"So you got a video game for me?" Producer Guy asks.
Screenwriter Guy says, "Yessir I do, it's called Danganronpa."
"What's that? Some sort of European expression for fucking?" Producer Guy asks.
"Not at all sir, it's the name of the franchise."
"Maybe we can have a less confusing name?"
"Okay we'll call this first game Trigger Happy Havoc." Screenwriter Guy said.
"Thank you." Producer Guy smiled. "So what kind of game is this?"
"Well it's a bit of blend of a bunch of different gaming styles, one second it's a visual novel next it's a murder mystery game." Screenwriter Guy explained.
"So what's the story behind the game?"
"Well sir it takes place at this really prestigious private school in Japan called Hope's Peak Academy where these prodigies called Ultimates go to hone their craft and if you graduate that pretty much guarantees you a life of riches and luxury." Screenwriter Guy explains.
"Amazing, so what are Ultimates?"
"Well every student at Hope' Peak has at least one skill that they're the best at, we got the ultimate Baseball Star, Ultimate Writer, Ultimate Fanfic Creator" Screenwriter Guy listed off.
"What's the fanfic look like?" Producer Guy asks.
"Basically if he spent his entire life eating nothing but fast food and never heard of a treadmill." Screenwriter Guy replied.
"I see."
"There's also the Ultimate Gambler, the Ultimate Biker Gang Leader."
"How and why are those Ultimate titles?" Producer Guy asks.
"I dunno."
"Fair enough."
"There's also this guy Bayakuya Togami, who's the Ultimate Affluent Progeny."
"So his talent is literally just being from a rich family?"
"Pretty much yeah."
"I gotta say I don't really see how most of those talents are gonna be applicable to having a respectable career."
"Hey shut up and so there's this one girl Kyoko Kirigiri whose Ultimate is unknown."
"oooo unknown talents are tight!"
"Yeah yeah yeah!"
"So who's the protagonist of this game?"
"The protagonist is this kid Makoto Naegi, and he was actually accepted into the school by a nationwide lottery. And was granted the title of Ultimate Lucky Student." Screenwriter Guy explained.
"And what's he like?" Producer Guy asked.
"He's literally plainer than bread."
"Won't that make him look kind of boring?"
"Yeah but it's based off anime so-"
"Gotcha."
"Anyway the students are then greeted by this talking bear thing Monokuma who tells them the only way they can leave is by killing one of their fellow students." Screenwriter Guy explained.
"I can honestly say that is pretty accurate of private schooling." Producer Guy commented.
"Yeah so to incentivize the students he's gonna give out some motivations to kill one of their own, like videos of their loved ones, threatening to expose their secrets, a cash prize of 10 million dollars." Screenwriter Guy said.
"Aren't they supposed to be Japanese? Shouldn't it be yen?"
"Hey shut up, and so during each chapter they'll be a murder and then the students will have to investigate the murder."
"Why?" Producer Guy asks.
"Well because not only does the murderer, the blackened, need to kill someone they ALSO have to get away with it at a class trial." Screenwriter Guy said.
"Why are they called blackened?" Producer Guy asks.
"Cause black is the most evil color in existence."
"Out of context that might sound racist."
"Whoops."
"Whoopsy."
"And so the first murder Makoto is immediately blamed because it happened in his room after this girl he knew from middle school Sayaka had switched rooms with him."
"Why would she do that?"
"Well it turns out that Sayaka had planned to call one go the students to the room to kill them, but failed and was killed instead." Screenwriter Guy said.
"So who did it?"
"Well we found out it was this guy Leon Kuwata because Sayaka wrote his name using her blood. But because it was upside down it looks like '11037'."
"Why that?" Producer Guy uses a calculator. "Oh wow look at that!"
"Yeah and so after Leon is exposed he gets executed immediately in one of these elaborate executions that happen whenever the murderer is exposed." Screenwriter Guy said.
"Oh my lord."
"Yeah and if they had gotten the killer wrong, then everyone else would have been executed."
"Geez."
"So in the next chapter we learn that this girl Chihiro is actually a boy."
"What?"
"Yeah Chihiro was bullied for being too weak and decided to dress as a girl to get away from it." Screenwriter Guy explained.
"In what reality is that the logical response to bullying?" Producer Guy questioned.
"This one apparently." Screenwriter Guy responded.
"And nobody recognized him after he started cross dressing? Like nobody gathered that this new girl looks exactly like that kid they had been bullying?"
"That's what we're going."
"And what did his parents think when he started wearing dresses and-"
"Sir you're putting waaaaay too much thought into this so I'm gonna need you to get aaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllll the way off my back about Chihiro's decisions." Screenwriter Guy stated.
"Well okay I'll get off of that thing."
"Thanks and so the killer Mondo, the biker gang leader, is executed and gets turned into butter."
"How?"
"Unclear, also Bayakuya actually saw Mondo leave but he messed with the crime scene to make it look like the work of this serial killer Genocide Jack, who is the alternate personality of Ultimate Writer Toko, to throw everyone off."
"Why would he do that? He knows that getting the wrong answer means death."
"He thought it be fun."
"This guy sounds like an asshole."
"A major asshole. Also she likes to stick her long tongue out like a snake."
"I could make so many jokes about that tongue of hers, but I got nothing."
"So in the next chapter we actually get 2 murders."
"Wait how many murders are there in each chapter?" Producer Guy asks
"Well the rules say you can only kill up to two people, cause if you just kill everyone then that would mean there'd be no class trial."
"Oh I was wondering about that."
"And so Ultimate Yasuhiro is pegged as the killer because he was found in this suspicious robot costume that was spotted, but it's revealed that it was Gambler Celeste after she snaps at her name being questioned."
"You know for being the Ultimate Gambler she really lost her cool pretty easily."
"Yeah and in chapter four we learned that this girl Sakura, the Ultimate Martial Artist, who was this protective super strong woman who looked after everyone."
"Aw she sounds great!"
"Is actually a mole for the mastermind after they took her family dojo hostage."
"Oh no." Producer Guy said.
"Yeah and she ends up killing herself in the hopes that it would end the killing game." Screenwriter Guy said.
"Ow my chest region!" Producer Guy grabs his chest.
"And in chapter 5 the trial is for this student that nobody seen before they found em dead."
"What's their name?"
"Mukuro Ikusaba, the 16th student, the one they call the Ultimate Despair, lying hidden somewhere within this school. Watch out for her."
"What was that?"
"I don't know."
"Anyway."
"Yeah so in the trial Kyoko is accused of the murder since she was awol the entire chapter, says she didn't plant the locker key that housed the murder weapon in her room because Bayakuya confiscated her room key."
"Well that should clear things up."
"But see the player actually learns that she had stolen a key from Monokuma that opens any lock in the school."
"Wait did she actually kill Mukuro?"
"No cause see this is actually a trap made by the mastermind to kill Kyoko because she's been snooping around the entire game and was close to uncovering their secrets."
"So what happens?"
"Well you either choose to expose Kyoko's lie and she gets executed, and all the 5 survivors live the rest of their days in the school. With Hina bearing Bayakuya, Hiro, and Makoto's children."
"Wait who's the fifth survivor? I counted 4."
"Oh Toko, the Ultimate Writer, and she's dead maybe."
"Uhhh-"
"But then you'll be brought back to that option and choose to ignore which will continue the game."
"Oh so that was like a bad ending."
"Yeah yeah yeah!"
"So how does the trial end?"
"Well Makoto is gonna explain how this whole trial is questionable but he gets voted as the killer and is set to be executed by this crusher."
"Oh man it's gonna be tough to get out that situation."
"Actually it's gonna be super easy, barely an inconvenience."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah cause he's gonna be saved at the last minute by this AI program named Alter Ego Chihiro made."
"A very helpful artificial intelligence!"
"And then we get to the final trial where we find out that the mastermind was Ultimaye Fashionista Junko, and that the students weren't there for a couple weeks, but 2 years and there was a world wide tragedy."
"Oh my lord."
"But everyone hands together and Junko puts herself through every execution."
"Why would she do that?"
"Because she's a psychopath."
"Right."
"And so yeah everyone alive leaves into the new world and we're done. So what do you think?" Screenwriter Guy asked
"I think it sounds like a fun time, and seems like a nice one time game." Producer Guy said.
