Judy POV

It's been forever but likes continue

I am still looking for something on Nick or Katheryn Forester. It looks like they are law-binding foxes. I can't believe that's true. There has to be something I know they will mess up. They can't avoid breaking the law forever. They do something and I will get it when either Nick or Katheryn do it. I have a feeling that Nick's going to do it. If it weren't for his family he would be a con artist. I could get him on that if that was the case. Yet it isn't the case and it's driving me crazy. I tap my right foot only if I could prove that Nick stole Nelson's art. That has proven to be difficult. I hate thinking about Katheryn's words and don't want her to be right. I wish I could bring justice for Nelson. I want his business to be successful, and I don't want Nick to take on the clients that he deserves. I don't trust Nick's art skills but I do trust Nelson's. I can see his passion and brought his art. I hope it works out for him even with Nick in the way. I love the artwork that Nelson made for me. It's me as a police officer which I proudly place on my desk. Before heading to work I'm getting coffee and a donut. I found this wonderful bakery and it will be my bakery of choice. Eating at this bakery reminds me of home. Bunburrow does have good bakeries. I went to many growing up in Bunnyburrow. They helped us by buying our crops and we support their business. It makes Bunnyburrow run well. This bakery is run by sheep and by a loving couple. Amber and James Cedrone. They are thirty-three and have been running their business for twelve years. They have three kids two boys and a girl.

"Officer Hopps is good to see you," Amber said

"It's good to see Amber and James," I say

I'm lucky there's no line and others enjoy what they order. I'm going to enjoy my order as well. I always get the same coffee but change my donut depending on my feelings. I like all sorts of donuts and always have. It was an easy treat my parents could get. It was always a joy. Now I can enjoy donuts as much as I want to.

"What are you in the mood for today?" James asked

"I would like my regular drink and sprinkle chocolate doughnuts with cherry filling."

"Coming right up," Amber said

I pay for my coffee and doughnut letting them keep the change. I do that for businesses I like a lot and want to support. I take a seat at a single table and by a window. I like sitting by a window or in a booth seat. It's a cold day and mammals are going about their day. There's not a lot of mammals since it's early. My coffee and doughnut come after a few minutes.

"Thank you," I say

I take a sip of my coffee and it's refreshing. The coffee is great and you can tell they put a lot of passion into making it. I take a bite from one of the doughnuts. It's soft and the icing melts in your mouth. The icing isn't runny like other doughnuts I have. Those doughnuts are still good, just messy. Clawhauser loves all doughnuts of course. Every day you see him with a box of doughnuts. I could never eat that many. I take a few sips and eat a doughnut. The door opens up and another family comes in. I see that they're a rabbit family.

"Are you a police officer for real?"

I look down to see a young doe who looks to be seven or so. She has blue eyes and brown fur. She wears a floral shirt and a long purple skirt. She looks happy to see me and I'm happy to see her. I always have police stickers on me for kits love them. Even some teens and adults love them.

"Yes, I am."

"That's cool, and do you arrest bad guys?"

"I do," I say "for I want to make a world a better place."

I do arrest bad guys but not as many as I like. It feels like I'm giving out more parking tickets than making the world a better place. No one likes getting a parking ticket and I heard many harsh words from mammals getting a parking ticket. I hate getting them those I have only gotten a few parking tickets. I give her a police sticker and she lights up.

"Thank you, Officer Hopps. What's like working with predators?"

"You're welcome and I like working with them," I say "I'm friends with some of them."

"Time to get your sweet and say goodbye to the young lady."

"Bye Officer Hopps."

"Bye," I say

I would guess her father takes her back to her family. I heard parents whisper to each other and I hear weird. I get that a lot among other things from rabbits and hares. The majority don't like that I did something a rabbit or hare wouldn't normally do. That's not normal and something that shouldn't be looked up to. I see the look on the parent's faces that I have seen on many rabbits and hares. Also on some other small preys.

"I'm making the world a better place," I whisper to myself.

I want to make the world a better place. To show rabbits and hares that they don't just have to be farmers. That they can be what they want to be. I hope me being a cop changes that and in the future, we're more than what others see us as. I finish my coffee and doughnuts a few minutes later.

"Today I will arrest bad guys and make the world a better place," I say to myself

I let out a big sigh and today been parking duty. I have been giving them out and of course, they're not happy. Once again I hear their unhappy thoughts about their tickets. I try to tune them out. This isn't how I imagined how I would make the world a better place. It feels like I'm giving out more tickets than making the world a better place.

"It has to be better than this," I say

I don't want to spend every day giving out parking tickets and arresting minor criminals. I want to arrest those who will cause the most harm. Maybe I can solve a murder and arrest a killer. That would make the world a better place. I can make Zootopia a safer place. I'll show those who doubt me that I'm a great police officer.

"It will be better than this," I say

It will be better I just have to wait for it. I won't let this boring parking duty and low criminals weigh me down. I will make the world a better place. I take a deep breath and have a smile on my face. I drive the parking duty car and give out more tickets. I see the same blue car again.

"Geez I been giving this one many tickets," I say "I think it's time to impound it."

I don't know how this car has this many tickets. Someone must be driving it but still leaving it for long periods. I park my car and head to give out another ticket. I take out my phone to call a tow company. When I see the trunk has been hit. Someone hit the trunk and didn't report it. Urgh now I have to deal with that. As I get close to the trunk to see the damage I pick up gross scent. The smell makes me almost puke. I manage to lift the trunk with no trouble and I fall once I open it. There's a dead red vixen inside the trunk. I do let out a sort of scream and others see her as well. I found a crime scene and this a moment I have been waiting for.

"Alright folks move along this a crime scene," I say

I see that she died due to a single shot in the head. I see a note attached to her and it's fancy writing. I see Euryism Field the Underworld killer got her. How did a fox like her end up somewhere good? No matter that's not what is important right now. I take out my phone and call for backup.

Of course, they come and a short time later a crime scene is set up. Mammals want to look but they're turned away. The street is temporarily cut off until we finish up. It won't take long to do so. I head over to the medical examiner. Her name is Mandy Hall and she's a cheetah. She's a few years older than me.

"So how long has she been dead?" I ask

"Only for a few days," Mandy said

I know that the Underworld Killer wasn't driving the car he's not stupid. If he was he would have been arrested by now. Too bad we want to take this serial killer down. He's not the worst serial killer that Zootopia has had. But he's the only current one. Mammals have all sorts of theories about him. He's talked about in crime shows and whatnot.

I "I would imagine the same gun is used or type," I say

"It seems that way for the bullet hole made from a pistol closed ranged," Mandy said

From what I understand he does that to innocent victims so they face no pain. For they deserve to face no pain in their end. They probably don't even realize what's about to happen. Or they realize it only for a few moments. So the Underworld killer isn't a psychopath or sociopath. Or he can be hiding it so well. I don't believe he is for it doesn't feel like that. Also, Catherynne doesn't think so either. Why he's killing I have no idea. Chief Bogo walks over to us.

"So he has stuck again," Idris said "City hall not going to like this. Lionheart is going to give me an earful."

The Underworld killer hasn't struck for a while. He doesn't truly have a pattern so that makes it difficult to find him. How does he choose his victims? Why does he choose them? How does he track them done? How does he know? So many questions we have and few answers. Chief Bogo let out a sigh and I heard a bitter tone in voice. He doesn't like Lionheart that's clear to see. I like him because he gave me a job here. He believed me and I'm going to show him what I'm capable of.

"They just don't understand," Mandy said "Especially for Lionheart he should stick to mayor duties."

"We agree with that and Officer Trunk retired so a new….."

"I can take the case, sir," I say

"Fine, Officer Hopps I will assign you to your first major case," Idris said

"Thank you sir I won't let you down," I say

"I'll have to wait and see." Idris said "The case file will be at your desk. Get what you need here and then go back to precinct one."

"Will do sir!" I say

Chief Bogo walks away he's heading back to precinct one. I got assigned to my first official case. I knew that was going to happen. I'm happy right now and I'm going to solve this case. Not alone of course, but I can do it. I will show Chief Bogo and all those who doubt me that I'm a great police officer. I take out my notepad and write down the information that I need. I wonder where she was killed. She wasn't killed in the trunk or by it. There would be more blood splatter. And there's no blood splatter here. She could have been killed in any district and brought here. I look to see a bit of dried dirt on her. So she would been killed around some dirt. What kind of dirt I don't know and there's a difference for dirt.

"Ahh Officer Hopps we finally get to meet."

Turning around I see a Jackrabbit. He looks older than me and taller than me by a few inches. He has silver-gray fur with black stripes on his cheeks and ears. He has light blue eyes. He wears a navy blue shirt, plant pants, boots, and gloves. He's part crime scene investigator. I didn't know there was another rabbit on that part of the force.

"Mine name is Jack Savage," Jack said

"Your name sounds like James Bond," I say

"Yeah I get that a lot," Jack said

Jack has this nice smile and we laugh. His name does sound like James Bond. I enjoyed the books and movies. I think that he's a cool spy. I look at Jack and he would make a good spy. He's got the look of one. I wonder how long Jack has been a crime scene investigator.

"So how long have you worked Jack for ZPD?" I ask

"Only for a week," Jack said "I've always been interested in the science of solving a crime. As much as I wrote about being a spy I don't have what it takes to be one or a cop. But you do Officer Hopps. I can't wait to see how your career unfolds.

So he hasn't been on the job for long and I don't doubt he's going to be great at it. He has this smart look to him. He has a slim build and I don't blame him. Becoming a police officer took a lot of work for me. He'll help ZPD in his way and I can't wait to see how he will do it.

"Thank you, Mr. Savage. Well, you got a long career ahead of you." I say "I'll let you do your job. I'll track down the car."

I'm glad that he believes in me and I believe in him. Jack shakes his head and he heads over to the body. He begins his job and he's got the look he's got the passion. I heard quick whispers of a quick small prayer and he feels sorry for her. I'm surprised that he truly means it. I couldn't do it for someone like her. I look up the plate number and the car. Seeing that the car belongs to a red fox named Tristain Oakson and he's thirty years old. He has a record and I'm not surprised by that. It's petty theft no serious crimes. He must be related to Nick.

"Her name is Ruby Redfur and she's been missing for about two months," Jack said

"I have seen her posters around," I say

How does Jack care about something like that? I have seen her posters but paid little attention to them. But looking closely now she's Ruby Redfur. I don't think that the Underworld Killer was keeping her for almost two months. That's not his style. He did it to make it difficult to track down those it could possible for him. He still wants to kill for a reason. I don't think he's evil but still, how does he deal with the guilt? You'll have to feel it for killing innocent mammals. He should feel some guilt based on his actions. But that hasn't stopped him from turning himself in.

"Yeah, and it's sad that her loved ones are getting bad news."

"Yes it's sad," I say

Even them they don't deserve news like this. It's not going to be easy to tell them this news. But it has to be done. I'll take to her family and start from there.

"So where do you think she was killed?" I ask

"I would say Meadowlands this dirt on her looks to come from there." Jack said, "It has a floral smell to it. I smell it all the time."

"So you're from Meadowlands," I say

"Yep born and raised there." Jack said, "It's a good district to live in."

Yeah, I can believe that and Meadowlands is a beautiful one. Maybe someday I'll move there or I can want something different. Did the Underworld Killer give her a peaceful place to die? Did she deserve such a fate? I look up Ruby Redfur and she has no record and has closed records from her youth.

"Make sense it's a beautiful district," I say

"I'll invite you to my home someday Miss Hopps," Jack said "Obviously it's not a date just a friendly gathering."

"That would be fun," I say "After work let's get each other phone numbers."

"Right," Jack said

First, we have to focus on work and I would like to get to know Jack more. I can see us becoming good friends. My parents would like that. They want me to have many rabbits, hares, and prey friends that I will have a rabbit or hare lover. That I don't want to focus on but my career. Now I was allowed to solve a real case and show I can be a police officer. I won't fail this case.

"I'll be heading back to precinct one to work and to wait for your findings," I say

"They'll be the first ones to come," Jack said

The Underworld Killer is a top case that ZPD and Zootopia want to solve. Also the Underworld Killer only current serial killer like him. There's nothing else I can do here and I need to look up stuff to get the case going for me. First I have to talk to Ruby's family. I am getting that news out of the way to focus on the case. So I head back to precinct one.

Currently, we're one of the rooms where we can talk to witnesses or their loved ones. It's private so we can give out sensitive information. The Redfur's that gathered are her parents and her siblings. She has five of them four sisters and a brother. They look to be around her age. Her parents look to be around my parent's age.

"What news do you have Officer Hopps,"

"You're daughter was found dead she is the Underworld Killer's latest victim," I say

The words of this news aren't too difficult to say after all. The news is sad but I don't find it to be not sad to tell. It's hard to explain. The news does upset them of course, they heard that a loved one is dead and that she was murdered.

"I'm sorry."

"No, it can't be true," Susan said

"Why would he choose her," Erick said

Erick holds his wife's paws and holds them close to his heart. I see such care in his eyes. It reminds me of my parents. I can't believe I think that for them. Her siblings hug each other. Seeing such a sight reminds me of a dark event in my past.

"Well she was innocent," I say

"For our sister was a good vixen," Janice said

I have also looked into her family, and they have no records. They only have a few parking tickets other than that they have nothing on them. They're law-binding civilians or at least they haven't been caught. We just have to wait and see.

"So was Tristain Oakson her boyfriend?" I ask

"They broke up a year ago," Jake said "He showed his character and Ruby didn't like it."

"So why would she be found in the back of his trunk?" I ask

"He must be part of the reason why she disappeared," Janice said

I guess I have to look into her disappearance first somehow she got connected to the Underworld Killer. Somehow the Underworld Killer found out about her. There has to be something that she did. I'll ask Tristin Oakson I doubt that he'll be truthful. They tell me about the day Ruby disappeared. It was a normal day like most mammals who go missing. She came home after work. I have to check in with her work. Maybe that's how the Underworld Killer got to her. She worked at a bakery and wanted to attend a culinary school. Sounds like she could bake and cook. So I'll stop by the bakery after this. She took some time for herself before heading out to volunteer. So that's something to look up as well. She didn't come to the family dinner and they were worried. After discovering that she never came on they reported her missing. It took some time for an officer to take the case. A missing fox isn't on the top of our list. I write down what I need.

"Alright, I'll look at this," I say

"It's about time,"

I hear that whisper and they leave without saying another word. No such thanks comes from them for me taking the case. I should focus on this part of the case. Then I can solve the Underworld Killer case. Then I will show everyone who doubts me. After they gone I heard over to my desk. I look up at the bakery and I haven't been there before. So I have to try it out. I could get a nice treat while I'm there. I hear Bridget and Cecelia walk over to my desk.

"I heard that you have taken the Underworld Killer case," Bridget said

"Chief Bogo assigned me to the case," I say

"He assigned you an important one." Cecelia said, "Maybe fresh eyes and mind can finally solve it."

"I know I can," I say

I'm shaming the other officers who took this case. For they're great officers I'm sure of that. This Underworld killer is proving to be difficult to track down. I have fate that I will be the one to solve the case. It's going to be great and mammals are going to be thrilled. The first rabbit officer solves a serial killer case that ZPD has unsolved for many years. The press is going to be good for Zootopia.

"That's the spirit and if you need any help you know who to ask." Cecelia said '

"I know," I say

I don't have an official partner, so I will mostly work on the case alone. As much as I want to solve it on my own I will need help. I'm going to solve it mostly on my own. Cecelia and Bridget leave. They have their cases to solve. Before heading out I ensure I have my notebook and carrot pen. My carrot pen works surprisingly well. I can write things down and record things. So I head out to the bakery.

This bakery is popular, and there's a long line. So I have to keep that in mind. It's too busy to ask them some questions. I look up at the hours and I'll wait until closing time. I see Ruby's missing poster. So they care about her and haven't thought she just ran off. So I head to my car and look up the case.

"It all started with Madelyn Wulf, a…sicko," I say

I can't repeat that word it's horrible. I'm glad that I don't have to deal with those crimes. I don't know how Ceceli, Bridget, and other officers pawdle cases like that daily. I can only watch the shows based on officers who take cases like that. I couldn't deal with that every day. My own family had to deal with that. Bunnyburrow has criminals like that. They're hated with a passion and for good reason. Poor Jude and poor the other victims. Especially for Brad who had it bad and changed his life forever. I might as well talk to the other victims' families first. First is Madelyn Wulf and I remember her. She was a kit photographer after The Wilde's were fired. They shouldn't been hired in the first place. How could they have trusted them? His first victim went to the Field of Punishment. I look up Madelyn Wulf and I'm shocked by what she has done. She's one of the worst criminals and I find mammals like that are monsters. I never thought a wolf would come up with that trickery. So talking to her family won't do much but it has to be done.

Well, I was right her family doesn't care about what happened to her. Madelyn was dead to them when they discovered she was a monster. They don't know who killed her and I could tell that they were glad. I suppose I am too monsters like them deserve to fade. The other victims had the same views and I don't blame them. I don't think they had anything to do with it. The Underworld Killer chose her because of her crime and wanted to end her permanently. I look at the crime scene photos and see nothing that stands out. The apartment room was torn down after it was cleared. No one wanted to live in a room tainted like that. I would hate discovering her sick photos. That must have been horrible for Cecelia and Bridget. I admire their great courage. So Madelyn is a lost cause. The next one is a robber who shot and almost killed someone. All because he wanted to act tough. So I head off and I get no new information. Same for the third victim a kit abuser. But I still ask just in case. There can be new information. Talking to them I don't think they're connected to The Underworld killer or it hasn't been found out yet. As I investigate I can figure it out. For now, they don't have a connection. Speaking of connection there's someone can talk to. Those I don't want to talk to him.

"Why did it have to be him?" I say

I have to run into Nick Forester and talk to him again. Our last meeting didn't go well. I know he's going to be the same. I just have to do it and get it over with. I'll have to talk to those who are at the bakery later. So I heard out to Nick and Catheryn's business.

I find Nick selling his art on the street and the good question is if it's his art. I still haven't been able to prove that Nick has stolen art from Nelson Marsh. I wish that I could help out Mr. Marsh faster for he's a great artist. Nick looks at me and gives me his smirk.

"Why it's Officer Cottontail," Nick said

"If I could prove you were selling stolen art."

"Nelson is playing you like a fiddle I don't steal his art." Nick said, "He's doing this out of jealousy and anger. I made the art years ago. He likes to do similar things to dup fools like you."

I knew this wasn't going to go well Nick knows how to push my buttons. This is a fun game to him I can see it in his eyes. I won't play into his game. I have a job to do and he won't get in the way. I can solve the Underworld Killer case.

"Do you know Ruby Redfur?' I ask

"I know everyone in Zootopia," Nick laughed "I don't know every fox in Zootopia. Do you know every rabbit in Bunnyburrow?"

There he goes again trying to push me and Nick thinks he's so funny. There are fewer foxes so there's a greater chance he knows another fox. I can't know every rabbit is impossible for there are so many of us. I lightly tap my foot.

"Of course not it's impossible," I say

"So you took the Underworld killer case," Nick said

"Chief Bogo assigned it to me," I say

Geez Nick that eerily that I took the Underworld Killer case. It hasn't been on the news yet. Those it will be on the news tonight. Chief Bogo will bring it up and city hall won't be happy. Mayor Lionheart will be on him until the case gets solved. Ruby could be connected to any case. I could have taken her missing mammal case.

"Your face reads I'm going solve this huge case easily and I will show those who doubt me that I can be a cop," Nick said in a cheerful mocking voice "Then I can make the world a better place."

How dare he mock me like that I hate the smirk on his face. He's doing it again like he did the first time we met. That just annoys me so much. How could he read my face so easily? I can read that he is enjoying this so much. I got to get him on something to get that dumb smirk on his face. There's got to be something he has done. Something to get payback on him.

"At least I can make the world a better place," I say

"Good for you," Nick said "Anyway I can't help you I don't know who Ruby is. I was hoping for her safe return."

I suppose anyone would want that even them would hate news like this. I still have to figure out why Ruby was targeted and how she got the placement she was sent to. I still have doubts about that. I don't see how she would get that afterlife.

"Thank you," I say "We don't like news like that."

There has to be something I can get Nick on. For a someone like him does a crime. I will discover it and make him pay for being rude to me. To pay for the crime he committed. I will discover it and solve the Underworld Killer case.

"We don't and anything else Carrots?"

"No, and if anything comes up call me," I say

I paw him my card to Nick and he accepts it. There's nothing I can do right now. So I will head back to precinct one. To figure out so more things before heading home. Nick gives me his smirk and I'm so going to get him. I walk away and head back back precinct one with determined walk.

So far I have discovered nothing new on the old part of the case. So far The Underworld Killer has done his crime well to get away with it. At least until I figure out the case. I look up at the TV Chief Bogo is at a press conference. He's going to talk about the Underworld Killer. Chief Bogo looks confident and I would be nervous.

"Chief Bogo there was a body discovered can you say who it was and what happened."

"Yes there was a body discovered and the Underworld Killer has struck again," Chief Bogo said

That gets talked about and many mammals will be talking about it. Agreeing with me that a fox doesn't believe in Euryism Fields. Reports react to news like a reporter would. There are so many questions. Like how ZPD hasn't arrested him or figured him out. They don't know how hard it is to solve certain cases. About who the latest victim is and where they ended up. Chief Bogo has kept that under wraps for now. I suppose that is a good idea.

"So since the last officer who took the case retired what officer took the case?"

"Officer Hopps has taken the case." Chief Bogo said

"Do you think a rookie a rabbit can solve this case that veteran cops haven't solved?"

"I do believe that Officer Hopps can solve it and she's not alone." Chief Bogo said

At least Chief Bogo does believe in me and it's not fake. That also gets the reporters talking and all are surprised by the news. I knew that they would be for they can't gasp what I can do. I grip a pen tightly. Prey seems to believe me more and like that prey is taking the case. But the predators do not, of course, them would do that sort of thing. I'm going to prove them wrong.

Author Note, back again and won't do a lot of a note since a lot don't read this anymore. Judy finally took the case and Nick will be part of it. I don't think he's going to commit in this universe. I have been having trouble figuring out what small crime he does to make Judy help him haha. He's still playing her. She's going to be more of a bigot since more mature story. Jack Savage if a spy doesn't work in the story Jack writes about it and is a crime scene investigator.
