Title: Girls, Gillettes and Gore part 1
(A/N: TW violence, and I do not own Scream)
Joe's pov
I was getting my place ready for the afternoon, since Connor was coming over. All of 16 now, he was enjoying being able to drive himself around. Yep, even in New York City, he insisted on a car. He had mentioned that, as well as our movie nights, he had wanted me to help him with a few guy things, and I could imagine what he had wanted to talk about. As for our movie night, tomorrow was Saturday and I did not have work, so we could definitely binge all 6 Scream movies, as was our plan.
A knock on the door made me aware my brother had arrived, and I opened the door and let him in, taking notice of the band-aids all over his face
"Connor, what happened?"
He looked at me kind of ashamed, unsure of himself
"Shaving is not going so great, and Grandpa and Pop aren't that good with anything but an electric razor, which I don't feel comfortable with. Any chance you could teach me?"
I smiled
"My pleasure. And, to make you feel a bit better, I'll show you some of the evidence of my first shaving attempts. Promise I went through way more band-aids at once than you. Looked like a mummy for a week"
He chuckled
"Can't wait. Also, I know you're with Lori King, but have you met her sister Lois yet? I also need pointers on how to talk to her."
Arm around him, I replied
"Girls, gillettes and gore. Good thing we have all night and tomorrow."
He smiled
"Yeah. By 'gore' you mean Scream-a-thon, right? Not shaving?"
I shrugged
"You'll be the judge when I show you my pictures. My attempts at shaving seemed pretty gory to me. But I won't let you make the same mistakes I did. Or, at least, not again."
He smiled
"Alright! Let's see the evidence."
Laughing, I looked for the pictures of my disastrous first attempt at shaving, which ended in a bloody sink, along with my face. I spoke
"I nearly needed stitches."
He winced in sympathy
"Ouch. So sorry. Is it bad that I kinda feel better?"
I chuckled
"Nope. Why do you think I ever let these pictures see the light of day? The whole point was for you to feel better."
He smiled again
"Thanks, Joey."
As I walked him through shaving using an old Ghostface mask I had from the third movie model, I replied
"You're welcome. Hey, you got it down pat! Once you heal up and have more facial hair you'll be able to shave perfectly. Great job."
He smiled, cheeks a bit pink
"Thanks for that. How are you and Lori?"
Now it was MY turn to turn a shade of crimson, butterflies in my stomach
"We're great. She's amazing and so sweet. You're in Lois's class, is that how you met?"
He nodded
"Yeah. But I'm kinda scared to ask her out... How did you ask Lori?"
I grinned at the memory
"We were working late at the precinct, and we had to wait for some intel to arrive before we could actually make the bust. We ended up playing two truths and a lie, but in reverse. Two lies and one truth. The options she gave me were that she liked me, she loved me or she was in love with me. I was confused, but then so so happy when the truth was she was in love with me. We kissed, and the rest is history."
He raised an eyebrow
"So you asked her by not asking her?"
I shrugged
"She beat me to the punch. Put some feelers out, be Lois's friend first, and maybe both of you can join Lor and I for ice cream this weekend."
Both of us happy with the plan, we began to watch the movies, saying all the quotable lines out loud. We were halfway through the second one when I got a text from Lori
"Oh no... A case. Ghostface copycat, going the way of the second movie specifically. Name patterns. But starting with the first Ghostface all the way to the last one, all the victims on each list, someone is just picking random people with that same first or last name. Same MO. Call, trivia, kill. Same Buck 120 knife... Lori says she needs to pick my Scream-crazed brain because she hasn't seen any of the movies."
Always wanting to be helpful, my brother spoke
"Need help making a list of possible first and last names and the kills? I could help with that in my sleep."
I shrugged. He was right, but shouldn't really be working a case like this. Lori was headed this way... I gave in
"Lori is coming here, you can help with the details and that's it."
He nodded dutifully
"Sir yes Sir."
A few minutes later, my girlfriend entered my apartment and we began to make the list.
