Chapter 6

That small factory fire soon turned big when some chemicals inside caused an explosion.

Lexa had been searching near the same area when it had occurred. She was currently lying down, staring at the roof. She'd been thrown with the impact of the blast and she seemed to be pinned down. Her head was killing her. She thought to herself that she must have hit it during the blast. She knew she had to move, she couldn't sit here. And so she started to try and push whatever was on top of her off. She struggled to get any grip on it for a few seconds before finally finding a footing a shoving as hard as she could. The item in question soon shunted and Lexa managed to shuffle out. With the fire ablaze around her, she tried to get her bearings. She was just starting to recognize the area she was in as what she'd previously walked though when the mayday call came through her radio. It was Lt. Blake. He'd been on the first floor of the factory, doing a sweep of the offices with his team when the explosion occurred. Now it seems, he was on the ground floor and was cornered by the fire. Lexa heard him say north west corner and soon started to make her way towards him. Roan soon stepped in line with her, after also hearing the call. The pair had been split momentarily during the blast but were now back by each other side.

As they approached the door, presumably leading to the Lt, Chief Indra came across the radios, commanding everyone to retreat. Lexa knew she couldn't leave a man behind but that she also couldn't put her team in danger. She grabbed the halligan that Roan was carrying and ordered him outside. He tried to protest but she barked the order again and he relented. Lexa looked around, now alone, she knew she needed something to aid her. She soon spotted an extinguisher on the wall nearby and grabbed it, placing it at her feet as went to work on the door. She was jamming the halligan against the hinges, never relenting until they popped off and the door started to fall towards her. She soon jumped back grabbing the extinguisher with her free hand and proceeding into the room.

Outside, Lincoln was holding Octavia back. She was fighting him, wanting nothing more than to run in the burning building to rescue her brother. Everyone was waiting on baited breathe as a figure started to emerge from the flames. Octavia feel to her knees when she saw it was Roan, followed by Murphy. She cried. She knew Murphy was partnered with her brother on the search. Which means they were separated and Bellamy was alone.

Roan made his way towards the girl, and Indra made for Roan.

"Where's Lexa?" She demanded. Roan looked at Octavia and then to the Chief before answering.

"We heard Bellamy over the radio and we both made our way towards the north east corner but when you ordered us out, she grabbed my halligan and ordered me to leave." Indra shook her head, a little pride at knowing Lexa would never leave a man behind but also furious at her for disobeying a direct order.

"WOODS! UPDATE NOW!" she shouted over the radio.

The entire battalion was waiting. Waiting for anything. Everyone had now vacated, except for Lexa and Bellamy. Octavia was collapsed against Lincoln, her eyes glued to the front of the factory for any signs of movement, Clarke was next to her, worry evident on her face for both her old friend and new. Raven stood and a attention, waiting to jump into action. Hoping to jump into action. And everyone else surround them all, waiting. Waiting on movement. Waiting on orders. Hoses aimed and ready to douse the flames.

Just waiting..

"WOODS!" Indra demanded again.

Back in the fire Lexa was low, thick black smoke surrounding her as she made her way towards the incessant chirping of the other lieutenants PASS device.

She soon found Bellamy, his leg trapped under some debris. She moved quickly. Removing the chunk of rubble from him. She heard her radio blare out but she ignored it, focusing on her current task of setting the Blake boy free.

"Blake, you think you can walk?!" She all but shouted at him in question. He nodded. Lexa pulled hi to his feet. Wrapping an arm around his waist as her other hand pulled his over her shoulder, supporting him like a crutch. Her radio went again.

"WOODS!" She once again ignored it, focusing solely on Bellamy and some kind of route out of the infernal blaze around them. The heat was surrounding them but she pushed forward. Determined that she wouldn't lose yet another life. The pair continued forward, the flames lapping at them.

BOOM!

Another explosion tore through the building from the back.

Octavia collapsing to her knees, tears streaming down her face as she screamed her brothers name.

Lincoln following her to the floor, refusing to let go of the woman he secretly had feelings for.

Indra's head fell to her chest as she tried not to let her emotions get the best of her.

The whole team, was stood, stunned, at what had just happened.

Clarkes breath caught in her throat and Ravens hand had reached for her own. Both girls standing there in shock.

No one knew what to do.

Indra composed herself and was about to call for engine to open the hoses. Fearing nothing could be done for the two lieutenants now, and just hoped that maybe they had not been near the explosion. She hoped, but knew it was unlikely. Before she could finish her order someone shouted.

"STOP! DON'T!"

It was Clarke. She'd dropped Ravens hand from her own and was sprinting to the building, medical bag in her clutches. Raven soon realised why and was hot on her heals.

"Get ready engine!" Indra commanded. "The moment they're clear, you open the cannons!" She breathe a sigh of relief at the scene in front of her but held her composure.

Lexa was emerging from the fire with Bellamy clinging to her. Both were on their feet but struggling as Clarke and Raven met them and took Bellamy from her arms. The two medics wrapped Bellamy up and manoeuvred him towards the ambulance. Octavia met them and was asking Bellamy if he was okay. Lincoln grabbed her hand as Bellamy replied that it was just his ankle and he'd be fine. Lexa was tucked in behind them and it didn't take long or Clarke to look back, worry etched on her face as she asked Lexa if she was okay too.

Lexa nodded and said she was okay, completely forgetting about her pounding head, focused more on finding out if her fellow lieutenant was really okay.

Lexa hung back as Raven and Clarke gave Bellamy the once over, bandaging his foot for support but noting that it was just twisted and he just need to rest. Although he'd still have to head to the hospital for a proper check up. Rules are rules, they had both said when he complained.

Clarke soon turned her attention back to Lexa. Grabbing her chin and forcing her to look at her. She pulled out her pocket torch and began to examine Lexa. Protest be damned.

"Clarke, I'm fine." Lexa whined. Trying to get out of the blonde beauties grasp.

"I'll be the judge of that." Clarke simply replied. Lexa knew it was futile to fight her after just witnessing Bellamy being forced to go to the hospital. Raven currently double checking his vitals in the back of the ambo. Lexa grunted slightly as Clarke shined a light in her eyes. Clarke immediately told her she was going to the hospital with them as she thought she might have a mild concussion. Lexa went to protest but was cut off before she could say a word by Clarkes glare. She sighed, defeated, and followed Clarkes instruction the jump in the passenger side. They soon zipped off, leaving the rest of 23 to battle the blaze.

Upon reaching the hospital, Lexa had been whisked away for a head CT and Bellamy was told he had a slight sprain and just need to rest and ice his ankle for the next few hours. With no strenuous activity for the rest of shift. He wasn't happy about essentially being put on desk duty for the next 17 hours.

Lexa soon returned with an all clear. There was no concussion but she would have a headache for the foreseeable future. She shot a cheeky smile at Clarke and mouthed an 'I told you so' earning an eye role from Clarke. The little interaction didn't go unnoticed by either Raven or Bellamy.

The two lieutenants were soon discharged and the four of them were heading back to the station.

Raven had sent a text to Octavia and the Chief, informing them of Bellamy and Lexas conditions.
