Chapter 6: Dying Light

[Southern Border of the Slane Theocracy]

In a very far away on the edges of the slane Theocracy with endless desert stood a fortress.

On the old gray sturdy walls of this fortress stood two guards watching a peculiar sight.

-When do you think he will get bored of this?-

Asked the younger guard while scratching his goatee beard.

-He is reminding me of mosquitos in the upper fire month.-

They were watching from a far a giant white scaled dragon, beating on the invisible barrier.

The dragon looked beyond pissed. It's not like it helped him in anything.

He clawed, rammed and breathed fire on the barrier to no avail.

-Curse you! And your tricks Yggdrasil scum!-

He finally wented his anger. Now he needs to figure out how to destroy or bypass barrier that protected

Theocracy even in the first age of troubles. His magic was way stronger then. Now tier magic is becoming

more powerful day, by day.

He flew off and setted on the low hill to contemplate the development of events.

His magic was weaken again like it always did when one of them crawled out of their realm and invaded their peaceful existence, everything was so simple back then.

And like always this filth slipped out of his claws again. The Evil Deities almost wiped Dragon Lords to the last of their kind.

Long ago there was hundereds of dragon lords and dragons were in thousands. And later came Greed kings, they turned entire world upside down.

And conquered entire continent. Well it ended up rather simple, it wasn't hard to convince this undead fool to use [Downfall of Castle and Country]

to secretly set them against themselves. And killing him after the battle was very easy. He didn't even had strength to stand up.

He sneered. The only one that slipped of his fingers was this pesky insectoid. And only because of this fool, who is still hiding in his lone mountain.

He heard Wild magic teleportation activating. Then he smelled familiar scent but something was off.

-Aiwuthaa I do not have time for your oddities.-

He said and rotated his neck lazily. Then his eyes widen in horror.

Aiwuthaa was drenched in glowing white blood. His wings were torn and had multiple holes, it looked like they rotted away and then was pierced by sandstorm.

His whole boddy was not looking any better, there were multiple cracks in his glitching armor, in front of his chest was also hole with ribs,

portruding from insides. His neck was twisted at odd angle.

He flashed a half-dead toothless smile one of his eyes weren't there and piece of his skull was exposed and missing.

He collapsed on the spot.

-Aiwuthaa I swear if this is one of your jokes it is not funny!-

He said in a clearly worried and scared tone. All dignity was gone. Even his anger subsided.

He was whispering something. The white dragon came closer to hear him out.

-I had... a good run didn't I?-

Before he could ask him what happened to him he fell into a fits of coughing.

-You see...the only reason I am still alive is Wild magic...-

If somebody would see a dragon like him bawling his eyes out, he probably would say he saw everything in his life and is ready to die.

-This bastard... he is like this one undead... that you killed... you think the prophecy?..-

His breathing became unstable. There was nothing he could do to save him.

-I am gods damned dragon lord, yet I cannot do nothing when my dear friends die around me. What a failure I am.-

Said the white scaled dragon in clear resignation. He shed one single tear buzzing with Wild magic.

Then the weakest and the youngest of Dragon Lords left this plane and returned to the origin of Dragon Lords.

His body started disapearing like a sandcastle blowed by a wind.

In the place where tear has fallen appeared single completely black rose pulsing with white light between cracks in steem.

/o/

-Hey momo! Move your boney ass here!-

Somebody said in a cheery tone. I knew this voice it was voice of one of my dearest friends.

I quickly walked through the damp corridors of 5th floor, I was specifically running towards entrance to the 6th floor arena.

-Well I am here Buku what is this all about?..-

I asked and at the same time I saw slime bubbling with anticipation. Next to her were a pair of two dark elves.

She created her own npc? Yes, that's right after peroroncino started tinkering with Shalltear there was a certain competition

between the siblings. Ulbert was pretty mad about this. That she used not one but two Npc slots to create new floor guardians.

Nobody saw what she were working on because she bribed Ancient One with some books to create barrier surrounding certain tree house.

-Look at them big brother momonga if you want you can become daddy not only because of your nickname!-

Gosh she is teasing me again. Thank good you can't actually blush in game cause half of the time I would be embarassed.

-Yeah, they look beautiful how did you called them?-

/o/

-Do you think they are going alive between our gaming sessions like in this toy movie?-

I shrugged. But in reality I was a total mess. My whole body shook from sorrow.

-I don't know..-

The bubbling and steaming slime turned her "head" towards my avatar.

-Momonga there is always new adventure to have. New game to play. We all knew this didn't supposed to be forever.

Everybody has their own life, their own troubles, I have operation today, I do not even know that I will be alive by tomorrow.

That is the only way...-

She told me in her serious tone her cheery attitude was gone.

I was ready to start crying any moment. I could not take this.

My soul was in shambles. Every time one of them left, it was like i was burned alive.

Then she twisted her slimey head and she changed to her cheery tone again.

-Until next time little ones! Maybe we see each other on another adventure!-

Then she disappeared.

Whole world turned grey and whole warmth left this world.

/o/

He was alone in a dark void.
Suzuki Satoru was standing in his human form screaming but none word left his mouth. Not even a whisper.

He saw how Ulbert turns his back towards him and leaves. He tried to catch him but his legs were stuck, he was running standing in place.

Then Ulbert turned into dust. A fragment of his soul shattered in pieces.

He saw Tabula brewing his potions in his lab. He runned up to him to catch him. But when he hugged him he disappeared into thin mist.

This cold he was feeling... His chest was about to burst open. Another fragment of his soul died.

Then Nishikienrai came running past him, this time he didn't even tried to stop him.

He also Disappeared blending into the endless void. His heart snapped in two next fragment of his soul disapeared.

A shining figure appeared before him giving him a hand. It was paladin of pure silver. His glowing armour was simbolizing true hope.

But when he touched his hand he disappeared into sparkles of light. Even he left him.

-Paladin of betrayal.-

Something dormant in the void said.

Then there was only silence...

For the past eight years.

/o/

There was a wide and ornamental hall heavly decorated in finest of metals.

High above were 41 flags gently flowing in the wind.

And above them were beautifully crafted chandeliers, which were hanged on the celling with countless stories pictured on them

In one was a silver Paladin leading charge towards the battle and behind him charged a group of unimaginable monstrosities.

That was only one of those equally unbelivable stories.

Doors to this hall were slightly opened that a litlle amount of pure light were radiating through them.

On the checkered floor there was red carpet looking like it was alive.

The carpet was leading to an obsidian throne whose backrest reached the very ceiling.

On this throne sat image od death.

Its image was imposing yet unmoving.

It was Waiting...

For the end of times...

It was a spiking image of the king asleep in mountain.

Then his empty eye sockets flashed in red flame.

Sleeping king has awoken.

/o/

[Wooden hut: Azerlisia Mountains next to the borders of the Empire of Baharuth]

In the far outskirts of the Empire not far from the border between Re-Estize and Azerlisia mountains was a wooden hut.

Hut in itself was nothing special. It was a simple ruined down by time abode for hunters or travelers.

It seemed that it belonged to no one. The windows seemed to be completly dusted and door to the hut was almost off its hinges.

Then window flashed in warm light. Somebody was here.

In the one single room was an alchemical table equipped in diverse flaks and samples standing on a copper rods.

In the next portion of the room was stone bed, that looked like it was serving a purpose of operation table.

On the table was a skeleton of a terrible monster. Even looking at its empty skull could make shiver run down your spine.

It was covered from the waist down with a blanked cleary it was being taken with care.

But there was a certain person dressed in theocracy caster robes completly not bothered by it. He was taking notes.

He looked at an ancient clock that was stricking an hour.

It was time. He quickly removed the pen and notes hiding them in his robe.

Then from the robe he taken out mithril pincers glowing faintly with holy magic.

The supposed caster came down to the table and opened a drawer that was hidden for someone who was not looking for it.

Inside was a potion oozing with negative energy. The whole drawer was already rotting from its effects.

He carefully reached out with pincer to grab the potion.

And then with little steps he putted it down on the operating table next to the monster.

-And now is the moment of truth.-

The masked caster said with muffled voice.

Then he qucikly opened up the potion it instantly started erupting in dark aura.

He equipped his pincers and carefully spilled the concoction on the Skeleton head.

Instantly negative energy exploded around him melting through wooden hut, turining it into dust.

The patient was cowered in black ooze and started lewitating. The stone bed below cracked in half.

Magic caster was kneeling from the sheer force alone.

The skeleton fragmented bones started mending inside the cocoon made from purplish slimey mass.

The endless waves of negative energy were becoming wider. And wider.

Then it stopped sudennly.

And skeleton turned upside down inside to cocoon like. It looked like a mokery of life itself.

It was mimicking birth of a new life.

Suddenly there was a wet cracking sound and skeleton landed on the ground with a wet disgusting thud.

Then it lifted itself up in a manner of dignified ruler.

The red flames in the eye sockets flashed once again.

/o/

This void... it felt terrible.

It was painful it was toring thorugh my soul.

And suddenly it stopped. I awoke looking at the sky.

I standed up at some point without realizing it.

Then came memories.

I quickly checked myself over. My hands are working fine, I squizzed them and opened them up,the tried to move my legs.

Looking at myself I saw my ribcage intact and when I touched my neckbones they were working like before. Everything was fine, was this just a dream?

Wait, how can I look at myself like that. I was naked, out of my gear. Emotional suppresion activated before I even started panicking.

Then i looked at my surroundings. I standed in some kind of sand? No, it was ash, I did it again didn't I?

Almost jumped out of my nonexisted skin when I looked at kneeling figure before me. He was holding my folded robes with my rings on top.

It was kind of embarassing staying naked and watching this bucket head waiting for me to respond so I touched my robes and autoequipped them.

They instantly appeared on my body. I also took the rings and putted them carefully on my fingers. I checked everything magically.

Well everything was working as it should. Then I looked at my ring of Ainz Ooal Gown. I dont know what I would do if I lost it.

Even emotional suppresion would not fix that.

I deeply sighed.

-Looks like I found myself in difficult situation. You helped me. Why?-

This was a valid question. Heteromorphs are not specifically loved in the new world as much. And those robes belong to those annoying casters.

-It is but a simple question, almighty one-

He remained kneeling and lookin at me through strange visor.

I get creepy feeling from him. Like when you walk some dark alley. In Tokyo lower districts that was a common occurence. And now he is even shaking. Dang it.

-I seek magical knowledge, the abyss of magic!-

He said it with such conviction that my emotional suppresion activated. Yeah looks like nut finally cracked. I almost trembled at that,

what the hell is wrong with all the casters in this world?! First this guy with a scar then next is this necromancer with ego bigger than the sun, and now him.

I shook my head. He tensed at that.

- I understand you would require magical knowledge as a payment for saving my life?-

He nodded. I cupped my chin in a thoutful pose trying to look dignified.

Well that's confirmed at least. But what I could give him that he would want? What if I give him something and he would be unhappy? If he helped 100 level

player like me like that, then he must have some countermeasures against me. Damn it!

Emotional suppresion activated.

Maybe I will ask him? Yes! Thats a good idea.

-Umu,what would you like as a reward for helping me?-

Damn it! I shouldn't say that, what if he thinks of me now less? Or he asks some me thing that I cannot gave him? I put myself in a corner, whatever he asks

of me I will must do acording to his wishes. I cannot be ungrateful because it will sully the name of Ainz Ooal Gown. There is not backing from it now.

He started reminding me of steaming teapot, no, not bukubukuchagama but real teapot. He was shaking in some kind of sick pleasure. I need to wash myself after that.

-I need... I need to ... Please great one allow me to peer into abyss of magic, allow me to become your student!-

My mind went blank. I almost tripped myself.

And emotional suppression activated. Well I didnt expected that one at all.

/o/

[Carne Village Momonga P.O.V]

Soo... where do I even start?

Everything at this point was a rookie mistake. And those are not any mistakes, but I am repeating myself every time I pull up my stupid head and get smacked by some

entity originating from this world. I never learn do I? Well It appears that not everything is all right. My bones, they ache like my bones back in the Japan.

But there is a different reasons for that. How do I say this so this is easy to understand...

When I finished the fight with my trump card to save my sorry bones my enemy used something on me that Fluder called a Wild magic curse.

I just learned that there is some kind of magic that i have no idea about. And well, i can't even cast it. Probably nobody can, only Dragon Lords can do that.

So... here I am walking on pristine cane with a mad man mumbling behind my back. This is no what I was expecting my life to be.

Just perfect. And now we are walking on the entrance to the ghost village. Yes, that exact village I chickened out with all of the inhabitants and Warrior Captain.

I had a peculiar reason for that. It appears I wasn't along for five days straight. My summon was literally losing sanity at this point.

Poor Red. When I first contacted him he jumped from the bushes and tackle hugged my leg. My emotional suppression worked out that like always.

Then I saw a peculiar sight. At the entrance of the village behind the closest homes came out Death knights. Well it would be understatement to say I was

alarmed at that. But it appears they are my summons. It was strange I do not remember summoning a death knight. Focusing myself on my network of summons and servants i noticed that they are all connected to a single certain jackass that tried to [Dominate undead] me and got blasted with the same treatment instead.

Looks like he might come in handy. They were bowing to me. It looked like some kind of grim procession fo the undead king. It gave me creeps because my cringe

side waked up at its own and I started walking with royal dignity. But it made me feel like those CEO's back from the earth visting the towns they demolished

for their sick goals and pleasures. No, I need to stop thinking about that. That past is gone. Now I am... I am... who the heck do I am?

Before I could formulate answer in my head, the elder lich that came down with me at some point escorted me towards elder house.

-Now the only thing is missing is the red carpet...-

I murmored in clear embarassment.

The doors opened and from them unrolled a red carpet. I should watch my mouth. I swear he did that on purpose to torment me!

I entered a house and a sight welcomed me. Before me kneeled overlord general I looked around the room and saw a chair and an wide sturdy wooden table.

I walked up behind the chair and flew my robes in a manner befiting a born ruler, it looked equally majestic and was necessary to not wrinkle my clothes.

Though they will never winkle because they are enchanted and divine quality. I was waiting for a while then realised everone was waiting for me.

With a magnamous gesture of my hand I gave them order to sit down.

-I am pleased with your show of loyality Khajit. Now you may rise and take a sit.-

They remained on their knees. Then overlord gereral speaked with his regal voice, well regal but not like me. I cleary outdid myself with my voice.

-My lord it would be unbecoming if lowly servants such as ourself would try to stand equal to you, especially in your mighty presence.-

Well and there we go. I got a strange feeling that I am gonna waste half of my time on pleasnatries.

-But would you ignore an order? It would be disrespectful if I would need to repeat myself even more.-

He twithched at that. Then he sat down on opposite side of the table. Got you! It is very exhausting even for me to waste time like that.

Couldn't we just speak like normal people? Hehh That's only my wishful thinking. Red is even worse, when I summoned him for past hour he was babbling

something about unworthiness and praised me every new conversation I gived up at some point.

I looked at my insane savior. I gave him some book that would keep him busy. It was normal experience book that any player below level 40 can read to learn 1 new spell, its also not like I am going on charity here. I also wanted to know if items like that can be used in the new world and did they work like in Yggdrasil.

But I am getting ahead of myself. And somebody already is drilling a hole in my head with his red burning eyes. Well it can't be helped then.

-I ask you again, are you not bitter that I dominated you?-

This question was as fundamental as is important, I need to know what effects my spells have on creatures in this world.

He looked at me like I grown a second head.

-It is simple you are my master and I am your servant supreme one. There is no other way.-

After talking with him a bit I realised that this guy for certain wasn't the same Khajit I meet in E-rantels cementery.

This was like phantom copy of him, twisted to serve my goals. In some way it was unerving, it would be my fate if his spells work, even though I am sure they

wouldn't, but there is always a small chance that everything will went wrong, and knowing my luck it is very probable.

Even now I am constantly monitoring my surroundings with Red. I do not know why, but always in the times when I less expect it, some dragon falls through my

metaphorical window and starts biting my boney ass. Its not like I can do something about it I am walking beacon that attracts mosquitos in size of a castle.

I released a tired sigh. What do I even tell those pesky adventurers at E-Rantel? That I was blown up far away with a spell so I just returned.

-Ridiculous.-

I was fidgeting with cane in my hands. I looked closer at it. It was a gift from Ulbert. The cane was made of polished and dark wood.

He said it was made from real [roots of yggdrasil]. It was an alchemical item that Tabula would strangle Ulbert if he heard him he used it on a cane.

I chuckled at that. In the handle on the cane below, were rings of gold with simbols from vodoo update. They were usless trinkets and were mostly a flavour text.

Anybody that holds such a cane have a comanding presence and demands respects from all creatures. Spirits, animals, living and unliving, demons and angles.

No matter the Npc it gives some kind of buff in charisma. Well I didn't figured it out yet. After moving my boney hand from the handle I seen a skull.

A skull of the little lamb with curvy horns protruding from sides of its skull proudly. In the eye sockets it was glowing with purple light.

Well it has its features and uses I guess. I just equipped it because it hurts to walk without it. Maybe it has negative energy healing effect? Eh?

Or maybe it makes me feel beter because it was from Ulbert?... I held it closer to my chest. If somebody would say this to me I would deny it till the end of times.

I returned to reality and saw everybody looking at me in anticipation. Even additional elder liches arrived for some reason.

Oh no! What do I do?! Did he said something? I supposed to say something?! Dang it!

Emotional suppression activated.

And indstead of having an meltdown i only shifted unconfortably in place.

-Hmm... yes that's fascinating, please procced... and I also would like to know how did you made your summons permament?-

I asked hopefully.

-Ahh! Yes my lord now I understand! Your wishes will be respected and plans will be adjusted according to your will! Oh supreme one,

the statement that you think those servant actions are fascinating is rewarding indeed I will forever remember this praise in my mind!-

He went out on to rambling fit about things that I have no idea about but I nodded still. I do not want to look like some incopetent boss that sleeps on meetings.

-About undead summons. Well the answer is pretty simple. I used corpses to tie those glorius beings to a mortal plane!-

I looked at Fluder to get some help from him, but he was in the similar state of singing praises about me or just cackling maniacaly,

while holding book that i gave him like a baby and opening it like checking if it is still there. Why do I must surround myself with this insanity.

The longer I stayed with them the longer I lost my nonexistent braincells I need to get out of here!

-Umu, yes umu... Umu! Red! I would like to check the items I ordered you to collect from cementery.-

Red appeared before me in a puff of smoke holding an ominous orb. I was almost sure Khajit eyes widen at that. But it must been my mind playing tricks.

I took it from him and get an irresistable feeling I should attach it to my heart.

Was this some of mental attack? Dang it, I fell for it! No... wait I can resist it. Thank god.

-[All apraisal magic item]-

-Umu. Thats interesting.-

The orb in real was not an orb but a jewel. Item was named [Jewel of Death]. Kind of cool. Maybe I place it on my shelf.

Anyway, this item takes negative energy generated from around to create undead. But what interested me the most was its main use.

It says Undead creation, but I got a feeling this does not work like my abilities to create undead. But... create a completly new kind of undead.

Maybe Khajit couldn't use it properly because of his power level? What's even stranger he doesn't seem to be as strong as other overlords from yggdrasil.

In some way he is... just different. But i can't place my finger on it.

I standed up and held up the jewel above my burning eye sockets. They flashed brighter for a second.

-With this... reality can be whatever I want.-

-Yeeeeeessss-

Something said in pure ecstasy.

-Yyyyyhhhh?!-

/o/

[Southern border of The Slane Theocracy]

Through the endless plains was traveling a certain caravan. From a perspective it looked like typical merchant caravan, that carried various cages with animals.

But in the cages there were no animals. They were elves. Mulitated, dirty, dresed up i sacks without a single bit of hope in their eyes.

The carts were rolling slowly like a in procession.

Up the front carts there were two man sitting on the wooden bar, they were dressed in the colours of Slane Theocracy.

One of them was smoking pipe and looking very stoned. He had so bushy beard it almost covered whole of his face that was partially hidden under the hood.

The second one was a young man that had white plae skin and face carved out of stone that had a constant scowl.

The younger one looked at his not responding friend and grinned.

-I guess all is mine now.-

He taken his reins and given them to his companion. He had absolutely no reaction at all. The carts stopped.

-Damn, this black dust is really messing with people-

He mused.

Then got up and turned towards clearly too small cells and took out his baton and started rolling it over the bars creating a disturbing sound.

He was clearly enjoying himself. Clementine would be proud of the smile he was holding, he wiggled his fingers like he tried to pick something.

And pulled up the one of the cages and dragged from it young elf child, if fell face down to the dirt and tried to crawl herself out of his reach.

He kicked her and she spun around in the air, landing in the roadside ditch. She looked like most of the elves. She had golden hair and androgynous

face that was simply beautiful. She spat her teeth out and crawled onto her back looking at her abductor.

-Oh, dont be so mad your teeth gonna grow back.. I think.-

He smiled even wider.

-Well at least that's what happened last time when we played together. You will earn me a good money on the auction with a talent like that.-

He came down the ditch with audiable crunch in the mud below, then cringed in disgust.

Elven girl didn't wasted time and kicked him in his private place and runned back up the hill.

-You little shit! I am gonna skin you alive!-

He roared in pure rage.

Her feet didn't got her far enough and she tripped on protruding stone crushing into the ground with audiable crack.

Slaver pulled himself together and looked down at the seemingly unconcious girl.

-I hope you are not dead! I went too far to lose stock like you this easily!-

He screeched and reached to grab her by hair.

Then a red lightning erupted from her.

Disgusting pig flew upwards for several meters like some ragdoll and landed with a thud next to the cart.

His friend didn't reacted at all dumbly looking ahead and his pipe feel out of his mouth without him reacting as well.

The girl got up from the ground and dusted herself off the dirt. Then she walked up to the carts with deliberate steps.

She lifted her hand and said.

-[Wild magic:Transience]-

Her hand glowed bright red and she looked a bit paler, but only for a while. Then lock rusted away, it was like years passed in seconds.

The elves couldn't believed that at first. But they quickly moved out and poured on to the road making kind of crowd.

Some were laughing like Fluder Paradyne likes to do, the others pinced themselves not believing it was real. Some upstart runned towards nearby forest.

When a while faded all of them started looking at the girl that had been quiet this whole time with her head down.

She was quietly gigling, then laughing then finally cackling like a madwoman.

Then rows of rows of red lightning bursted out out her fingers towards the sky painting the sky red.

-Power!-

She cackled.

-UNLIMITED POWER!-

And the new queen of calamity was born.

Note from the author: Holy fuck i am totally drained and almost dead. Toss a rewiew or something.
