Prologue

The night sky was filled with dark clouds and the rumble of thunder. When the clouds were ready to release their load, it came down heavily, making it almost impossible to see. A lone eighteen wheeler rumbled along a winding mountain road from the western side of a large island. The two men up front were uneasy about the conditions, but nonetheless had to push forward. Their cargo was supposed to have been delivered around two days ago, and the client was not happy with the delay. They were a big deal, especially where they were now. The ship dropping it off had to hold off it's departure due to a vicious storm that blew through. They were already behind, and now a storm had to come and strike the island now of all times. Within the mountains, with a large metal machine, they could be struck by lightning at any moment. They were assured they'd be fine, yet neither of them believed it. The setting was pretty much saying that something bad was going to happen.

On the horizon, they saw their destination of Mirage City, a modern city built upon the easern side of the United States. The area was designed to be a mix of rural and urban societies as it went across the island. The houses spread from the western side near the dock, which was placed due to safety reasons. The water on the wester side was perfect for docking large ships, while the east was much more shallow, and would risk sinking any ship that might come across it. The tides did not change much on that side either, making it impossible to land. The city was still built there though, and in record time too. The closer you got to the eastern side, the more homes would turn into apartments, and then skyscrapers. It was bizarre in it's design that way, but the man who financed it simply desired it so.

The men sighed with relief as they started their descent down the continuously winding road. But as they did so, they heard the sound of yelling and screaming. A light from the side of the road with the barrier had a car stuck in it, and it was burning. Someone seemed to be stuck in the car, and the other was waving them down. The driver looked at them as they got closer, and stepped on the brake, while the other looked at him as if he was crazy.

"Joe! What are you doing?" he asked his eyes wide.

Joe, the driver unlocked the door after parking the truck. "I can't just leave that guy in there!" he fought back. "Have you no heart, Malachi!"

"But we're going to be in big trouble with the boss and the client if we don't deliver this soon!" he pleaded. Though it was in vain. Joe was already ripping the car's door off and cutting the man loose. Malachi sighed and ran to help his coworker. The other man joined in as they got the man to safety, but Malachi noticed something.

"Wait, he's not burnt." He murmured to Joe. Joe nodded in confusion and agreement.

"Thank you so much, sirs." said the man from the car with a smile as he stood.

"No problem." Joe said as he gazed in awe at the man's form. He indeed was not burnt, nor did he seem hurt from the crash. Suddenly, more men, but with masks, came out from everywhere surrounding them. They each had firearms aimed directly at the two as they raised their hands in surrender. They heard the clatter of metal doors hit the ground from behind their truck as a man walked up to them.

He was wearing all black, including a full helmet of some sort, and they felt fear like they never had felt before. They could tell he was eyeing them up, even though they could not see his eyes. In his hand, he held something strange. It looked like a flashlight of sorts, but a rather advanced one made of black and silver metal.

"Thank you, gentlemen," he said in an intimidating voice, though he was obviously using a voice changer. It shook them to their core. "You saved my underlings from that horrible accident. That must mean I must reward you." He stepped closer to them as they shook.

"P-please let us go!" pleaded Joe. "We have families!"

"Oh! Do you now?" said the man, feigning surprise. "Well, I'll let you go then."

The two men looked at each other and then back at him. Malachi spoke up in surprise. "Really?"

"Of course not." with a flash, a beam of red light went right through Joe's head. Malachi stood in horror as it disappeared, leaving a crispy hole in Joe's head as he collapsed dead on the sidewalk. Malachi's eyes drifted down to the "flashlight" in the man's hand. It was like something out of Star Wars, a real saber of light.

"I see you're eyeing my toy, don't you like it?" the man asked. Malachi shook his head up and down quickly. "Yes! It's fascinating, s-sir! But may I ask how you did that?"

"Well, you brought me the last material I needed to finish this fine beauty," he replied as he rubbed the device gently and admired it. "I must thank you gentlemen once more. But I'm afraid that stalling for time is simply… useless." And with that, the blade of light reignited and went through Malachi's chest. The sizzle of the flesh and the blinding light remaining the last thoughts other than pain as he collapsed and fell into death's open arms. The man stood there over the new corpses with the blade still out and shining bright.

"It is a beautiful piece of work, right out of the famous movies. It was simply just engineering and some logic," he said to the corpses. "And it shall get him and I what we both want. Load up! And make sure the rest of the cargo is delivered as a gift to our friends here." he said, gesturing to Joe and Malachi's corpses.

As he walked to his car hidden behind the bushes, he muttered, "They have brought the beginning of a new era, and I Umbrās, shall rule all."

Main point of this prologue was to introduce one of our main villains, Umbrās. I pictured him similar to Kylo Ren, but things will be different. I don't plan on him become good in the end, so sorry folks if that's what you were looking for. I also know it might be weird that he wants to rule all of the world, but tbh who wouldn't want to be the king of the world(not me. Screw that XD). As I develop the story, I hope you will come to enjoy it! UwU

Until next time!
