Chapter-10: Revelations

The sage's words went through Naruto's ears as his whole body stiffened. The only two things he wanted to know in his young life. Why was he hated? What did he do wrong and the most important one Where are his parents? Who are they? Did they love him or was he abandoned just like everyone in orphanage said. His voice died as he was going to get all his answers. He looked at the Third with an intensity he has never looked. He needed to know just now and he didn't wanna wait a single second anymore.

Hiruzen looked in the boy's eyes where he saw everything the desperation, confusion and his early neglect, loneliness and abuse. It aged him even more. He steeled himself and started "Naruto-kun do you what is today other than your birthday" he asked trying to involve and ease the boy into a conversation. Naruto being addressed nodded, "The Nine-Tails attack but what does it have to do me. Did my parents died in it" He asked hopping it was true that they died as heroes and didn't abandon him.

"Yes, but that's not only part. Naruto you know that the day is celebrated for the death of the Kyuubi" He nodded "Well that's not all truth, it is true our Fourth Hokage with countless other heroes defeated the fox but he couldn't kill it" Naruto interrupted with a wide-eyed "But everyone says" "They all lied because of me. I made that lie" "Why"

The Third sighed this was finally it, "Because it's impossible to kill the fox. The fox is a bijuu a being of chakra, it can't be killed and even someone manages it the fox would just respawn in few years" "So what happened to it" Naruto asked now generally curious as well.

"The only way to defeat a bijuu is to seal it and that's what Yondaime did. He sealed in a child, a child that was born that day" Naruto gasped denying it in his head but looks of everyone and next words from the Hokage confirmed it "That child was you, Naruto Uzumaki you are container of the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox" Hiruzen finished.

Naruto choked on his breath Mikoto and Kakashi instantly went to hug and soothe him but he didn't feel it, all those glares those looks and words were making sense to him. Were the villagers, right? Was he a demon, he has to be he has the fox inside him since he was born.

"So, that's why they hate me because I am a monster" Naruto choked out. "NO" instantly came Mikoto's and Kakashi's scream.

"Naruto you aren't a demon you just contain the fox the same way a jug contains water or a pouch contains kunai. The jug and are pouch are separate entities from water and kunai aren't they" The Uchiha matriarch tried to explain

Naruto understood her logic but his mind was still clouded, "But there is difference between a kunai and demon. The kunai is not living what if the fox has corrupted me or taken over me. How would you know" He retorted still afraid and confused.

"We know kid because you are not first Jinchuriki in the world. Jinchuriki that's the term used for people like you. Your Academy probably will cover it some way" Jiraya was one who answered him.

Hearing this a little relief came back he asked the Third, "There are others like me since when" "Since the start of Hidden Villages, the bijuu were also treated like soft power. The First Hokage captured them and gave them to other villages in an act of peace. But his wishes weren't respected and they were sealed in humans to use their power. Those humans came to be known as 'Jinchuriki' or the 'Power of Human Sacrifice'. The Bijuu gave jinchuriki incredible power enough even a chunin level shinobi who has mastery of their Bijuu could challenge a Kage. But Jinchuriki were always hated and feared by others" The third was interrupted by Jiraya.

"That's humanity for you we fear what we didn't understand and since there are very few people who understand the art of sealing and hardly anyone knows about Bijuu other their incredible power. Both Bijuu and their carriers are feared and ostracized"

Hiruzen carried where his student left, "Yup that's why Konoha never revealed its jinchuriki to the public. That changed when the fox attacked, we can't hide it anymore so that's why I made the law to hide your secret from younger generation and abort the public speaking of your status" He finished.

"Like that worked out well" The copy nin retorted in heat.

And Naruto agreed even after the laws the adults made sure kids didn't like him too and even if they can't speak openly, they still glared and hated him. But he understood that the old man tried his best but it just didn't work out. Now he knows the answer to why he was hated he was really content. It wasn't something he or his parents did so he doesn't need to try to win the village's approval. He will do Oba-chan and Nii-san advised live his life, become a kickass shinobi and if the village comes around fine, if they don't then they go fuck themselves. He wouldn't let them direct his life he would neither waste his life hating them nor waste his life trying to win their approval he will just the live the way he wants to.

Seeing the boy silent in his thoughts worried the adults but they didn't push him. There worries increase when Naruto gave a mirthless laugh. "Here I thought it was something I did to deserve the hate. But instead, it's people being stupid. Fine I have decided I will live the way I want to. I don't hate the village old man but I won't spend my life changing their minds. If they come around fine if they don't well that's their problem" Naruto finished.

Hearing his worlds really filled the adults with pride, "Maybe I was wrong Naruto-kun the way you handled this is really mature. I was afraid you weren't ready thanks for proving me wrong" Sandaime admitted. "I told you the brat was ready you should really trust yours truly judgment" The Sage chimed in.

Naruto smiled seeing the proud looks and praise. But it wasn't over the main conversation was still left this reveal has only created more questions about his parents. So, he asked them out "Old man what about my parents? Did they give me away to seal the fox? Or the Yondaime took me without their notice?" Naruto doesn't what answer he wanted. But he readied himself.

"I think me and Mikoto would be better ones to answer that along with Kakashi" Jiraya answered. "We told you about how jinchuriki were since the start of hidden villages." On Naruto's nod Jiraya continued "Well Nine-Tails Jinchuriki was special. The fox is considered the King of Bijuu so it was always contained by a member of an Uzumaki clan" Naruto gasp interrupted Jiraya as the boy chimed with questions "Uzumaki clan, I have a clan where are they" He asked in desperation.

"Had a clan Naruto-kun. The Uzumaki clan lived in Ushio a village situated in the Land of Whirlpools and were famous for their large chakra reserves and sealing arts. But they were exterminated by Kumo and Kiri in the Second Shinobi War. They were Konoha's greatest allies and the symbol behind our Chunin and Jonin vests is a tribute to them. Your Academy will cover in next year" Hiruzen was the one who explained.

Oh, that wasn't good his clan died far before he was even born. But then how was he related to them he asked Jiraya to continue. "Yeah, as I was telling the fox has always contained by an Uzumaki. The first jinchuriki was Mito Uzumaki, the wife of Shodai Hokage and a terrifying kunoichi in her own right. The next was Kushina Uzumaki, the Red Death of Konoha and your mother"

The moment the words left Jiraya's mouth Naruto gasped. Kushina Uzumaki his mother, he had a mom. A mom who shared the same fate as him he wondered was his mom hated too but then he remembered it was after the fox attack the villagers got to know about the fox. He was really glad his mom didn't share his suffering. But he needed to know more, the name wasn't just enough.

"My mom what was she like? How did she look? Did she love me?" Naruto babbled every question he had without stopping. His surrogate aunt replied.

"I believe I would be best person to answer that. After all I was your mother's closest friend, she was like a sister to me" Naruto turned so fast towards Mikoto he might have snapped his neck. "Kushina Uzumaki was one of the best people and shinobi I ever met. She was kind, stubborn, mischievous and most of loyal. I see a lot of her in you Naruto, your love for pranks, ramen your determination and your loyalty for your friends is all from your mother" The boy absorbed everything he was told, every similarity she listed made Naruto feel better. A feeling of belongingness he never felt was brewing in.

Mikoto than gave Naruto a picture. It was a picture of his aunt and his mom when they were younger. Out of the beautiful women it was redhead who has every inch of his attention. He looked as his mother her long red hair "Beautiful" he muttered, purple eyes and wide smile on her beautiful face. He touched the photo couldn't believe he finally knows what his mother looks like.

Mikoto allowed the boy to absorb all this and continued. "You asked did she love you didn't you? I had known Kushina for more than decade and I had never seen her happier than she was when she was carrying you. Every mention of your name will light her up and she will go babbling about you. She would have spoiled you rotten. So, never believe anything else your mother loved you as much as any mother loves her child if not more" Mikoto finished and Naruto's earlier feelings have skyrocketed. His mother loved him, she wanted him, she would have spoilt him if she was here. Nothing made him happier than hearing this.

And as much Naruto can and want to listen about her for hours there was still his dad to know about. So, he asked "What about my dad? What was he like?" Naruto asked his voice far hoarser than before.

Kakashi chimed in "Your father was one of the bravest and kindest man of Konoha. You got your looks, bravery and inquisitive mind from him. Naruto your father was none other than my sensei and Konoha's Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze"

Minato Namikaze the Fourth Hokage, the man who won the Third Shinobi war, the man who beat Kyuubi and the man who sealed the fox inside was his own father. He was the son of Fourth Hokage he didn't want to believe but the facts were on his face. That was the reason why he had so many important people looking after him. But if fourth was his dad, why did he seal the fox inside him? Didn't he know what would happen to him? Or he just didn't care? Naruto blurted his questions in a hoarse voice but with a lace of anger.

Jiraya stepped in he noticed the traces of anger, he didn't want Naruto to hate his father so he had to treat this carefully. "Minato was the smartest and stupidest shinobi I knew. He was smart enough to probably guess that secret of jinchuriki wouldn't be a secret after this but he was stupid enough to believe in people of Konoha. Minato was too God damn noble"

"That idiot probably thought he can't ask any other parent if he can't do it himself" Mikoto chimed in.

"Probably but Minato also loved you and believed in you more than anyone else. The kid would always go ranting about how you are gonna surpass him and force into an early retirement with a goofy smile on his face"

"Just like Kushina-nee, Minato-sensei loved you more than the world and like Jiraya-sama said he believed in you even more than your mother. I believe he left the fox in you thinking you could do what nobody else could. Master it's power and use it to protect yourself" Kakashi completed Jiraya.

Now he doesn't know what to think this whole thing too damn stressful and full of emotional switches especially for the opinion his dad. Before today Minato Namikaze was his hero like any other child of Konoha. After the reveal of the fox, he was conflicted on one hand the admiration was still there but there also resentment that he might have saved the village but he ruined Naruto's life. After he got to know about his clan and especially his mom, he accepted it well since he was the only Uzumaki so that's why the Fourth chose him. But now he finds that the Fourth is his dad and still sealed the fox in him. But he also loved him and believed in him even more than his mom.

Dammit it's too frustrating he really wanted to love his dad instantly like he does his mom now. His dad just like his mom loved him, believed in him and wanted him. And whatever goodness in his life is due to his dad's connections. Kakashi was his dad's student and Jiraya was his dad's teacher. Jiji was his dad's predecessor or successor whatever. Even Oba-chan who was the best friend of his mom but also was his dad's teammate. But if dad never sealed the fox, he would have a normal life, a normal orphan life but still better than now.

He has decided that he likes his dad okay not as much as his mom but he still loves after all his dad loved him and even though sealed the fox his dad still had good reasons for it. One he was the only Uzumaki, two his dad was a noble idiot and three his dad believed in him.

Seeing such haywire of emotions on the child face generated a very uncomfortable silence for the adults none of them wanted Naruto to despise Minato. So, when Naruto spoke, they all sent internal prayers. "I like him. I don't like him sealing the fox but I accept it. I will definitely punch him when I die but I like him." Naruto finished with a smile.

The adults sighed in relief "Good I am pretty sure Minato wouldn't mind a punch. But there still one more thing Naruto" Jiraya said. Naruto looked and though what now could be.

"The reason Minato sealed the fox inside you was and wanted you to master its power is because you will need it." Seeing the confused look the toad sage continued "Naruto you didn't the question how the fox got out from your mom before it got into you. Not that I blame you, much more important things were revealed to you" The sage chuckled

"A female's jinchuriki's seal is weakest at childbirth. So, when you were born a masked man who claims to be Madara Uchiha attacked your parents. Separating your dad from your mom and releasing the fox on the village. Minato defeated him but he escaped before he could finish the job. So, your father knowing he could return sealed the fox inside you believing you would need it at inevitable day"

Naruto eyes widened as he heard Jiraya's words. He definitely understood the threat of someone named Madara they have covered in Academy when they learnt about the Formation of Villages. But the part his mind was focused on was the reason for the attack. His mom was weakest at childbirth meaning he was the reason his parents died.

This was too much and he broke out crying, "My parents died because of me. If I was never born, they would be alive" The little muttered between sobs and hiccups. The adults immediately angered at this notion. Mikoto lifted him up and hugged him, "Never ever say Naruto your parents didn't die because of you. It was due to that Madara-teme. Yours parents didn't want you to blame them" She added in voice of absoluteness.

"We told you kid your parents wanted you, they knew the risk and still went forward it because their love was stronger. They loved from the moment they even knew they were having a child" Jiraya added

"I was your mom's bodyguard when she was pregnant with you Naruto and let me tell you sensei and Kushina were never happier than they were while Kushina was carrying you. So, you don't ever dare to think that" Hatake added

"Naruto-kun no parent would want themselves to live over their child. Minato and Kushina understood that like every parent does. You didn't kill your parents Naruto-kun you are what your parents still live through" Sandaime finished and every one in the room couldn't agree more. The boy was so much his parents even without knowing them it really felt Minato and Kushina were inside him.

Naruto nodded between hiccups and calmed down. Mikoto still didn't let him go. "Calm now, stupid little shrimp just like your father" "Not a shrimp" came the squeaky voice and the adults chuckled. "Yeah yeah, so listen Madara is still after you for the fox. So, we need to up your training. Meet me the day after tomorrow and I have a schedule ready for what you will learn till you graduate. "Why not tomorrow" Naruto asked. "Because I have something that will occupy your day." Jiraya said before giving him a box. "What's inside this"

"Two letters, one each from your mom and dad. And some of the other things I could get" Naruto instantly took the box and cradled it like the greatest treasure in the world.

"Don't open it now, you are too tired and need some sleep. You can open it tomorrow when you are alone" Jiraya advised and Naruto reluctantly nodded.

After that Jiji and Jiraya departed saying that he could come to them if he ever had any problem or wants to know more. Oba-chan asked him to come home with her but Naruto said he will sleep with Nii-san. So, she departed leaving Naruto and Kakashi.

Naruto woke up and next day far late than he used to. Well last night he hogged Kakashi on any stories of his parents that copy nin remembers. Only when Naruto to exhausted to even open his eyes he slept. He looked around to see no one in the room. He did the morning routine of brush, bath etc and saw breakfast already has been prepared. Reheating it he did his breakfast.

After that he looked at the box he was given and went on his bed with it. He looked at the box with anticipation, excitement and opened it. Inside the box were two letters or red and yellow thread respectively. He put them aside and saw a blue scarf, a three-point kunai and a photo frame. He took out the frame and gasped.

The photo was of his parents, his mother was pregnant with himself sitting on chair looking up at his father. His father meanwhile was looking down at mother standing beside her with his cloak covering his mother's chair. They looked so happy, so much in love that tears came out again.

Then he lifted the scarf and wrapped around his neck. The blue scarf was too big for him but for Naruto it fit better than any other cloth. His mother has knitted either for his father or for himself but it didn't matter. All that matter that he finally had something of her. Then lifted his father's kunai, he has seen it in picture this was his father's custom kunai used for his specialty Hirashin, holding it that fascination came again. His dad probably would have taught him.

Finally, he lifted the two letters keeping his father's letter on his lap he opened the one with red thread which he believed was from his mom.

My Baby Boy,

If you are reading this that means I am no more. And if your father hasn't survived than I hope you taken in by Mikoto. Naruto my baby boy as I am writing this letter with you in my arms, I couldn't admire how beautiful you are. You are perfect just a perfect blend of me and Minato.

And I couldn't help but regret for not being able to see you grow up, for not hearing your first word, seeing your first step, be at your first day Academy, for your first mission be there when you become genin, chunin, jonin and even Hokage if you want to. Regret for not be able to embarrass you in front of your friends, girlfriend not be able to be the grandmother of your children and many more.

Oh Naruto, believe me I want to be there for everything I just hope your father is there because if he isn't then we have truly failed as parents. Even now when I just look at you, I couldn't help but smile.

"No, you didn't. You saved me" he muttered

I came to Konoha as 8-year-old girl leaving my family to come and live with my grand aunt and then my village got wiped out. My parents, siblings, cousins, friends, aunts, uncles all gone. My great aunt helped me through it and after her death I was alone again. Till I found your dad and when your dad asked to marry me, I never thought I could be happier.

Naruto gasped he can't believe his mother has been through so much and he was glad she found his dad.

But oh, gods I was wrong and glad I am that I was wrong. When I found out that I was pregnant with you that moment was filled far much joy than I ever had. I never believed I could love someone as much as Minato. But in these nine months I have loved even more. And now I when finally get to meet you even after all this it's still the happiest moment of my life.

Naruto sobbed again reading this his mother really wanted him, his birth was the happiest moment of her life.

Your life is going to be tough baby because of us me and your father has made lot of enemies and I am sorry again for leaving you to deal with them alone. But I know you can because you are our son and you are going more kickass than your parents ever were.

Since I won't to be there to tell you these personally, I want to write it here. Naruto sweetie, don't be picky eater always eat your fruits and vegetables. Mommy wants to be big and strong when you grow up. Make sure you bath and brush everyday and keep yourself warm. Also don't stay till late, have a plenty of sleep you will need it for your missions.

"I think I am enough of heavy sleeper already mom" he chuckled

Make a lot of friends and even if you can't it's no problem till you have few who are good and close to you. Make sure to keep up with your studies, your mom wasn't very good at it. But I think you will be.

Images of Sasuke, Kiba, Ino, Shikamaru and Chouji came to his mind

As for being a shinobi I know you will be a very good one. Just stay away from the three vices of shinobi. I know being a shinobi is tough and these will attract you but find a better coping mechanism. Take something like music, books cooking anything because you will need it.

Naruto promised wholeheartedly he would never let any of the three vices take over him.

Have dreams Naruto and follow them to full extent. Both me and your father wanted to be Hokage and even though your dad won I didn't give up till the last day. I would love if you want to follow the same path and even if you don't it won't change a thing till you follow your dreams. Sometimes it's the journey that's important rather than destination.

Now for the final part women, I can't advise you much about it since I am woman myself but find someone who loves for who you are instead of what you bring.

Oh, Baby there is so many things I want to say so much more I want to write but I can't this paper isn't enough it will never be enough.

The last thing I want you to say I love you no matter what you do what you become. I will always love you and that will never change. I loved you the moment I heard about you and I will love you till my last breath and even beyond.

So, thank you Naruto for being born for making me mother. Now just live your life to fullest.

Reading the last part filled Naruto with tears again, his mother truly loved him she even thanked for being born. He would live his to the fullest just the way he wants and make his mom proud. Naruto collected himself for little while and then picked up the next letter.

My Dear Son,

I am writing as an apology, warning, advice and many things more. First of all, what I am going to do there is no way I can make up to you. Heck, I will not be even alive to make up you. But I am sorry my son this is the only way.

Your life would be hard son, a life as an orphan is hard enough, I have lived that. But a life as a jinchuriki is far harder. But I believe you will preserve through. Naruto if God Forbid my faith is misplaced, it will be harder.

"It is old man but don't worry like you said I can take it"

I know the jinchuriki wouldn't be a secret after this but I believe in my village to look after you. And if I am proved wrong than I have completely failed you as father and as Hokage. You have all right to hate me despise me but please never hate your mother Naruto she didn't want this for you. I was the one who convinced her.

"I don't hate you too"

I didn't have much choice your mother was attacked at your birth, well you probably know this by now from Jiraya-sensei and Lord Third. So, you should know why I am doing this. Naruto as father I believe in you that you will be the one to take him down and even master the fox where others failed. I don't know what it is maybe it's father's intuition but I know you are going to surpass me in no time.

"Easy for you say do you know how awesome you were" he chuckled

You know when your mom told be about you, I have never felt as much joy as I felt that time. Even after I became Hokage all I thought about you. How much I am going to teach you, play with you and how you will take the hat of me in no time.

Being Hokage was my dream and your mothers too. I hope it will be yours too and even if it isn't it don't matter because whatever you want you will achieve it.

He realized Kakashi and Jiraya were right his dad believed in him even more than his mom. His dad never even thought he could fail. He would make sure that this belief is not misplaced.

I have to go Naruto the clock is ticking so some last words when I held for the first time it felt like I was holding the whole world in my hands. Your tiny body was so heavy, so precious that it overwhelmed me. From that moment I love you the most even more than your mother, village or anything.

I don't have much advice to give you your mom probably told everything you need to learn but the few things I will say to you is always believe in yourself son. You can do anything if you want to. The next thing is woman, Naruto choose a woman who not only loves you but also respects you for what you have achieved. And even after she isn't afraid to put in you line when you do something stupid. Your mom is like that. And for the last thing be kind my son, our world is too cruel don't become like that. Never let hate corrupt you, I am not asking to become an all-forgiving monk. But be patient, be gentle and be kind. If you do that no matter what anyone says you definitely be much stronger than them because true strength isn't in how many shinobi you can kill or how many jutsu you know. It comes of inside from being kind from being generous.

I would like to you end by thanking you for giving me the joy of becoming a father no matter how small it was. Remember I will always no matter who you do or achieve in life.

Minato Namikaze

After reading his father's letter any doubts he had last night completely disappeared his dad loved him more than anything. And he sealed the fox more of his belief and for Naruto's own protection than anything else. He decided he loves his dad too and his dad was awesome he was the Fourth Hokage after all.

Sasuke was worried Naruto hasn't come to Academy today and when he asked his mom, she said he needs time. He asked what happened after all yesterday was the blonde's birthday and he was happy yesterday so what happened in the night. He tried to aske his brother too only for Itachi to tell him that the idiot needs space because he has been told many things. Sasuke asked what it was but Itachi replied Naruto will tell him when the time comes.

Sasuke didn't like that Naruto his first and best friend, the blonde always stood for him even in Academy when he picked fights due to Shisui. He wanted to help Naruto so he decided to go to Naruto's apartment and when he didn't find him there. He decided he need help so he went to find Ino-Shika-Chou trio and Kiba, the people he and Naruto hanged out with the most.

Naruto meanwhile was coming back from the Hokage's office. He went to ask the Third if anything else of his parents was left. He found out that his parents' old house was still there but he can't have it since his heritage is supposed be a secret. He understands that his parents had many enemies and if it is found out they had a child his life would be in more than it is now but he still wanted to have their things. Sandaime then told his heritage would be revealed when he becomes an A-Rank shinobi.

When he asked what's A-Rank he said they were some of the top jonin of the village. He accepted and told the old man he would be A-Rank in no time. The old man also warned him to not babble about his status and heritage to anyone. He can tell people that he trusts but that was his choice and decision.

Now that was dilemma, he wanted to tell his friends but what if they hated him like others. He wanted to believe they wouldn't and probably knew that they would still treat him the same. But fear was still there so he was wrongly surprised when he found all of them together.

"Here you are, you know for how long we were looking for you. If it wasn't for Akamaru we wouldn't have found you, you blonde idiot" Kiba chided him

"Where were you didn't come to Academy and you weren't there in your apartment too" Sasuke asked in worry. It feels good that he has friends who worry about him but it's too soon. He hasn't decided it by now. "Maybe I got sick" he made the excuse. "You don't get sick for some reason. And even if you were why would be you out" Ino responded.

"Because I have to take medicine" He replied smartly. "Like Kakashi or mom would allow you to go to the doctor's alone" Ok not so smartly. Dammit Sasuke take the hint.

"Troublesome, he is hiding something" Seeing the looks the Nara responded "Sasuke's brother told him that Naruto was told some things last night and they must be big enough to affect him and obviously important enough that he has to hide"

"What you don't trust us. Come on friends share things with each other" Ino said clearly hurt. "No, its not that I want to tell you" He instantly responded back.

"Then what's the deal. Tell us Mom says we shouldn't bottle things inside. If you want to tell us, tell us now and if you don't want to just say no" Chouji advised him. He wasn't surprised Chouji was the one who said that. The Akimichi always supported his friends no matter their decisions.

Seeing the looks he decided besides his mom said he would need some good friends. So, he reluctantly nodded. "Fine, but not here in my apartment" The rest of kids nodded and ran towards Naruto's apartment.

Inside the apartment everyone was settled in eagerly waiting for the blonde to start. "Oh, come on stop being a wimp and start speaking" Ino chided. "Fine fine bossy girl" Naruto muttered.

"Last night I got to know about my parents" "Really that's awesome dude. So, who are they" Kiba asked as his friends congratulated him too. "My mom's name was Kushina Uzumaki she was the last member of Uzumaki clan" Naruto's response was met looks of surprise. Naruto had a clan wow that was surprising. But Ino's outburst surprised them all "Wait wait Kushina Uzumaki as in the Red Death of Konoha Kushina Uzumaki" "Yep" "Holy shit your mom was awesome" "I know that"

"So, what was that special about her" Kiba asked.
