Chapter 15-Prelims End, Neji's Folly
After a few minutes, Rin calmed Obito down enough to move him off the arena and Kushina, Naruto and Minato returned to their places on the catwalk or referee chair, before Kushina had then called, "Next contestants," and the screen flared to life and spat out 2 ninjas from Kiri and Taki, with the Taki ninja pulling off a surprise win with her: Takigakure Suiton: Mizu-ryu on Ken. The other matches mostly had ended in a tie, until the screen light up and displayed the names: Hyuga Neji of Konoha and Hyuga Hinata of Konoha.
Once the names glowed on screen, Neji while not outwardly showing it was ecstatic, 'Finally I get the chance to avenge you father,' as he headed for the arena. Once in the arena, Turned to Hinata, expecting to see the shy and timid failure of an heiress to his clan, but it was not to be as Hinata not only had calmly walked down to the arena herself, but she had done so without hesitation or apprehension, before she faced her cousin with determination and disappointment.
While off in an empty room from the hall, Rin explained to Obito what had happened and how she survived, revealing what had died was a blood clone created to keep up her appearance, while she was recovering from a chakra coma and how all her clones memories told her that her clone was captured these white zombie like things that took her clone to Mizugakure. All threw the talk, Obito was outwardly silent waiting for her to finish, but on the inside he was: furious, this whole thing was Madara fault and he was used to a false means.
Once Rin had finished her explanation, Rin then confessed that she had lost her attraction to him over the time they had been separated and was currently dating Naruto, due to the C.R.A. While heartbroken Obito did understand and with all the things he was done in the past, he felt that Rin no longer had deserved him and resolved to be her brother she needed, before they hugged and returned to hall.
Back in the hall, Neji had started off the fight by: insulting Hinata and trying to get her to quit, but when she had not backed down, he changed his approach and began to charge at her with a palm thrust that missed due to Hinata using her flexibility to bend away from his attack, before delivering a counter of her own to Neji's shoulder, utilizing the momentum of righting herself to add power to her strike, the strike itself closed 3 Tenketsu points, in his shoulder and made him backup.
Shocked at getting hit and missing his own, causing him to backup to a safer distance, but this had caused an opening for Hinata to capitalize on and with the command, "Jūho Sōshiken," while thundering Neji's body with palm strikes, shrouded in Lion shaped chakra. With her technique complete, Hinata stood over the shuddering body of Neji, before turning to Kushina whom started to say, "Winner Hina-," but had not gone further, as Neji gained a small part of himself and thrusted a kunai, with a manic look that said, 'I will not loose to this failure, I am the one to win,' as the kunai was rammed threw Hinata's side just missing several vital organs, veins and arteries and clutching her side, Hinata collapse and now Neji stood over Hinata.
But the match was already over, so after his manic look left, Neji heard, "Genin Hyuga Neji is Disqualified, Hyuga Hinata is the winner," and this caused the manic look to return, before Neji charged at Kushina in a fit of anger. Seeing she was being charged, Kushina caught Neji's attack head on with her own palms and grappled him to the floor, then she pinned him with her knee and said, "For the unprovoked attack on a superior officer, you are under arrest," while slapping a pair of restraining seals on Neji's wrists.
In the council viewing room, during the match: the Hyuga clan elders watched as their weapon for controlling Hiashi, looses his match with the failure (as she used a fighting style they thought they had destroyed all record of) and is arrested for attacking Kushina. While the elders seethed at their loss, Hiashi was watching with his youngest daughter: Hanabi, with pride and love, as well as surprise at seeing his late wives Fighting style against (cursing himself for not seeing it when she was younger).
Hanabi watched on as her sister surprised the hell out of her clan elders thinking, 'Nii-san, you are stronger than I thought,' before smiling, 'It is to bad that your going to marry Naruto-nee-san,' thinking of the secret they shared with each other. Back in the hall, after Neji was hauled off by: ANBU, to await his punishment, the screen blinked to life once more and more ninja were sent into the arena to prove themselves, and after the last to ninjas had fought: Gaara and a now dead Yukigakure ninja, it was time for the end of ceremonies speech.
The end of ceremonies speech was: where Minato congratulated the finalist and informed them that in a month time, the third exams will take place and recommended to the finalist that they should use that time to train, before wishing them good luck and that they were dismissed.
