Summary: Amity was always told stories about how humans are evil, that they would hunt down and kill vampires, but when she finds two humans that take her in after getting hurt, she begins to think that everything her mother told her was wrong.
Luz and Camila were having a nice mother daughter day, when they heard a noise. They ran into the woods and found a girl with her leg stuck in a snare. She was about Luz's age, 14, had green hair in an undercut style with a small pony tail, red eyes, and pale skin... really pale... so pale that she would stand out if she laid in snow.
"Are you okay!?" Luz asked, rushing to go help her get out of the trap.
The girl was obviously afraid, she didn't stop looking at Luz, her eyes wide.
"G-g-get away!" the girl said, panicking.
Luz didn't listen and began to undo the trap. The girl kept panicking and tried to escape, resulting in the trap getting tighter. Camila kneeled down and held the girl's hand.
"It's okay, we're not going to hurt you." Camila said, trying to sooth the girl, "We're trying to help you."
The girl seemed to calm down a bit, and Camila noticed how cold the girls hands were.
'Is she suffering from hypothermia?' Camila thought, 'It's nearly summer, how could that be?'
As Camila thought about the girls temperature, Luz was able to get the trap undone. There was a very big wound on her leg from the snare, it was bleeding and very deep.
'W-w-why am I not healing?' the girl thought, 'And... why did it burn?'
Camila looked at the wound, knowing it would take time to heal.
"You should come with us, we can help you heal and prevent it from getting infected." Camila said, "Can you tell me your name?"
The girl was conflicted, on one hand, she needed help. She wasn't healing like usual, she felt burns that made her feel tears form. On the other hand... she was always told by her mother that humans would do anything to kill a vampire, that they see them as mindless beasts that need to be destroyed. Right now, she didn't have much of a choice.
"I... my name is Amity." She said.
"Okay. Luz, can you carry Amity to our house?" Camila asked.
"Yep!" Luz said, "And... scoop!"
Luz picked Amity up bridal style, which made the pale girl turn a bit red. The three went to the Noceda house to help cover Amity's wound. After they left, a person came by and checked the trap, seeing it broken.
"No vampire could get out of a holy water trap, it must've had help." Jacob said, "I will find the allies of that leach and make them pay for helping it."
