prepare for today, I tried to make it match my theme. To make everything so focused on me so that I could win and show everyone that this stage is me. But its like you said, 20 different idols, 20 different answers, and many more that can come. And do you know why?"

The interviewer leaned forward with anticipation. "Why?"

"Because that's Aikatsu. Because even though we're all within the top 20, it doesn't mean that there's one single answer that I have to follow to win. It's not like me wearing Futuring Girl will mean I automatically win or not. Trying to find an answer in how I can prepare a perfect stage doesn't exist. What I can control that will make my stage is just being myself. I like the song Clear and the brand Retro Clover and though liking myself takes a bit more effort sometimes, I like the feeling when people watch me through those feelings of doubt. That's why this stage is just filled with what I love. All other complicated details can come later."

"Well as someone that has seen many idols today, I can say confidently that that this has defiantly been a unique interview. I don't think I've ever gotten a question during a session that's for sure. But let me do my job for one last question though." Fumiko nodded happily. "How was this interview today?"

She jumped up from her seat with her hands in the air. "A perfect score, 10 out of 10!"

The studio and crowd filled with laughter and applause. Already with her influence flowing through the crowd, everyone was cheering loudly to welcome her. It didn't matter what they knew about her before today. Fumiko was ready to meet them with the idol that she was right now in this moment. Filled with only thoughts of being on the stage she watched for years, she jumped through the Aikatsu system with a wide smile never leaving her face.

Finally she was here. The Starlight queen was here to defend the title she earned in only her first year. Though her competition was strong this year, she was ready to meet all of them head on. No more needed to be said about her that no one hadn't already of. "Everyone welcome our queen Char!"

The screams shook the floor so that even those backstage could feel the intensity. Up until this point, all the contestants were holding strong that they had temporarily forgotten who they were going up against. This single moment made them remember.

Eyes were glued to the screen displaying the interview. Almost as if she knew the state people were in, she waved to the camera followed by a shushing motion. The whole crowd listened to their queen and hushed up for her interview session. A faint chuckle could be heard behind the one filming.

"You know your fans so well."

"Not at all. I'm sure that they're cheering for everyone that is giving it their all today."

"That is probably very true as well. This is the Royalty cup after all. Your second one to bat at. Do you think that this will be the second one you win in a row?"

"I don't want to accidentally jinx it but I plan on showing everyone today why I am still at the top of the charts." The crowd cheered loudly once more at her well deserved confidence. From her debut until now, no one of this generation was close to pushing her out of her rank. It wasn't luck. It was her talent and hard work that kept everyone's' eyes on her. Everyone had a chance today but she wouldn't let them take it that easily without deserving it.

"And I'm sure that many are looking forward to you proving that. Mind telling us a bit about how you plan on doing that? Your outfit to start off is quite fitting for a queen but there's something else that I can't put my finger on. A conductor?"

Angely Sugar's Maestra Lead had all clef types outlined in sparkles run down alongside the black lining of the pastel pink and violet ballroom dress. Even without those details it was clear that the theme of the coord was that of a music conductor. A music staff wrapping around her waist with its noticeable 5 lines and four spaces. The corset with short sleeves mirrored a real coat. White silk gloves covering her forearms as if she was real royalty.

"Very similar but today the word that you're looking for is a maestra. While to many these two words can be used almost interchangeably, maestra can mean stuff like teacher, a distinguished artist, someone that is of a higher, respectable status. In a lot of ways, I think it's very similar to being a queen where all it takes is a wave of my hand to silence a crowd or make them react." To further demonstrate her point, she raised her hand up knowing full well that people were 'ooo'ing to her statement. Those in the silent interview room didn't need to question that she had full control over those watching.

"The role that I play as top idol and queen is not just about being the best at music, acting, appearance, or dance. And I do pride myself on those skills, don't get me wrong. But I think that what I do above all is stand in front of my fellow idols as a pillar. Like a conductor that stands before the orchestra to translate the music sheet to noise, like a queen that reflects her care of country to the people, the main thing that I have to focus on for every performance I do is to return to my roots. Regardless of whether my outfit is a premium rare or my school uniform those don't shine, I don't shine, if I don't learn to value those things. My training in vocals, dance, the way that I speak, all those things come together to make me top idol. How could I lead if I ever forgot what got me here today?"

"That must be a bit of pressure that weighs on your shoulders. I truly don't know how you manage to do it."

"Sometimes I wonder that myself. Perhaps because of the tremendous amount of support that I constantly receive?" The two chuckled. "No but honestly I love being on stage. I love seeing my fans that cheer for me. When I'm under that spotlight I don't think people look at me and think 'there's the queen I must cheer'. They think 'ah I'm cheering so loudly because I love her. That's why she is the queen'. I work hard everyday to make sure that their support is well received. Today is just a bit more special."

"Special because of the event's legacy?"

She softly smiled at the memory of her cute underclassmen and her other side. "Special because so many of my favourite idols are performing against me. Many idols that I admire are going back to back with amazing performances. Just the thought is enough to get me pumped up for mine. Where else could see such a furious competition of some of the best idols in the industry? And me at the end as the finishing stage? I can't wait!"

The interviewer became at a loss of words seeing her aura trickle out of her. As the last interview, they have already seen the excitement from all the contestants. Some of them show it through their aura the same as Char. However, it was the way the ribbons wrapped around them that they became allured. The violet flowers looked so real as they danced with her small movements. Her dazzling sparkles almost made them want to look away but couldn't.

"It seems you were already ready to be out there before this interview. I won't keep you too much longer but is there anything you would like to say to those watching or even those competing with you today?"

Char straighten up to fully face the camera. "Since I am the last to go, my message of encouragement wouldn't really reach those performing. So I'll say this instead. To everyone watching me, I hope you're prepared to greet me and I am to you."

The entire crowd screamed to welcome the pink glow arriving on stage. Char took a deep breath of the vibrating air. Her racing heart makes her feet bounce in anticipation. There was a buzz into her inner mic to signal the start of the song. It didn't matter how many stood before her today. This was now Char's stage to own.

All 20 idols remained backstage as Johnny Bepp and Kiriya Aoi started their ascension to the stage. A podium holding the crowns and bouquets right in between them. As all the contestants watched the live stream from the monitors, Momo watched the two of them from the side curtain. This was the first Royalty cup that some of them ever got to experience. This was going to be her first and last. She wanted to see it up close. She wanted to be the one that they called onto that stage.

Shouta snapped her trance when he suddenly appeared next to her to hold her hand. Fumiko soon joined to latch onto her from behind. Hayate threw his arm over Shouta. Charlotte looping her arm around Momo's. In her pocket was her phone buzzing with messages from SELF and Yuki. She smiled having them all so close during this time. It was beautiful to think that in just one year they had all grown to be such lovely people.

"Hey hey hey! Everyone let's give one last shout for all the amazing idols that have performed today!" Johnny Bepp ran around the stage with his hands waving at everyone to keep their energies up. "This is the moment you all have been waiting for! 20 idols, 20 performances and only 2 winners. This year's Royalty cup is coming to an end that the only thing we can do is let these 2 top idols take their crowns!"

The five idols watching in the sidelines held onto each other tightly as Aoi raised her microphone. "I, once more, want to thank everyone that has been supporting these students. I couldn't be any prouder of any of those today. But as Bepp-sensei has said we have to crown our king and queen that I won't stall any further."

The back screen changed to show all 20 idols and a bar next to them. The bars slowly starting to fill with colour and moving people according to their rank. "Same as the past few years, ranking has no backing from the ranking prior to the stages. All the scores you see being tallied at the moment are taking into consideration of three things. Audience reactions gauged by the system, both online and in person, skill evaluation by our teachers and other professionals in the field, and finally the voting tally from everyone watching today."

Everyone held their breath as some people's numbers started to stop. The screen shifted to those that were still running. It was almost like time was slowing down as more people's names kept disappearing off the ranking. In reality, it didn't take long for everyone to notice that two people's numbers didn't slow down. How fitting that the two remaining were one female and one male. Now they were only watching the finally few points pouring in to award one of the two as the defiant top idol.

Once the numbers finally stopped, confetti cannons went off. "And there we have it folks!"

The two were shoved on to the stage by their friends. The two almost hesitating to leave them behind when they were only greeted by tearier faces and smiles to encourage them to move forward. Nodding to each they stepped back into the spotlight to get their crowns.

"Everyone please welcome our first ever Starlight King Higawari Shouta and our second time winner and top idol our Starlight Queen Char!"

The two of them bowed in every direction they could. Mouthing 'thank you's as much as they could. When they reached the center, Aoi and Johnny Bepp handed them two bouquets. They bent their heads in sync for the crowning.

Char had already experienced this once but that didn't change the exhilaration that came with being named top idol. The crown that she wears now was a symbol of pride. When she turned to the crowd that showed their love for her, she was glad that she was able to greet them another time. That the confidence they had in her to show another top performance was met.

Shouta, on the other hand, couldn't fully believe that he had actually won. He had become not only the first ever Starlight King but his total points were close to only 300 away from beating Char. He was so close that it almost felt obtainable. For once, staring at all those lights, he finally started to realize how loved he was. That his music, his work, his personality, himself, he was proud to say that he can make people happy.

"Congratulations to the both of you. You both have worked incredibly hard and I have personally seen how much you have grown. Thank you for such special performances."

Aoi handed Char the microphone first seeing as Shouta was still finding his words. "Thank you Headmistress Kiriya. Thank you everyone that has ever supported me, my fans, teachers, staff, friends... Charlotte. You would think that me winning a second time, I would be better spoken but all I can think is that I'm full of gratitude. I was made to be an idol and I thank everyday that I can experience with overwhelming support. So I will make use of that love and care each time I stand on stage. I promise you that I will give it my all to make none of you regret making me shine as bright as I do. Thank you for letting me, Char the idol, live. Thank you."

Char gave the deepest bow. As much as she gave thanks to those watching, it was the same for them. They loved her confidence on that stage. She shone because she was created full of love. And until someone else was filled with and received such, she was untouchable. The closest to being Shouta, her fellow top idol.

Being handed the microphone, it felt lighter than anything. "Um, hi? That's not- I mean um- hi. And thank you."

There were a few chuckles in the crowd. The two were so different. But they saw honesty and connection in him. They loved Shouta because they saw the possibility to be more in him. When he stood on that stage in front of them with that crown and bouquet decorating him, they saw an idol that has never once went back against their hope in him.

"Um obviously I'm not as well spoken Takahashi-senpai, but I want to say that I never and I mean never would have thought that I can be an idol. Let alone King. I originally got into music because my brother thought that I needed something to get myself out there. And then I met the person who changed my life." Momo smiled watching him from the sidelines. "It's because of her that I met so many more amazing people. It's because of everyone's support that I can stand here. I don't know what it'll be like as King but I'll give it my all. Thank you again!"

"Let's give it up one final time for our Starlight King and Queen and for every other idol that has performed today!"

The two could barely contain their laughters hearing their friends cheer on the sidelines. Fumiko and Hayate's voices loudly screaming out for them. It wouldn't be surprising if the cameras could pick up the sound. Momo standing there with a polite applause to contrast them making it all that better of an image.

Today was a joyous occasion. A feast was held. The praise went into the night, both online and in person. There were declarations that the two should watch their spots well for next year would be an even better competition. Ones that were met with an equally serious chance to see their friends and rivals dethrone them. It was a day that friends and family alike couldn't contain their happiness.

Two weeks since the Royalty Cup had passed when Suzukawa Momo announced on her Kirapatter that she would be holding a press conference to discuss her future in Aikatsu.

Guest: Well here you go! One more chapter before the finale. Oh wow I'm actually at the finale I hope you enjoy it until the very end!

Trivia: While I tried to give the interviews a pretty similar set up while still being unique to each idol, I think the part that I struggled the most with was deciding on the songs. I wanted to pick not only lyrics that matched them but still within their usual stage themes. Besides Shouta that his song picked out years ago, everyone else was made after months of constant readjustment. Especially Char who I wanted to be queen again I needed to give a song that would be suitable for her to win again. Ultimately it went down to hearing ClariS perform Connect live on First Take that I was like yes this is the queen elegance that I was looking for. And for Hayate I came to the harsh reality that I barely listen to male Jpop singers that aren't kpop groups with Japanese songs. The I7 franchise really coming in clutch for that decision and even inspiring the coords that the boys wear.
