One hour after portal incident. Lylat system.
On the cold outskirts of space, a lone ship makes its way through the wreckage and debris slowly drifting into the abyss. The ship was known as the Catspaw, piloted by the galactic gangster Katt Monroe.
The pink feline pilot had recently picked up a strange signal around this corner of space and decided to investigate, with the possibility of making a score for the space hot-rodders. They were often regarded as a nuisance by the Cornerian Army, but the acknowledgment that she was on the Cornerian side of the war against Andross's Empire was enough to keep them off her back. So, with this knowledge in mind, she was confident that she could safely claim anything interesting that she found in this place.
As she neared the location of the signal, she became a bit anxious, something didn't feel right, as if the space around her had been violently ripped apart, she felt uneasy.
"Katt here, are you guys sure this is the right place?" she spoke to her communicator, awaiting a response from her team. " We hear you Katt, this is the place Bowser saw on the map, why you ask?" responded the voice of Kool, fellow cat and current leader of the gang. "Not sure, something feels weird, I'll keep going and see what I can find." She answered. Hanging up, she continued closer to the spot.
Katt wasn't one to spook easily, she was often called cocky and a daredevil flier, but as she approached the location, she became more concerned. All around her was debris and pieces of strange tech, as she got closer, she spotted her target.
Drifting on the abyss were two strange-looking ships, heavily damaged and littered with scorch marks, the signal she picked up clearly coming from them, a distress call she guessed. The signal had not been clear, only a small indication that it existed, but nothing that could be deciphered, looking at the ships in front of her, it was easy to tell why. Getting closer her sensor began to pick up something, lifeform on both ships!
Shocked, she grabbed her coms and said, "River-Pig come in, contact the Great Fox immediately, we're going to need some help."
Darkness. Darkness was what surrounded him. How long had he been out? What had he done? These were questions that rattled his head. Memories were fuzzy and unclear; he remembered the toads. They had been looking for them, searching for whatever dark corner of the galaxy they had crawled in to hide. It had been uneventful… until.
Until they attacked them, he remembered the gate, the Screaming Mimi, going through and blasting the structure before the toads could invade. Invade where, where were they trying to invade, he pondered.
"Is he coming around?"
What was that! Voices mumbled and unfocused, but voices nonetheless They were talking about him, he was sure of it, it hurt but he had to move. His head felt like he had been run over, but still, he was struggling to get up.
Clearing his mind and opening his eyes, he said the first things in a long while, "Ahh… my head… no more carrot kahunas…" he said half-jokingly, his spirits could not be left to rot.
"Where am I?" he said aloud, scanning his surroundings. His eyes suddenly stopped at a figure next to him, a fox. "You're a long way from home captain O' Hare." the mysterious fox said. He was a red fox, a white stripe running down his head, he appeared to be dressed in pilot gear consisting of a green and red jumpsuit with a white vest. Looking around him, Bucky was greeted by other strange beings huddled around his downed team, all in medical beds. The area surrounding them did not seem to be medical doe, they appeared to be inside of a massive hanger. It was full of tech he did not recognize, housing perhaps one of the sleekest fighter ships he had seen.
Noticing his shock, the fox decided to formally welcome him, "Welcome to the Lylat system." he said.
Hopping from his bed, Bucky was quickly held back by an elderly hare, "Whoa, slow down, son…," said the senior rabbit. "You had quite the tumble back there." He said to him. "It's all right, I've had worst." Bucky quickly informed him, "How's my crew?" he continued. "Your crew is fine, as are those of the Screaming Mimi," he said. "How do you…" Bucky began before he was interrupted, "We downloaded your personnel files while you were out, we needed to know whom we were rescuing." The fox explained. "And we appreciate being rescued, but mind telling me who you people are?" Bucky asked.
"We're Team Star Fox. I'm Fox McCloud, squad leader, these are pilots Falco and Krystal…" he said, gesturing to a blue pheasant-like bird and a sapphire blue furred vixen, " our mechanic, Slippy…" he continued, introducing chokingly a toad in a yellow jumpsuit, " you already met Peppy, our tactical director…" he said introducing the old hare, " and the pink feline holding the blaster in the corner would be Katt, she's a friend and the one that found you guys." He finished.
"Sorry we couldn't take you to the infirmary, but we just got you out of your ships. So far, you're the only one that's come to." He added. "I see, well at least they're all right," Bucky answered, mostly for himself.
"You should thank your ships for that! Odd designs, where are you from?" the toad, Slippy, suddenly said getting close to greet Bucky. Recoiling slightly, Bucky let a small smile before continuing, not wanting to start any bad blood with the seemingly nice toad. "Actually, we're here from the Genus sector… and I wish we could be here under different conditions." He explained.
"The Genus System, can't say I'm familiar with it?" Peppy said. " Well, if I'm correct, we might have just traveled across dimensions" Bucky explained to the other's surprise.
"If it was some accident, I'm sure we can help you find your way back." The blue vixen, Krystal, said in a kind voice. "Thank you, while that may become necessary eventually, the truth is that we came here to help you!" he said, his voice suddenly taking a serious tone.
"The Toad Empire is coming!"
