Suzuki Sonoko was many things, heiress of the Suzuki Zaibatsu, richest teen in Beika and maybe in all of Japan, but the best thing Sonoko was none of, was that she was the most loyal friend one could have.
And Sonoko took her friendships with anyone seriously, mostly Ran and Shinichi, since they've known each other since kindergarten. And Sonoko didn't allow anyone to be her friend easily, knowing some people just see her for her money, and she wanted people who saw her for herself.
And then came Sera Masumi. Sure, she was cool being a detective and a fighter, but Sonoko didn't immediately let her be her friend, especially when the girl literally threw herself at them, but after some time, Sonoko accepted the girl as her friend.
And now Sonoko didn't like how Masumi had been depressed for the past few days, not laughing and joking with them. There was something going on, especially with how Sonoko spotted Masumi often throwing glances at Amuro, but with a sad broken look on her face.
And when Masumi asked Ran to sleep over at her for a couple of days, Sonoko decided to not stand by.
"Oh great, first the brat, now two other people are gonna live with me…. More costs…", Kogoro grumbled once he saw Sonoko and Masumi walking in with Ran, carrying sleeping bags. Masumi slightly winced while Sonoko glared at Kogoro, but Ran decided to end things.
"One, Okaasan is the one who pays for my tuition, which is the most costly thing. Two, my friends, my problem, but they actually aren't.", Ran answered coldly before she smiled at Kogoro, "And three, it's your job to provide for this family….".
Conan couldn't help but snicker at Kogoro's horrified look, enjoying it way too much, 'Oh, I love it when Ran does that to Occhan!'.
At night, the girls sat on Ran's bed wearing pyjamas, and Conan was sleeping, well, pretending to be asleep on his futon on the next to the bed, because Kogoro was snoring way too loud.
"So what's going on between you and Amuro-san?", Sonoko asked immediately making Conan raise an eyebrow curiously.
"W-what do you mean?", Masumi asked nervously.
"We've noticed you've been looking at him a lot.", Ran said.
"We know he is kind of cute and all, but you've looking at him way too much, with blushes and all.", Sonoko teased.
"And I saw him staring at her when she wasn't looking too!", Ran said making Masumi look at her hopefully for a second.
"For real? He is interested in me?!", Masumi asked in disbelief.
'Oi Oi… don't tell me Sera likes Furuya-san and he likes her too… Akai-san is not going to like that.', Conan deadpanned.
But just as she immediately became excited, she returned back to being gloomy.
"No… you must be a wrong. There is no way he likes me…", She shook her head.
"OKAY THAT'S IT!!!", Sonoko cried, making the girls and Conan nearly jump in their places.
"You've been gloomy, depressed, silent, and almost avoiding us… you were never like that! Now, you're going to tell me what the hell is going on, or else I'm going to strangle the truth out of you!", Sonoko cried as she stared Masumi in the eye.
Masumi blinked a few times and Sonoko and Ran didn't fail to notice the tears in her eyes she was trying to hold back.
"I'm sorry… I'm so sorry…", Masumi mumbled.
And she spoke up.
Conan was trying to register what had just happened… Masumi had told Sonoko and Ran everything, her family, the Organization, the poison, and him and her mother, why she befriended her.
"And so… when I tried to tell her about Amuro… She told me I'm only busy messing around and not getting her the antidote… And a guy like Amuro… whom I described to her… would not be interested in someone like me…", Masumi literally cried as Ran held her in a hug, trying to comfort her.
Sonoko was staring blankly at Masumi before she looked down at Conan and she said slowly, "So you're telling me… Ran was crying for Shinichi, and worried about him… while he was living with her and even saw her naked twice…".
"Sonoko… I knew later on and pretended to play dumb until he comes clean to me…", Ran explained.
Sonoko snorted as she moved near the bed and grabbed Conan from the back of his pyjamas, causing him to yelp.
"Well he is going to come clean now!", Sonoko cried, feeling pissed at her shrunken best friend, "Putting me to sleep huh?!".
"I had to then…", Conan replied dryly, confirming for Sonoko from his attitude that he was Shinichi.
"Oh really? So you HAD TO drug my father nearly everyday too?", Ran said, feeling pissed from Conan's reply, "And had to see me naked?!".
The color drained from Conan's face, "Ran… you insisted on the first… and the second was by accident…".
"You!", Sonoko shook Conan around before dropping him on the bed, "Will apologize to Ran and do as she pleases until she forgives you!".
"And you,", She pointed at Ran, "will talk to Azusa.".
"And you…", She finally pointed at Masumi and said angrily.
"Tell me exactly where you live…".
"Azusa-san, I don't understand why you're doing this!", Rei sighed frustrated as he sat at a table with Azusa placing a few drinks.
"You need a break, so have fun with your blind date!", Azusa said happily, "You need a special someone in your life, Amuro-san! And I know Haro is there, but I'm talking about a love interest.".
Rei was about to argue until the door to Poirot Café opened and he saw Ran pulling Masumi, before she pushed Masumi to sit across Rei.
"Ran-chan, can you help me?", Azusa asked.
"Sure.", Ran nodded. Masumi looked at Ran who winked at her while Azusa showed a victory sign.
They'd planned this date.
Rei and Masumi stared at each other silently before Rei smiled warmly.
"How've you been?", he asked.
"Good, cases here and there.", She answered shyly.
"Really? Tell me about them, because surprisingly no one has died around me yet.", Rei joked.
Masumi chuckled, "Yeah, whenever I go a murder does happen too.".
"So, are you a dog or cat person?", Masumi asked and felt immediately dumb for asking such a question to start a conversation.
"Dog, this is my boy, Haro.", Rei said as he pulled out his phone and showed her a picture of Haro.
Masumi immediately gushed, "Oh he's so cute!".
"I know.", Rei said as he rested his cheek on his hand, "But I'm looking at someone who might be more cute than him.".
Masumi's face turned red, before a shy warm smile spread on her face.
Mary raised an eyebrow at the knock on the door. "Did Masumi forget her key again?", She sighed heavily as she opened the door.
Her eyes widened in surprise once she saw Sonoko, who stomped in, closed the door and glared down at Mary.
"You! You call yourself a mother?!", Sonoko cried angrily. Mary narrowed her eyes dangerously at Sonoko.
"If you think you glaring at me would make me scared then think again Miss! I've been threatened, nearly killed, and abducted several times before! So I'm not scared of you Miss MI6!", Sonoko cried.
"You're overstepping child.", Mary said coldly.
"Yeah well I won't be staying long but listen well! Masumi's been doing her best for your sake and to live up to your expectations! And all you do is ignore her and then you tell her the man she's interested in won't like her?! Well she's on a date with him right now, how do you like that?!", Sonoko spat, "Masumi will be staying over at my house for some time to live in peace.".
Sonoko turned around and opened the door, before she glared back at Mary, "You know, I think your husband left you because of your Karen attitude not for a mention!".
And she slammed the door, leaving Mary in shock and disbelief at just happened.
Did she, a MI6 agent, just get rebuked by a teenager?
