3rd pov:
The rest of the VKs seemed to have found new things that they enjoyed in Auradon. Mal decided to use Jane, the Fairy Godmother's daughter to get the wand after Mal gave her a new hairdo. Evie developed a crush on Chad, Prince Charming's son. She even used her magic mirror to answer the Chemistry question which earned her a date with Chad. Carlos ended up facing his fear of dogs thanks to Ben and the campus mutt Dude. Jay had taken a liking to the tourney and would meet up with Lilith to support her during cheerleading practice. Lilith mostly enjoyed the dance class and her private magic lessons with her grandmother.
Lilith's pov:
Now comes the worst class that I have to take, Royal Mannerism. I think I'm gonna lose my mind if I have to see my so-called cousin and Audrey. But I was wrong, the minute I walked into the room, my seat was right near my cousin. So much for my plan to avoid her. To make things worse, I had to pair up with Terra for the lesson. She kept trying to talk to me but I shut her out and focused on the lesson. I had to admit, it wasn't so bad except for Audrey whispering things about me.
The White Queen wanted me to give a speech to give to the class about myself and my family. This was a piece of cake, short speeches are my dad's specialty and mine. Just as I was walking up to the front of the class, someone tripped me and I ended up falling flat on my face. I could hear Audrey laughing her face off. I ignored her, picked myself up, and walked up to the front of the class. "Lilith, tell us about yourself." The teacher asked me.
"Well, I have three older brothers that look out for me. I'm the only girl in my family, my mother died when I was born..." I started.
"No wonder she acts more like a boy," Audrey commented.
I just rolled my eyes and continued "I have my dad's love of books. He taught me how to read when I was four. Dad even taught me some of his pranks, I'd pull some of them on Cruella and on my brothers. He used to tell me stories of Asgard when I was little, I've never seen it but I kinda hope to one day."
"Why? So you can take over?" Terra accused me.
"What? No! I'm not like that."
"Liar! You probably just wanted to get your father out of the Isle so the two of you can take over."
The teacher tried to split us apart but I wasn't letting my brat of a cousin talk about my dad like that.
Lilith: "Listen here, I don't want the throne. And mind your tongue, no one talks about my father like that."
Audrey: "Says the girl that ditched the class this morning."
Lilith: "What?"
Audrey: "I saw you in the dance class. Can we even trust her?"
The White Queen: "Audrey, that's enough."
Terra: "I'm siding with Audrey. We can't trust the daughter of the god of lies. She could stab us in the back."
Lilith: "Big talk coming from the daughter of the god of thunder. Your father treated mine like he was a servant. My father did everything while yours just took credit for everything. What was it he said? Oh yeah it was 'Know your place.'"
Terra: "No one talks to me like that!"
Lilith: "Well I think someone should. Some of us don't have good food or a roof over our heads. Everything's just handed to you all princesses and princes while some of us have to earn our keep."
The bell rang as I gathered my stuff and headed to meet up with Mal and Evie in their dorm. I just needed to get away from the drama. Mal's plan to use Jane to get the wand backfired and she ended up giving Lonnie a new hairstyle. Carlos came in after with a dog in his arms. "Carlos, you're holding a dog?" I asked.
"Yep. Ben helped me get over my fear of dogs. Meet Dude, the campus mutt," he said.
Jay came in wearing a tourney jersey, I swear I felt butterflies in my stomach looking at him. 'Get a grip. He's my best friend, not lover.'
Jay: "How's your plan to steal the wand?"
Lilith: "Jay!"
Mal: "Do you think that I would be going through every single spell in this entire spellbook if I didn't completely strike out?"
Carlos: "Someone is in a bad mood."
Mal looked at him.
Mal: "My mom's counting on me! I can't let her down!"
Jay: "We can do this... If we stick together."
Mal: "And we won't go back until we do. Because we're rotten..."
All five: "To the core."
Evie: "Oh yeah. I found out that Fairy Godmother blesses Ben with the wand at the coronation and we all get to go. I have nothing to wear, of course."
Lilith: "Evie, we need the wand not fashion advice."
Jay: "What's eating her?"
Mal: "Her cousin happened. Nearly blew a fuse when Terra said bad things about Loki."
Then I heard a knock on the door and Mal answered the door. It was Ben.
Ben: "Hey, Mal. I didn't see you guys today. I was just wondering if you had any questions or anything that you needed."
Mal: "Not that I know of."
Ben: "Okay. All right. Well, if you need anything, just..."
Mal: "Oh. Wait! Is it true that we all get to go to your coronation?"
Ben: "Yeah, the whole school goes."
Mal: "That is beyond exciting. Do you think that it's a possibility that the five of us could stand in the front row next to the Fairy Godmother, just so we could soak up all that goodness?"
Ben: "I wish you could. Up front, it's just me, my folks, my girlfriend, and Frigga, the queen of Asgard."
Mal: "And your girlfriend?"
Lilith: "Frigga's gonna be at your coronation?"
Ben: "Yes I am sorry. And Lily, the royal family of Asgard will be present as well. I can try to convince them to let you join up front."
Lilith: "That's nice of you Ben but I don't think Odin would be pleasant to see me."
I saw Mal close the door and she turned to all of us.
Mal: "I think it's time that Bennyboo got himself a new girlfriend. I need a love spell. And Lily..."
Lilith: "Mal, I know what you're thinking and the answer is no. I'm already enemies with Terra, I'm not gonna make things worse."
Evie: "You could convince your grandmother to let you join them."
Lilith: "E, what part of not making things worse don't you get?"
Mal: "Lily, we get that you want to make peace with the Queen but we need you.
I can't say no to Mal so I agreed to help her with the love spell.
Later at night, the five of us snuck into the kitchen to work on the spell but in the form of cookies so that Ben wouldn't get suspicious. Mal had almost finished the spell but it's missing one ingredient, one tear of human sadness. "Let's just chop up some onions," Jay suggested.
"It has to be a tear of human sadness. It needs to have pure emotion so the potion is effective." I explained.
Suddenly, Lonnie came walking in, Mal quickly covered up the spellbook so she didn't see it. Lonnie told Mal that all the girls wanted her to do their hair with her magic. And here I thought Mal wouldn't make any new friends. Lonnie saw the bowl of cookie mix then the next thing I knew is that she dipped her finger in and licked the batter before any of us could stop her.
She looked at us like we were ghosts, we thought the spell had affected her. Jay tested it but she wasn't affected then she walked to the fridge and pulled out chocolate chips for the cookies. We were confused about why she added them in.
Lonnie: "Wait, didn't your moms ever make you guys, like, chocolate chip cookies? Like, when you're feeling sad, and they're fresh from the oven, with a big old glass of milk and she just makes you laugh..."
Jay: "Um, you can't say the m-word around Lily."
Lonnie: "Why?"
Mal: "She never knew her mom. She died when Lily was a newborn."
Lonnie: "I didn't know. I'm sorry."
Lilith: "It's fine. I'm used to it."
Lonnie: "What about your dad? Does he...?"
Carlos: "He's really protective around Lily. As far as we know, Loki's the only one on the Isle that cares about the five of us."
Lonnie: "I don't get it. All those stories..."
Jay: "About him being heartless? False."
Lilith: "My dad would never hurt anyone. My grandparents hid the truth about his real heritage and he was angry. You can't pretend to be something you're not."
Lonnie: "And in Royal Mannerism..?
Lilith: "My dad never wanted the throne. He wanted to prove that he was just as worthy as Thor."
Lonnie: "How terrible."
Lonnie sheds a single tear then Mal quickly wipes it away and drops it into the batter.
Mal: "Yeah, well, big bummer, but we have to get these into the oven, so thank you so much for coming by."
Lonnie: "Yeah of course. And Lily, for what it's worth, I think your dad would be very proud of you."
Lonnie walked out of the kitchen as the rest of us got to work finishing up the cookies.
