Fly To The Moon
"What on earth are you wearing?" Harry asked, brow furrowing as he looked over Ginny's ensemble. It was… colourful. "Were you particularly confused when you were getting dressed this morning, or…?"
She whacked his arm none too gently, and then wrinkled her nose at him. "I had a late night, and couldn't be arsed to look for an actual work out set, so I just picked up whatever was closest. Maybe I would be a bit more functional if you didn't drag me out for runs before the sun is even properly up."
Harry rolled his eyes. "Just because it's cloudy, hun, doesn't mean the sun isn't up yet."
"Yeah, yeah, you're the worst kind of morning person. Are we ready?"
"You haven't stretched yet," he pointed out, still marvelling over the burnt gold running shorts she'd paired with her sage green sports bra. Alone, those two wouldn't be so bad, he supposed, but the maroon knee-high socks and the silver cap really brought the whole thing to a next level disaster of an outfit.
"I'll be fine."
"That could possibly be true, but since I'm the one that will have to listen to you bitch about cramp later, how about you save us both the torture and stretch now. I'll go and get you a bottle of water. Since you forgot yours. Again."
She huffed at him but began her stretches as he jogged away from her to the small shop nearby. It was going to be a long morning, he could already tell.
By the time he got back, she was fully stretched, and he handed her the water before they set off, his own hooked to his running belt that also held his phone, keys and some money.
He never used to carry money with him, but it was guaranteed that by the time they made it to the cafe in the park, Ginny would be begging for coffee and something hellishly sugary to counteract the exercise.
Heathen.
…
"You're a sadist," Ginny complained, panting, when they paused halfway around the park. "You hate me, don't you? That's why you're doing this to me."
"You were the one that asked if you could come with me," Harry pointed out. "My morning runs were a lot more peaceful before you started coming along."
She snorted. "And a lot more boring."
"I don't know, there's a lot to be said for peace and quiet," he quipped. "Are you ready to continue?"
"Absolutely never," she replied, even as she replaced the lid on her water bottle. "Think we can take it a bit slower for the second half?"
Harry shrugged. "Sure, though don't think I don't know it's because Draco and Theo were planning to be here this morning to play tennis, and you want to ogle Theo."
"Like you're not planning to drool over Draco," she scoffed.
Harry manfully ignored her.
"You know, maybe you wouldn't run so much if you were getting laid," she pointed out, and when he glanced her way, he could see the wicked grin tilting up her lips.
"My love life is perfectly fine, thank you very much. You need to get laid," he returned. "And quickly, if last night was anything to go by."
"Bah, boys are shit," she grumbled. "The good ones screw you, the bad ones screw you, and the rest don't know how to screw you."
Harry laughed. "Drunk you doesn't seem to care about that. In fact, the amount of complaining you did last night—"
"Oh god, don't remind me. This is why I shouldn't be allowed to go to dorm parties," she said, shaking her head. "I think I propositioned Ernie after you left, you know."
"McMillan?"
"Yep."
"Yikes."
"Yep."
Harry shook his head. "Ron didn't say anything?"
"He had his tongue down Brown's throat again. Pretty sure he didn't even know I was there for the most part."
Rolling his eyes, Harry replied, "He's going to regret that today."
"Doesn't he always?"
Harry chuckled, and slowed his pace a little more as they neared the tennis court. He could already see Draco's blond hair. Ponce.
"What's going on with you and him now?" Ginny asked, nodding her head to Draco as she matched her pace to his. "I know you made out at the bonfire last week."
Harry shrugged. "I'm not sure. He's hot and cold and giving me a headache, honestly. I'm not sure he knows what he wants."
Ginny rolled her eyes. "I told you boys were shit."
"When you're right, you're right," he replied. They stopped running when Draco waved at them as they drew level with the court, and walked over to the bars that surrounded it.
"Hey," Draco called, waving with the hand holding his racquet. Harry snorted when he seemed to realise what he was doing and blushed furiously. "Are you two heading to the cafe? We're almost done here."
Harry nodded. "That's where we'll be finishing up. See you there?"
Draco grinned, nodded, and then served another ball. Harry and Ginny watched them for a moment, before Harry nudged Ginny's shoulder. "I think the coffee is calling."
"Oh god, yes."
…
The cafe was filled with students from their university already when they arrived, but they managed to snag a table on the outer edges of the outdoor patio. By the time Draco and Theo joined them, they were already on their second drinks—coffee for Ginny, strawberry lemonade for Harry—and a second doughnut for Ginny.
Theo joined them at the table while Draco swerved around the tables to get their drinks, and Ginny wrinkled her nose at Theo when he lit a cigarette.
"That's such a disgusting habit," she complained.
He grinned at her, tipping his sunglasses onto the top of his head. "Perhaps. But it's so satisfying that I don't care."
"You should save it for after sex," she pointed out, meeting his eyes with a salacious grin. "That's the only time smoking makes sense."
"Oh, I think I'm plenty able to satisfy anyone enough that they wouldn't need to smoke."
"My poor, innocent ears," Harry muttered, shaking his head. "You two are disgusting and should definitely just go and fuck, and get it over with."
"No need to be so virginal, Harry," Theo teased, shaking his head. "We know you're not as innocent as you make yourself out to be."
Harry snorted, stealing some of Ginny's doughnut from her plate. "You know nothing."
Draco returned, folding into a chair in his usual graceful way.
"Who knows nothing about what?"
"We're just discussing Potter's innocence," Theo replied with a grin. "Or lack thereof."
Draco looked up at Harry and grinned. "Yeah, you're not innocent."
"Never said I was," Harry replied. "But if it means I don't have to listen to these two flirting, you can be sure that I will play at it with the best of them."
"Oh, ew, yes, fully approve of that plan," Draco agreed, grimacing. "You two should just fuck and get it over with."
"That's what I said," Harry said, grinning at Ginny, who was glaring at him over her food.
"It's not for lack of trying on my part," Theo pointed out, raising a challenging eye at Ginny.
"I'm not going to sleep with you," she said, leaning back in her seat. "You're not exactly known for your commitment, Nott, and I won't be just another notch on your already scratched bedpost."
"You wound me, Weasley," Nott complained. "I'd fly to the moon and back, if you'd be my baby. Won't you give me a chance?"
Harry and Draco made matching faces of horror, before Ginny started laughing, a full-on belly laugh that shook the table where her leg was resting against it.
"Does he rehearse lines like that in the mirror?" Harry asked Draco in a stage whisper. "Because… ew."
"You're just jealous you don't have my charm," Theo said, shaking his head.
Harry nodded solemnly. "Yes. That's definitely it. I'm jealous."
Theo nodded. "I knew it."
Ginny shook her head. "You're all insane and I'll never forgive Ron for introducing me to you."
"Uh, excuse you, Weasley didn't introduce you to us," Draco pointed out, wrinkling his nose. He and Ron had the strangest dislike of each other; it was ridiculous. "You can blame Potter for that."
"Ron introduced me to Harry," Ginny pointed out. "So, semantics."
"I just don't want him to be blamed for anything in my life," Draco replied, shaking his head. "How the two of you are related when you're… you and he's… that, I'll never know."
Harry snorted. "Your dislike of him is irrational."
"It is valid."
"Stupid," Ginny put in. "But then again, so is his dislike of you."
"They're both jealous," Theo said, as though it were obvious. Draco stared at him like he had just told them he was actually an alien from Mars, come to infiltrate their university. "Because they have to share Harry's attention when they both want him all to themselves."
Draco scoffed, apparently entirely unimpressed with the theory, but Harry couldn't help but be aware that he didn't deny wanting Harry's attention.
"Well, on that cheerful note," Harry said, when nobody said anything for a few moments, "I think we need to finish up our run, Gin. I've got an afternoon class today."
She nodded, though she wrinkled her nose at the thought of more running. He grinned at her before glancing at Draco and Theo. "I'm sure we'll see you both soon."
"Are you going to the party at Ravenclaw tonight?" Theo asked.
Harry shrugged. "Maybe, I'm not sure. Depends if Ron is spiralling because he made out with Lavender again. It's never safe to allow Ron and Hermione together in a room when he's spiralling about Lavender."
Ginny laughed, and then bit her lip to stop herself, knowing she probably shouldn't enjoy her brother's pain quite so much.
"Just leave him at home," Draco huffed. "We'll see you there later."
Harry rolled his eyes but nodded, and as they got up from the table, he reached over to mess up Draco's hair, laughing when the blond protested loudly at the 'crime.'
"You enjoy annoying him entirely too much," Ginny pointed out as they set off back towards the University at a light jog.
"I think it's just enough, actually."
"You have a crush," Ginny teased.
Harry glanced her way. "Bold of you to tease me when you're in the same boat, Gin."
"Shut up."
…
Harry fixed the collar of his leather jacket before he followed his friends into the Ravenclaw house. The music was loud, the drinks were clearly already flowing if the few people laid out on the grass outside were anything to go by, and Harry was already regretting showing up.
It wasn't that he didn't enjoy the campus parties, but the Ravenclaw parties always got messier than the others. Despite their being known for being the most studious frat house, they were also the hardest partiers.
"Potter! I'm so glad you're finally here," Theo greeted, throwing his arm around Harry's shoulders and expertly guiding him away from Ron, Neville and the others he'd come with. "Maybe Draco will stop being moody now."
"I'm not moody," Draco protested, as Harry was unceremoniously deposited beside him. "I'm thinking!"
"Well stop thinking, because it makes you look constipated," Theo replied. "I'm going to go find me a Weasley."
"Make sure it's the right one," Draco called to his best friend's back, before he turned to Harry. "Hi."
Harry grinned. "Hi."
"Did you even manage to get a drink before Theo accosted you?"
"Nope. I'd literally just walked through the door. We had a hard time convincing Seamus that he didn't actually need to finish his bottle of vodka before leaving the dorms."
Draco grimaced. Seamus and vodka never ended well. "The poor Ravenclaws are going to be cleaning up so much vomit tomorrow unless someone is watching him and can throw him out the door in time."
"Ron is on Seamus duty."
Draco nodded. "Ravenclaw is doomed."
Harry couldn't do anything but agree, especially when he saw across the room that Hermione and Lavender were talking. That wasn't going to end well for anyone involved.
"Come on," Draco said, drawing his attention back. "Let's get a drink. There's only one way I'm making it through tonight, and that way definitely isn't sober."
They got their drinks and found a relatively empty place in the kitchen to settle up against the wall. This was Harry's favourite part of parties—the people watching.
They chatted quietly, laughing at the antics of the others occasionally, and Harry was feeling delightfully tipsy when a large crash from the living room sounded—followed by raised voices that he, unfortunately, recognised.
Pulling away from the wall, he led the way into the living room to see what the commotion was, Draco hot on his heels. Ron and Theo were glaring at each other, and Ginny was on the floor, shouting at her big brother.
Harry dropped to his knees beside her, checking her over for injuries even as he asked her what was happening.
"That bloody idiot overreacted when Theo kissed me. He was trying to pull Theo away from me but he pushed me over instead. Tit."
Draco, still standing a little behind Harry, helped him back up to his feet, and as Harry walked towards Ron, Draco stayed behind with Theo, helping Ginny back to her feet and dusting her off.
"They—"
"Time to go, Ron," Harry said, pushing him lightly towards the door.
"But—"
"Now," Harry snapped, his tone offering no room for argument.
They made it outside and a little away from the house before Harry stopped. "You wanna tell me what the hell that was in there?"
"She's my little sister!"
"You didn't seem to care last night when she was hitting on Ernie," Harry replied flatly. "Or was that because you and Lavender were playing twister with your tongues?"
"McMillan?" Ron asked, wrinkling his nose.
Harry just raised his eyebrows.
"You don't get it, Harry. You don't have a little sister. We all know what Nott's reputation is and—"
"Look, I know you don't like him," Harry interrupted. "But she's old enough to make these decisions for herself. And you can say I don't have a little sister, but I love her like she is one anyway, and if you think I'd ever let Theo get away with anything where she's concerned, you don't know me at all."
"But—"
"I can't tell you what to do, Ron, but you getting involved is the only thing that got Ginny hurt tonight. She's in there now, annoyed only with you, and Theo is the one looking after her. Do you really think that trying to keep them apart is going to do anything but push her more towards him?"
Ron sighed. "I just want to protect her."
"I know," Harry replied, softening a little. "But this isn't the way to do it."
Ron shuffled his food against the ground. "I should go and apologise, right?"
Harry nodded. "Yep. To both of them. And also, make sure Seamus gets outside soon, because I saw him in the kitchen a little while ago, and he was uh, not in good shape."
"Shit."
"Yeahhhh."
…
"Let me die in peace, please," Ginny requested, flopping down on the blanket Theo and Draco had already laid out on the grass banking in the middle of campus.
Harry sat down beside her and they were quickly joined by their other friends. Some had brought their own blankets, and the grass soon resembled the oddest looking patchwork quilt.
It was sunny, their first truly hot day of the spring, and Harry took a moment to appreciate Draco in a vest, his tattoos poking out. God but that was hot.
Draco noticed him looking and grinned at him, making Harry blush slightly.
"Ugh, I can't wait for the weekend," Ron said, from the blanket beside theirs. "It's Gryffindor's turn to throw the party, right?"
Harry nodded, pushing his sunglasses over his eyes. At least that way, he could look his fill at Draco without being caught.
"Smile, Harry!"
Harry looked up to the sound of a camera going off, and he was suddenly glad for the glasses as the flash blinded everyone.
"Colin, what did we say about unexpected pictures," Hermione said, the familiar lecturing tone making Harry smile.
"Not to do them," Colin, a freshman that had taken a shine to their group and Harry in particular, replied sheepishly. "Sorry."
"It's fine," Harry said, waving him off. "Though I still expect the photo album at the end of the year.
Colin grinned at him. "Of course!"
He scampered off, camera swinging around his neck, and Draco snorted. "Why do you put up with him?"
"He's doing no harm," Harry replied. "Though I was ready to kill him last week when he stuck his camera in my face the morning after the Ravenclaw party. Camera flashes and hangovers are definitely not a good mix."
"You should have stabbed him with your water bottle," Theo said.
Harry blinked, and Draco turned to look at his friend. "Pretty sure that's not how that works, mate."
"Yeah, I didn't think that through. Fuck you, I've spent the last two hours in Biology. My brain has been fried, brought back to life, and then fried again."
"Well, you did choose to be a mad scientist," Draco said, shrugging. "I don't know what possessed you to do that in the first place."
"Just because you're too up your own nose to get your hands dirty—"
"I happen to like getting my hands dirty," Draco interrupted, winking at Harry. "Just not on people's guts and organs. There are better ways to get inside a person."
There was silence for a moment, and then Harry, Theo and Ginny started laughing. Hermione was just staring at the blond in disbelief.
"Wow," she said eventually, shaking her head. "You do make friends with charming people, Harry."
"I know," Harry agreed, grinning cheekily at her. "Like attracts like."
"What are you doing tonight?" Draco asked, kicking Harry's leg gently with his foot.
Harry shrugged. "Got nothing planned."
"Netflix and Domino's?" he offered, ignoring Ginny's "ooooh," quite well, in Harry's opinion.
"Sounds like a plan."
…
"I… am thinking very impure thoughts about you, Harry Potter."
Harry laughed, leaning into Draco. "Do tell."
"I'd rather show," Draco replied, slurring slightly. He bit Harry's shoulder playfully, his hands moving over his arse for a cheeky squeeze. "Come back to my room tonight?"
"I've been in your room every night for the past four," Harry pointed out, shifting so he was standing in front of Draco. The blond immediately pulled him closer, until they were pressed together.
"So let's make it five," Draco replied, pressing open mouthed kisses against Harry's neck. "Or six, or seven, or eight."
"Sounds awfully like a relationship, Draco," Harry pointed out, using one hand to tug Draco's face up so they were looking at each other. "I thought you didn't want one of those?"
He hadn't been planning to confront Draco like this—especially not when they'd both been drinking—but he just had to know what they were doing.
Draco rolled his eyes. "Harry, I haven't even looked at anyone else for over five months. We've been in a relationship, even if I didn't want to admit it."
He paused to suck a mark into Harry's jaw that Harry knew would be purple by the morning.
"Draco," he scolded.
Draco grinned at him. "Come on, baby, don't make me fly to the moon and back. Theo might be willing to leave Ginny for that long, but I don't wanna leave you for a second."
"Oh god, why are you like this?"
"You love it," Draco murmured.
He pressed his lips against Harry's and Harry gave into it, melting into the kiss the way he always did, because Draco's eyes were the perfect shade of grey, and his athletic body fit perfectly against Harry's, and because he was, somewhat unwillingly, victim to his utter adoration for the ridiculous man that was kissing him.
When they parted, Harry grinned at Draco and nudged their noses together. "I'll come and stay tonight."
Draco grinned. "Knew you'd see reason, boyfriend."
…
They walked, hand in hand, in the rain, and Harry had never felt so utterly domestic in his twenty years of life.
When they arrived at the cafe, Theo and Ginny were already at the table, sickeningly feeding each other bits of food from their plates.
The temptation to tease them was hard to ignore as Harry sat down, shuffling across the booth so that Draco could slide in after him.
"You two are gross," he told them seriously, tugging his hat from his head and laying it, along with his coat, on the radiator beside their booth to hopefully dry them off a little.
"Oh, like you two can keep your hands off each other," Theo replied, looking at where Draco had already draped his arm over Harry's shoulder, hugging him into his side. "Sure. We're the gross ones."
"He's just warming me up. You'd never think it was almost summer, the weather is grim today."
"I know," Ginny agreed. "I definitely missed our run today, Harry. Totally missed it. I'm devastated, even."
"I suppose it's a good thing that the weatherman said to anticipate a heatwave in the coming weeks then, isn't it?" Harry teased, laughing when Ginny groaned theatrically.
"I can't wait for summer," Draco declared, smiling at the waitress when she fetched their regular order.
"What are you two doing?" Ginny asked, curious.
"We're going to Thailand," Harry replied with a smile. "We're spending a few weeks at an elephant reserve there, before we move onto India."
"You're travelling the whole summer?" she asked, brow furrowing. "Seriously?"
"We'll be back a week before Uni starts again," Harry assured her. "And we're not leaving until the twentieth."
She sniffed but nodded. "Fine, fine. Just leave me here, all alone. I understand."
"You'll be with Theo," Draco pointed out. "And your enormous family."
"But Harry is special."
"I know," Draco agreed. "Why do you think he's mine? I only accept the best, you know?"
Harry rolled his eyes, but pressed a kiss to Draco's cheek. "Stop being smug."
As the waitress brought their food—and Ginny ordered another sugary monstrosity—Harry settled into his breakfast with a smile on his face.
Life was good, and it was only going to get better.
