As Percy saw Leo's figure in the IM, his face dropped.
Kymopoleia grin only grew bigger. "Hand over the heirship and he may come out unharmed"
Percy scowled, "I don't deal with terrorists." He said.
Kymopoleia sighed. "Not even for your friend? I just want heirship, not to rule the cosmos. You don't even want it; why not hand it over? I'd do much more with the title than mope about and do nothing. You've not even learned how to act! How to speak to your subjects– I have put the work in!"
Percy's hands clenched into fists. "Let him go, Kym."
"You don't have the privilege to call me that!" She snarled. "It is Princess Kymopoleia to you, Perseus!"
"He's innocent in this Princess! Let him go, he isn't part of this."
"But he's in my grasp as we are talking, isn't he? And he can't do anything down here; the pressure is too much for his flames, isn't it?" She said, sliding the blade over Leo's jaw. "He tried; he failed. He nearly died had it not been for my merciful ways."
Percy sent her a hard look, and he could feel the tides raging; he felt his blood move with them, angrily crashing against shorelines. His blood pulsed beneath his skin, bones aching as his heart-and-head fought about what to do.
Leo moved, worming a hand from out of the binds and grabbing at Kymopoleia's hair, forcing her to drop the blade. He was too slow, however, and she threw an arm out as a tentacle, pinning him against the wall out of view.
"KYM!" He shouted. "Stop this madness! Why are you even- dad's the one who can give it to you, I can't!"
"Yes you can!" She snarled, cracks forming along her skin as her mortal vessel started to fail. "If you want to see your friend alive another day, you will give it to me, you will strip yourself of your titles and bury your poor excuse for a godly form into the deepest pit!"
"I DO NOT HAVE THAT POWER!" He raged; he didn't have a godly form, yet. Not a true one, anyway.
Kymopoleia opened her mouth, but another figure appeared on the IM.
"Sister." Said the other goddess. "Simply appease our father, Perseus. Give your word for the title, and appease to him; that is all we want. In return, you get your friend back."
"And who are you?" He almost scoffed.
"Another sister. Benthesikyme." Benthesikyme smiled. "Had I not declined the throne long ago, I would be in your position. I am the daughter of Amphitrite and Posiedon, as well as the late prince's full sister. I have nearly faded many times, until Kymopoleia came to me."
Kymopoleia hissed; Percy saw Leo's hand wave to him as her grip loosened. "...Seriously?"
Benthesikyme shrugged. "Male heirs are best suited anyways. It is why you were chosen; Kings are of the highest order, are they not?"
His rage still pulsed hard against his skin, but even he felt the tides grow weary. "I can't do that to him."
"Your loyalty is admirable. I'm almost sorry we couldn't come to a compromise." Benthesikyme said. "You don't want to disappoint him or your little loverboy, hm? It hinders you, I must say… you could be free from the throne, you could heal from your past… and yet you are haunted."
"Give him back." He growled out. "We're done here."
"He stays." Kymopoleia snarled. "He stays until you decide-!"
Benthesikyme pried Leo from her sisters' grasp. "He stays one more day."
"No."
"You don't have a choice in this matter." She said, and cut the IM off.
Percy stared at the empty space where the Iris Message had been, hands shaking. When he looked down, his veins were glowing a deep golden.
"FUCK!" He yelled, and he felt the water around him shift.
Percy went to Poseidon's throne room. "Father, we need to talk."
Poseidon looked at him, "Mhm?"
"I…I need to give Kym the crown."
Poseidon shook his head, "Not a chance!"
"She has Leo, my friend!" Percy growled. Anger in his eyes.
Poseidon looked at him, "My son. He may have been your friend when you were a demigod but you are a god now, the laws apply to you which means you will not be able to visit him."
Percy growled, "I ONLY BECAME A GOD BECAUSE YOU FORCED ME TO! LEO IS MY FRIEND, I WILL DO WHATEVER I HAVE TO, TO SAVE HIM. ENOUGH DEMIGODS HAVE DIED BECAUSE THE GODS ALWAYS THINK THEY KNOW BEST!"
Posiedon stayed calm and listened, "...Percy please, think. Don't act rash."
Kympoloeia looked at her siblings, "we strike now. Our time is now. Father and Perseus are surely fighting. His demigod ideals will get in the way of him being a god."
The children of Poseidon that had gathered, grinned all grabbing their weapons and armor. They all swam for the giant city of Atlantis.
As they surrounded the palace walls, and every entry, the war alarm was rung within, mermen and merwomen and the cyclops took their battle positions, they would all defend the palace and their King, Their queen and their prince to their dying breath.
As Percy heard the war alarm, he had been on an IM with Nico, he told Nico to stay out of it, he grabbed riptide and his armor and swam out to where the battlefield would by.
Floating next to Kymopoleia, was a very injured and unconscious Leo.
Percy's eyes darted from Leo, to the mass gathering of his half-siblings. All that had a better claim to the throne than he did, they had centuries if not millennium more experience that he did. Sure, most were power hungry and that was not ideal.
Sure, Percy was Poseidon's favorite child and sure Percy had the right ideals for the throne, but he didn't feel worthy for such a position.
"Let the demigod go!" Poseidon swam next to Percy, looking grand in his armor and trident in hand.
Kymoploeia looked around at her army, then her father's and then finally at Percy. "Not unless we get the throne of Atlantis, which means you step down, Old man."
Poseidon held his head high and stared her down.
