Cooper woke up at around 7 pm. Still got tonnes of time. He reached for his phone that lay charging on the bedside table. He unplugged it, and checked the news like he always did.
Another child has gone missing today, as authorities attempt to track down the culprit to no avail. Tallied up, that makes around 31 missing children in the past month alone. Cooper's stomach dropped, he turned slightly pale.
She wasn't the killer? He thought to himself. He kept on reading. Parents have been advised to closely monitor their children and report all and any suspicious person/s.
"Oh god."
The clock had struck twelve, and Cooper had clocked on. He imagined nothing interesting would happen tonight, just him talking and hanging out with his friends. He walked out of his office, and into the lobby. Place was as clean as ever.
He walked up the stairs, past the golden Freddy statue and into the elevator. He walked out into the atrium, the same feeling came back. This place is magical.
He was hungry, he had skipped breakfast? No, dinner. it was hard to tell what time meant for what meals when you had a job as a nightguard.
He walked up to one of the 'restaurants' and gave a staff bot his order. Ham and cheese pizza. Pretty basic, but delicious nonetheless.
He waited at a nearby bench for around 5 minutes before hearing his name called.
"Your order is ready sir." A metallic voice spoke. One that lacked any emotion. He paid upfront, and took his order. "Thanks." He wasn't sincere.
He took a seat on a bench in the middle of the atrium and began eating. He mindlessly scrolled through his phone.
He was surprised when he started to hear heavy, metallic footsteps quickly making their way towards him. He looked up from his phone and saw... Chica. What a surprise.
"Pizza!" That was the only thing on her mind. She could smell it from miles away.
"Hi Chica. You can have a slice if you want."
She was one step ahead of him. She grabbed a slice before he finished his sentence, and greedily shoved it in her mouth.
"Hi Cooper, sorry. I get distracted easily." She spoke, just after downing an entire slice of pizza in one bite. She took a seat next to him and they struck up a conversation.
"How's Gregory?" Cooper asked.
"I don't know. I don't really hang around him all that much anymore. Freddy kind of took those reins. They are like father and son."
"That's nice. Do you mind not seeing him as much?"
"Not really. He has an attitude to him, and he can be really annoying at times."
"I thought you animatronics were supposed to love and care for all kids."
"Thought." Chica replied.
"Fair enough."
They had some small talk before Chica took the last slice of pizza, then went back to her room.
Did she really want to talk? or did she just want pizza? He thought to himself. He didn't really have anything to do tonight, so he just sat there, and began looking at the cameras.
Freddy and Gregory were in fazerblast, playing against each other, Chica was in her room, jamming out to her guitar, Roxy was in her room, sitting in front of her mirror probably complimenting herself, and Monty was in Monty golf, on his own.
Cooper figured he ought to make it up to the gator, since he had been left out the entire previous night.
He made his way over to Monty golf, still being awestruck by the magnificent sight he could just not get used to. How long had he been there? Like 3 or 4 days?
He found the gator sitting on a bench, under a tree. He looked sad. He had his head down and was resting his head on his hands.
Cooper walked up to him.
"Hey Monty, you alright?"
Monty jumped a little, not expecting to have company.
"Huh- Oh, I, Yeah, I'm fine. Just... Thinking about some stuff."
"Care to elaborate?"
"No."
"OK. Wanna play some golf?"
Monty wasn't in the mood for golf, but he said yes anyway as to not upset the night guard.
Cooper grabbed the clubs and balls, but only got one scoresheet for Monty, hoping he would absolutely crush Cooper and start to feel better about whatever was bothering him.
"Here."
"Thanks pal."
Monty and Cooper went back to the first hole to begin a new game. They started talking about random stuff, some golf-related, some not. Monty was starting to cheer up, whether that was because he was winning, or he had some actual company isn't known.
"Why do you isolate yourself from the others? They're all awesome." Cooper asked.
Monty sighed. "I... did something I'm not particularly proud of..." He stopped.
Cooper didn't say a word. He waited for the gator to talk again.
"Do you... Come to the pizza Plex often during the day?" He asked.
"Yes, I used to be a day guard until I got promoted. But I don't find myself coming here in my free time, because I'm almost always asleep."
"OK. When you were a day guard did you know bonnie?"
"Yes. He was cool. Why?"
"He and I didn't get along very well. He thought I was replacing him or Glamrock Chica. Fair enough, Roxy replaced Foxy. I was kind of replacing him... But... he was never going to get scrapped. He was going to move over to Bonnie's Bowls permanently. One night, It must've been too much for him to handle, and he came over to my room, and he threw fists. I was designed with these claws though, for some reason. It didn't end too well for him."
"I'm sorry to hear that, Monty."
"Soon, his mangled body was found in my room, and, I got all the blame. Didn't even bother checking my memory logs. Higher-ups decided it would be cheaper to scrap him then to fix him. The others never really liked me from that point on. I got used to it though, and I never really liked them back."
"Wow. So they don't know the truth? Go tell them, let them know they got it wrong."
"No. I don't like them. They don't like me. I'm fine with that being the way it is."
As he said that, he swung his club, and got a hole in one. He had no reaction.
Cooper gave him a little golf clap.
"I have the kids and that's all I really need."
Cooper felt like he was learning something new every day working at the pizza Plex.
"Are you sure you don't want to just try and mend your friendships? Just try? Again, they are all awesome, and I think it'd make you much happier."
"They wouldn't want to. And if they did, they would've approached me about it by now. So I won't."
Cooper sighed. He was stubborn. They began to have some more small talk.
They finished their game of golf, and Monty obliterated Cooper. "Well played." Cooper said.
"All in a day's work. Run along now, I'm sure you've got the others to talk to, and hang out with."
"Well yeah, but you don't have to put it like that."
"How else would I put it?"
Sigh. "See ya later Monty. I hope you feel better tomorrow mate." Cooper waved and headed back with his golf club and ball in hand.
He walked out of gator golf and checked the cameras again. Freddy and Gregory were still in fazerblast, Chica was in her room, but Roxy had moved from her room.
Cooper turned around to leave when he suddenly found himself staring right into the wolf herself.
"AAAAAHHHHH!" Cooper was shocked that he hadn't even heard her coming.
"Oh my god, you scared the hell out of me Roxy, never do that again please."
"Not my fault you're deaf and can't hear my footsteps." She replied, giggling.
"I don't know how I didn't. Anyways, hello."
"Hi. What were you doing just now?" She came across as accusational, but Cooper knew she was just curious.
"Talking to Monty. He's not doing too great."
"Why?"
"He thinks you guys hate him cause of what he did to Bonnie, and that if you didn't, you would've told him otherwise by now."
"Well, I never hated him, but what he did to bonnie certainly made me like him less."
"Fair enough. I wouldn't be too thrilled if someone I just met killed my best friend. But there are two sides to every story. And my moral compass is pointing away from Monty right now."
"That means?"
"It means I'm on your side. He's at fault. He killed bonnie. He should apologise to you. Not the other way around."
"Yeah, you're right, thinking about it that way. But this was a long time ago. Doubt he's gonna do anything about it now."
"Doesn't hurt to hope." Cooper said, rather defeated.
"Anyways, where ya headed?" She looked at him with almost puppy dog eyes.
"Well I was going to either go look for you or go to Freddy and Greg in fazerblast, but I guess you found me first, soooo... What do you want to do?"
"We could... Go racing?" Her tail started to wag a little, and she leaned in towards Cooper a little bit as well.
"Isn't it under construction? It would be pretty irresponsible for the night guard to be racing on a track that isn't finished."
Roxy's look of excitement faded slightly, and her tail slowed down.
"Pleeeeeaaaase?" This time she did give puppy dog eyes.
"I could lose my job, Roxy." Cooper said, becoming slightly more serious.
She sighed. disappointed, to be expected. "Fine."
"I'm sorry Rox, but I'm in it for the long term when it comes to this job. I don't want to lose it. I don't want to lose you."
"I-Its fine. I get it. We can't all have fun. Some people have jobs they have to do." She stammered a bit at his comment. She was still disappointed, but she certainly understood.
"What else would you like to do?" Cooper asked.
"Eh, I don't know... You said Freddy and Gregory were in fazerblast right?
"I can check." He replied.
Cooper pulled up his fazwatch and looked through the cameras. Roxy began watching as well.
"Nope. They seem to have left."
"Cool! Let's go there then!" She replied enthusiastically.
The two made their way up to fazerblast, whilst bumping into Freddy and Gregory.
"Oh, Hello Roxy, Cooper. Nice to see you two." Freddy said.
"Hi." Gregory said. He was almost like Freddy's shadow.
"Hi." Cooper and Roxy responded.
"Where are you two off to?" Freddy asked.
"Fazerblast." Cooper and Roxy responded again.
Freddy chuckled slightly. "Well. Have fun. Let's go Gregory."
"Coming."
They arrived at the lobby of Fazerblast.
"This place is cool." Cooper said.
"You ain't seen nothing yet. Just you wait until we go inside." Roxy said, feeling excited.
The two entered a door that led into a beautiful, space-themed alien-like hallway, with barriers on either side of the walkway and different neon colours and patterns lining the wall.
"Woah. Even the hallways look awesome."
Roxy didn't respond, slightly jealous her racetrack didn't look as cool, let alone functional.
They continued into a room where a staff bot was explaining the rules and how to play. Roxy yawned. She had heard it all before. Cooper just wasn't listening, taking in the beautiful sights instead.
When the bot was done explaining, the door to the armoury opened up. The two walked forward. In it, lay what you would expect. Fazerblasters, helmets, and vests. The two found sizes that fit, and then walked towards another hallway. Before they could reach it, their vests lit up according to their corresponding team. Cooper was blue, Roxy was Orange.
"Good luck night guard. You'll need it." Roxy said confidently, verging to the cocky side.
"We'll see about that." Cooper snapped back. They went their separate ways and ended up on the battlefield. It was beautiful.
Neon patterns covered the place, cardboard cutouts of the animatronics loomed over the field, The area was well decorated with star covered black wallpaper, with a beautiful alien-like space theme. A giant centre piece, stood hanging above the ground, looking like Saturn.
Cooper snapped out of his thoughts when he was shot by Roxy. His vest began flashing blue, signalling he was out, and needed to respawn before he could fight back.
"Hey!" He was met with laughs from Roxy.
Cooper wasted no time once he had respawned, and repositioned himself to get a clear view of his attacker. Pew. Perfect accuracy.
"Dammit!"
The scoreboard on the wall opposite the 'Superstar lounge' read 1 : 1.
Cooper ran from his original position into his base, in hopes to keep the element of surprise. Too bad Roxy was one step ahead of him and flanked, giving her the upper hand. Pew. 2 : 1.
He ran over to Orange's base, and hoped to try and get some high ground by running to some of the platforms above the ground floor. He spotted his foe. Pew. 2 : 2.
Roxy had no idea where she was shot from, until she looked above her. She saw a sliver of Cooper's face retreating from the neon railing.
Cooper made his way higher, to the top point of the playing field. He had quite the vantage point, and a good view of the field. He scanned the area below him and found his target. Pew. Missed. Pew. Missed again.
Roxy was alerted to his presence when she heard his weapon and quickly ran for cover. damn. He pursued his victim and ran to a point where she was visible. Pew. 2 : 3.
Roxy looked at the clock. 3 minutes left. She had to step it up if she wanted to win. She darted to the nearest elevation, that being a ramp that lead up to a platform, that had a ramp that lead up to Cooper's platform that she could use.
She cautiously made her way up, looking out for any signs of movement, when she saw him, looking down at the ground below him, not paying attention to his sides. Pew.
3 : 3.
Cooper ran down to the ground floor, with Roxy keeping an eye on him. The timer read 45 seconds. Next point would surely take this.
Roxy gave chase as she hunted her prey, her wolf instincts kicking in. 30 seconds. She made it to the ground floor, where she saw long pants and boots fly around a corner. 20 seconds. She gave chase. 12 seconds. She finally saw her prey, and opened fire, she missed her first shot. Cooper retaliated with a clean shot straight to her chest. 3 seconds. 2. 1. It was over.
The alarm began sounding, signalling the game had finished. Cooper had won.
"Woohoo! Trash talk me now Rox!" He celebrated.
Roxy stood, defeated and frustrated. Nevertheless, she decided to be a good sport.
"Well done." She put out her hand for a handshake.
"Thanks. Good game." Cooper said whilst shaking it
The two walked to the exit, returned their fazerblasters and walked to the elevator.
"You totally cheated." Roxy joked.
Cooper chuckled. "Sure I did."
A voice came on over a loudspeaker. "Congratulations blue team. You've won fazerblast and defeated the alien army. Turn right to enter the superstar lounge and claim your prize."
Despite losing, Roxy joined him.
"Oh cool, I win... Nothing." Cooper wasn't disappointed, more or less expecting a crappy reward.
"That's weird. There's usually a golden fazerblaster up here." Roxy said.
"Oh, Gregory or Freddy must've taken it then." Cooper said.
"Oh yeah. That was fun. We should do it again sometime. But I'll definitely win."
"Sure, I'd love to." Cooper replied.
They both left fazerblast together before Cooper looked down at his fazwatch. 5:30 am.
"Wow. Time flies when you're having fun."
"Huh?"
"It's 5:30."
"What? How? It felt like I was with you for only an hour at most!" Roxy replied, disappointed.
They found a bench in the atrium, then sat down and talked. The mood felt peaceful, calm. Roxy shuffled over to Cooper, shortening the gap, before putting her head on his shoulder.
Cooper reached for the back of her head and began petting her fur.
"You're fur is so soft." He said surprised.
"It would've been softer if I still had that barber bot. I have a salon in my raceway, but they got rid of the bot that did people's hair. Now I have to do it myself." She sounded disappointed.
"You did this yourself? That's incredible."
Roxy giggled. "I am the best. I'm also just lazy."
"That's one thing we have in common."
Roxy shut her eyes. The two lay there in relative silence and bliss. For a moment, everything felt right. Until Cooper checked his fazwatch.
"Ugghh. I'm so sorry but I have to go. It's 5:55 am."
Roxy moved her head, and embraced Cooper, before saying her goodbyes and leaving for her green room. She felt that a small part of her metallic, cold heart's void had been filled that morning.
