Chapter 30: Jay and Natsu vs Sting and Rouge
Jay felt his muscles tense in anticipation as he walked out down the long hallway along with Natsu. The sounds of the cheering crowd fueled the energy that was running through Jay's body. The promise of a good battle electrified every nerve across Jay's body, a determined look was on his face as he remembered what he was fighting for. In just a short amount of time Jay had changed and it was thanks to the influence of Fairy Tail.
Jay used to fight for himself, he fought to be the best and to prove he was strong. Now Jay fought for something other than himself. After the second day of the Grand Magic games, Jay started to fight for Yukino's home. Seeing and observing how Fairy Tail did things also gave Jay a new perspective on how a proper guild should act. Fairy Tail supported one another win or lose, it didn't matter if they were the best as long as everyone felt welcomed and accepted. Watching Fairy Tail taught Jay to fight for those he loved and that made him stronger. Walking down the hallway Jay recalled the image of Lucy badly beaten by his old guildmate. Seeing Minerva cruelly beating Lucy just to inflict pain was the final straw for Jay, he quit Sabertooth and now was about to fight against his old guild.
"Sabertooth is going to pay" stated Natsu in an angry tone as he walked beside Jay. Jay smiled at his partner in the upcoming team battle, he couldn't agree more with the fire dragon slayer.
"You got that right, I can't wait to show Sting and Rouge who the real weaklings are" responded Jay, thinking that he was going to make Sabertooth regret ever hurting his family. After Jay said these words, he and Natsu walked out into the arena. When Jay and Natsu walked into the arena, the crowd fell silent. Everyone in the crowd was on the edge of their seats as the four dragon slayers stared each other down.
"At long last, we've come to the battle that everyone has been waiting for. One guild was considered the strongest in Fiore seven years ago" stated the announcer while the crowd waited for the highly anticipated match to start. Jay knew that the excitement that was in the air was also because of his sudden change in guilds. Suddenly changing guilds in the middle of the grand magic games was unheard off, everyone in the crowd was wondering if Jay made the right decision.
"The other guild currently holds the title" stated the announcer, the excitement from the crowd building since the fight was about to begin. Glancing over to his old guild, Jay could see the glares he was receiving. Jay's old guildmates were pissed at his betrayal and that made Jay smile. If they were mad now, then they were going to be livid once the match was over.
"This is going to be a great match. It's Fairy Tail's Natsu and Jay versus Sabretooth's Sting and Rouge" stated the announcer. Sting and Rouge smirked at Jay; it was obvious they were looking forward to teaching him a lesson in respect. The twin dragon slayers of Sabertooth weren't the only ones smirking, Jay and Natsu also intended to teach a lesson.
"You are all about to witness a battle of epic proportions. These aren't just any wizards, there dragon slayers" stated the announcer while the crowd began to cheer for the start of the battle.
Glaring at Sting and Rouge, Jay only had one thing to feel regret about. Jay didn't care that he was about to humiliate Sting and Rouge in front of a large crowd, with their behavior he couldn't care about their past relationship as guildmates. The only thing that Jay felt regret about was that he was going to make Lector and Frosh watch as he beat their best friends. Lector and Frosh were the only kind members of Sabertooth, they didn't deserve to watch their best friends being beaten but that was what was going to happen.
"I've been looking forward to this all my life" stated Sting with an excited smile while he stared down Natsu.
"I apologize if you're disappointed Rouge since I took Gajeel's place. I know how much you've wanted to prove yourself against your idol, but you are going to have to settle with me" stated Jay with a smile.
"It doesn't matter who I face. In the end the result will be the same" responded Rouge, thinking that Jay was a fool to go against the power of Sabertooth. The cheering of the crowd continued to build as the four dragon slayers tensed up, waiting for the start of the battle.
"Go give them a thrashing you guys" stated Gray with a smirk.
"Win this one for Fairy Tail" shouted Erza, confident that her guildmates would fight their hardest to win.
"You can do this Jay and Natsu! We believe in you" shouted Lisanna.
"Hehe so you say Jay's name first huh Lisanna? Is Jay that important to you already" asked Cana in a teasing tone while Lisanna blushed at these words.
"I-it's not like that! I care for Natsu just as much as Jay" responded Lisanna while she blushed crimson. Lisanna still wasn't use to people teasing her about her relationship with Jay, it was going to take some time before her first reaction wasn't to blush.
"She loves him" responded Happy, never missing the opportunity to tease one of his friends.
"Happy" responded Lisanna in an embarrassed tone while she continued to blush crimson.
"Hehe don't be embarrassed Lisanna; I think it's really cute how much you love Jay" responded Mira in her signature sweet tone. Mira was happy for Lisanna, seeing her sister being in love was adorable in Mira's opinion. Jay and Lisanna made a very cute couple, Mira just hoped Jay didn't do anything stupid to break Lisanna's heart. It would be a shame if Mira was forced to kill Jay.
"You're going to regret quitting the guild" stated Sting as he turned his attention from Natsu to Jay.
"You left the strongest guild in the kingdom for a weak guild like Fairy Tail. That doesn't even begin to make sense" stated Sting while he glared at Jay.
"The fact you don't get why I joined Fairy Tail is exactly why I quit Sabertooth. Sabertooth is just obsessed with winning and being the best, things are different in Fairy Tail" responded Jay while Natsu nodded his head in agreement.
"That's right, in Fairy Tail everyone is family" responded Natsu with a smirk.
"And you just harmed that family with the stunt Minerva pulled in the Naval Battle" responded Jay, feeling a fresh surge of anger flow through him when he remembered how badly beaten Lucy was after Minerva was done torturing her.
"This is it ladies and gentlemen! The dragon slayers are on the battlefield! The only question is who will be triumphant, the Faries or the Tigers" shouted the announcer while the excitement through the arena continued to build. As he prepared for the battle to begin, Jay spared a glance into the crowd. Looking into the crowd, Jay locked eyes with his former guild master. Jiemma was scowling at Jay and Jay couldn't wait to force him to watch his guild lose in front of the entire kingdom.
"Let the match begin" shouted the announcer, the crowd watching to see who would make the first move.
"You ready" asked Sting, eager to prove he had surpassed Natsu and teach Jay a lesson.
"Yah" responded Rouge, confidant in his strength. After Rouge said these words he charged forward alongside Sting. Just after Sting and Rouge began to rush towards Jay and Natsu, they were met with surprise since Jay and Natsu were already on top of them.
Surprised that Jay and Natsu had started the match in such an aggressive way, Sting and Rouge couldn't react in time. While Jay punched Rouge in the jaw, Natsu did the same to Sting. The strong punch sent Sting backwards and Natsu quickly delivered a powerful kick as well. Landing some distance away from the fire dragon slayer, Sting channeled his magical power.
"White Dragon Roar" shouted Sting as he fired his powerful breath attack towards Natsu. For a moment Jay was worried that Natsu wasn't going to be able to dodge Sting's attack. Jay knew from experience that Sting's roar attack was a powerful laser, it was a difficult thing to dodge from a short distance.
"A laser" asked Natsu in a surprised tone while he narrowly dodged the powerful laser. Even though his attack had missed Natsu, Sting was determined to cause some damage. Moving his head, Sting's attack crashed towards Jay.
"You're going to have to do better than that" shouted Jay as he jumped out of the way. Maybe Sting's move might have worked against Natsu, but Jay had seen Sting pull this move many times before. Landing back on the ground, Jay noticed that he had another attack to deal with.
"Shadow Dragon Slash" yelled Rouge, his fist being covered with powerful dark energy. Even though he didn't have time to dodge, Jay wasn't fazed by the incoming attack.
"Bring it on" stated Jay with a confidant smirk as he channeled his magical power. Summoning magical power into his fist, Jay punched forward and connected with Rouge's fist.
"Deep Sea Fist" yelled Jay while his fist crashed into Rouge's. Rouge was shocked when his attack was easily cancelled by Jay's but that wasn't the end of it. Jay smirked at Rouge as he reached forward and grabbed onto his forearm. With a strong grip, Jay used all of his strength to toss Rouge away. Sting watched as Rouge crashed into the ground, large cloud of smoke being kicked up thanks to the impact.
"Rouge" shouted Sting, shocked that the match was so far one sided and not in their favor. Suddenly Natsu flew out of the cloud of smoke, he was holding onto Rouge's face. Sting didn't have any time to react, Natsu forced Rouge to crash into his teammate. While Sting and Rouge flew backwards, Natsu ignited his flames onto the hand that was still holding onto Rouge's face.
"Fire Dragon Wing Attack" shouted Natsu while his attack sent Sting and Rouge flying high into the air.
"My turn" stated Jay with a large smile as he channeled his magical power.
"Water Dragon Kraken Strike" yelled Jay as two extendable whips made of water covered his arms. Using the extendable water whips, Jay lifted his arms which made the water whips raise above Sting and Rouge who were still airborne. With a smirk spread across his face, Jay brought his arms down. Bringing his arms down, the water whips slammed into Sting and Rouge which made them crash into the ground.
"Wow I can't believe what is happening right before my very eyes! The illustrious Sting and Rouge, the dragons slayers from Sabertooth have been overwhelmed by Fairy Tail" shouted the announcer, shocked with how the match was going so far. The members from Fairy Tail watching from the crowd cheered for Jay and Natsu, they were proud of the way they were representing the guild.
"You two can always give up now, it would save some time" stated Jay with a smirk while Sting and Rouge stood up.
"This match is just getting started. I'm glad you are putting up this much of a fight, it makes it more fun" responded Sting, showing that he was far from beaten. Jay was about to continue his assault on his former guildmates, but Natsu seemed to want to speak to them.
"Tell me something, did you really defeat your dragons with that measly power of yours" asked Natsu in a curious tone.
"We didn't just defeat them, we killed our dragons with our bear hands" responded Sting in a proud tone. In response to these words Natsu seemed to get angry and for a moment Jay wondered why. Why would it matter if Sting and Rouge killed their dragons, wasn't that the entire point of being a dragon slayer?
"Didn't you think of them as your parents" asked Natsu, not understanding how Sting and Rouge could kill their dragons. Understanding dawned on Jay, he hadn't thought of it like that. Jay had heard from Lucy that Natsu was apparently raised by his dragon just like Sting and Rouge were. With that in mind, Jay figured that the dragons would be like parents to the first generation dragon slayers.
"I never thought of it that way but Natsu's right. I know I'm different than you three, hell I haven't even seen a dragon but how could you two kill someone that raised you" asked Jay thinking that he couldn't do the same. Sure growing up Jay had a strained relationship with his father that was only mended later in life but he never once considered even harming his father in a serious manner.
"That's none of your business but if you really want to see our dragon slaying power, I'll be happy to show it to you" responded Sting with a smirk while his magical power suddenly increased. Jay knew what was coming, he tensed up as he prepared for the real fight.
"Stay alert Natsu, the real fight is about to begin" stated Jay in a serious tone.
"White Drive" stated Sting as a white veil of energy radiated from his body.
"Shadow Drive" stated Rouge, a veil of dark energy radiating from his body.
"What sort of move is that" asked Natsu in a curious tone, he could feel Sting and Rouge's power increasing.
"Watch out Natsu, their strength and power just got a massive boast" responded Jay, knowing that Sting and Rouge were getting serious now.
"Think of it as a stage before dragon force, they are going to be tougher to beat now" stated Jay while Natsu nodded his head in understanding.
"It doesn't matter how strong they get, I'm still going to beat them" responded Natsu, showing no fear as Sting and Rouge's magical power continued to climb.
"I'm all fired up" shouted Natsu with an excited smile, eager to continue beating Sting and Rouge into the ground. Jay smiled at these words, excitement rushing through him as he prepared for the real battle to begin.
"You took the words right out of my mouth Natsu" responded Jay, eager to show Sting and Rouge that their powerup wasn't going to amount to anything in the long run.
"Man we would have a better idea of what to expect if Jay told us about their magic" stated Laxus while he watched Sting and Rouge powerup.
"That may be true but I respect Jay's decision to keep quite about their magical power" responded Erza, agreeing that having Jay give information about Sting and Rouge's power would tarnish their victory over them.
"Besides do you really think Natsu would even listen if Jay told him what to expect" asked Erza in an amused tone.
"I suppose he wouldn't, that flame head never listens" responded Laxus with a smirk while he continued to watch the match unfolding.
"Ready Sting" asked Rouge in a serious tone while he continued to radiate dark energy.
"Yup" responded Sting with a confident smile. Jay and Natsu might have gotten the best of him at the start of the match but now things were going to be different. Suddenly Sting charged towards Natsu, with his enhanced speed he was able to close the distance before Natsu had time to dodge. Sting fist charged with magical energy crashed into Natsu who barely managed to block it.
"Sabertooth's Sting springs into action! Fairy Tail's Natsu barely manages to block" shouted the announcer while Natsu was pushed backwards from the force of Sting's attack. Sting's attack wasn't done yet, while Natsu tried to recover from the first hit Sting charged up more magical energy.
"Holy White Judgement" yelled Sting before his fist charged with magical energy crashed into Natsu's jaw. Sting then started to deliver a string of attacks onto Natsu, it seemed that Sting's enhanced speed in his white drive mode was too much for Natsu to defend against. Jay would have rushed to help Natsu but he currently had his hands full.
"Damn, this is really annoying" stated Jay as he dodged an attack from Rouge. Dodging the attack, Jay tried to deliver a counterblow, but his fist passed through a shadow instead of hitting Rouge. Not only was Rouge faster in his shadow driver mode, he left behind traces of his shadow which made it hard for Jay to pinpoint his location.
"I hate it when he does this" stated Jay in an annoyed tone as he tried and failed to hit Rouge with another attack. This wasn't the first time Jay fought against Rouge when he used shadow drive but it didn't make it any less annoying to deal with. Sensing that Rouge was behind him, Jay tried to deliver a powerful roundhouse kick only for his foot to pass through another shadow. While Jay's foot passed through Rouge's shadow, he sensed that Rouge was behind him.
"Damn not going to make it in time" stated Jay, knowing that he was about to get hit. Rouge then delivered a powerful kick charged with dark energy, the kick hitting Jay in the face. Jay was pushed a few feet backwards by the force of the kick.
"Try as he might, Jay can't keep up with Rouge in his Shadow Drive" shouted the announcer while the crowd cheered for the Sabertooth wizards.
"You might be physically stronger than me Jay but even you can't catch a shadow" stated Rouge before he morphed into the ground using his shadow magic. Rouge then appeared behind Jay, but he was ready for the attack.
"Got you bitch" shouted Jay as he charged his fist with his water magic.
"Deep Sea Fist" yelled Jay as his fist crashed into Rouge's stomach, only for his attack to pass through another shadow. Jay didn't have any time to process that he had been tricked before Rouge rushed behind him and delivered a powerful punch to his face. Being pushed backwards from the force of the attack, Jay crashed his back into Natsu's.
"I see you're having fun just like I am" stated Jay as he scanned the arena for any signs of Rouge.
"Yah, he's way faster than he was a few moments ago" responded Natsu while he looked for Sting since he was also nowhere to be seen. Jay and Natsu continued to look for their opponents, the dragon slayers knew they had to be close since they could smell them.
"If you're wondering where we are, look above you" shouted Sting in an amused tone since Jay and Natsu were oblivious to their location. Jay and Natsu looked up just in time for Sting and Rouge to come crashing down. A large cloud of smoke was kicked up from the force of the impact, Jay and Natsu were hit with powerful attacks.
"Didn't anyone tell you it's bad manners to hold back when your fighting" asked Natsu, annoyed that Sting had this sort of power and held back at the start of the fight. Sting rushed towards Natsu and delivered a serious of powerful punches and kicks while he responded.
"You're one to talk, what's the deal with this pitiful defense huh" asked Sting in a mocking tone while he kicked Natsu in the back, causing the fire dragon slayer to crash into the ground.
"Did you hear your teammate? It's rude to hold back" stated Rouge in an annoyed tone since he knew that Jay was capable of more. Jay endured another serious of blows from Rouge, he couldn't do much expect for blocking the worst of the damage. Jumping backwards from Rouge, Jay smirked at the shadow dragon slayer.
"If you're referring to the fact I'm not using dragon force there's a simple explanation. I don't just want to beat you; I want to humiliate you. I'm not going to use dragon force at all during this fight so when I win you two will know you lost when I wasn't even trying my best" responded Jay, knowing that such a humiliating loss would hurt Sting and Rouge's pride.
"Did I just hear Jay right? Jay can use dragon force but he's choosing not to" asked Juvia in a shocked tone while she watched Jay continue to take a series of attacks from Rouge.
"I heard the same thing, Jay must be really mad if he wants to humiliate his opponents that badly" responded Gajeel, wondering if Jay could back up his promise of beating the twin dragons of Sabertooth without using all of his power.
"You're going to regret underestimating us" shouted Rouge as he continued his assault against Jay. Anger surged through Rouge thanks to Jay's words, he knew that Jay was capable of more power and knowing he was intentionally holding himself back was making him angry. Jay tried to block Rouge's attacks, but one attack slipped through his defense. Rouge's knee crashed into Jay's face, sending the water dragon slayer tumbling backwards.
"This isn't looking too good" stated Markov, watching as Jay and Natsu continued to be assaulted, Sting and Rouge weren't giving the Fairy Tail wizards anytime to do anything other than defend.
"They used magic power amplification. Add that to their teamwork and their practically flawless" responded Marvis, watching as Sting and Rouge rushed towards Jay and Natsu. Rushing towards Jay and Natsu, the assault continued thanks to the Sabertooth wizards. Jay and Natsu were hit repeatedly with a series of fast and strong attacks from Sting and Rouge before being kicked away.
"Beating the crap out of my idol is pretty freaking sweet" stated Sting while he continued to attack Natsu with punch after punch. After finishing another series of blows onto Natsu, Sting charged his magical energy and punched Natsu in the gut. Jay was busy defending against an assault from Rouge but he glanced towards Natsu and swore at what he saw.
"Somethings up with that punch, it was different from the other attacks he has used so far" stated Erza, watching as a mark appeared on Natsu's stomach.
"Different how" asked Gray in a curious tone before his attention was turned towards Jay.
"Shit! Natsu are you okay" shouted Jay, swearing as he noticed that Sting placed his stigmata onto Natsu during the last attack.
"I would worry about yourself" responded Rouge before he appeared behind Jay and kicked him away. Jay swore as Rouge kept him busy, Natsu was paralyzed and needed his help but he couldn't get to him. Jay continued to try and land a solid onto Rouge but the shadow dragon slayer continued to evade every attack.
"In the end the shadow dragon always gets its prey" stated Rouge, once again appearing behind Jay and getting ready to strike. Charging up his magical power, Rouge's hand morphed into a claw and he swung it towards Jay. Unlike the previous times Rouge attacked Jay, this time his arm was caught by Jay.
"The water dragon is at the top of the food chain, I'm no one's prey" responded Jay with a smirk now that he finally had a firm hold on Rouge. Charging up his magical power, Jay opened his mouth wide.
"Water Dragon Roar" yelled Jay as a large collum of water erupted from his mouth and crashed into Rouge, sending him crashing into a wall. Rouge wasn't the only one that went crashing into the wall, Sting joined him after Natsu delivered a powerful fire attack.
"So you burned of Sting's stigmata, I'm impressed" stated Jay with a smirk as he stood next to Natsu.
"He's going to have to try way harder than that, I'm just getting started" responded Natsu with a wide smile spread across his face while he cracked his knuckles.
"You got that right" responded Jay, thinking that Natsu was a lot of fun.
"And just like that the tide of the battle has turned once again" shouted the announcer while Jay and Natsu delivered another set of powerful attacks onto Sting and Rouge. Sting and Rouge landed a few feet away from Jay and Natsu, showing that they were far from being beaten.
"You guys are pretty awesome alright, no shock there" responded Sting in an impressed tone. Sting wasn't shocked about Jay's strength; he already had a good idea of what Jay was capable of since they often fought together and Natsu was his idol for a reason. After Sting said these words he charged up a huge amount of magical power.
"So he's getting serious now" stated Jay as he entire arena was covered in a blinding light. The crowd watched in awe as Sting enveloped the entire arena in a blinding light, his magical power was climbing to insane heights as he focused it onto a single point.
"Dragon Slayer Secret Art, Holy Nova" shouted Sting before he flew towards Natsu, a crushing amount of magical power gathered into his fist. Once Sting's attack connected with Natsu, a massive explosion tore the arena apart. Sting smirked at the level of destruction he just caused but that smirk was soon wiped away when the smoke cleared.
"Wow Fairy Tail's Natsu stopped that massive attack with just one hand" shouted the announcer in a shocked tone while the crowd cheered loudly. While Sting stared at Natsu with shock spread across his face, Rouge tried to get the jump on Jay.
"Jay! You're going to pay for quitting the guild" shouted Rouge as he flew towards Jay. Instead of dodging or blocking the attack, Jay figured it was time for him to use one of his secret arts. Jay stood still as Rouge flew towards him, he made no move to defend himself. Since Jay made no move to defend himself, Rouge delivered devastating attacks that made the members of Fairy Tail watching gasp with worry.
"Oh no it doesn't look too good for Jay" stated Lisanna with worry in her voice while Jay was sent crashing backwards. Rouge didn't let up his attack, he quickly slashed into Jay with a shadow dragon claw.
"Why isn't Jay defending himself? Is Rogue overwhelming him" asked Erza in a curious tone, finding it odd that Jay wasn't moving a muscle to defend himself while Rouge continued to beat him. After taking another series of powerful attacks, Jay landed a few feet away from Rouge. Despite taking damage, Jay was smirking at Rouge.
"Wait Jay just took a hell of beating, why is he smiling like that" asked Gajeel, wondering what his fellow dragon slayer was up to.
"Do you feel that Gajeel? Jay is channeling a huge amount of magical power" responded Levy, feeling the surge of magical power coming from Jay.
"Thanks for the help Rouge" stated Jay as he radiated a huge amount of magical power. Rouge was about to continue his assault until he finally realized what Jay was doing. Seeing Rouge tensing up and staying some distance away from him made Jay chuckle to himself.
"You know what's coming next, shouldn't have been so eager to do so much damage to me" stated Jay while he focused a huge amount of magical energy.
"Dragon Slayer Secret Art, Feeding Frenzy" yelled Jay, magical power enveloping his entire body before he flew towards Rouge. Focusing all of the magical power enveloping his body into his fist, Jay crashed it into Rouge's jaw. A huge explosion of magical power tore apart the surrounding area while Rouge was blown away.
"Damn what an attack" stated Gray in an impressed tone.
"I wonder, was taking all that damage part of Jay's plan" asked Erza in a curious tone.
"Oh wow! I can't believe we just got to see one of Jay's strongest attacks! The feeding frenzy spell is a devastating magical attack that is fueled by pain" shouted the announcer in an excited tone while the crowd cheered for Jay.
"So Jay took all that damage on purpose to make his attack more powerful" stated Mira, somewhat relieved that Jay took the damage on purpose instead of being overwhelmed.
"I hope he didn't take too much damage" responded Lisanna, not liking that Jay had a magical attack that relied on him being hurt.
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about Jay. We both know how much energy he has, don't we Lisanna" responded Cana in a teasing tone, making Lisanna blush at her words.
"Cana, stop it! That's embarrassing" responded Lisanna while a strong blush covered her face. While Lisanna's face was burning from her strong blush, she didn't take her eyes away from the match still going on. Rouge wasn't the only one being completely overwhelmed, Natsu was thrashing Sting. Soon Sting and Rouge crashed into the ground, they struggled to get back on their feet while Jay and Natsu waited for them.
"Jay and Natsu are on a whole different level now" shouted the announcer while the crowd cheered for Fairy Tail.
"That last attack you did was impressive, I can't wait to fight you myself one day" stated Natsu with an excited smile.
"You really are a fun guy Natsu, even in the middle of a battle you are thinking about testing yourself" responded Jay in an amused tone, thinking that he and Natsu had similar mind sets.
"Let's focus on the current battle, we can fight later" stated Jay with a smirk before he turned his attention back towards Sting and Rouge.
"Don't tell me that was enough to knock you two out" asked Jay in a mocking tone while Sting and Rouge continued to lay on the ground.
"If I wasn't watching it with my own eyes I wouldn't believe it! Sting and Rouge are completely at the mercy of Jay and Natsu" shouted the announcer while Sting and Rouge struggled to stand up. Remembering how badly Minerva beat Lucy in the naval battle, Jay clenched his fist in anger.
"Come on get back up, I'm not done with you yet" stated Jay in an ice cold tone. Angered by Jay talking down to them, the dragon slayers of Sabertooth stood up.
"We're not finished yet" responded Rouge in an angry tone, it was obvious Jay's last attack did significant damage to him.
"He's right, it's not like we expected this to be easy you know. Give us some credit" responded Sting as he stood up, bruises and burns covered his body.
"I'm not going to lose" stated Sting after a moment to self-reflection, remembering his promise to his friend. Suddenly Sting and Rouge erupted with intense magical energy, Jay knew this was their dragon force.
"I made a promise to Lector, and I intend to keep it" stated Sting with a determined look, his magical power climbing to new heights thanks to his activated dragon force.
"I know about your promise to Lector, honestly as much as I want to beat you it pains me that Lector and Frosh have to watch" responded Jay, feeling bad for the two kind talking cats that did nothing wrong.
"But you're not the only one who made a promise, I promised Lucy that I was going to make you pay" stated Jay, preparing himself to face Sting and Rouge's dragon force.
"Stay alert Natsu, this is their dragon force" stated Jay while he tensed up his body, knowing that Sting and Rouge were about to pounce on them.
"I don't care what it is, it's not going to change a thing" responded Natsu with a smirk, showing that he was unafraid of Sting and Rouge despite the fact their magical power was growing to absurd heights.
"Hang back Rouge, I got this" stated Sting, confidant that he could take down Jay and Natsu by himself since he had activated dragon force. Sting walked forward, showing no fear as he prepared to fight against two opponents at once.
"I can handle these chumps by myself" stated Sting with a smirk.
"I've never seen this ability firsthand, is it really that awesome" asked Gray, shocked at the magical power he was feeling from Sting and Rouge.
"Yes, they are at a real disadvantage now" responded Erza in a serious tone, wondering how Jay and Natsu were going to do against a dragon slayer that could freely use dragon force.
"I really hope Jay knows what he is doing. This power is absurd and you're telling me Jay can also use dragon force but he's choosing not to" asked Laxus, thinking that Jay was being foolish, and it might cost Fairy Tail the match.
"I understand why Jay is choosing not to use dragon force. We have to remember that Lucy is his family, he wants to break their pride for what they did. We just have to put our trust in Jay and Natsu" responded Erza. Erza might not fully agree with Jay's choice to not use dragon force, but she could understand his intentions.
"You're going to regret this, you two should attack together. The teamwork you two have is your biggest advantage, not your dragon force" stated Natsu, insulted Sting was going to fight alone.
"Natsu's right. You two have never beaten me before, you really think today is going to be any different" asked Jay in a mocking tone.
"You might have beaten us in the past but that was only because you were one of us. Now that you are our enemy, there is going to be no holding back" responded Sting, confident that Jay would fall to his superior strength.
"You're definitely welcome to test that theory, just don't cry when I knock you into the ground" responded Jay with a confidant smirk. Sting glared in response to Jay's words, he wanted to make Jay eat his words. Rushing forward Sting quickly closed the distance between himself and Natsu, crashing his fist into the fire dragon slayer. While Natsu was thrown backwards from the force of Sting's punch, Jay attempted to deliver a powerful counterattack.
"Cyclone kick" shouted Jay, swinging a powerful roundhouse kick charged with magical energy towards Sting.
With his enhanced speed granted to him by dragon force, Sting was able to easily dodge Jay's attack while he charged up magical energy into his fist. After charging up his magical energy, Sting threw a ball of light energy towards Jay, the attack crashing into Jay's chest and sending him tumbling backwards. Despite being blown backwards by Sting's powerful attacks, Jay and Natsu showed no signs of giving up. The fire dragon slayer and water dragon slayer charged at Sting, who was ready for the dual assault. Jay and Natsu attacked Sting with a series of coordinated punches, their first flying at such high speeds that it was difficult for the crowd to keep up. While the crowd had trouble keeping up with the fast punches, Sting displayed little effort as he blocked every attack.
"He's so fast" stated Levy, watching as Sting easily countered Jay and Natsu's coordinated assault. With a powerful kick, Sting sent Jay flying backwards. While Jay was still airborne, Sting punched Natsu and threw him into Jay. Jay and Natsu grunted in pain as they slammed into each other midair, but the assault from Sting wasn't done yet. Sting then jumped into the air, charging up a huge amount of magical energy.
"White Dragon Holy Breath" shouted Sting before a large burst of light erupted from his mouth and rocketed towards Jay and Natsu. Since they were still airborne Jay and Natsu couldn't dodge the incoming attack. Sting's powerful breath attack crashed into Jay and Natsu, making them crash into the ground before a devastating explosion consumed the fighting area. When the smoke cleared, everyone in the crowd was shocked at the scale of the damage Sting's attack caused.
"Incredible! The floor of the arena gave way to Sting's astonishing attack" shouted the announcer, referring to the massive cavern created by Sting's powerful breath attack. Everyone from Fairy Tail had worried looks on their faces, they couldn't see Jay or Natsu anywhere.
"Look at the damage he caused" stated Erza, impressed that Sting was capable of this level of destruction.
"Please be okay" stated Lisanna in a worried tone, hoping Jay and Natsu weren't beaten. Since the cavern that was created was deep, the crowd couldn't see what was going on anymore, but that problem was soon solved with lacrima vision. Across the arena lacrima vision was displayed, it was currently showing Jay and Natsu falling from a great height.
"You can't leave because we're not done yet" shouted Sting with a smirk as he fell towards Jay and Natsu. While at first it seemed that Jay and Natsu were unable to stop their dangerous fall until they were landed on falling debris.
"Fire Dragon Sword Horn" shouted Natsu, using his magical power to set his entire body ablaze and flew towards Sting. Since Sting was falling through the air, he was unable to dodge Natsu headbutting him. While Sting grunted in pain from Natsu's attack, Jay jumped behind the white dragon slayer.
"Slamming Anchor Knee "shouted Jay before he slammed his knee into Sting's back, crushing the white dragon slayer from the force of his magically enhance attack. Sting grunted in pain as he rocketed towards the ground, a large smoke cloud was kicked up when Sting crashed into the earth. While Jay and Natsu watched the smoke cloud from above a strong force cleared away the smoke to reveal Sting on his feet.
"The radiance of a white dragon purifies all" shouted Sting with a smirk, showing that he still had a lot of fight left in him. Jay watched as Sting took a familiar stance while he charged up a huge amount of magical power. Knowing what was coming, Jay started to channel his own magical power.
"Holy Ray" shouted Sting, a huge barrage of white rays flying towards Jay and Natsu. Jay brought his two hands together, a massive amount of magical power flowing through him as he prepared his counterattack.
"Shark Bullet Frenzy" shouted Jay, a large number of sharks made of water erupting from Jay's hands. The Sharks that Jay produced equaled in number to Sting's white rays, the two attacks colliding midair. The two attacks were evenly match, they cancelled each other out.
"That was quick thinking on Jay's part, it would have been bad if Sting's attack hit them" stated Erza, impressed with the power that Jay and Sting just displayed. Both of the attacks were huge in scale and could have decided the battle if they weren't cancelled out. Finally landing on the ground, Jay had to take a moment to rest since he just used a large amount of magical power. While Jay had to catch his breath, Sting didn't have the same need since he was enhanced thanks to his dragon force. Immediately Sting rushed towards Natsu, delivering a powerful punch charged with holy energy.
"Time to fly" stated Sting with a smirk before Natsu went flying away. Natsu would have crashed into a wall if it wasn't for Jay's quick thinking. Using his magical power, Jay made an extendable whip of water and stretched it towards Natsu. Instead of using his whip to attack, Jay wrapped it around Natsu in order to catch him. Jay then set Natsu down next to him before he released the magic holding the water whip's form.
"Thanks" stated Natsu while he was focused on Sting.
"Don't thank me yet, we still aren't done" responded Jay before he and Natsu agreed to rush towards Sting. Jay and Natsu started to attack Sting together, but Sting was able to block and dodge each attack.
"Even together Jay and Natsu are having trouble" stated Mira while she watched the fight continue.
"Jay's former guildmate is proving to be a lot of trouble" responded Juvia, hoping that Jay and Natsu could regain control of the battle soon. After dodging another attack from Jay, Sting landed a few feet away from the two fairy tail wizards and fired a powerful laser at them. The laser crashed into Jay and Natsu, a smoke cloud obscuring the extent of the damage as the crowd cheered for Sting. Once the smoke cloud cleared away it was revealed that Jay and Natsu were laying down on the ground. Raising his fist in the air, Sting started to shout.
"See that Lector! I won" shouted Sting, elated that he fulfilled his promise to his friend. Rouge then walked over to Sting, he was talking about how the ear of the old dragon slayers had come to an end.
"Jay and Natsu might not be getting up from that one folks. It was an intense fight, but it looks like Fairy Tail might have fallen to the might of Sabertooth after all" stated the announcer while the rest of Fairy Tail watched and hoped that this wasn't the end.
"Natsu" stated Happy with tears in his eyes.
"Hey what the hell do you think you're doing?! The fight isn't over yet. I know you are new to the guild but you have to know Fairy Tail wizards don't ever quit" stated Cana, trying to will Jay the strength to stand back up.
"It was a good fight, the toughest I've ever had. Thanks" stated Sting after he reverted back to his normal form.
"Are they down for the count" asked the announcer while Jay and Natsu remined motionless.
"Quit lying there! You got a fight to finish" shouted Gray, refusing to believe that this was it.
"Listen to us, we are right here with you" shouted Erza, lending Jay and Natsu her strength through her vocal support.
"You're never alone, because you are part of Fairy Tail" shouted Erza, reminding Natsu while also showing Jay the stark difference between the two guilds. If Jay was still a part of Sabertooth he wouldn't be receiving support in this situation but Fairy Tail was different.
"Perhaps I was wrong about Jay, he's just another worthless weakling" stated Minerva, thinking that if Jay was the sort of person to lose then he wasn't worth her interest.
"I finally did it, I kept my word" stated Sting with a smile while Rouge walked up next to him. Sting had his attention turned towards Rouge, so he didn't notice Jay and Natsu stand back up.
"Not so fast pal" responded Natsu with a smirk while Sting and Rouge reacted with shock. The crowd went wild as Jay and Natsu stood back up; this fight still wasn't over.
"I knew he wasn't done yet, Jay has way more energy than that" stated Cana with a smile, knowing all too well the boundless stamina that the water dragon slayer possessed.
"Isn't that right Lisanna, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about" stated Cana with a teasing tone, making Lisanna blush crimson. While Lisanna was embarrassed with Cana's shameless teasing, she was glad that Jay and Natsu were still able to fight.
"I have to say you definitely improved Sting. You must have trained a lot during the month leading up to the games" stated Jay with a smirk while he took the time to stretch his body.
"Amazing! It's as if Sting's attack didn't even faze them" shouted the announcer while Jay and Natsu tried to stretch and limber up.
"Not bad but now I've seen all your little quirks" stated Natsu with a smile, showing that he was far from being beaten.
"What" asked Sting in disbelief while Rouge had a similar reaction.
"I know the timing of your attack, the way you stand when you defend and even the rhythm of your breathing" stated Natsu, eager to resume the battle.
"What the hell" asked Sting, not understanding how Jay and Natsu could still be so confident.
"That's impossible! I used my dragon force, you shouldn't be standing" shouted Sting, trying to find some sort of explanation to what he was witnessing.
"Hate to break it to you but I've always found your dragon force a bit of a letdown, it's nothing like mine" responded Jay with a smirk while he cracked his knuckles. Glancing to his right and just a bit past Natsu, Jay noticed a minecart which gave him an idea to embarrass Sting and Rouge in front of the entire kingdom.
"Hey Natsu, is that a mountain of food" stated Jay with a smirk while he pointed to his right.
"A mountain of food?! Where" asked Natsu, already drooling as he turned his attention in the direction that Jay was pointing. Once Natsu was distracted, Jay pushed him into the nearby minecart, and he pulled the lever holding it in place.
"Huh?! What's the big idea" asked Natsu as the minecart started to fall down the tracks. Natsu would have said more or even gotten out of the minecart if it wasn't for his motion sickness. Watching Natsu fall down the tracks, Jay turned his attention back towards Sting and Rouge while a mischievous smile was spread across his face.
"What did you do that for" asked Sting, confused why Jay would just take out his teammate.
"Have you forgotten what I told you before? I don't want to just beat you; I want to embarrass you. I'm going to beat the both of you by myself" responded Jay with a smirk, daring Sting and Rouge to attack him.
"Insanity! Jay Heartfilia has just decaled a one on two battle against his former guild! We could be witnessing history" shouted the announcer, shocked at the turn of events but excited to see what would happen next.
"It doesn't matter if I'm in Sabertooth or not. I'm still the battle king and I'm going to prove that" stated Jay, eager to embarrass Sting and Rouge and show them the error of their ways.
