A/N: I don't think I mentioned this in the first chapter, but this is kind of an AU in a way, so once again some characters might be a tad or a lot OOC, depending on how I'm using them for the plot(s) of the story. I don't own the X-Men or any other Marvel characters!

Summary: Jean's being sneaky, and Logan brings someone new to the mansion.

Chapter 2

I can't believe my best friend and Logan are together!

How dare she go after someone I like? Isn't that against the Girl Code?

Jean sat there in the kitchen, eating her breakfast.

"Are you okay, honey?"

The redhead slightly umps, dropping her spoon against her bowl of cereal. She looks over to her husband, Scott, and smiles. "Sorry, I was lost in my thoughts. What were you saying, dear?" Scott was by the stove, making pancakes, sausages, omelets, and scrambled eggs for the group.

"I asked if you wanted to go out for dinner tonight. You know, to celebrate our new addition to our family." He whispers to her to avoid the secret being heard. Jean found out she was pregnant two days ago, but Scott was too busy helping Charles with something, so they couldn't celebrate immediately. Since it was a Friday, Scott thought this would be the perfect night to celebrate their child. Luckily, despite being two months pregnant, her bump still wasn't visible. Even though Jean was happy, there was something deep in her heart.

"Of course, we can go out tonight, love. Fancy or casual dinner?"

"Fancy."

Jean gets up and kisses her husband on the lips. "Perfect. I recently bought a dress I've been dying for you to see." She winks at him and giggles, seeing her husband tense up and blush a little. Just as he wraps an arm around her waist to flirt back, Jubilee, Rouge, and Morph walk into the kitchen. "Get a room!" Jubilee playfully yells at them, while Rouge laughs softly. Morph does a slow spin, transforming into Logan and making his best impression. He barks, "Get away from my girl," walking over to Scott just like Logan would've. Scott groans at the trickster, "You're such a child, Morph." The shapeshifter chuckles and goes back to his normal state, fixing his plate of food.

A few minutes go by, and Charles rolls his chair into the kitchen with a genuine smile, seeing his children all together, all except for two. "Morning Charles," "Morning Professor Charles!" He nods at them as he sits at the head of the table, Scott setting down his plate and a usual glass of orange juice. Charles thanks him and begins to eat his breakfast. He wipes his mouth and looks up, watching everyone.

"Where is Ororo? She's usually here by now." The headmaster looks up at the clock, seeing it was half past 9 A.M. "Logan too; he never misses a meal." The students shrugged, mentioning they last saw their teachers the day before.

"Logan probably went out last night. I predict he drank too much." Morph chuckles. Scott looks over at Jean, expecting her to know where her best friend is. Jean can feel his stare but does not engage, still eating the food off of her plate. It seems Charles had wondered the same before asking the telepath, "Jean, will you do me a favor and make sure Ororo is alright?"

Jean almost chokes on her drink, quickly catching herself and clearing her throat. "Of course!" She clenches her teeth into a smile and heads out of the kitchen. Once her back was turned to the group, her eyes almost rolled to the back of her head. Heading up to her best friend's loft, she breathes before raising her arm to the door.

Knock, knock.

Nothing. No one answered. She tries again, a bit louder.

Knock, knock, knock!

Nothing again. She huffs and bangs on the door.

Boom, boom, boom!

"What?!" Her eyes widen as she sees Logan snarling at her. His black mane is disheveled, with no shirt on, and he is wearing flannel boxers.

"What are you doing here? Where's Storm?"

Logan opens the door a bit—just a crack—showing Ororo sleeping. Jean's mouth gaped open as she noticed the silk comforter covering her body was outlining her shape too perfectly. She was naked underneath the sheet.

"Charles is wondering where she was. You too. I guess I'll just tell him you're too busy fucking off his foster daughter." She turns her back to him. "Yeah, you do that red; show 'em that ugly jealousy of yours, huh?" Logan lets out a snarl as she walks away, then shuts the door.

"Is she alright?"

By the time she got back to the kitchen, it was Charles and Scott in there. "She's still sleeping. I'm sure she's okay, though!" Why are you lying for her? "I saw Logan on the way there, and he said he'd be down soon." Expose them!

"Jubi, your leg keeps hitting me!"

"My bad, Marie. You know I get a little nervous for this kind of stuff."

Logan silently chuckles to himself, listening to the two girls bicker. He was close to both of them. He would beat up any boy or girl if they messed with his kids. Sadly, they had him wrapped around their fingers. That's why he is currently in line at the mall with them, waiting to meet the pop star sensation boy group, New Kidz on the Street. He was mentally checked out and moved off to the side, not standing too far away from the girls. He can't believe they dragged him here. He became restless, waiting for them. Logan walks off, sending Rouge a quick text telling the girls to meet him at Wendy's by the food court when they're done.

The 5'3" man confidently struts through the mall when he hears some yelling and a little figure dressed in black running for his life. A security guard followed him and yelled, "Hey, get back here!"

"Help!" Logan flinches as something, or rather, someone connects to his mind. Logan breaks out of the connection to quickly see the boy make eye contact with him. "Please!"

The man focuses back on the connection "There's a little hidden area by the kids' play area." Once again breaking away from the odd connection, Logan trips the guard, muttering an apology as he helps him back up. "He went that way!" Logan lies, pointing in the opposite direction of the play area. The mall cop thanks him and runs the other way.

A sigh of relief could be heard from Logan as he waited for the guard to be out of his sight and then walked over to the play area. "Kid, he's gone. You can come out now."

With his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket, he waits. The child peeks out, looking left and right, before creeping out of his hiding spot. The child, who looked to be about five, had on tattered clothes and beat-up shoes. His brown face is a bit dirty. His chocolate eyes looked up at the man who saved his butt. "What happened, kid? Did you steal something?"

The child kept silent as his eyes wandered. Logan calmly crouched down to his eye level and said, "Hey buddy. You can tell me I won't snitch on you."

"Promise?" The child's voice was so soft Logan's super-hearing barely caught the words. "Yeah, I promise. Where's your mom or your dad?"

The boy reaches into his back pocket, pulling out some chocolate bars and other little sweet treats he could fit in his pockets. "I was hungry. I just wanted some candy, honestly."

Logan looks into his troubled eyes, sensing that the kid was being truthful. "I don't have a papa or mama." As Logan predicted, the child was homeless, just trying to survive. Not only was he homeless, but he is a mutant. "Do you want some real food, buddy?" The mention of food made the boy smile happily.

"Alright then. First, let's get you some fresh clothes."

Logan walks over to Charles' office with the young boy he met at the mall. Before being able to knock, Charles acknowledges them, "Come in." Charles looks up from some paperwork to see Logan carrying a child against his hip. "Hello, Logan! Is this our special guest?" Logan grunts as he takes a seat in front of the headmaster's desk and places the child in his lap. "Yeah, Chuck. This is David Alleyne." He introduces the kid while rubbing his hands through the boy's hair. "David, this is Charles. Do you want to tell him how old you are?"

David shyly looks up at the bald older man and holds up five fingers. Charles lets out a playful gasp. "Wow, you're five! You're a big boy, David! Did Mr. Logan tell you you're going to live with us? I think you'll have a lot of fun with this big family."

"Family?" David's small voice crackles and scratches his eyes, compelling him to suppress his tears due to his maturity.

"Yeah, buddy, welcome to the family." Logan felt the corner of his lips turn upward.

A knock can be heard, and Charles allows them in. Scott, Jean, and Ororo enter the room. The ladies instantly find themselves smitten with the adorable boy. Scott smiles at David and looks at the professor. "Is this the kid that is connected to Logan's mind?"

"Yes, it is. Five-year-old David Alleyne. He will be living with us and attending school."

Jean raises an eyebrow. "He's only five, Professor. The academy is like a high school."

"That is where I will need all of your help. David is the perfect candidate to start with our new academic branch, Gifted Youngsters. It will be aimed at children twelve and under. For now, until we can get more students and I can hire more staff for the branch, I need you all to be his teachers."

No one had any rejections of Charles' wishes. "Perfect! I will write each of you a curriculum by Friday morning so you can prepare for the following week."

"Logan and Ororo, may you please show David around and to his room?"

The couple nods as Jean and Scott are dismissed from the office. David looks to his right and sees Ororo for the first time, his eyes turning wide at the gorgeous goddess. He lets out a gasp. "You have white hair!"

Ororo smiles sweetly, taking him away from Logan. "Yes, I do. Do you like it?" David nods, his cheeks turning a slight shade of red. The weather goddess feels her heart melt and kisses his chubby cheek. The three of them walked into the hall, heading towards the stairs. "Mr. Logan told us you're going to live with us from now on. Are you excited?"

David, who was eating the chocolate bar that he stole earlier that day, let out a satisfying noise, making Ororo aware that he was happy about this. "That's great! You'll have a lot of fun here. We have a big yard out back for you to play in and a game room if you're into video games."

Logan listens to his girlfriend tell the young boy about the amenities at the mansion. He smirks and scoffs at himself. She would make a good mom. David's ear perked up, and he turned to look back at Logan. "Who would make a good mommy?"

"No one, and get out of my brain, punk."

Ororo raises an eyebrow at the two of them, ignoring what David asked. "David, can you hear Logan's thoughts?" The little boy nods. "Have you heard anyone else's thoughts?"

David puts a finger on his chin, thinking hard. "Uh? My mama's and papa's thoughts... when they died." His words come off straightforward, with a somber face, causing Ororo to feel her heart split apart.

"You poor thing!" She hugs him tighter in her arms. A child this young, hearing the chilling thoughts of their parents' last moment, was horrifying to her. Her eyes looked at Logan, waiting to see if he knew anything about the incident.

Logan shrugs, proving he didn't know this information. After exploring the mansion, they make it to David's new room. "Here's your room buddy." Logan opens the door as Ororo puts him down, letting the boy run inside. "Woah! It's bigger than my old one."

"Does that mean you like it?" Logan asks, putting down the shopping bags containing the items of clothing, a few toys, and other immediate essentials for the child. Ororo begins to make David's bed. She giggles to herself as she flings the bedsheet up and down, letting the air open it up. Logan had brought SpongeBob SquarePants bedding for David.

"I love it, Logan!"

The powerful brute mutant smiles at the child's happiness, ruffling his palm into David's hair. After a few minutes of setting David's room up to his taste and packing clothes away, Ororo and Logan left the boy out back with the older students "So, Logan, who do you think would make a good mother?"

Logan playfully rolls his eyes before turning to his girlfriend and saying, "Just someone I know. She's really pretty, with long white hair and an amazing body." Ororo punches his forearm and walks away, but not before giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.

I hope you enjoyed reading this chapter! How are we feeling about David so far? Isn't he the cutest? I'm looking forward to reading your reviews 3
