Chapter 4: Deadly trap part 2
[Momonga P.O.V Inn in E-Rantel]
What the magical nonsense is that! I just came here and some silverback draconic golem or something is on me.
I was so panicked, my emotional suppression activated every 2 seconds now.
Maybe I overdid it by using [Greater Teleportation] 6 times by now.
But still, how did he found me so quickly. It would mean that even having [Perfect Unknowable] is not a safe option at this point.
-Calm down, deep breaths.-
Said large skeleton lying comatose on an bug infested bed.
-Umu. This didn't went well... like everything i did at this point.-
Maybe its the distance? He couldn't sense me out when I was running with refugees toward E-Rantel.
-It doesn't make any sense. Maybe he was after this blond scarred man?-
Or maybe it was me?
I facepalmed.
-My aura of despair. I must used it, without knowing I used it.-
I shifted myself toward the window. It was already tommorow.
For so long i have been panicking that the next day began.
I chuckled. Well looks like Momon is back into action.
-[Create Greater Item]-
-[Perfect Warrior]-
-Well it must suffice for now.-
After all world wont explore itself for me. Or maybe will it do it?
I looked back into my shadow where i knew was hidden one of the Hanzos.
Or rather the only one. It appears my hoarding habits has saved the day again.
-Red you may leave my shadow.-
Red obediently materialised in front of me kneeling. He proudly dispalyed red piece of cloth that
i gave him to familiarize myself with him.
For what do I need to find companions? When i can just summon them.
Summons are always loyal. Will never let you down and always think the best of you.
-This humble servant answers your call Supreme one.-
Maybe they think a little to more of me. The pressure he places upon me is too great!
Emotional supression activated.
-Umu. Red, does your skills detected any noticable presence?-
Red glanced around and shook his head.
-No, this one have not detected any presence that would intentionaly hide itself.-
Umu. That's good. Though my constantly rising paranoia didn't backed down. At least for now
no dragons fly over my head.
-Dragon!-
Somebody started screaming outside.
I said that. Damn it!
I quickly run downstairs to look what all of this is about.
-What is this all about.-
Inkeeper shrugged, still looking at me warily probably because I knocked out his employe yesterday.
It takes one to know one.
When i exited the inn everybody was running around. Mothers were taking children to homes, merchants were hiding their stock and taking their carts from the streets. Guards were trying to enforce order and failing pitifuly.
(Supreme one! I warrant you to take caution! I detected strong presence flying above)
I knew my objective and i runned for it. Maybe there I will find some answers.
(And where now are those?)
I saw with my senses faint figure of Hanzo hopping between roofs just above me.
(They seem to all be heading towards south)
Slane Theocracy? What the heck is happening? Why everyone is trying to kill eachother when I arrived?
Is this some joke? Or end of the world?
Something happened, and sky shattered like a glass then quickly repaired itself.
Bon apetit you overgrown lizards. I speed up even more.
I finally arrived at adventurers guild. Strangely nobody was infront of it.
I opened the door. It was even worse than outside everybody was pointing at eachother and screaming.
-Silence!-
Someone ordered in comanding tone. On the balcony above that had view on the whole hall stood one man.
Everybody froze motionless. Until somebody loudly sneezed.
Adventurers managed to compose themselves and looked waiting for orders from an old man that looked
at us all like a hawk. Expecting silence and obedience.
It almost made me wish to also have this comanding presence.
-Situation is critical but stable. As you probably all know monsters around the forest of Tob
grew restless and something scared them out of there. This something are...-
The old man walked up to the wall and unrolled some map that was pinned to a wall.
It was map of whole new world. I gave silent orders to Hanzo to copy that map for me.
I need to stay sharp.
-... dragon lords.-
As soon as those words left old man everybody gasped and some fresh adventurers started packing their things.
-This night arrived to us some disturbing news. It was... a declaration of war.-
My emotional supression activated.
Adventurers were less fortunate. Desk lady fainted on the spot.
-But it wasn't made for us! Not for the kingdom of Re-Estize.-
Everybody let out sigh of relief, including me.
-It was information from the capitol that arrived to us earlier because of our contact from mage guild.
This information is confirmed. It arrived in a sealed letter straight from His Majesty administration.
Argland Council State is oficially at war with Slane Theocracy.-
I almost tripped. My emotional supression activated so fast it felt like epileptic attack.
I didn't know why but it was somehow a fault of those false empire knights.
That was it! Casus belli. But something is entirely missing. Why the one leaded to two?
I need to figure everything right, and better do it rather quickly.

[Throne Room, Ro-Lente Castle]
King Ramposa The III was sitting in his throne as always looking more like a decoration than a true monarch.
From the left behind his throne stood Gazef Stronnoff Warrior Captain of the Kingdom of Re-Estize.
He looked no better than him. His eyes were sunken and his face was pale from sleepless nights he spend
while he runned his horses to death. Even now he cannot have his peaceful sleep. The sensless squabbling
of the nobles slowly drawed them both mad.
-That is of no importance!-
-This! Your Weronika... what is she like?-
-Draconic kingdom and war? Never heard of it-
-You fool! Its not about draconic kingdom at all! But about Argland Council state!-
-I would propose we wait for the situation to solve itself and later reap it benefits-
-They told you, you can't smoke and drink while tomorrow morning you will be at royal court.
But it's completly not true. You can, but you need to wake up in the morning, that's what i call responsibility!-
Some noble said and collapsed on the floor. Nobody paid attention to him because he was too far away from
the king. So it doesn't matter anyway.
- Once I was a fearsome warrior but i got shot in the knee by an arrow. It ruined my dreams about adventurous life.-
-Aeugh-
-Why I am even here? Where am I? Who am I?-
- Now you add some sugar...-
-Its not like its good or bad. Its average.-
-Silence!-
King finally found his voice. The whole room went silent.
And then everybody looked at traumatised messenger who held a roll of parchment.
-So Theocracy is at war with the dragons. Why do I even care? I have more important matters to atend to!-
Some noble shouted.
Widely known figure stepped up. It was marquis Raeven. Blond man with a sharp features and focused stare.
-It is a matter of great importance. Because our annual war is deeply tied with it.
Every time Empire of Baharuth strikes us at the same time, when the autumn harvest is about to begin.
It happens like always we fight imperial army on Katze plains and it always ends with draw.
And every time it ends with draw we must buy a huge amounts of grain from Slane Theocracy to simply not starve to death.
But even this doesn't help and famine is almost certain at this point. When we include this war into calculations
we might as well starve this winter.
Some nobles smirked others laughed. Others looked like Marquis Boullope. He had a glint in his eyes like he fished some
great ocasion.
-Then I propose we strike Empire early this year. We will show them what looks like a real fight!-
The nobles again exploded in pointless bickering.
Marquis Raeven took a look at the second prince of Re-Estize who had a look of horror on his face.
He probably already seen in his mind the implications of such a war. When their gazes meet they nodded to eachother in understanding.
Barbro shouted some nonsense about battle and glory, though he never really participated in a serious battle.
The only person seemingly unaffected by all of this was princess Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself.
And the only person in this room knowing what actually happened. And who is responsible for such situation.
She analized every bit of information that was presented to her in court and in her extensive network of spies.
Everything was centered around certain dark knight who arrived from literally nowhere.
She also was sure that she will meet him personaly very soon. Great minds think similiar and tend to attract to each other.
A knight in shining dark armour. Ironic that actually person like him will save the princess in distress.

[? P.O.V - Mountain of Defiance]
This slobbering fool. When something wents out of his grasp he acts like a wyrmling and begans another time of troubles.
He is very similar to his father and he doesn't even know it. He wants to destroy players so much that he will turn whole
world to ashes just to be sure nobody endangers his position. Always it is about greater good, and always it ends up with
milions of souls dead. We dragon lords supposed to be guardians of mortal souls! Not reapers of them! Maybe that's why world
doesn't listen to us anymore. Our powers weaken every time it happens. And this fool thinks by attempting another
genocide he can just fix everything just like that. Fool! Fool! Fool!
Ground shook as I went out my anger.
I am the oldest Dragon Lord that is still alive. Yet nobody listens to me. They commit the same crimes and mistakes over and over again.
Like they were some bunch of mortals! But I had enough. No more I will stand by side while my whole world is falling around me.
I exited my lair. And the light of sun welcomed me with open arms...
Then whole mountain shook and then collapsed into low hills. I watched everything from afar.
-No more.-

[Six Cardianls - Secret Room]
In the well lit room six figures quickly moved with a purpose.
They were cleaning. But they were not some housekeepers.
They were cardinals of the Slane theocracy.
-Praise the six!-
Cardinal of the Wind intoned.
-Praise the six!-
The other five cardinals repeated.
They seated themselves around the round table made from wood from the realm of gods.
And then silence remained.
Until Cardinal of fire finally spoke.
-So? Anyone? Lets begin this meeting. For a time being we have half of the capital missing covered
in foul [radiation damage], the Sunlight Scripture is missing, Miko princess of Earth is dead.
And the artifact of the gods also went missing. We have murderer on the run, the same that we raised
as a member of black scripture. To add salt to injury Dragon Lords want to start
this all over again just like the last time.
Then came seventh figure wearing a dark tome covered in spikes.
-Yes Cardinal Berenice, i think you summed everything that happened perfectly.-
Everybody wanted to stand up to pay respects to Pontifex Maximus but he gave them a sign with his hand to remain seated.
- We have no other choice but do what our predecessors did. We need to activate third legacy.-
Book in Pontifex hands were growling like some kind of enraged goblin. And shaking a little in his hands.
The others had a look of grim understanding on their faces. Meanwhile Cardinal of Earth had a look of dead fish.
He knew exactly what this entails. But everybody already agreed on this so he remained silent.
-I already talked with you Raymond, about retaliatory missions that black scripture will conduct in enemy territory.-
He looked at Raymond who looked slightly more alive but still like he was dead inside.
-Raymond. I know your opinions about using second and third legacy. But times are dire and I will not repeat myself anymore.
We are about to fight a long wa that would be fought for years. Dragons are not like us. They can leave their cities,
and care less about them. But in our hand we have safety of our church, artifacts left by our gods, and elven rebelion just behind the corner.-
The rest of the meeting went how always went. They talked about politics, economy and their raging war with elves.
/o/
[Cardinal of Fire P.O.V Clock tower]
-I just can't believe they all agreed to this like that!-
On the highest hill, in the highest tower in front of the biggest vault. Stood one individual while the other remained sitting.
- Then just kill them all if you disagree and have this all behind you.-
The woman voice said.
-Very funny. You know i can't do it like that. Theocracy is not some sort of demihumans that choose their leaders by strength alone.-
She smiled wider. And wider. And wider.
-Why not? You can open up the door and I will help you, together we can rule the Theocracy!-
Old man stopped rambling and looked at the woman.
-You know, you are the only person that can joke like that, right?-
The woman was not even slightly moved by the stare he was giving her.
She was just playing with rubik's cube like always.
Long sigh stretched among the hallways.
-You know the Third legacy requires human sacrifice. And not other than children.-
Small woman stopped playing with her cube and stand up looking into old man's eyes.
-There is always two things i care for. One, killing my father. Second, finding strong father that can give me children I desire.
You've mistaken my desires with compassion Cardinal Raymond.-
Cardinal was not suprised by this. Only looked down at her.
-I know Zesshi, I know. And every second I regret what we have done to you.-
She scoffed at that.
-The older you are the more sentimental you become.-
She returned at her place and sat down.
-Yes and that's what worrying. The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.-
She looked like him to challange him to say something.
-You know as long as you are...-
Cardinal sat down next to her. Only he could do that like that. Every other man would already be dead.
-Yes as long as I am here...-
They both were silent. She looked at him. But this time, like she knew what was coming.
-We wont be fighting the elf king.-
The explosion shook the entire tower.

[Momonga P.O.V E-Rantel Main Gate]
We all were waiting for guards to open up the gates. Ther were at least three dozen groups of adventurers.
They ale came here from entire country to fight of the monsters siege of E-Rantel. I was standing among them
observing them. They all were buffing themselves. Mages naturally mostly used buffs coming from yggdrasil.
But warriors used some unknown form of power known widely as martial arts. It appears they work on user stamina
and sometimes endurance of someones body. When I asked them about it they were very eager to explain me how martial arts
work. Apparently someone that get proficient enough in anyting that is not related to magic can learn this power
to enchance themselves in the key moments of the battle. I need to study it some more. Just for this battle
I ordered Red to observe martial arts user and write down useful information. Well, it was supposed to be like that until
Red said he is illiterate. Shitty devs always mess up something.
The gate to the E-Rantel started opening and all adventures from platinium to copper poured out of the gates to stop
monstrosities that crawled out of the forest. It is we or them at this point. But still humans of this kingdom
kind of deserved all of that. Those mass exterminations and disrupting natural habitats. Humans here are the same ones
like back on earth. Human against everything even other humans. Somewhat I am glad I do not belong to this cursed race anymore.
Or maybe its my edgy faze returning? I do not know maybe my detachment from humanity made me look into things from another pespective?
Again I am overthinking everything. We came down rushing like some barbarians from a movie.
I spotted first bunch of enemies and bunny hopped towards them. It was a bunch of ogres fighting a basilisk.
Looks like everything fights eachother. What a meatgrinder.
I ignored the "ohhs" and "ahhs" of my fellow adventurers and crushed right in to the basilisk with full force.
I snapped its head by my speed alone. Then i came down to decapitating ogres one by one. I played the act perfectly
releasing a groans of effort everytime I swinged my twin great swords like some windmill of violence.
After i chopped up last of the ogres i set down in a heroic landing with two greatswords embeded in ground.
-No way he is only a copper plate!-
-This guy i seen him! He just registered!-
-Aeugh-
-That is not fair! How can he do that!-
-He must be a hidden godkin!-
-My balls are itchy-
-Amazing!-
-For honor and glory!-
The whole bunch of adventurers lunched themselves up with martial arts.
Four of them were some kind of full plate paladins with huge shields.
-[Gale Acceleration], [Shield Bash]!-
I twisted my head to look at them. They were charging at bunch of goblins. Though from my perspective they were painfully slow.
They smacked the gigling goblins and send them flying to their comrades. They tumbled down hill in a mess of limbs.
The paladin looking adventurers were quickly swarmed by a bunch of goblins from two sides.
Among them was a strange goblin with a cylindrical hat. He tossed something up in the air and confetti like magic rained down
on his comarades healing them. Healer. If they don't deal with him fast enough there will be a problem.
From the group of adventurers came a curious bunch.
One of them was a short boy with a staff that ended in a circle, second was an archer with constant smirk plastered on his face.
I feel from this guy peroroncino vibes. Next was rather bear of a man witha build of a tank but he didn't gave a feel like one.
Last guy was looking like he was leading figure. He also was shouting orders to his comarades.
-[Magic Arrow]-
Young boy with a staff shouted. A magic circle appeared in front of his staff and he shot a magic arrow at the face of
the poor goblin healer. His face caved in and he tripped down like a puppet whose strings had been cut.
I quickly slashed down at barghest that wanted to jump me from behind and chopped his head with one swift motion of my wrist.
If i stand out like that those newbies will take fame right from my nose. It cannot stand like that.
I let out a war cry and rushed ahead.

[Somewhere in the E-Rantel cementery]
In the oddly calm cementery stood a woman with her robe tightly tied so her figure can be more accented.
Woman marched up to the nearby cript. But not like any others to mourn. Under her hood appeared a deranged grin.
She kneeled on the front. But not in silent prayer but to touch stone decoration.
The stone decoration was in reality a button. The low rumbling sound of stone caused the grave to open.
It opened a secret path below. She skipped stairs hopping like a little girl.
- Daaaaleee... Where are youu.-
From the deep darkness of the tomb came a gruff voice.
-How many times I told you to not call me like that! If you have nothing else to give or say get out!-
The voice belonged to a bald pale man robed in purple robes glowing in negative energy.
He held a pulsing purple jewel that felt like it was releasing a wave after a wave.
But it was not true. It was attracting negative energy in waves.
-Oh how meeeaan. Poor Clementine works day and night for a disgusting old man and gets harrased in her work!-
She pouted childishly revealing her face. She was Clementine, a run away from Slane Theocracy.
Previous 9th seat of the Black Scripture.
Man named Dale didn't moved an inch looking straight in Clementines eyes.
-Oh! Why are you soooo serious? I only came to announce good news!-
Dale remained unconvinced.
-Huh! Fine, adventurers from the whole city are going for a hunt for a while. So you get a window to take action.-
She tapped her feet on the stone impatiently.
He only smirked.
-Everything is so great, but you see we can't speed thing up and usless trinket that you brought here will not help at all without a conduit.-
Then Clementine looked like some kitten that was proud it catched a canary.
-And that's where you are wroooong littleeee Daleee. There is one person in this city that can use any magical item without any restrictions.-
She licked her lips in seductive manner.
This took interest of the necromancer.
-All right spit it out.-
/o/
[Momonga P.O.V Plains in front of E-Rantel]
Creatures of the forest were on the run. Its not like I hated them really. In the middle of the fight i seen when others were
gathering trophies from the slain. Then i catched up at the meaning of this. Guild needs their proof so they cut off the ears.
And here I was cutting ear after ear with knife around level 80 made from pure celestium. Well I didn't had anyting that wasn't enchanted with special
effects and didn't attracted much attention. It looked like a common hunting knife. But looks can be deveiving it could cut through toughest dragon scales.
That was one of the favorite knives of nishikienrai. But it wasn't one of his main gear. He gave it to me the last time i seen him in game.
I cried like a baby after he left and never returned.
Well I wanted to do it now too, but emotional supression activated.
Then ringing of bells came from inside the city.
The city was in trouble and someone used the moment of distraction to attack the city. I gathered up my loot and tosed it into my inventory when no one was watching.
I runned up the commotion at the gate.
-Open up the gate you moron!-
Guards shouted above clearly in distress.
-I can't! Somebody destroyed the mechanism controlling the gate!-
Adventurers were grouping outside already. I seen the same group of Paladins from before clad in full armour polished to perfection.
They were screaming at each other.
-We were supposed to find this fiend! And now probably he wreaks havoc inside the city!-
The tallest of them said.
-Dragon Lords won't be pleased if we fail our mission like that..-
One of them murmored almost inaudiably but I with my enchanced hearing catched it up.
(My lord! They appear to be agents of the enemy, will you please let me struck them my lord!)
Red lamented in clear worry. I seen him just above the gate holding the protruding stone brick.
He was ready to strike them down at any moment.
(Not now Red it will take to much attention towards me. We need to find another ocasion)
Everybody was trying to chip up the gate or bomard it with spells to open it up.
Well I got enough of this sound it was annoying and tickled my nonexistent brain.
-MOVE!-
I shouted like some bodybuilder on steroids.
Everybody looked towards me, even guards up the wall frozen up.
Not paying them any mind I came towards gate and started lifting it up with both my armoured hands.
-Ughhhh!-
I tried to give them some room to think that takes some toll on me.
The gate started moving up. Everybody started cheering up and gasping at my display of strength.
I moved the gate between my shoulders and with fake effort stayed that way.
-What... are.. you waiting... for!-
I screamed. It made them came out of their stupor and they started flowing into the city.
It was already in a state of disarey. Ghasts Flied above creating a putrid smell.
Wraiths were breaking windows. Common skeletons were filling the streets from all sides.
Well that was pure chaos. They didn't attacked me because I was undead.
If I could use my magic right now...
Anyway let's go with the flow and later I will find some answers.
I snapped my fingers. Red came into my shadow.
(Red, find the perpetrators, judge their level of threat and probable abilities)
Red bowed though nobody could see him and disappeared.
I lifted my swords and released a warcry.
I launched myself into the undead cleaving them all in one well swoop.
I didn't stopped there and turned everything in my way to bonemeal.
I heard when behind me adventurers cheered.
Those paladins started casting their spells and martial arts.
-[Under divine flag], [Flow acceleration], [Ability boost], [Quick March],
[Anti-Evil Protection], [Holy Strike].
They cleaved with equal ease through undead hordes, but still they were ants in comparison to me. Even without my spells.
I knew where I need to be going, while everybody was going towards Adventurers guild or mayor office I was going in different direction.
Towards pulses of negative energy coming up from the ideal place to start a negative energy ritual.
Cementery. If I wanted to quickly create mass of undead I would choose the same place. But maybe my undead will by much more stronger.
Who the hell waste so much energy on skeletons. This bogged me as a fellow necromancer. Whoever was behind this attack cleary didn't know
what the hell he is doing. Another reason besides fame to snuff this danger out.
I runned so fast I needed couple meters to slow down with my boots sliding on the stone.
Before me stood three people one was Old man that with his presence alone demanded respect and the other was lying on the floor screaming his lungs out.
He had clearly broken leg. And the third was some mage that looked like dried cactus in caster robes.
-[Magic arrow]-
The mage chanted. He clearly was defending the downed adventurer has a mithril plate hanging from his neck.
-[Fortress]-
The old man took the blow of attacking skeleton blocking his sword.
-Ainzach for the wrath of god! Stop this nonsense and fall back!-
Screamed the mage trying to talk some sense into him.
-Its my turn-
I said and rushed in turning all undead in area to piles of bones and rotten flesh.
I slashed my greatswords left and right to make the most cool poses in my opinion.
When I killed last one in the alley I looked up at them faking panting.
-So, good people what are you doing in such a fine day fighting this undead horde?-
Guildmaster that I just learned was named Ainzach looked at me like I was some halucination.
Meanwhile mage looked like a suffocating coy fish. Closing and opening his mouth trying to say something.
-What are you waiting for copper newbie! Call up rest of the adventurers inside this cementery is the culprit!-
Ainzach waked up from his stupor and turned his head towards wounded adventurer.
-Igvarge! This man just saved our life show some respect.-
He scolded the grimacing adventurer.
The mage bowed in gratitude.
-We are thankful for your help sir.. Momon ah yes. We were about to regroup in the adventurers guild but we were cut out.
And we ended up right here. Unfortunetly we can't acces the cementery without enough force.-
They are about to fall back. Umu. I dont have time for this at all.
I braced myself and jumped through the wall of cementery leaving confused Ainzach, coy fish mage and bratty adventurers to their oddities.
From the Author:
