Note: HELLO I am so sorry – I'm still here. Not done yet. Thank you for still being here too.
…
Donna didn't know how long the two of them stood in the bathroom in silence, her body fully engulfed in Harvey's arms as he held her like his life depended on it.
When he finally pulled back, his tear-stained face flashed with concern.
"We should go to the doctor," he said sternly.
Donna couldn't help but laugh, "Harvey," she started, her thumb gently sweeping over his cheek, "it's a little early for that."
"Donna, I'm serious, we need to make sure that everything is okay with this little bug of ours," he smirked.
Their little bug.
Donna smiled, "I'll call my doctor, but I already know she's going to tell me I need to wait a few weeks before they'll see me."
Harvey sighed, "Promise me you'll call anyways? You've been so sick and I just want to make sure you both are healthy."
The softness and concern in his voice nearly brought Donna to her knees. "I'll call her, but this is all normal," she placed a hand on her abdomen, "and I think she's doing just fine," she gave him a look.
Harvey's eyes widened. "She? Donna you've been pregnant for like five minutes how could you possibly –"
"Is this really the moment you're choosing to question my intuition?" she cut in, trying and failing to shoot him a stern look.
Harvey rolled his eyes, as an image of Rosie and a little girl with red curls running around their house flickered in his mind.
A house. They were going to need a bigger place.
"Harvey," Donna started, "I can hear you thinking."
He sighed, looking around the place he had called home for over a decade.
"We're probably going to need some more space," he gave her a half smile.
The softness overpowered the hesitation in his statement, but Donna could sense the conflict that came with considering giving up the condo.
"Harvey," she pressed closer to him, "we have time; there's no need to make any crazy changes just yet. We've done enough of that in the last 6 months," she let out a laugh.
He smiled, "We're on a roll, why stop now?"
Donna rolled her eyes as she leaned up to give him a quick kiss. "Because right now, all your daughter would like is a bacon, egg, and cheese on a nice toasted bagel."
Harvey smiled, "Is that so?"
Donna gave him a little pout.
"Well then," Harvey knelt down in front of her and placed a gentle kiss on her stomach, sending shivers up Donna's spine.
"Hi baby," he whispered, so quietly that Donna could barely hear him, "I can't believe you're really in there," he swallowed his tears, "It took us a little while to figure it out, but I think we've been waiting for you forever."
Tears stung Donna's eyes as she ran her fingers through Harvey's hair, looking down at the sight below her.
"Mommy thinks you're a girl, and I've never been one to tell her she's wrong," he glanced up at Donna with a smirk. "She also said that you could use some breakfast, and with the order she just gave me, I think the two of us are going to have a lot of bagel dates in our future."
Donna's heart swelled at the thought of weekend mornings spent with their little girls; breakfast at their diner, a walk to the park, a museum, the zoo. Rosie showing her little sister her favorite animals and the little girls sharing pancakes with a healthy side of whipped cream.
"Harvey," Donna tried to draw his attention back up to her, "let's get Rosie after breakfast."
Harvey gave her a puzzled look as he stood back up, "Donna, I just dropped her off and she's been at home so much lately, you should take the day and just rest."
Donna shook her head as she slipped her arms around him, "I want to hold both of my babies," she paused, "allowing me to be Rosie's mom was the most incredible gift anyone has given me, Harvey, but giving me this baby, our baby –" she took a deep breath, "you have made all of my wildest dreams come true over and over again. Sometimes it's hard to believe that it's all real."
Harvey beamed as he looked into Donna's eyes. She was already the mother of his child; she had deserved that title since the first day she met Rosie. But for them to be having this baby together; Harvey could hardly breathe at the thought of 12 years coming together to create a life that he had been subconsciously hoping for for over a decade.
Harvey pulled her into a long kiss. "Fine, breakfast first, then we can get Rosie. At 10am they have music class and Miss Amy told me that's her favorite thing right now, so we should at least give her that before we steal her back," he smirked.
Donna shook her head smiling, the amount of love he had for Rosie was unmatched. If she wasn't already pregnant with his kid, she'd take him to bed right now.
Harvey could sense a shift in her mood and pulled her into another long kiss. "Hungry?" he asked, his voice deepening.
"Mmhm" she responded, her eyes still shut as she pulled back from the kiss, "starving."
