Indeed, for Curtis Hale, life couldn't be described as a box full of surprises. Even though his loss at WCW Power Plant could be described as something personal, luck began to smile for him even in the surprising loss he got against Jimmy Summer in the final tryout match. Being in Connecticut, at the WWF headquarters, he looked to the people training in the place, while Vince McMahon guided him during the place, Curtis smiled at the situation, almost seeing how things could go in this story. A chance between the story of the wrestling promotion created by the one person who also created "The Most Entertainment Spectacular of All Time" event: WrestleMania. A chance to live his story, his rise in WWF. In the same company that created not only the biggest pay-per-view of all time, but also the same event that was becoming the most popular between the wrestling promotions.
"You see, at WWF, I think at the chance future superstars can get at my company. No matter what can happen, Curtis, a rising star manages to do everything when it's has a personal spot in their minds. Let me guess, what do you want in your future? That's one question that most people have the need to answer when starting something greater."
"Only the future will answer my question, Vince. Indeed, I think I have a great shot to do something at my future. I've always grown seeing wrestling and I thought of my future as something far more greater than the expected. Jake Roberts, for an example. Almost like if there's legends being created in this place, one day at a time." Curtis knew that very well. In 1985, WrestleMania was the big gamble put into motion by the WWF. The event that would change an era and bring some audience to see the pinnacle of wrestling. - "And in your hands, WWF has the biggest star ever. After all, Hulkamania has a certain nation of fans that even I can be described as a movement between these walls that leaves me in disbelief.
"Well, it's a thought that even I'm surprised now." For Vince McMahon, wrestling was his life. Commanding World Wrestling Federation, in his mind, could be described as something far more unexpected than the usual. After everything that can happen, finding a future superstar, at least, that's what his own thoughts were during this talk. - "I'll give you a chance. Since I've seen you at Power Plant, Curtis, I have the perfect spot for your little debut. Saturdays, in Superstars. It'll be a good opportunity for you to showcase your skills and finesse during the matches. If you do well during this, I'll also give you spots in other of my programs, and I also have some other pay-per-views in mind."
"Just one day at a time dealing with the unexpected, boss."
"Good to see some respect, Curtis. Now, for your big debut, you'll need to show a certain outfit. Gimmick, personality, how your character will react in the ring. And how well do you now my program?"
"Enough to know that Superstars put the middle card jobbers for entertainment. Stars like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, etc. It's kinda of a certain surprise to see how things could fare in situations like this. I've always wanted to know how certain stars deal with things in the ring. I've seen WrestleMania III, honestly speaking. And I've seen how this event was the climax that your little event was being put into motion now. More than 93.000 people? That's enough audience for one night. I've been there in the audience, before I thought that could be only part of history. Seeing Randy Savage and Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. And the shocking moment when Hulk Hogan managed to bodyslam Andre the Giant. I've grown up with wrestlers that fought and molded their careers into something more. To become legends. That day, at WrestleMania, was the day I knew what I wanted in my life. And then, I've juggled to see how things would go and in the meantime, WCW continued its ascension lately. It's been only a few months, but it's a like meteoric rising that even I can't describe now. When I joined the Power Plant, I thought with this: Being part of the big boys could be a change for once, if I wanted to begin my future and career in great style. Now I'm kinda surprised with this change of scenario, for once. Indeed, Vince. I've seen most situations. And I'll gladly showcase what I can do now." Curtis showcased his knowledge that made Vince become more surprised than the expected. Even though he wanted a shot, Vince would give it gladly to him. Seeing ambition in his mind, to be a greatest superstar, he wanted something more. And he knew that very well.
"Ok. I'll put you into a match card for your debut. Your first match will be a surprise. After all, I think you need to understand something. Hulkamania is still running wild. WrestleMania IV was a situation after more unexpected than I thought. Most people see how things can go now and these last months, I can be sure that most situations involving Hogan or Savage, I still think that the feeling will be kinda ominous, Curtis. Not sure if these two are on the same page lately. Then, it came Summerslam, the first event I had in mind post Wrestlemania, and one of my finest pay-per-views yet and Macho Manwas still the champion." In a ironic way, Vince reminded Curtis on how things could be tough now in these situations. - "Think with me: The greatest event of the summer, the Mega Powers facing the Mega Bucks, in a tag-team match for the main event and the most important one of the last months. Now, Survivor Series is coming up and a part of me is almost thinking on how our next matches can describe surviving alongside everything else I have in mind for our future." Describing the next pay-per-view situation for him, Curtis knew how Vince was thinking ahead to do everything he wanted to bring some emotion on the next ideas he had in mind.
"Which guy I'll be facing on my debut, boss?"
"I'll keep it under wraps. After all, it's kinda surprising to see what can happen in the meantime. You can never expect which things will be part of our little show. WWF is home to most things, and I'll think you will be just fine. Your debut, as saturday, will be just part of our schedule. And I have one more surprise for you. I think you'll enjoy what I have in mind, Curtis." He saw his mind being taken by a certain curiosity. He wouldn't admit it, however, but for a man like Curtis Hale, surprise was something he could like very much. After all, wrestling can have its twists and turns when less expected.
Reaching into the locker room, Curtis saw a locker with his name, on which Vince gave a little tap into his left shoulder, seeing how things could go now. The smile on his face could be described as a certain feeling that can be as something far from his world, at least, for someone trying to make into this little journey, in his personal thoughts. No matter, it could be described as something far more unexpected for the journey that could be something surprising.
"I've saved you a locker from one of our guys. Welcome to the big leagues, Curtis." The locker that had his name was something that he imagined very well. Trying to make sure on how his future debut was holding on now, Curtis was seeing the first step on his dream. Without WCW, he was sure that being into a certain rival would be unexpected. - "You need to understand one thing. Most of these superstars are far more bigger than the usual, and most can be brute into certain bouts. But you can be sure that they don't bark. Much. After all, inside and outside the rings, we can give a certain show that most can't expect now."
"I know every single detail of what can happen into certain events. What's next?" He asked, almost in a sarcastic way, seeing how his eyes could be showcasing a certain curiosity on what would happen in the near future.
"After your debut, that's up to you. You will need to work a certain gimmick, personality and how you will want to make the public see you. There's nothing like a good debut and that's just the beginning." Vince said, making him notice how nervous Curtis Hale was now. In his mind, a dream coming true. Even though he wanted to go ahead with his match, his greatest wish was something that even Curtis couldn't describe now.
"Don't you worry, Vince. After all, surprise is something I can make now. No matter how my debut will be, it will be a great one."
Vince saw how Curtis was being guided now. Ambition. To make sure that his career could be greater as he expected. In his personal thoughts, the man responsible for catapulting WWF into something greater with WrestleMania was a situation that even he couldn't expect now. After all, seeing a new addition into the roster, making sure on how Curtis was sure that the future was awaiting most for him. Time by time, piece by piece. No one could predict the future. And now, for this, Curtis Hale was sure of one thing.
Win or lose on his debut, he would try and give everything in his mind.
To be continued…
Author's Note: Well, that's it for today, folks. This chapter was a little short, showing a certain glimpse from how Curtis will deal with certain situations now. The next chapter will also be short, but most of these chapters will be dealing with the points of view from both WWF and WCW in a way that will be very surprising. Also, I'm dealing with certain research, to be sure to make this story will be written without certain plot holes, involving both companies, however, you can be sure that we'll showcase the atmosphere of certain weekly events and pay-per-views in a faithfulness of certain eras. Being Hulkamania, we'll do our best to bring some additional emotion, after all, it's only the beginning, folks!
See you all next time, dear readers!
