Chapter 2

Center of chaos

Okay. Chapter 2 is ready to go. But first, the reviews.

Subterrarocks: Well, I'm using the original names, so Delia is Blue and Gary's father is Green and not the western name trade. But yeah.

kazikamekaze24: I may do some flashback to Ash and Kubfu growing up together. Though I will admit, I've never been good at writing slow pace. It's one of the main complaints among those that don't like my stories.

PokemonandPJOFandboy: Glad you're enjoying it.

UltimateCCC: And now it continues.

And now, dear friends... Let's kick it up!

Ash and Misty were riding on the back of the latter's bike, having just narrowly avoiding the eastward moving storm.

"Man. That rain is coming down hard back there." Ash commented as he and Kubfu looked back at the storm.

"Glad we didn't caught up in that." Misty said before she spied something off in the distance. "That's weird. Viridian City doesn't usually have checkpoints." She said nothing the Officer Jenny standing by the road.

"You two! Stop right there!" The blue haired police officer said as Misty brought the bike to a stop. "Where are you two going with that Pokemon!?"

"This is my partner, Kubfu. We're going to the Pokemon center." Ash explained while pulling out his Pokedex to show to the officer as both his identification and the registration of Kubfu as his own Pokemon.

"Okay. Everything seems to be in order. Sorry for the hold up. There have been reports of Pokemon thieves in the area. So you can't be too careful." Officer Jenny said.

"Yeah. I get that. It's okay." Ash said as his Pokedex was returned to him.

"Well, you kids take care now." Officer Jenny said, gaining nods from Ash and Misty before they continued on their way, not noticing the hot air balloon floating in the air above the city.

A short while later, those on the bike at Viridian City's Pokemon center. After Misty locked her bike up to the rack, the two then entered to be entered by the Nurse Joy of the center and her Chansey partner.

"Hello and welcome to the Virdian City Pokemon Center. How may I help you?" Nurse Joy asked with a bow.

"Just a quick checkup on our Pokemon and a couple rooms." Ash requested as he placed the Lureball down while Kubfu jumped on to the counter and Misty placed her three Pokeballs down.

"Of course, here are some room keys and Chansey and I will look after your Pokemon." Nurse Joy said, handing a pair of keys to Ash and Misty before she and her Chansey took the Pokemon in to the back for examination.

"Okay. I'm gonna go check in with my mom." Ash said to Misty.

"Alright. I am starving. So, I'll be in the cafeteria." Misty replied as the two of them walked in different directions.

Ash then sat down at the vid phone and dialed in home.

"Ketchum resi... Oh. Ash! Hi, honey! Where are you right now?" Delia asked in excitement at the call from her son.

"I just got to Viridian City. Thankfully, I found someone with a bike to give me a lift and avoid that storm on Route one." Ash explained.

"Yeah I heard about that. It sounds like it got pretty bad. I'm glad you're okay and that you got to Viridian that quickly." Delia said in relief. "Sad to say though, Green is out of town on a training trip. So no Gym battle there." She said.

"That's fine. I wasn't planning on it. I Doubt Garry was either. I don't want to make him the first Gym battle because he'd have to hold back. So, I'm saving Uncle Green for last." Ash said, with a spark visible in his eye.

"Heh. There's that Ketchum pride." Delia noted with a smile. "So I guess Pewter it Vermilion are going to be your next destination." She said, her son nodding in response.

"Yeah. I was thinking the same thing." Ash said before he heard the sound of the chime at the front desk. "Sounds like Kubfu and Chinchou are done with their checkup." Ash stated.

"Oh. A Chinchou. Good catch. You'll have to introduce me to it the next time you call." Delia said before she and her son bid each other fairwell and cut the call before Ash stood up to go over to the counter to pick up Kubfu along with Chinchou and Misty's Pokemon and began to walk towards the cafeteria.

Ash then went to grab a prewraped sandwich and a bottle of pinap juice before he went over to where Misty was sitting and placed her Pokeballs down in front of her.

"Thanks." Misty said before putting the balls in to her bag. "So where are you heading now?" She asked.

"Well from here, my options are taking the Rock Tunnel to Vermilion or the forrest to Pewter." Ash said before Misty began to think.

"You challenging the Gyms?" Misty asked, getting a nod from Ash. "Well. Let's see. What type is your Kubfu?" She asked , being unfamiliar with that particular Pokemon species.

"Fighting type." Ash said.

"Okay. So with your Chinchou, that means you should go to Pewter since they specialize in Rock types if I remember correctly." Misty suggested.

"Sounds like the best call. I appreciate the advice." Ash said, sharing a smile with the red head. The two then finished their meals and stood up before making their way over to the front room. Just as the two reached the stairs however, two Pokeballs smashed through the sun window before they oppened to reveal an Ekans and a Koffing which then let out a Smokescreen and Haze respectively before three shadows jumped in to the smoke.

"What the heck is going on?" Misty asked in a mix of fear and confusion as the smoke began to clear to reveal a woman with long red hair and a man with shoulder lengthen blue hair, both clad in white uniforms with red Rs on the chest.

"Prepare for trouble." The woman spoke.

"Make it double. The man said before the two continued their rhyme in that fashion.

"To protect the word from devistation."

"To unite all people within our nation."

"To denounce the evils of truth and love."

"To extend our reach to the stars above."

"Jessie."

"James."

"Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light."

"Surrender now or prepare to fight."

"Meowth! That's right!" Cheered a talking Meowth to finish the motto.

"What... the hell?" Misty asked with a sweat drop.

"Look James. We've rendered them speechless out of fear." The woman, Jessie said with a smug look on her face.

"No. Just... just confusion. Also didn't Team Rocket disband? Twice?" Ash asked.

"Heh. As if we could be truly taken down." James said with a smirk. "Now then. I'll believe we'll be taking your Pokemon starting with that clearly rare one." He said while focusing on Kubfu.

"No way you're getting your hands on Kubu." Ash said as both he and his partner prepared for battle.

"You don't have much choice, little boy. Ekans! Acid!" Jessie called out before the the snake Pokemon fired out the corrosive liquid from its mouth.

"Staryu! Use Harden!" Misty called as she called out her Pokemon which then gained an almost metallic gleam which it used to block the Poison type move. "Now! Swift! Push them out of the building!" She ordered as the star shaped projectiles were fired from Staryu's gem, forcing the attackers to make a retreat outside as the two trainers followed them out.

"You'll pay for that that one, you Twerps!" James said before ordering his Koffing to use Sludge.

"Kubfu! Freeze and grab!" Ash ordered before he had Kubfu jumped off of his shoulder and used an Ice Punch to freeze the attack before grabbing it and throwing it back at Koffing, causing it to fly back and almost hit Meowth.

"Why you little!" Meowth shouted as it rushed forward before attempting to use Fury Swipes against Kubfu.

"Ekans! Use Acid again!" Jessie called out before the Snake Pokemon fired its Poison move once more, the attack going past Meowth's head and hitting Kubfu head on and knocking him headlong in to Misty's bike, the acid melting through a good chunk of the front parts.

"Kubfu!" Ash called out in concern about his partner Pokemon being hit by a super effective move. He then reached to his belt and grabbed his Lureball. "Chinchou! I choose you!" He called out as the Water/Electric type appeared. "Use Electro Ball on Ekans!" He shouted as his Pokemon hit the snake Pokemon over to the feet of the Team Rocket members.

"Staryu! Water Pulse on Meowth!" Misty called as her starfish Pokemon fired out a pulsating blast of water which both damaged the Normal type and causing him confusion. Ash then looked back over to the bike to see Kubfu getting back on to his knee." The two partners then nodded to each other.

"Alright, Kubfu. Let's finish these guys off. Aura Sphere!" He shouted before Kubfu jumped up and formed a ball of energy in his hands before tossing it in to Meowth, launching him in to the rest of the attackers and sending them off in to the sky. Ash then ran over to Kubfu and knelt down to check on him.

"Is he alright?" Misty asked out of concern.

"Yeah. He'll be okay. No better place to take a bad hit than outside a Pokemon Center." Ash noted.

"Good. Now I can focus on being pissed about my bike." She said while looking over the damage.

"How bad is it?" Ash asked, getting a frustrated sigh in response.

"The brakes, front wheel and and chain are all wrecked. On top of that, I can't just go to any shop since the parts are all custom made in Cerulean." Misty said. Finishing off with groan as she kicked the broken wheel. "Daisy was right. I should have opted for a return bag." She said while shaking her head.

"I'm sorry about that. My uncle's the Gym Leader here though. I could ask him to fly you and the bike over on his Pidgeot when he gets back." Ash offered.

"Yeah. That'd be good. But I don't want to be stuck here for who knows how long." Misty said in frustration.

"Okay. Well, how 'bout we travel together and we just have my uncle send the bike over and call us up." Ash suggested before Misty took a moment to think.

"Yeah. I guess that's my best option." Misty said with a nod before Ash patted her on the shoulder.

"Alright. We should get some rest then and head out in the morning." Ash said, he and Misty nodding to each other before they walked back in to the Pokemon Center.

A small distance away Team Rocket were recovering from the blast and the fall.

"I can't believe we were beaten by those Twerps!" Jessie shouted while punching a tree.

"And what was that Pokemon the boy had?" James asked while he was patching up Ekans, Koffing, and Meowth.

"I'm not sure, pal. I've never seen any thing like it. But I can tell you right now, it's tough." Meowth said just as James finished wrapping his stomach.

"So what I'm hearing is, if we bring that thing. The boss would be ecstatic and we might even get a promotion out of it." Jessie noted before she, James and Meowth looked to each other each silently nodding in agreement that from that point, they would be targeting Kubfu.

The next morning, after confirming that Kubfu was perfectly healthy, Ash and Misty headed out and made their way north before they eventually arriving at the entry of Viridian Forest.

As the two are walking, Misty found herself looking up at the treeline, noticing several Weedle and Caterpie before she audibly shuddered.

"You okay?" Ash asked.

"Uh... Yeah. I'm just not a big fan of Bug types." Misty replied while squirming a bit.

"Well, just try not to worry and leave the battling to us. Right, Kubfu?" Ash asked, getting a nod and a double fist pump from his partner before he suddenly sense movement behind a tree. "What is it?" He asked before Kubfu adopted his fighting stance before the three looked to see something moving at them at a rapid speed?

Well there you go, guys. Really hope you like this chapter. Next time, Ash faces and hopfully catches a new Pokemon and continues the trek through Viridian Forest. Until then and as always... Keep on keeping on.
