The seconds were long, and soon turned to minutes. The night guard and the child had found a polished black pillar in which the two were resting against in relative silence, safe from the music budget arachnid. (Cause he only has 6 legs... and spiders have... oh forget it) Despite the situation they were in, and how tense everything was, they both felt tired. They both sat there side by side, waiting for Freddy to arrive.
Periodically, Cooper would scruffle up Gregory's hair in hopes of easing tension, but unfortunately it just seemed to annoy him. Cooper wasn't perfect, and he was pretty clueless on how to act in this sort of situation. Gregory sat, feeling rather tired and hopeless. He didn't think he'd die, he just wanted to sleep peacefully. It was hard to be peacefull when you're constantly under threat by a 20 tonne death machine.
Clunk. Clunk. Clunk. Clunk. Clunk. Cooper was awoken and alerted to the earth shattering footsteps. He clenched his fists to the floor and closed his jaw tightly, and hoped for the best. If not, he still had his taser. He peeked around the pillar and saw Freddy almost jogging up the stairs.
He gestured to the robot bear for him to be quieter, In which Freddy responded by slowing down his pace and treading somewhat lighter, as light as a huge animatronic could anyways. Cooper turned to Gregory who had by this point almost dozed off. Cooper gently shook him and snapped him back to reality.
"Huh, wha- oh." Gregory was startled but quickly regained his bearings at the sight of the setting and the familiar characters.
"What is wrong? I came as soon as I could." Freddy crouched down to the two and spoke as softly as he could.
"Monty's gone haywire, again." Cooper told him.
Freddy let out a deep sigh. "I thought I was making progress with him, I guess not."
"No, no, it's his code, it's all bugged and glitchy apparently. Not sure why it makes him hostile to us but... Sure is an inconvenience."
Freddy looked down and thought for a moment. He looked up. "It is not safe to stay here. The DJ will likely not take too kindly to you two snooping around, and Monty is most likely going to find us at one point or another. I know this may sound insane, but I think we should go back to my room. The doors in the green rooms are heavily reinforced, for situations... Not exactly like these, but... They will work nevertheless."
"Cool, did Monty attack you?" Gregory asked.
"No."
"Can I ride in your stomach hatch then please?"
"I'm sorry Gregory, but I had nowhere near finished charging before you called me. Letting you ride in my stomach hatch will use too much energy, I think it is best for you to walk with Cooper."
"Wait, you actually had to recharge?"
"Yes, I- Uhh, What do you mean I actually had to recharge? Heh, of course I had to."
Gregory face-palmed his forehead, then shook his head.
"Well we don't really have a better option right now do we?" Cooper said. "We'll give it a try."
The three began to sneak down the stairs, not exactly being quiet thanks to Freddy, but if he hadn't alerted the DJ before it was unlikely he'd do it now after realising everything was out to get Freddy's 'son'.
The 3 moved quickly and stealthily, sticking to the walls and staying in the shadows. They soon encountered the statue that greeted them upon entering, then they hopped in the elevator, Gregory breathing a sigh of relief.
"Just to reiderate, we all make a mad dash for Freddy's room, correct?" Cooper asked, questioning if this would work at all.
Freddy looked at him and nodded optimistically. The elevator music was pretty loud, and only added to the adrenalin already flowing through the human's brains and bodies.
Cooper let out a nervous chuckle before the elevator doors opened rather abruptly. They all walked forwards to the railing and saw Monty on the atrium ground level, seemingly looking for nothing.
"He's just wandering round in circles." Gregory pointed out."
"It's more random than circles, but he looks so brain dead." Cooper responded.
They continued watching before they heard Monty start to talk. "Hey! Little guy!" He didn't look up, so there was no way he had seen Gregory.
"Mmkay, so it's obvious that he wants Gregory." Cooper said. "Freddy, are you sure you don't have enough power left?"
"Yes, I am truly sorry. I can feel some of my systems shutting down already... My HUD is fading. So many warning signs" He clenched a hand to his forehead.
"OK we need to go now then." Cooper said urgently. They all ran down the escalators and ran to the main floor, their footsteps echoing loudly, bound to grab unwanted attention.
Monty turned his head to the direction of the noise, and located the child running just adjacent to him, with the accompanying night guard and robot bear. Monty quickly gave chase, and now the three of them had a serious problem on their hands.
"Do not stop running!" Cooper told the three, panicked as he looked behind him and was greeted with the menacing presence of the plastic reptile. They kept running, Monty kept chasing. The hallway to the convenience counter, and therefore Rockstar row was now in view, and in reach.
Cooper was in the lead of the pack, with Freddy following close behind, like a sidekick to a superhero. Meanwhile, Gregory was slightly lagging behind. Freddy looked behind and realised this.
"Gregory! Faster!" Freddy told him.
"I can't!" The boy replied, gasping for air, and falling behind even further. Freddy knew Monty was going to catch him if he didn't do anything, so Freddy quickly changed direction, skidding on the floor as he did so, and began running towards Monty, at full-ish speed.
Freddy saw the boy run past him in a flash, and closely followed by Monty, whom had completely tunnel visioned in on Gregory. He was running forward at a lightning pace, and failed to notice the huge bear who was now blocking his path.
Freddy brought him back to reality, with a brutal uppercut to the jaw- No, snout. The impact of the fist had created a bone chilling crunch as the metal and plastic bended and folded under the shear pressure of Freddy's fist.
As quick as he arrived, he was off again, managing to catch up to Gregory, and soon overtake him. The three had unwisely chosen the right side hallway to go through, unwise because Freddy's room from that hallway was the furthest of all of them all.
Freddy looked back one last time before he reached the convenience counter, he saw the alligator pick himself up and continue pursuing, he truly was relentless.
By the time Gregory had made it into Rockstar Row, Freddy and Cooper looked like faint specks in the distance, like distant stars in the night sky. At some point Gregory had stopped running and started jogging, he looked behind him and saw no Monty.
Must've lost him. But I was running in a straight line... I'm not taking any chances. He left his jogging pace behind and reunited with his sprinting pace, the short period of less speed brought his energy back up a surprising amount. He was now coming up to Monty's room.
He felt the cool air-conditioned air sweep across his face as the hair on his head waved around like a tumbleweed in a desert. Gregory's initial adrenaline rush had ceased and he had slowed down a bit, yet he still had passed Roxy's room. He was on the home stretch and Could see Freddy and Cooper standing outside Freddy's door, waving him in.
Cooper was on one knee just below Freddy with his hands out, gesturing Gregory to come in, meanwhile Freddy was above him, nodding whilst holding a thumbs up. Gregory slowed his pace and began to walk towards them, when a pair of animatronic footsteps made themselves known. Cooper and Freddy saw Gregory look to his right and immediately start running for the other hallway, after making a terrified facial expression.
As if manifesting out of nowhere, Roxy made herself known to the group when she began chasing the child to the other hallway, hands out like a zombie, yet tail wagging as if she was in it for the thrill.
"Roxy!" Cooper yelled as he put his arm out in front of him, fairly cliché like. Cooper was just about ready to chase the two, when Freddy pulled him back, and dragged him into his room, shutting and locking the door behind him.
"What the hell Freddy? Gregory's in danger, we need to help him!" Cooper protested. Freddy in response, simply held his hands to his ear, and listened out for something.
As if it was scripted, not moment before and not a moment later, They heard loud banging on the reinforced door. Cooper simply looked at the bear, eyebrows raised.
"Monty was still chasing Gregory, when Roxy started to chase him he turned his attention to us. You didn't notice." He groaned and struggled upon finishing his sentence as if he had a horrible headache.
"I n-need to r-recha-a-rge." He stammered as he sluggishly walked to his charge station, practically collapsing upon entering it.
"How long will it take?" Cooper asked worried. The door slammed shut and Cooper got no response.
He started to check the cameras and saw Gregory still running from Roxy, but he looked as if he was heading to Roxy raceway. Cooper clenched his teeth and hoped for the best, hoped that Gregory would be okay on his own. He continued to browse the cameras.
He saw Monty just outside the door, pacing back and fourth, waiting for the door to open. He saw Chica in the main atrium, seeming to be patrolling, similar to what Monty was doing.
Several minutes passed, and Cooper had become a nervous wreck, despite still being able to see Gregory and his attacker on the cameras, he still feared for the child. His thoughts of dread and darkness were interrupted by a rather comedic 'Ding', signifying that Freddy had finished charging.
He emerged from his recharge station and with him, light blue neon-esc smoke, fitting. Freddy rubbed his eyes as if he was emerging from a deep slumber.
"Is Gregory okay?" Freddy asked, not exactly sounding concerned.
"Yeah, for now. But we need to get to him and help him." Cooper said.
"Agreed."
The two exchanged glances and nodded.
Another lil cliffhanger for you there. This chapter was really boring to write because there wasn't much action, just a lot of running away, more or less just setting up the next big scene, no spoilers. Because it was boring, it really put me off writing it, not to mention I have been very busy. Sorry for the long wait, hopefully the next one will be shorter. Thanks again for the reviews, favs and follows, and have a good day/night.
