Chapter 46

Everything is Different

Bella

We were both lying side by side on the forest ground.

Not exhausted, but absolutely satisfied after four more rounds of unrestrained sex. Wow ... After the fantastic bloodlust I suddenly fell into another frenzy, and I could not and would not stop myself.

I cocked my head to the side and looked at Emmett with a smile. Rays of sunlight found their way through the treetops and hit our skin. Fascinated, I looked at my naked body.

My skin glittered like a thousand diamonds.

"Bella, you are so beautiful!", he said breathlessly.

I looked away in embarrassment, but I noticed that my cheeks were no longer blushing.

"So are you. You are perfect. My eyes as a human were so bad. It was like I was seeing you for the first time properly - today!", I said.

He laughed.

"The glitter might be nice on you women, but on male vampires it just looks retarded," he said with a laugh.

I thought he looked perfect, even though he glittered.

I rolled my eyes.

"I think it's beautiful," I said.

For a while we were silent again and I watched the reflecting light on his body.

"And how do you feel, my little wild newborn," he asked a little later.

"Completely satisfied," I said with satisfaction, and he laughed out loud. "Well, it all feels so new. So much better, more beautiful, more accurate, more intense ... And I'm also a little confused ...", I continued talking.

"Mmm ... intense ..." he said, chuckling. "Why are you confused?", he then asked.

"I was just so ... so wild. Totally instinct-driven. And my thoughts were never so ... um ... unchaste. I was so uninhibited ... in hunting and in sex. I didn't hesitate for a second. And that confuses me because I've never been like that before," I stammered around.

Emmett chuckled softly and hugged me.

"Oh my Bella! Don't worry, we're all wild at first. You just have to learn to keep the impulse under control ... Although ... for all I care, you just have to control your thirst, the rest actually suits me just fine like this," he said, kissing me. "Shall we go home? You haven't really seen our house yet," he asked.

I nodded and looked for my clothes.

My underwear was no longer salvageable, Emmett had simply torn them off my body. Luckily I still had the white dress.

When I saw it, my breath caught in my throat.

"Oh, God! Did I look that bad?"

My dress was full of blood stains.

Emmett hugged me from behind.

"I thought it was pretty sexy," he said, kissing my neck.

I took the dress and put it on me.

Alice would go crazy, but why did she even dress me in a white summer dress. She knew I was going hunting, besides, here we were in freezing Alaska. Of course I wasn't freezing, but still.

Emmett put on his jeans. I looked at the floor where his torn T-shirt lay.

"Oops ... was that me?", I asked innocently and also a little shocked that I had literally torn his clothes off.

I looked around and saw the two trees that had given way under our force and the rock wall that looked like a wrecking ball had crashed into it. I hadn't even noticed that we had destroyed the landscape.

Emmett laughed when he saw the look on my face.

"Come on, let's race," he said enthusiastically.

I ran off without a start signal and he followed me instantly.

Running was great! When I was so totally focused on the smell of the blood earlier, I hadn't noticed how fast I could run. And yet I still recognized every little detail, the play of colors in the browns of the bark, the structure of each needle of the firs, every tiny ant on the ground. I could hear the wind moving through the mountains, running through the snow like a pack of wolves. It was intoxicating. All my senses were preternaturally strong. I was incredibly strong. I pushed myself forward off the ground to see how far I could jump at full power. I flew forward about seventy yards before landing back on my feet.

I heard Emmett's jumps behind me, but I was faster and followed our scent back to the house.

I was the first to arrive and the others were standing in front of the house smiling.

"What have you done to my Prada dress?", Alice asked hysterically.

I rolled my eyes.

"What did you expect?" I just said, and she hugged me.

"Oh Bella, I knew you would look beautiful! Come on, you have to see yourself," she said and already wanted to pull me into the house.

But for the first time in my life - or now existence - I could loosely release my hand from her grip. I wanted to say 'Hello' to the rest of my family first.

Jasper took a deep breath.

"Feels good to not want to bite you all the time anymore," he quipped.

Only now did I notice all his scars all over his body. And my instincts made me back away from him a little.

Esmé hugged me and gave me a kiss on the forehead. She was speechless.

"Let's go inside. We have a lot to do ..." said Carlisle.

Alice took me by the hand again. This time I let her drag me up to the bathroom, where she placed me in front of a large wall mirror.

My breath caught in my throat.

My chocolate-brown waves lightly played around my face and body to my waist. My face was just perfect. It clearly still had features of my former face, just more beautiful. But my eyes - they were blood red.

I looked in shock at Emmett, who was standing in the doorway smiling at me.

"Why are they red?", I asked, horrified.

I had seen red eyes only in vampires who drank human blood. Not that it didn't look kind of fascinating and beautiful in a weird way, but I could never, ever live like that among humans.

Alice gently touched my arm and I felt Jasper calm me down, so I didn't go crazy.

"It's like that with all newborns. Over time, they turn golden like ours - or black if you're thirsty," Emmett said.

I was relieved.

"What did Carlisle mean by 'we have a lot to do'?", I asked as we walked into the large living room.

"You have to learn to keep your thirst under control, even when you're around people. Then we have to go to Italy and pay a visit to the Volturis. We have to settle things with your father and with the school. Final exams would have been this week. Jake says the contract isn't broken, but Sam is still upset. Jacob wouldn't tell me why. And, of course, it would be interesting to find out if you have a gift, and if so, what it is," said Carlisle, who had just come into the room with Esmé.

I sighed softly.

Actually, all I wanted to do was enjoy my eternity with Emmett, hunting, drinking, running through the woods, swimming in the lakes, kissing him, touching him, and indulging in my lust whenever I wanted ...

My mind whirred back to the forest, and I peeked at Emmett.

Jasper cleared his throat.

"Bella ... could you try to keep your emotions under control?"

I saw Jasper pressing a pillow on his lap and had to laugh.

I completely forgot that he was not only influencing the mood of others but was also influenced by the mood of the environment itself. When I thought excitedly of Emmett, he must have felt the same as I did. Lust.

I shook my head to get other thoughts.

"What about Charlie? Where does he think I am?", I asked.

I found this point most important because I had no idea what to tell Charlie.
