JUST AN FYI FOR EVERYONE, I CHANGED THE CATEGORIES FOR THE STORY SO IT'S A GENERAL DC SUPERHERO CROSSOVER WITH BEN-10 INSTEAD OF JUST SUPERGIRL. IT'S NOT GOING TO CHANGE ANYTHING OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN BUT GIVEN HOW I'M IMPLEMENTING A LOT OF OTHER PLOTS AND CHARACTERS FROM OTHER DC MEDIA AND REALLY ONLY USING PARTS OF SUPERGIRL, IT MADE SENSE TO CHANGE IT. DON'T KNOW WHY IT DIDN'T OCCUR TO ME BEFORE BUT FOR THOSE THAT ARE WONDERING ABOUT THE CHANGE, HERE YOU GO.

Hello everyone and here is Chapter 3 of Omniverse: Earth 38. Will meets the Man of Steel and the two team up to save the world from a large tick that threatens to suck the earth dry but they'll need some help. Also, the Forever Knights are back and they're starting to make a name for themselves as annoyances. And he tackles his first real supervillain. Enjoy!

Omniverse Earth-38: Man of Steel, the Knight's Fall, and rise of Vigilante

April 2008: National City, USA

After their encounter with Paradox, things surprisingly were calm and normal. There was no other alien activity going on in the city or across the country which was a rare occurrence so yeah for Will and the DEO who were grateful to have the time to relax. They were tracking down other leads on the Fort Rozz escapees but they were doing very well in staying hidden. Will spent that time training and trying to unlock some new aliens with the Omnitrix but that wasn't working. The AI in the watch said that more would be unlocked gradually but who knew how long that could take. But he kept training and decided to take Courtney's advice and spend some more time with his friends. Spending all his time with his dad, the agents at the DEO and the AI in an alien watch probably wasn't healthy. He did keep in touch with Kara and Alex back in Midvale but spending some time with his new friends would keep him sane.

Will walked out of National City high with Vic, Courtney, Beth, and Eduardo. Yolanda had to stay longer for a student council meeting. Ed, being Ed, immediately got on his skateboard and grinded down the rail of the school steps.

"Oh, I give that one a ten out of ten." Ed declared as he skid to a stop and kicked his board up into his hands.

"Eh, I'll give you a five out of ten." Will remarked. "You do that every day so it's becoming common place."

"Ok, Mr. Critic. Let's see how you do then." Ed handed him the skateboard which Will immediately gave back.

"Sorry dude but I'd rather not break my neck until after graduation." He replied.

"Come on. Let's head to Big Belly Burger. I could do for a milkshake." Vic told them.

"How you stay in shape when you eat there all the time is beyond me." Beth commented as they followed him.

"One of the many mysteries of the world, Beth." Will joked when he noticed they all stopped and looked at him funny. "What?"

"You're still here." Courtney pointed out.

"Uh…yeah. I've reworked my work schedule a bit so I can relax a bit more. I took Court's advice." He replied.

"Oh, that's great." Beth smiled.

"Awesome, dude. With you around, I've got my wingman back and now I know for sure that we'll be unstoppable with the ladies." Ed stated, slinging his arm around Will's shoulders but having a little trouble as Will was more built than him. "Big Belly Burger is the best place to start and while I hook the beauty, you can hang out with her friend."

"Wow, I feel so loved." He remarked, moving Ed's arm off him.

"Ok, please don't listen to Ed, Will." Courtney told him.

"Trust me, I don't." He joked as they left for Big Belly Burger. They hung out eating French Fries and drinking milkshakes and just talking. Vic reported all good on the home front with him managing to score a 1800 on the SATs with the help of Beth and Yolanda tutoring him. Vic and the football coach were hoping for a scholarship next year to a division-1 school if things went great next season.

Vic dad's Silas was a doctor in engineering and robotics for the Amertek Industries site in National City but was planning on opening his own laboratory after Vic went to college. Mr. Stone was a bit of a hard ass and not really the biggest supporter of Vic's goals to play football in college and then the NFL. There was some tension there. Ed was in a similar situation as his dad worked at Lord Technologies and was a big science doctor. He was hoping Ed would follow in his footsteps but Ed wasn't that into science and had his own plans. Will sipped his soda and fended off Courtney's hands from his fries while he looked up some used car ads on his phone.

"What are you doing?" Beth asked, sipping her soda.

"Just looking up some used car prices. I've been thinking about getting a car and my dad said he'd help pay for it, if I found something worth paying for." Will replied. "I'm kind of getting tired of taking the bus and I'd rather not bike or skate to school like Ed."

"Your loss, dude." Ed commented as he sipped his milkshake.

"What kind of car are you looking for?" Vic wondered.

"Not sure yet but something within my budget. And I wouldn't mind something cool to start with." Will told him.

"You've got two competing ideas there, dude. Any chance in finding a cool car within a budget is gonna be tough." Vic told him when Courtney got an idea.

"How about tomorrow we head to Pat's garage and see what he has there. He'll get you a good deal and help you fix it if you need to." Courtney suggested.

"That's a good idea. Thanks, Court but it's not trouble, is it? I wouldn't want to impose." Will told her.

"No, it should be fine." Courtney promised as Beth, Vic, and Ed shared some knowing looks and chuckles.

The next day…

After school, Courtney and Will headed to Dugan's Auto-repair yard and used-car dealership. Pat Dugan was Courtney's stepfather who married her mom Barbara giving Courtney a stepdad and a stepbrother, Mike. From what Will could gather, Courtney seemed ok with her stepdad and Mr. Dugan was nice and funny, if not a little old school. Courtney was just glad that she didn't have to move when her mom remarried.

Dugan's Auto-repair was a three garage repair set up along with a small yard for used and old cars. Some were for sale while the more trashed ones were for scrap or parts. Will was at first a little hesitant at getting something from here but seeing Mr. Dugan's fully restored 1956 Buick Super Hardtop Riviera made that go away. He walked over to the car and saw while it was at least half a century old it looked brand new.

"Wow, this car looks factory fresh." Will commented.

"Yeah, Pat's good with cars." Courtney told him when they heard some barking and saw Max, the Dugan family English Bulldog rush over. Courtney messed with his floppy cheeks as Will scratched him on the head.

"Hey, Court." Pat Dugan walked out of the garage in his mechanic jumpsuit and was wiping his hands of grease with a rag. "Hey, Will. What brings you by?"

"Hey, Mr. Dugan. Uh, I'm looking to get a car that fits in the price range for me and my dad and Courtney suggested I try here." He told him.

"I told him you have a bunch of used cars in the lot so he could find one that fits and buy it." Courtney added.

"Sounds fine to me. Any idea on what you're looking for?" Pat wondered.

"Not really. Just something that runs would be ok although I wouldn't mind a classic." Will pointed to Pat's classic Buick.

"That might be a little tough. Sad to say that a lot of classic cars aren't around anymore with people wanting the newest models." Pat walked over to the Buick and wiped off a small smudge. "People back then appreciated the art that went into making a car. Now it's all mass assembly lines with all the fancy technology that makes a car like a phone."

"Ok, Pat. Enough of the sermon." Courtney told him.

"Right, sorry. Take a look in the yard for a car. There might be a classic hidden in there and I'll make you a good deal." Pat told Will.

"Thanks." Will walked over to the car yard to take a look at the cars as Pat walked over to Courtney.

"So, is that him? He's good looking like you said he was. Is this a date?" Pat asked only for Courtney to elbow him in the side.

"Shut up, Pat." Courtney told him as he rubbed his side.

"Ah, I get it. He doesn't know that you like him." Pat said.

"Shut up, Pat." Courtney told him yet again.

"You should really get the ball rolling on that. You want him to take you to the Junior Prom, right? No better time than the present." Pat suggested as Max walked by and slobbered some droll on his boots. "Ah, Max."

"Good dog." Courtney scratched his head and smiled.

Will walked through the small open car yard with the old and used models for sale. He saw an old Honda Civic, a Toyota Corolla, a few minivans and one or two pickup trucks. And those were the good cars. Everything else was either dissembled for parts or junk. He made sure Courtney was still talking to Pat before he took out the Proto-box from his backpack and used the scanner to find something worth buying along with giving him possible images of what they could look like after some fixing. Honestly, none of the cars were worth looking at until he stopped at one in particular.

The car was old with some panels missing along with the roof. The card hood was gone to show a pretty decent 6.5 L V8 engine but it needed some serious love and care before it would run. It was an old 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS and the possible images of what it would look like made Will very interested in getting it. He imagined getting this thing to run would take a long time but he figured he could cut that down with some alien help.

"Find something yet?" They heard as Pat, Courtney, and Max walked over.

"Yeah, how much for this one?" He pointed to the old Camaro.

"You sure you want this one?" Pat asked and Will nodded.

"Are you sure about that, Will? I mean, this is barely a car. Look, it doesn't even have any tires." Courtney knelt to point at the car wheels and the bare rubber remains of what used to be tires.

"I know it's barely a car. It's now a project." Will told her. "Restoring this baby to her prime could be a lot of fun."

"I like him." Pat told Courtney who elbowed him yet again. "It's yours, Will. And given its current conditions you can have it for…$1,000."

"Deal." Will shook his hand. "And given that I'll likely be fixing this thing for a while I may have to rent out a spot at your garage to do that."

"We can work something out." Pat promised as he looked at Courtney and gestured her to speak to him only for her to mouth shut up, yet again. "So, Will. Courtney tells me the Junior Prom is coming up soon."

"Yeah, it is. Beth and Yolanda are on the junior prom committee so they've been working extra hard to get the dance ready next month." Will told him as he looked over the car.

"Yeah, they've been so busy. So, ready to go?" Courtney asked Will only for Pat to keep up his questioning.

"I bet. Any plans?" Pat wondered and that made Will freeze for a moment.

"Uh, actually no. Guess it's kind of gotten away from me." He admitted.

"I know, same with Courtney. She doesn't have a date to the Junior Prom either." Pat told him only for Courtney to stomp on his boot.

"Really? I find that hard to believe. I imagine Court would have guys flocking to take her to the dance." Will commented causing her to blush a bit. "Aw, she's blushing."

"Isn't she adorable?" Pat added as they both chuckled while Courtney looked like she could murder them both. "Any person you have your eye on for a date, Will?"

"Uh, I haven't really asked anyone yet. I've been busy with an afterschool job." He admitted.

"Oh, well I think you should find a date and go." Pat told him as Courtney had enough and grabbed Will's arm.

"We don't need your opinion, Pat. Will is capable of making his own decisions and can do what he wants." Courtney told him. Will was a bit confused at Courtney's behavior and Pat's questions when it finally dawned on him what was going on. At least, he thought he knew what was going on so he decided to take a chance.

"Well, I was planning to go. Courtney, if a guy doesn't manage to snag your attention and whisk you away to your fairytale, how about we go together?" Will suggested.

"Uh, sure." Courtney smiled. "That sounds great."

"Perfect." He smiled when he felt his phone buzz so he checked it and saw it was a message from the DEO with an emergency alert. "Thanks again, Mr. Dugan for the car. I've got to head home now. My dad needs me but I'll pay for it tomorrow if you'll hold onto for me."

"Don't worry. It'll be here waiting for you tomorrow." He promised.

"Thanks. I'll call you later, Courtney." Will hugged her quickly before leaving. Once he was safe distance away, he went into an alley and turned into XLR8 to head to the desert base. Pat smiled at Courtney, thinking everything went according to plan only for her to stomp on his boot yet again.

DEO Desert Base

In a whoosh of air, XLR8 appeared at the DEO base before turning back to Will where he rushed in and saw the base was in high alert. He rushed over to the ops center to see a lot of agents gathered by the monitors for a mission briefing.

"All right, everyone. This is a priority alpha situation. Approximately ten minutes ago, our satellites picked up a bogey entering the solar system on a course for earth. Our initials scans have detected both organic and inorganic matter in the cluster and its light trail shows that it is adjusting its speed throughout its course. It is not a meteorite, everyone but something much worse. All our calculations have it projecting to land in in the Northwest sector of Wyoming in the Yellowstone National Park. Whatever this thing is, it is on a direct course for Earth and will make landfall in approximately 30 minutes. The National Guard are evacuating the park as we speak and setting up a perimeter around the area but we will be first on the scene. Bring everything we have; I want wheels up in ten minutes." Henshaw ordered and everyone got to work as quickly as possible. "Mr. Detmer, get there and evacuate anyone still in the impact area then secure it."

"Right away." Will activated the Omnitrix and turned it to XLR8 but after the flash of light, he found himself turned into something large and heavy. "Whoa…!"

He fell on his back and waddled a bit like a turtle who flipped over and the reason for that was because of the alien he turned into. Instead of a Kineceleran, he was a hulking, broad-shouldered alien covered in yellow armor plating that adorned his back, shoulders, and the back of his arms. His body was mostly white with black on his upper half and with four claws on both hands. He honestly looked like a panda mixed with an armadillo but wider.

Will looked at the sharp claws on his large hands and wasn't sure what he turned into. "Can someone help me up?" He asked as a few agents and Director Henshaw helped him back to his feet but they had to steady him. "Whoa…this is a bad time for a new alien."

"Agreed. Can you fix this?" Henshaw asked and he nodded.

"Sure. Where's the symbol?" Will asked and one of the agents pointed to what was probably his forehead so he slapped it and turned into XLR8. "That's better. See you guys there." XLR8 closed his helmet and sped away in a hurry which kicked up a lot of dust.

Line Break xxxxx

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

The National Guard were deployed all around Yellowstone National Park to evacuate everyone and set up a perimeter to keep people from getting in. Once news got out that the National Guard had set up a perimeter around the park, news crews followed. Because Yellowstone covered an area of over 3,000 square miles, local police forces and emergency services were tasked to help with the perimeter. There was even word that more components of the US military might have to intervene and help. At the moment, no official word had been given out by the National Guard so the news weren't sure what to report but the second whatever was coming from space landed, it would be pretty obvious.

National Guard soldiers kept people and news cameras back behind the barricade set up around the park and kept their mouths shut as reporters tried to ask what was going on when a whoosh of air brushed past them like a tornado. Many reporters were quick to report that Superman had arrived for the incident only they were kind of wrong. XLR8 began speeding all around the park to find any stragglers, campers, hikers, or nosy reporters who snuck past the barricade. He managed to cover the entire 3,417 square mile National Park faster than anyone could and searched the place 16 times in the span of about 4 minutes. Four wayward hikers, a family camping in their RV along with a group of teenagers and several ambitious reporters were brought back to the barricade, wondering how they were whisked away.

XLR8 returned to the projected impact area and turned back to Will who quickly activated his armor, using its comm system to contact Director Henshaw. "Director Henshaw, I'm at the projected crash site. All civilians have been evacuated and the National Guard along with police are keeping the perimeter. Is the entity still on its course?"

"It is and it's closing in fast. We'll be there a few minutes before it makes landfall." Director Henshaw told him.

"Roger that." Will replied as he sat down on a rock and took out the Proto-box. It scanned the area and confirmed there were no other humans within the park perimeter. He heard some growling and saw a black bear walk over. It looked at Will and huffed before it just kept walking by and left. "Bye, Yogi."

He tapped into the DEO satellites to see what information there was on what was coming and based on the scans it was large but some kind of mixture of organic and inorganic material. That's most of what he could tell as it had some kind of shielding around it that kept the scans from penetrating too deep. But Director Henshaw was right that this thing was adjusting its speed and course to head for earth so it was coming here for something.

"Any particular reason you're here?" He heard along with the flutter of a cape. One glance up and he saw the blue suit, red cape, and red and yellow S shield of the Man of Steel, Superman. He was tall, at least 6ft if not taller and well built by human standards. (1)

"Oh my god…Superman…" Will was in awe as he was seeing the Man of Steel in person.

"That's my name." Superman x-rayed the mystery individual but found that his x-ray vision couldn't penetrate the suit and mask he was wearing. "Interesting suit you have there."

"Oh my god, you're Superman." Will muttered again.

"You ok, there?" Superman hovered down and touched the ground.

"Sorry, it's just your Superman. I'm a fan. I've seen your fights with Metallo, Atomic Skull, Toyman, Intergang, Parasite, and Bizarro. The time you punched Metallo across Metropolis bay and then threw him into the air was awesome." Will told him, sounding like a complete fanboy which, he was before he calmed down a bit. "Sorry, Mr. Superman."

"It's ok. And just Superman. What are you doing here in the middle of the park while the National Guard are setting up a perimeter?" He asked.

"Uh, sorry Superman. I'd tell you but I don't think I'm allowed to." He replied and Superman deduced why he was here.

"You sound a little young to be a DEO agent." Superman told him.

"It's sort of a special situation. How did you end up here?" Will asked.

"I heard the chatter and the National Guard setting up a perimeter around Yellowstone National Park. It had to be something serious so I came to see if I could help." Superman replied when he perked his head up to the east. "Looks like the rest of your team is here."

Just as he finished his sentence, 10 DEO VTOL helicopters arrived with some carrying jeeps and other heavy vehicles. They touched down and the DEO agents began to secure the area along with getting their heavy weapons and vehicles ready when they saw Superman. Director Henshaw signaled them to get back to work as he walked over to him and Will.

"Superman, didn't expect to see you here." Director Henshaw remarked.

"I go wherever there's trouble. Part of the job." Superman replied and Will could note the small hints of friction between the two.

"I take it you two have some history." He commented.

"Something like that. Still have the Kryptonite under lock and key?" Superman asked.

"As per DEO purview. You never know when another Kryptonian may arrive who doesn't share your shiny disposition towards humanity." Henshaw remarked as Will stepped in between the two.

"How about we save this for after we make sure the earth is kept safe from whatever's coming. It'll be here any minute." Will reminded them when he saw Superman's head perk up again.

"No, it's here now." Superman said and a large meteor flew over them before crashing down about a quarter of a mile to the north. Superman flew towards the crash site with Will following behind him on foot.

"Get the vehicles loaded! Let's move!" Henshaw ordered and the DEO agents moved as quickly as possible. Once they were set, they began off-roading towards the crash site.

Superman flew in the air while Will raced through the forest, his suit making him run 10x faster than a normal human. He brushed through the foliage and then jumped high into the air, swinging from a branch before igniting his jet boots and flying through the air a bit. He landed in the impact trench of whatever crashed down. Now seeing it with his own eyes, it was huge. At least 200 feet wide and massive with a thick dark red/brown color that honestly made it look like an asteroid. Will's HUD began scanning the object and the outer red layer was actually some kind of organic shielding with incredible resistance to external force. It's probably what allowed it to survive the heat of atmospheric entry and the pressure of deep space but his scans did detect some kind of heartbeat underneath that armor.

Superman floated down the ground and X-rayed the object but whatever shielding it had was blocking him. "I can't see anything. It's blocking my x-ray vision."

"Not surprising. Whatever that thing is, it's armor is insanely dense and resistant. But it's not an asteroid. I'm picking up a heartbeat underneath." Will told him.

"It's alive?" Superman asked as the DEO team arrived in their vehicles. The agents got out with their weapons and equipment while some agents got on the heavy weapons on the jeeps and APC.

"It's alive all right. And I don't think it's here for altruistic purposes." Will told him when they felt some rumbling. The outer shell of the thing began to crack apart before a large sharp spike pierced through and dug into the ground. "Get back!"

Will, Superman, Director Henshaw and the DEO agents retreated as three more spikes pierced through the shell and dug into the ground as the rest of the thing began to move which made the red outer layer shell break off to reveal a hulking pink, purple, and blue kind of alien tick or larva. The front part opened up to reveal various tentacles which dug into the ground as its large, engorged stomach/body took up most of its space along with four blue spouts sacks, two on each side but the body itself looked more like armor as it was layered over one another. Will HUD scanned it again and it was some kind of alien insect with extremely dense and resistant armor.

The blue spout sacks released a puff of pungent smelling gas that made everyone cover their nose. "What is that thing?" Henshaw asked.

"Some kind of insect. A large one." Will replied when they saw another alien ship arrive which quickly deployed three aliens on hover platforms. They were three different species of three different sizes. A small one, a human sized one, and a large human sized one but they were all wearing similar religious like robes with the same pendants and had the same jewel headbands on. The largest one was carrying an energy axe on its shoulder.

"Rejoice. He's arrived in all his glorious glory." The middle one spoke as they gathered around the insect.

The smallest one flew over to the creature and hugged it. "I await his proclamation."

Everyone looked at each other in worry before Director Henshaw stepped forward. "I'm Director Hank Henshaw of the Department of Extra-normal Operations. You are trespassing on this planet. Identify yourself."

"Relax. We come in peace." The middle one spoke, clearly the leader of the three.

"Yeah, that's what a lot of aliens say but they don't really mean peace." Will remarked as the large one hovered around them. The DEO agents kept their fingers ready by their triggers in case a fire fight started.

"Hmm, an earthling with attitude. I've heard they exist here in large numbers, or should I say did." The large one stated.

"Who are you and what is your business on earth?" Superman asked them as he floated in the air to be eye to eye with them.

"Ah, a Kryptonian. Your presence here must be a sign provided by the Great One. Is he not tremendous?" The leader pointed to the large tick.

"Tremendous. All hail the Tremendous one." The three aliens said together.

"Oh, great. Crazy religious aliens." Will muttered as the large alien hovered to them before looking at Superman.

"You're a little far away from home, aren't you Kryptonian? Unfortunate for you that there's nothing to go back to. A shame the Tremendous one never got the chance to purify your planet."

"Shh…everyone quiet down. He's speaking to me." The small one hugged the tick.

"Uh, we're not hearing anything." Will pointed out.

"Only I speak his language." The small one told him.

"Oh, how convenient." He said as he looked at Director Henshaw who nodded. The Director then signaled his men to discreetly move apart and ready their weapons while one agent began tapping his radio receiver to signal the pilots.

"The great one says your planet will be purified before the next moon. You are quite lucky." The small alien stated as everyone saw the alien tick's tentacles begin to spread some kind of energy into the ground.

"I don't think so." Henshaw told him.

"No. It's actually quite the experience. Let me show you." The leader moved in front of the humans.

"No, not the audiovisual thing again." The large one said as the leader gave him a look before pressing the side of his headband to project some images.

"We followed the great one from planet to planet, galaxy to galaxy after he paid a visit to each and every one of our planets. Notice his technique, the deep burrowing of the appendages into the core of the planet, rotting it from the inside and then ingesting it." The leader announced as the images showed what the tick was going to do. "Your cities will be laid to waste, your oceans will dry up, your mountains will crumble."

"You willingly follow a giant alien tick as it feeds on planets and commits genocide? What about the millions if not billions of innocent lives you help exterminate?! Don't you feel anything?!" Will shouted in anger.

"We do. Great pride in our work as the great one continues throughout the galaxy." The small one told him.

"It will be the end of the world as you know it." The large one added.

"Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice." The three chanted only for three small darts to stick to their chest before small explosions knocked them against the large tick. Everyone looked to see it was Will who fired them from his wrist launcher.

"Sorry but you assholes picked the wrong planet to try and eat. And you're gonna pay for what you've done!" He charged forward as the large alien brandished his energy axe and flew at him but Superman super sped forward and slammed him into the ground. Will pulled out his throwing disk/boomerang and threw it at the aliens as the leader conjured up an energy barrier that made it bounce off. It returned to Will's hand who jumped high into the air to avoid an energy blast from the small alien before throwing the boomerang again at the tick but it bounced off its armor. Will activated his shield and cannonballed on the small alien, tackling him to the ground as the DEO opened fired on the leader.

The leader used his hover platform to avoid their plasma rifles as one blast skimmed past his arm and made him bleed blue blood. He sneered at the humans and fired down energy blasts from the crown on his head as the DEO agents moved around to avoid being hit. One agent got his in the chest but the new armor Grey Matter designed absorbed the energy so it just knocked the wind out of him and put him on his back. Two agents threw grenades at the leader which exploded and trapped him in Stinkfly's goo. Another upgrade to the DEO's arsenal. The leader quickly used the crown on his head to fire lasers that cut through the goo and free himself before creating a shield that blocked the DEO's plasma blasts.

Some of the agents threw more grenades while the gunners on the vehicles opened fire. Most had .50 calibers machine guns but one jeep had a Plasma Blastgun, another of Grey Matter's inventions that helped stop a lot of the alien fugitives and enemies they encountered. A mounted weapon as it was too heavy and hot to carry for a single person, the enormous double-barreled plasma weapon fired power blasts of energy that could blow through two tanks and disabled the third one. It could either fire in full shot mode where both barrels discharged at the same time or rapid shot which had the barrels fire independently and while it was weaker it was much faster. (2)

The gunner pulled down the heat shield protection on his helmet as he charged up the full shot while the other agents kept firing at the leader's shield. Once the energy meter on the side was full, he squeezed the trigger and the Blastgun's two barrels fired a large green plasma sphere at the leader's shield. It hit like a cannonball but all you could see was a flash of green light. The plasma sphere sent the leader crashing through several trees before he crashed down in the nearby woods.

Superman was hit into the air as the large alien charged after him with his energy axe and sliced the air, sending an energy slash which hit the Kryptonian with the force of an RPG. It knocked Superman back before he quickly adjusted his position and swerved to avoid an energy axe to the side before punching the large alien in the face and knocking him off his hover platform. The large alien got back to his feet and pressed a button on his crown which made his hover platform return to him. He quickly got back on and slashed at Superman but missed as he swerved to the side and used his heat vision to slice his hover platform in two. As the large alien fell through the air, Superman uppercut him up before flying above him and then sent him to the ground with an overhead hammer slam.

Will jumped off the tiny alien as it fired energy blasts from the crown on his head but they deflected off his shield. He dove to the side and rolled to avoid more energy blasts while firing bullets from his wrist launcher. The tiny alien swerved through the air on his hover platform to avoid being hit while firing at the armored human with his crown. Will dove behind a rock and ejected the spent ammo cartridge to load another before quickly rolling to the side to avoid being hit by a laser. The tiny alien chased after him, firing lasers from his crown as Will front flipped through the air and grabbed a tree branch to swing himself forward. Laser blasts scorched the trees as the tiny alien swerved around the foliage to keep up. Will slid on the ground and fired a dart at a passing tree which quickly shot out a polymer cable to another tree. The tiny alien was too slow to react as he ended up being clotheslined and knocked off his hover platform which fell to the ground. Will fired an electric dart at the tiny alien, stunning him before ripping the crown off its head.

"Everyone! Their crowns are their power. Take them out!" Will radioed in to the DEO team who stalked over to the impact crater of the leader alien and saw him unconscious. They quickly restrained him and removed his crown.

"Target one is down. Their leader is secure." Director Henshaw reported when they heard a boom and something crashed down next to them. They saw it was the larger alien, bruised and a little worse for wear.

"Their muscle is down." They heard as Superman hovered down, holding the crown and the energy axe which he snapped in half.

Will walked over and tossed over the tiny alien who he wrapped with the polymer cable. "And their translator is down. All that's left is the tick." He said when everyone saw the trees and plants begin to turn purple and mutate. The trees began to morph, enlarged and turning into things straight out of a horror movie with an eerie white color on the bark that contrasted with the purple branches that soon came alive like snakes.

"That tick must be mutating the local plant life." Superman said as he turned around to the tick and fired his heat vision which just reflected off.

"Open fire!" Director Henshaw and the DEO team fired their plasma rifles but they reflected off the same as the heat vision. The heavy guns didn't do anything and even the Plasma Blastgun didn't leave a scratch. The DEO VTOLs hovered in the air and fired their machine guns and missiles but nothing. "Not even a scratch on it."

"Maybe it's time we try some physical force." Will activated the Omnitrix and turned the dial before slamming it down. In the span of nano-seconds, his body morphed and transformed into Four Arms. He super jumped forward and smashed his fists into the Tick which did cause some of its armor to dent and crack but that's it. When he landed, he grabbed onto the Tick and began trying to lift it out of the ground. Superman saw what he was doing and joined him as their feet cracked and dug into the ground. The two super strong aliens did something as the alien tick let out an angry growl and slapped them away with one of its tentacles.

Superman recovered in the air while Four Arms crashed in the dirt. "Ugh, that hurt." Four Arms shook his head to focus and pushed some of the dirt off while Superman super sped forward and punched the tick, causing another dent. He began flying around the tick so fast that he was blur and punched it all over. He was hitting all over at super speed so all you could see was a red and blue blur and hear the clank of his fist meeting the tick's armor. His constant barrage definitely pissed it off as it let out an angry roar that shook the ground and forced everyone to cover their ears, even Superman. That split second was enough as the Tick slammed down Superman with one of its tentacles. It then smashed him again, creating a large crater.

Four Arms slapped the Omnitrix dial and turned into Heatblast. He ignited his hands and slammed them onto the ground, creating a firestorm that fissured through the earth and engulfed the tick in its blazing inferno. It was so bright and hot that the DEO agents had to back away to shield themselves. Superman saw the blazing inferno and used his super breath to help stoke it, making it a hotter than hell itself. News reporters, bystanders, and the National Guard at the perimeter got a perfect view of a blazing inferno tower erupt in the middle of the park that could be seen from miles away. Heatblast stopped after another minute or so and watched the inferno scorch the surrounding earth with heat that could melt through steel beams and probably melt concrete as well but once it was gone, they saw the Tick still there.

"You've got to be kidding me." Heatblast muttered, seeing not even a burn mark on the alien insect. He was tempted to try and go supernova but then he risked ignited the earth's atmosphere and killing all human life on earth so he needed a new plan and a new alien. He tapped the Omnitrix and turned into Diamondhead where he fired a crystal barrage from his hands but they just deflected or broke against the tick's armor like the DEO's weapons or Superman's heat vision. He held his hands together and formed a large crystal spear at least four inches thick and charged, like a spearman in an medieval army but it still broke against the tick's armor. "Oh, come on."

The tick then hit him away with one of its claws before it began spewing some kind of gas from the blue sacks on its side. Along with the gas, it began to secrete some kind of greyish pus. As it began to change, they noticed the surrounding wildlife began to wither away and die instead of mutating. Everyone could hear a deep gurgling coming from the tick like its stomach was doing something and it began to shake as some parts of the shell began to break apart.

"What's it doing now?" Superman asked.

"I'm not an insect expert but it looks like its shedding." Will replied, turning back to human.

"More like transforming into something." Director Henshaw corrected him as the four large blue sacks on its body began spewing out grey slime that instantly melted and ate through the ground when it made contact. "It's spewing out some kind of acid."

"Everyone get back!" Superman shouted as he flew into the air to avoid some acid slime. Director Henshaw and the DEO agents quickly moved out of the way with some of them getting into the Jeeps so they could be driven away. Will saw some slime spew into the air and about to fall on two agents so he rushed forward and pulled them out of the way before they were melted alive.

"Thanks."

"No problem." Will replied as they joined the others and moved away from the tick. His new armor was tough but he didn't want test it against the acid. His HUD scanned the creature and its metamorphosis. Whatever it was doing, it wouldn't be long before things got even worse and whatever was happening to Yellowstone began spreading to the rest of the planet.

"Our best weapons couldn't even make a scratch." Director Henshaw commented.

"And it resisted my super strength and my heat vision." Superman added as he hovered down to them.

"That thing stood up against my heaviest hitters. I don't think I've got any aliens that can take that thing down." Will activated the Omnitrix and spun through his list of aliens until he stopped on the silhouette of the one unlocked at the DEO. The large walking panda bear. "It worked out with Zombozo and my Martian form. Maybe I'll get lucky again."

He slammed the dial down and began his metamorphosis which enlarged his body, arms and legs while adjusting his head to its new size before armor plating began to sprout over his body. "I just hope this guy can actually do something."

He took a few steps forward, wobbling as he did before he managed to find his footing when he fell forward. Instead of going splat on his face, his arms and legs curled into his body and head which made him look like a large armadillo and began rolling at the tick at super speed. Probably even outpacing top of the line super cars. He zipped on the ground, avoiding the Tick's acid spray before he went off an angled crater in the ground which launched him into the air. He hit the tick and bounced off, skipping backward but kept rolling. He rolled around and headed towards the tick again. Some acid slime sprayed into the air and fell on him but he was able to keep going without any harm, showing this alien's armor-like skin was naturally resistant to acid. Unfortunately, he bounced off the alien tick yet again and crashed down by the DEO.

"Dammit. Nothing." Will said when the ground around the tick began to crack and more slime began to spew out.

"Let the digestion begin!" the alien followers cheered as the four blue sacks on the tick's side began to suck in air.

They watched as stones and debris were pulled in to the sacks by the suction force and that gave Will an idea. "Superman, Director Henshaw! Get everyone out of here! I'll handle this thing!"

"How do you plan to do that?!" Director Henshaw asked, holding onto a Jeep so he didn't go flying.

"By taking it down from the inside!" Will curled up into a ball and rolled forward.

"Wait!" Superman shouted but it feel on deaf ears as he saw the armadillo alien get launched into the air and then pulled in by the tick's suction force.

"SAY AH!"

Will was sucked into one of the alien's sack and the kinetic energy made him bounce around like the tiny ball in a pinball machine. He bounced around in the tick's suction sack before the force was too much for it to handle and he broke free, allowing him to bounce all around the tick's internal organs with the force of a ton of concrete moving at over 200mph. He tore through a large vein before barreling through a set of ribs and then bounced back and forth between a set of lungs until they splattered. All his damage began to spew the tick's blood inside its body so it was suffering from internal bleeding along with broken ribs and destroyed organs.

The DEO team and Superman had retreated when the Tick stopped sucking in air. Its armored shell broke apart piece by piece until it shattered to reveal the Tick's gooey flesh body which was heaving and thrashing from whatever Will was doing. It soon expanded like a massive water balloon before it exploded and rained down tick pus and acid slime for a mile around.

The DEO hid behind rocks and their cars for protection while Superman shielded some of them. His suit and his body was able to handle the slime while they couldn't. The three alien captives looked at each other in both horror and stunned silence. "The great one. He's been silenced." The tiny one muttered.

One of the DEO VTOL's touched down and Max got out of the cockpit as fast as he could before rushing over to Director Henshaw. "Where's Will?" Henshaw and the others looked at the epicenter of the epic tick explosion and shared looked of unease. "Oh god."

They quickly went over to the tick's smoldering remains where all they saw was its skeleton, armor pieces and fragments along with a lot of blue puss all over the place. "WILL!" Max shouted, moving one of the Tick's rib bones out of the way to try and find him.

"He's there!" Superman pointed to a large pile of tick puss that was moving. Soon enough, they saw Will crawl his way out of the tick puss and liquified organs. He was back in his armor which meant the Omnitrix timed out but he was alive and well.

"Ok…I'm going to need the longest shower in the history of showers." He shook his helmet to get some of the Tick puss off but it didn't help much. "Did it work?"

After he asked that, everyone saw the color and life of the ground, grass, plants, and trees return to normal. "Looks like it." Superman assured him. "Good work, kid."

With the destruction of the alien tick, the capture of his acolytes and the safety of the planet assured, everyone could breathe a sigh of relief. The DEO quickly began to pack up their gear and then got to work on securing, cleaning, and disposing of any remnants of the alien tick. Two of the choppers took the three acolytes back to the DEO base for detention and after the Omnitrix recharged, Will had Grey Matter and Upgrade do a full analysis of their ship and got it ready for transport back to the DEO base for storage. Director Henshaw also made sure to collect as many fragments of the alien tick's armor as possible. He wanted his engineers and Grey Matter to figure out a way to modify it for armor for their vehicles and even enhance their already impressive body armor.

The engineers made sure the surrounding area was no longer infected and it wasn't. All the damage the alien tick did to the surrounding wildlife was reversed after its death so they caught a break. Speaking of the tick, it's skeletal structure was too massive to carry back and they couldn't burn it so Superman volunteered to throw it into the sun. He said it was thanks to Will for stopping the Tick.

Speaking of Will, he and his armor were getting a high-powered wash and disinfectant by some agents with some modified high-pressure washers. After enough washing and a clean scan from a tech he was clear so he deactivated his armor and took a deep breath, enjoying the clean smell of nature.

"I've always wanted to come to Yellowstone National Park." Will commented as Director Henshaw walked over to him.

"You can cross it off your bucket list. Well done, today Mr. Detmer. Your talent with your suit is improving."

"Thank you, Director. I'm just glad we were able to stop it and my new alien came in handy. I'm thinking of calling him…Cannonbolt." Will declared.

"Why?" A passing agent asked.

"Because he moves like a cannonball but hits like a lightning bolt. It's clever." He replied but realized that a group of government agents a lot older than him was probably not the best audience to test his nicknames for his aliens. "Anyway, glad things worked out. I got to see Yellowstone National park, saved the world, and I've gotten to meet Superman."

"Guess that's three things you can cross off the bucket list." He heard as Superman hovered down and touched the ground. "You were pretty brave today. Not many people I know would have run headlong into danger."

"I'm not most people. And I've been known to get lucky from time to time." Will replied. "Any trouble?"

"No. It was smooth and the skeleton is on its way to the sun." Superman assured him as he looked down at the watch on Will's wrist and noted how the symbol was the same as the one on the aliens. "Never seen a watch that can turn someone into an alien. Didn't think the DEO would give a weapon like that to a child."

"The situation is a little more complicated than that. And they didn't give me this. It found me." Will told him. "And I'm here of my own accord."

"Right." Superman looked at Henshaw, not really sure if he bought that but his super hearing picked up that Will's heart was steady the entire time. He wasn't lying or being forced here. "Well, take care of yourself, kid. Maybe we'll see each other again."

Will smiled before he took out his phone. "If it's not too much trouble, can I get a picture?" He asked and Superman nodded so he walked up to him and put his arm over his large shoulder to take a selfie. He and Superman smiled before shaking hands. "It was an honor working with you, Superman. A real honor."

"Take care of yourself, kid. You've got a good head on your shoulders." Superman told him before he crouched and took off into the air like a bullet, making a sonic boom as he did.

"Enjoy yourself?" Director Henshaw wondered as Will smirked in response.

"It was Superman, of course I did." He checked the photo to make sure it was clear and had no issue. "Oh man, no would is ever going to believe this."

"Because you can't tell them." Henshaw reminded him.

"I know, I know. Still, that's another thing off the bucket list." Will smiled before checking out the Omnitrix which had turned yellow indicating it had captured a new DNA sample. The dial spun around before the hourglass symbol merged and a new silhouette formed in the shape of a large man with a cape. "Score."

"That's why you asked for the photo."

"Well, I also wanted a photo of course but seeing as how I was able to capture a Megawatt, why not capture a Kryptonian." Will held up the Omnitrix. "I just found my new heavy hitter and I've got the perfect name for this one: Ultraman."

National City

After the alien Tick situation, no other alien attack or such had occurred which was nice so they spent that time tracking down other alien fugitives and working on the tick's armor and trying to synthesize a new material out of it. So far, no luck. Will managed to coerce Director Henshaw into giving him and his dad a day or two off. Partially to relax but also so they could get started on the car Will was buying.

Will met his dad at Pat's garage after school so he could see the car and plan out their repair plans. Ed, Vic, Beth, Yolanda, and Courtney joined him and suffice to say that when they saw the car, they all could agree on one thing.

"What a piece of junk."

"Wow, thanks Ed." Will commented. "Come on, guys. Sure, it needs some tender love and care—"

"Forget tender love and care. This thing deserves a burial." Vic added, walking around the car and all he saw was a piece of scrap metal. "It's not too late to get your money back, dude."

"Forget it. I'm keeping her." Will told him.

"Her?" Courtney and Beth asked.

"It's what you call a car." Pat explained as he joined them. "Still, I'm more than happy to help you Will but this isn't going to be easy."

"If anything in life was easy, it wouldn't be worth living. That's a Detmer family motto." Will said and Max smiled in response.

"That's my boy." Max walked over and grabbed his shoulders in pride. "If you want to do this, then I'm ready to help however I can. I've fixed my fair share of engines. Granted, those were jet engines but it's the same principle."

"Well, before you even think about fixing the engine, you'll need to survey the entire car to figure out exactly what you need to do, then get the parts and you'll have to fix all the external and physical damage. Not to mention checking all the hoses, wires, and the exhaust system." Pat told them and to everyone it sounded a little daunting.

"You sure you don't want to get a Corolla from a used car dealership?" Yolanda wondered.

"No chance. This'll be fun." Will put his backpack down and jacket before putting on some gloves. "And if you're not going to be helpful, please be silent. All I want is positive thinking from the peanut gallery."

"Don't worry, Will. I'm positive." Beth assured him.

"Thank you, Beth." Will smiled.

"I'm positive that it won't work." She finished causing the others to chuckle.

"You walked right into that one, dude." Vic joked as Will just shoved him back and got to work.

He, Max, and Pat scoured every inch of the car to check its condition and plan out what they needed to do. The body of the car needed to be fixed of all scratches and the dents needed to be buffed out while any broken panels needed to be replaced. Then all the rust needed to be scrubbed away and buffed out while the all the chrome pieces needed to be polished. It needed a new battery, the engine needed new hoses, components, and belts along with a serious cleaning. Then he needed to fix the drivetrain, stick shift, brake fluid, along with a new exhaust system. After that they could refurbish and clean the interior and finally paint it. All in all, it would cost them about 15,000 dollars which was a conservative estimate but Max told Will they could swipe some stuff from the DEO garage to help. Plus, Grey Matter would be able to make anything they needed out of scrap.

After the rough estimate and planning, Will spent the next few hours cleaning both the exterior and undercarriage of the car. His friends donned gloves and masks to help the cleaning go a lot faster. They cleaned the car and the undercarriage with power hoses and some solvents before drying it. Then used painter's tape to mark off sections of the rust to remove and got to work. With some orbital sanders, grinders, and hand scrapers, they managed to remove all the rust from the car while removing the panels that needed to be replaced. After all the rust and damage was fixed, what was left of the car didn't look bad at all but it still needed some work.

"Well, that's not bad for a day's work." Pat stated as he wiped his hands with a cloth. Will slid out from underneath the car, having finished cleaning the undercarriage.

"Not bad at all. She looks a lot better than before." He added, cleaning his hands with a towel. "All we need to do is replace the back fender and it'll look a lot better."

"Yeah, minus the missing roof and interior of the car." Vic commented, cleaning his hands of the solvent he applied to the car to help prevent more rusting.

"Not really how I imagined my day but it was all right." Ed said, cleaning his hands.

"I'm not sure I agree with you, Ed." Yolanda told him as she cleaned her hands with a sanitary wipe before using hand sanitizer.

"I owe all of you for helping me. Big Belly Burger is on me." Will promised. "You made this work go a lot faster."

"I still estimate you won't have this car ready for another two months." Beth told him.

"Bet you ten bucks we can get it done in one." Will wagered.

"Deal." Beth and Will shook hands at the bet.

"All right. That's enough of that. You kids did great today." Max told them. "And like Will promised, dinner's on him. Come on, let's get something to eat."

"Best news I've heard all day." Ed replied when he saw Vic flexing his arms.

"I actually feel a little sore. Guess working on the car was a good workout." Vic joked as everyone grabbed their stuff.

Will smiled at the car before grabbing his backpack and jacket when he saw Courtney walk over and noticed she had a grease smudge on her cheek. "Court."

She saw him pointing to her cheek so she checked her face with her phone and quickly cleaned it. "Thanks."

"No, thank you. This wouldn't have been as fun without you and the others." Will told her. "I know cars aren't really your thing but thanks for helping."

"My pleasure." Courtney smiled as they walked over to join the others.

"So, are we still on for the junior prom or has a lucky guy managed to win your heart?" Will wondered.

"No, we're still on." Courtney replied.

"Ok. Sounds like a plan." Will smiled as they joined the others and headed to Big Belly Burger for dinner.

The next day…

After school, Will headed back to Pat's garage to continue working on the car. His friends had to do some stuff his dad was needed back at the DEO so it was just himself. He and his dad ordered the parts for the car and the engine which would take some time to arrive so he decided to get to work on cleaning out the interior and getting rid of the old seats. Pat was busy with the cars he had to repair but spared some glances at Will every now and then and was impressed with his commitment. Car repair wasn't something you just pick up but he was doing what he could.

Doing what he could took about two hours so he headed to the DEO desert base after to get some training in. After a sweat inducing training session, Grey Matter could be seen in the engineering lab using a pencil with both hands to draw something in a notebook.

"If I adjust the compensator and add in a new transmission line here it'll increase the horsepower and rpm by 25%. Then I can reroute the clutch lines to the center valve and if I add in a supercharger, it'll increase power of the internal combustion engine and power to weight ratio over oxygen consumption. Of course, it'll overheat the engine but that can be handled with a lining of polymer laminates and hydrian-solution to keep it steady and increase its overall heat resistance. It won't overheat unless it reaches temperatures upward of 100,000 degrees Fahrenheit. And I can support the chassis with some promethium metal to increase suspension and torque stability." Grey Matter muttered to himself as he scribbled down the designs for the car's engine and structure along with notes for the rest of the car. "Hey Jones."

"Hey." Agent Jones walked by the Galvan to get some stuff, not paying him any mind at all. It was becoming common place to see one of Will's aliens walking around the base.

"Jones, can you hand me the pencil sharpener?" Grey Matter asked as Jones grabbed one and placed it next to the notebook. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." Jones waved goodbye and left to get back to work.

"That takes care of the engine. Now onto the modifications I can make to the car." Grey Matter sharpened the pencil before turning the page and jotting some things down.

The next day…

Will was in his calculus class jotting down notes as his teacher lectured while writing down calculations and problems on the board. He looked around and saw a range of students with a range of attention spans doing a range of things. Most students paid attention like they were supposed to, one student had their head propped up to look like they were paying attention when they were sleeping, and some students weren't paying attention at all.

The bell rung soon after that as everyone grabbed their bags and left. The teacher called out to remind them their homework was due tomorrow before they all left. As Will walked down the hallway, he kept seeing posters for the Junior Prom coming up in two weeks. It was honestly all the students in his grade would talk about. Well, that and then the senior prom and then the end of the school year as well.

He walked into history class where he saw Ed, Yolanda, and Courtney sitting so he walked over and joined them. "Hey, guys."

"Hey."

"Hey." Courtney smiled at him and he smiled back. "So, I talked to Vic and believe it or not his dad is paying for the limo so we're set."

"Sounds great. And I've already got our tickets." Will assured her.

"Aw, aren't you two adorable." Ed joked only for Courtney to throw a pencil at his head. "It's cute that you're going together."

"And who are you going with, Eduardo?" Yolanda pointed out, shutting him up as he still hadn't managed to land a date. "Don't worry, Eduardo. Beth said she's more than happy to go with you as a friend."

"Don't patronize me, Yolanda. And it's Ed, not Eduardo." Ed told her. "And I love Beth for doing that, believe me I do. And I'm more than happy to go with her as well but I've still got some time."

"The Junior Prom's in two weeks, Ed. Any girl who hasn't already been asked to the dance probably has plans." Courtney told him. "I don't want to see you get hurt."

"Thanks, Courtney but I'll be fine. I'm not giving up yet." Ed stated.

"Brave words of a dead man." Will joked only for Ed to give him the stink eye. Will's pocket buzzed and he checked his phone to see it was a text from his dad. It read, I picked up your car from Pat's garage so we can work on it at the DEO desert base. Come straight here after school. We have another lead on the Forever Knights. He texted back that he'd be there the second school was over and with some help from XLR8, he did just that.

A whoosh of air and speeding blur raced through National City before heading out to the desert and entering the DEO base. He rushed down the hall where he saw Director Henshaw, Max and some agents waiting around the operations computers. "I got here as fast as I could. Dad said we had something on the Forever Knights?" He asked.

"That we do. Ever since their kidnapping of the Krolotean and the data we managed to recover from their castle, we've been keeping an eye on any suspected activity of their organization. It's been quiet, so far but we've got something. A few hours ago, oil diggers in Texas discovered something when one of their rigs collapsed into a sinkhole that suddenly appeared." Director Henshaw explained as the monitors brought up cellphone and security camera footage of the incident.

It showed the employees of an oil company drilling holes to retrieve oil when the ground beneath one of their digs began to destabilize when the drill hit something. A sinkhole quickly formed that swallowed the oil well but luckily no one was killed or injured. Soon after the oil well fell into the sinkhole, a torrent of fire erupted like a volcano but that's when things got weird. The fire seemed to form the shape of some kind humanoid figure but its face was like a monster or demon. Said fire shape soon died and withered away to drop some kind of green mask on the ground.

"A mask?" Will was confused.

"We extrapolated a 3-D image of the mask from the video footage and managed to make a 3-D printed model." Henshaw said as Max handed Will a model of the mask out of white 3-D printed plastic. It had two ornamental horn-like ears and the face seemed to be based off a man but also looked similar to the fire demon that sprouted up from the ground. "We're running it through the database for a match but so far nothing."

"I don't know why, but its looks familiar." Will muttered.

"You've seen this before? Where? In the Omnitrix?" Henshaw wondered.

"No, it was back in Midvale. Uh…" He paced around as he tried to remember where he saw it from. It was on the tip of his tongue. "I know it was in Midvale. From school. God, it's on the tip of my tongue."

Henshaw and Max looked at each other in amusement as they watched Will pace around. "He's done this before. Whenever he can't remember something, Will resorts to pacing around." Max explained. "You should have seen him when he lost his phone. That was something."

"Hang on, I'm almost there." Will told them, grabbing his forehead as he tried to remember anything that would help. "Uh…it was back in Midvale. Uh…it was in school…it was…TV…TV…it was a documentary!"

It Will like a thunderbolt and he remembered. "A documentary?" Max asked.

"It was in my history class the month we were doing on the Mayan civilization. This mask is an artifact." He told them as one of the technicians narrowed their search pattern with the information Will remembered.

"I think I got it." The technician brought blown-up images of museum exhibits and archival footage of drawings that resembled the mask.

"That's it. What are we dealing with?" Henshaw wondered.

"If this is the mask that was found, it's the Mask of Ah Puch crafted in the image of the Mayan God of Death and guardian of the underworld. According to Mayan Legend, Ah Puch was defeated in a battle with the other Mayan gods to protect mankind from his wrath. As his penance, Ah Puch was tasked to guard the most powerful and destructive weapon ever created. The sword of Ek Chuaj, crafted for the Mayan God of War. It was rumored to be powerful enough to level cities with one swipe and control the destiny of mankind." The technician managed to decipher with the computer translating all the ancient Mayan texts.

"Why can't there ever be the god of peace, plenty, and unlimited milkshakes?" Will pointed out.

"A mask was made to act as a key and guide to the sword, the Mask of Ah Puch and it was protected for centuries before being lost. Scholars have long debating if the artifact actually exists." The technician finished.

"Ok, so we've got a freak mask carved in the image of the Mayan God of Death that's the key to an immensely destructive weapon. How do the Forever Knights figure in?" Will wondered so the technician brought up some data with a list of front companies, business tie-ins, property deeds and a list of people. "Is that the data we recovered from the Forever Knight's mansion?"

"Is it and we managed to get a name for the Forever King as you so colorfully named him." Henshaw said as the technician brought up the King's image which was just of him in his armor and that creepy gold mask. "This is the leader of the group we encountered when we recovered the Krolotean. He name is Enoch and despite your moniker of Forever King, he's not the leader of this faction. He reports to someone else but we still don't know who. What we do know is that they collect and stockpile alien technology on the black market to achieve power."

"For their ultimate goal of taking over the world and remaking it in their own image. Typical bad guy stuff. And the legendary sword of the Mayan God of War that can purportedly control the destiny of mankind would be something they would want." Will surmised. The technician brought up surveillance footage of the Houston Museum of Natural Science in Texas where the mask was taken after its fiery discovery. There was a small press conference for the recent discovery of the mask and the museum's experts were analyzing it. The usual PR bloating to drum up popularity for the museum. In the crowd of reporters, cameramen, and civilian bystanders the video footage stopped on one man dressed in a black and grey business suit. Facial recognition matched him to someone from the Forever Knight's database as Randall Evans, one of their members. "And there's the connection. They're after the mask."

"Despite the advocacy groups for the Mayan descendants and the other federal organization, the DEO has purview and jurisdiction. I've already informed the museum to safeguard it for transport but we can't wait, not with the Forever Knights looking to take it." Director Henshaw said and Will nodded. "Mr. Detmer, you'll go with Agent Donavan and a squad of agents to the museum and recover the mask and bring it back here under lock and key."

"We're on our way." He and the others quickly headed to the hangar to get on the DEO VTOL and get to Texas as soon as possible.

Houston Museum of Natural Science, Texas

After quick flight from California to Texas which took fifteens thanks to the enhanced DEO VTOL, the DEO squad and Will took the DEO SUV to the museum after arriving at a nearby airstrip. They were still in contact and getting information from the DEO base in case they needed help or something came up. After driving through the city to the museum, Will and the squad arrived at the loading dock where they were supposed to be met by the museum security guards and head researcher but there was no one around.

"This is the place, right?" Will wondered.

"It is." Agent Donavan secured his pistol in his jacket holster before getting out of the car with his four squad members. They were on guard as they checked around the loading area and didn't seem to see anybody at the guard station. Many of them put their hands on their pistols when they saw a security guard rush over, fumbling with his shirt and pants before putting on his hat.

"Sorry for the delay. Can I help you?" The guard asked.

"Yeah, Agent Donavan with the DEO. We called ahead." Donavan told him while showing his badge.

"I'm sorry but I wasn't made aware of any kind of call. Do you mind waiting for a second while I call my supervisor?" The guard asked only to get hit in the neck by a dart before passing out. The agents looked and saw Will had used a dart gun.

"What did you do?" Donavan asked only for Will to hold up the Proto-box to show the museum's list of security staff and he wasn't one of them. "Oh."

"Yeah. Looks like the Forever Knights are already here. We need to hurry." Will tapped his buckle twice and donned his armor.

In the lowest, most secure floor beneath the museum where their archives and storage areas were located the Forever Knights led by Enoch were on their way to recover the Mask of Ah Puch. The cameras were fed on a loop and any guards they encountered were knocked out as Enoch led them to his ultimate prize to bend the world to his will. They arrived at the large, secured doors to the special archives but despite the state-of-the-art museum security, one of the Forever Knights was able to use their tech to get through and disable the security countermeasures like security beams.

With the security measures deactivated, they entered the special archives where the museum kept special artifacts, art pieces, or other items that were valuable and risky to keep in display. These usually were pieces that had a substantial monetary value and insurance policies that made them likely targets for theft. Despite the monetary value of the items in the room, Enoch and the Forever Knights just passed them to the large safe at the other end of the room. A Forever Knight unsheathed his energy sword and carved out a hole over the handle and dial. With the handle and dial gone along with the lock, the safe was easily opened and inside the vault was the Mask of Ah Puch.

"There she is." Enoch grabbed the mask and held it up to the light to marvel at its beauty. The key to the most powerful weapon in history was literally in his hands. "Soon, the sword will be mine and the world will tremble beneath the might of the Forever Knights."

Enoch's celebration was cut short as the mask was yanked out of his hands by a grapple claw attached to a cable. Enoch and his knights looked and saw a black, blue, silver, and green colored skull-masked armored figure with the Omnitrix on its wrist. He caught the mask and the cable retracted into the launcher in his left forearm.

"Sorry, but that doesn't belong to you." Will said, his armor disguising his voice.

"Everything will belong to me once I have the weapon." Enoch stated when he noticed the Omnitrix on the masked man's wrist. "Ah, it would appear the shapeshifter has gotten himself some armor. I'll never forget the symbol responsible for robbing the Forever Knights of a castle."

"Whatever happened you brought upon yourselves." Will told him. "You have no idea what you're dealing with."

"My, aren't you the feisty sewer rat. I'd love to chat but I'm late for holding the world at my mercy. But after, I'll set aside some time to watch my doctors painfully remove that device from your wrist. So, I'll be taking that mask now."

"Over my dead body."

"Excellent suggestion. Gentlemen." Enoch ordered as his group of six Forever Knights unsheathed their energy swords.

Will put the mask on his back and rushed to the large security door, closing it so Enoch and his men were locked in the vault but energy swords began to cut a way out. He rushed down the hall where Donavan and the others were waiting and handed him the mask. "Here. I'll hold off Enoch and the Knights. I'll catch up."

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Donavan asked when they heard a loud crash and two Forever Knights rushed around the corner at them.

"I'm sure. Go!"

Donavan and the others rushed back to the loading dock while Will stayed behind to deal with the Forever Knights. He activated his shield and blocked the energy sword before grabbing the knight and throwing him into the wall. The second Forever Knight tried to stab Will from behind but it was blocked by the shield. The knight tried to force his sword through the shield as an energy sword would normally pierce through stone but the shield was fine without any kind of singe or dent. Will angled his shield so the sword skimmed up and then spun into a low leg sweep, knocking the knight onto his back, and then kicking him in the stomach. The knight slid on the floor into the wall as Will quickly ducked to avoid a slash to the head before backing up to avoid a slash to the stomach.

Enoch and the other four Forever Knights saw the armored figure fighting the knights but the mask was not on his person. "The DEO must be here. You two, stop him. The rest with me." Enoch and two Forever Knights rushed down another hallway while the other two knights ran to join their comrades.

Will punched the knight in the face, disarmed him of his sword and then shield bashed him in the chest which sent him into the wall. Seeing two more Forever Knights charging at him, he threw his shield at them. It hit one of the knights in the face and sent him on his back where it ricocheted, bounced off the wall and then hit the second knight in the back causing him to stumble forward. The knight was then taken out by a fist to the face curtesy of a Superman-punch from Will. And he looked damn good doing it.

Donavan and the DEO agents rushed up the flight of three stairs back to the ground floor to get to the loading dock. The second they exited the stairwell something snagged the mask and yanked it out of Donavan's hand and like Will did, Enoch used his own grappling claw to take the mask back.

"Your loss is my gain." Enoch boasted while his men tossed down flashbang and smoke grenades.

After the coughing fits and ear ringing was over, they saw Enoch and his men were gone. "Get to the car!"

They rushed to the loading dock and got into the DEO SUV when they saw a black and red Rolls Royce with the Forever Knights logo on the grill drive away in a hurry. Donavan buckled in and hit the accelerator to chase after the van. They had to get the mask back from the Forever Knights. Donavan pressed a button on the dashboard, bringing up the map of the city with real-time traffic updates so they wouldn't lose Enoch or get any surprises. Enoch must have seen them because the Rolls Royce began to speed up and so began a high-speed chase through the city of Houston.

The dashboard on the car beeped, indicating they were getting a call so an agent pressed it. "Donavan, everything ok?" Will asked.

"Not really. Enoch has the mask. He's trying to escape but we're on his tail. Our locator beacon is on." Donavan told him.

"Roger that. I'm on my way."

The Rolls Royce and SUV kept up their high speed chase through the city, avoiding cars and trucks along with running every single red light they came across. Donavan managed to avoid two Toyota Corollas and a minivan and was starting to catch up. "Tag it."

An agent loaded a tracking round into his pistol and leaned out the window to aim. A few seconds later, he managed to hit it on the back bumper. "Tracking dart launched."

Donavan pressed some buttons on the dashboard and the signal from the tracker was clear. "Tracking signal clear." He said when they saw some green lights flashing from the car's windows. "What the hell is going on in there?"

The trunk of the Rolls Royce opened up to reveal a Forever Knight in the gunner chair for a modified XM214 Microgun which was basically a scaled-down smaller and lighter variant of the M134 minigun that fired 5.56x45mm bullets.

"Oh shit." An agent muttered when they heard a thud on the roof.

The barrels of the Microgun spun up and spat out bullets quickly that would have torn up the SUV but Will arrived just in time. He quickly activated his shield, using more nanites to make it larger so it covered the entire front of the car. It blocked and deflected all the bullets, keeping him and the others safe. The Forever Knight kept firing but none of the bullets were able to penetrate as they sped down the street so other cars and pedestrians got an interesting sight. The driver of the Rolls Royce saw the armored figure appear on the front of the DEO SUV so he took a quick left turn at the next intersection to lose them.

"Damn." Will muttered, seeing them speed past the Forever Knights in the wrong direction.

"Plotting intercept course." Donavan told him as the GPS tracked the Forever Knight's car and plotted the best course to get to them. "Intercept in half a mile."

"Roger that. Get me close." Will said and Donavan nodded. The SUV made a left turn at the next red light, drifting through the intersection and nearly hitting some cars but they managed to remain unscathed but their sudden turn did cause a bit of an accident. "Sorry!"

He moved onto the roof of the SUV and retracted his shield as the speed and wind made his hoodie flutter a bit but he looked and felt like a badass. It was honestly something out of an action movie and drew a lot of commotion and cameras from bystanders and pedestrians. His HUD was tapped into the same system the SUV used to track the Forever Knight's Rolls Royce and saw their plotted course to get them was going to be a busy city intersection.

Donavan and the agents saw it too and realized that there was a good chance of a car collision if they pursued. "I'm breaking the pursuit. We'll get them another way."

"No, keep going! I got an idea!" Will told him, moving over to the side as they closed in. The passing cars were going at 40 mph and he saw on the map that the Rolls Royce was going to turn on the intersection and they had a chance to get right alongside them.

"We're not gonna make it!" Donavan shouted, seeing the Rolls Royce make the turn but caused a lot of cars to crash into one another making a barricade.

"I got it! Turn!"

Donavan made a quick left as Will grabbed onto the roof of the car and pulled as he leaned down to the ground. Using his weight and strength, he pulled the SUV onto its left side wheels so it was essentially skiing on its side. His left hand dug into the ground to act as an anchor, digging through the pavement and creating sparks but it helped to pull the SUV onto its side wheels so it made the turn without crashing. Once the turn was complete, Will eased up on the pull and the SUV dropped back onto all four wheels while he spun onto the hood.

"YEAH!" The agents shouted in revelry watching Will work. It was like watching a superhero in a movie.

He leapt from the SUV and landed on the roof of the Rolls Royce, ignoring the bullets the Microgun hit him with as they just bounced off his armor. He punched through the roof and made a hole where he grabbed the mask right out of Enoch's hands.

"I'll take that. If I were you, I'd buckle up." Will remarked before moving onto the hood of the Rolls Royce. He gave the driver a mock salute before stomping on the hood with full force and leaping into the air. The force of his armor caused the front of the Rolls Royce to buckle and compress, causing the car to crash. He backflipped in the air and landed on the roof of the SUV so Donavan could drive them away.

"Showoff." Donavan remarked with a smirk as they left the area. Enoch and his men were unfortunate survivors of the crash and angry at the DEO and the shapeshifter for stopping them.

Will, Donavan and the others managed to make it back to the airstrip where they immediately began heading back to National City. Will was sitting in his seat with his mask and hood down, looking at the Mask of Ah Puch and all he could think was how weird it looked.

"Hard to believe this thing holds the key to the so-called greatest weapon of mankind." He remarked before turning it over. He held it by the handles on the sides and looked at the design on the interior of the mask when the eye slits began glowing green. "Whoa!"

His shout got everyone's attentions as they saw the mask glowing green and the eye slits projected a green hologram of an Ancient Mayan temple. Will reactivated his mask so it recorded everything just in time before the hologram disappeared.

"What was that?" An agent asked. "It looked like a temple."

Will turned the mask over and looked at the face of the Mayan god of death. "This is supposed to be some kind of key to the weapon, right? Maybe that temple is where it is."

"I saw a green glow like that inside Enoch's car during the chase." Donavan stated. "That means he saw the temple too."

"Then they know where to go. We need to beat them to that temple and get the sword." Will told them. Donavan nodded and the pilot handed him a headset which connected back to the DEO base.

"Director Henshaw, it's Donavan. We've secured the mask but there's been a complication." Donovan told him before Henshaw responded. "Uh huh. Here, he wants to talk to you."

Will looked at Donavan as he handed him the headset and put it on. "Hello?"

"Mr. Detmer, would you care to explain why I'm seeing breaking news footage of you in your armor in the middle of a high speed chase like you were in a Mission Impossible movie?" Henshaw asked, not really pleased with what he saw.

"At least I wasn't an alien." He pointed out. "Look, Director I'm sorry for that but we can deal with that later. We recovered the mask and found the location of the temple where the sword should be but Enoch knows where it is too. We need to get to it first before they catch up. My mask recorded the image of the temple so I'm sending it over to you."

"Roger that. We'll find it." Henshaw replied.

Central America

After getting the image of the temple, the DEO satellites scanned all their records for any match but got nothing which meant that this temple hasn't been discovered yet. So, using their satellites they would do a topographical scan for a match and since Mayan ruins were found in Mexico and Central America, that's where they prioritized their search. After half-an-hour, they managed to find a match in the middle of the Calakmul jungle just south of the Yucatan Peninsula. It sat right on the border between Mexico and Belize, in the middle of a dense jungle for centuries, undiscovered until now. When they found the location, Will and his team headed there straight away with backup right behind.

After about 30 minutes of flight time, they closed in on the temple or pyramid hidden in the jungle and managed to find a clearing to land in. Will walked out first and he was amazed at the Mayan pyramid. It was huge and despite centuries of time, it seemed to be in good shape and something that any archaeological team would dream to find.

"Wow…" Will took out his phone and snapped a few photos when Donavan and his team walked out with their gear and plasma rifles.

"Ok. Now we need to find a way in." Donavan said as they found the large stone doors of what looked like to be the entrance but it was sealed shut. And not just sealed but like vacuum sealed. They tried using a knife to dig into the door crease but it snapped off and blasting it with one of their plasma rifles did nothing but scorch the stone.

One agent took a pack of C4 and tried to blow a hole to get through but it did nothing. "How is this possible?"

"A part of me would like say magic." Will commented, looking over the temple with his helmet running through various vision modes. Not even the backscatter mode was able to give him a view inside the temple.

"You can't be serious about that." Donavan joked only for Will to retract his mask.

"We're here at an ancient Mayan pyramid with a mask that projected a hologram to find the sword of the Mayan God of War. If this doesn't involve magic then I don't know what does." He pointed out and pretty much everyone had to concede that.

"Or it could just be advance alien technology disguised as magic?" Donavan suggested.

"So, you're thinking that the ancient Mayans managed to figure out how to craft and use advance alien technology to build a weapon of mass destruction and lock it behind an equally advanced pyramid with a high-tech mask as a key when the most advance scientific minds of that era would have been amazed that the world wasn't flat?" Will stated.

Donavan tried to figure out a response but there really wasn't one. "Fair enough."

"Anyway, it has to be magic. I'm not able to get anything on the pyramid. My helmet can't even scan through it." Will told everyone. That left them with the issue of getting into the Pyramid and wondering if they were even at the right one.

Donavan walked back into the VTOL to grab the mask from the lock box. "This thing is the supposed to key so maybe it's supposed to open the temple." He held the mask towards the temple expecting some kind of Indian Jones miracle but nothing. "Huh."

"Try putting the mask on." Will suggested so Donavan did and the lenses on the mask made everything look green but it was actually some kind of filter. He looked around the pyramid and saw that one section of the east wall was highlighted. Donavan walked over and pressed the highlighted part of the wall which made the pyramid rumble before it slid open to reveal a secret entrance. "Now we're getting somewhere."

"Ok, keep it tight in there. Who knows what we could be walking into?" Donavan warned everyone as they made their trek into the pyramid.

"This pyramid is huge. How are we gonna find the sword?" An agent asked.

"Hang on." Will took out the Proto-box and activated the sub-sonic mapping mode which released sub-sonic waves that mapped out the surrounding terrain and when the waves bounced back, it created a 3D reference to use. It took a while but now that they were inside the pyramid, it managed to get a basic layout of the structure. "Here's something. There's a massive chamber all the way at the bottom of the pyramid. If the other ancient pyramids explorers, Indiana Jones, and Lara Croft have explored are any indication, ancient civilizations always kept their most important treasures in the largest chambers."

"Sounds like a good place to start looking." Donavan said when the hall began to get darker the further, they got from the opening. He and the other agents turned on their flashlights while Will grabbed an old torch off the wall and lit it, feeling like Indiana Jones. An agent led the way when Will grabbed his shoulder, stopping him. Will pointed down and they saw their pathway led them to an old destroyed bridge over a large endless hole.

"Thanks." The agent told him and Will pat him on the back in response. They saw the old wooden stairs and platforms that were likely the way down. But taking into consideration centuries of wood rot and termite damage it was risky. "Who wants to go first?"

How about option 2?" Will handed Donavan the Proto-box and activated the Omnitrix, turning into Diamondhead. The Petrosapien created a large crystal platform from his hands, big enough for everyone to fit. "All aboard."

The DEO agents climbed onto the crystal platform which Diamondhead then controlled and floated into the air before using it as a hover platform to take them down the hole. It was faster and much safer than taking those wood stairs. Donavan checked their location on the Proto-box and the second they reached the bottom of the large hole, he led them east where there was another set of stairs. Diamondhead touched the Omnitrix symbol and turned back to Will as he caught up with the others who were taking some non-wooden stairs which was a good sign. Despite them landing on the bottom floor of the pyramid, there was a set of stairs that still went down so they followed.

It took a while but they eventually arrived at a large ceremonial hallway that was actually a dead end. At the end of the dead end was a large stone chamber with a solid gold door in the shape of the mask.

"Whoa…that's solid gold." Will walked up to the door and touched it, seeing it was in good condition for being centuries old. That's when he noticed some old, withered sacks and clay pots near the chamber so he opened one and saw it was filled with gold coins. "Ok. Best mission ever."

"Will, over here!" Donavan called out to him so he walked over but not before stuffing his pockets with a few handfuls of the gold coins. Will walked over and saw a podium in front of the gold chamber and it had an indent on it that looked like it fit the mask.

"That looks like a keyhole if I've ever seen one." Will remarked so Donavan put the mask in the podium. At first, nothing seemed to happen until it began glowing green and got bright enough that it forced everyone to cover their eyes. The gold door split apart and opened to reveal the massive chamber the Proto-box found. It was large and had a smaller pyramid housed inside that looked like it had a large stone table at the top for ritual sacrifices. Instead of an old skeleton or a pile of human skulls, they saw a gold colored sword with a black snake handle. The blade was glowing and seemed to generate a yellow light like the sun. "There is it. I thought it'd be bigger."

"It's rather perfect for a king."

Will quickly activated his mask before turning around and aiming his forearm launcher at Enoch and his band of Forever Knights who were armed with energy swords, energy spears, and guns. Donavan and the others turned and aimed their rifles at them with the two groups in the middle of a standoff.

"I suppose I should thank you. Without you bringing the mask, we wouldn't have been able to get inside the pyramid and great chamber. Now, step aside and let me take what is mine. Do so, and I will be merciful and let your deaths be quick." Enoch warned them.

"Wow, you must really love hearing yourself talk." Will remarked. "It's not gonna happen, Enoch."

"Rather amusing but I'm finding your attitude less and less enjoyable. For your insolence, I promise you that the deaths of your loved ones won't be as pleasant as yours." Enoch said and Will did his best to hide his twitch of anger. "While your armor hides your identity now, it didn't at the castle."

"I know but I also know that the cameras never gave you a clear image of my face." Will pointed out.

"Very true but I have enough to find out who you are on my own. And everyone you ever cared about will pay for your deeds. Knights…" Enoch unsheathed his sword. "…Take them down!"

The knights charged forward when they all heard a loud rumble and then an inhuman like screech/roar. Something crashed down from the ceiling, kicking up a cloud of dust and debris that made everyone shield their faces. Once the dust settled, they saw what caused it. It was a huge, 20ft tall grey skinned monster. It was humanoid in the sense that it had two arms and two legs but its nails were sharpened like claws. It had gold bands around its wrists and ankles, rolled bandages around its arms and legs and was wearing a blue and gold Mayan tunic/battle dress. The one thing that showed it wasn't human was the face as it had red eyes and its grey skin took the shape of the mask used to get into the chamber.

"Knights, slay that beast and get the sword!" Enoch shouted as his men led the charge. The monster just let out another roar and swat a knight away like a ragdoll. The rest opened fired with their assault rifles but their bullets just bounced off the monsters skin. One of the Knights charged with his energy sword and slashed its side but it made a very shallow cut and only pissed it off as it grabbed the Knight by the head and squished it like a zit. Two Knights with energy spears charged at it together only to get knocked back by the monster using the dead knight as a club.

Will and the others moved back to the chamber entrance to watch Enoch and his men get their asses kicked by the monster. "Is it me or does that thing look familiar?" He asked everyone, watching the monster throw one of the knights into the wall.

"That thing looks exactly like the mask. You don't think that's actually the Mayan God of Death, do you?" An agent wondered.

"Whoever he is, he's probably here to protect the sword." Donavan stated, seeing one of the knights rush up the flight of stairs to get the sword only for the monster to pounce on him like a tiger and rip him apart. "It won't be long before that thing finishes with the Knights and then we're next."

Will activated the Omnitrix and spun through his selection before finding the one he wanted. "I'll keep that thing occupied. Get to the sword."

He slammed the dial down and began transforming, growing taller at about 6ft2 with a bigger chest and more defined musculature. Like he had hit the gym and lifted the heavy weight three times a day. He also aged up so he was likely in his late 20s with more defined facial features. His clothing was replaced with a unique kind of fabric that acted almost as a skin suit and covered him from his neck down to his new boots. The suit was black with silver highlights on the belt where the Omnitrix formed and a black cape flowed down his back. On his chest was the same symbol of the Omnitrix but it was crafted to look more like an insignia. This alien was his new Kryptonian form he aptly named Ultraman. (3)

The sudden flash of green light of the transformation attracted Ah Puch and the Knight's attention and they saw a man floating in the air with a cape fluttering behind him in a manner similar to Superman. The mystery man had his eyes closed as his facial expression seemed to indicate he was meditating or just doing some deep breathing exercises. Ultraman's eyes then opened and they were glowing red from heat vision which made him look menacing, like the devil hovering in the air.

"You've gone through the idiots with ease. Try me on for size." Ultraman taunted Ah Puch.

The Mayan God of Death simple leapt through the air to tackle him only for Ultraman to fly right at him and punch him in the face. The force of the punch created a shockwave and sent Ah Puch crashing back into the ceremonial pyramid but it quickly got back to its feet. It let out another roar before leaping into the air where Ultraman landed an uppercut that knocked him into the ceiling. It fell down where Ultraman punched it again, this time into the ground where it created an impact crater. He noticed that some of the Knights still standing were heading up the pyramid to get the sword so he clapped his hands together and made a shockwave that sent them flying back.

Ah Puch leapt out from his crater and tackled Ultraman to the ground where he two stumbled around before Ah Puch picked him up and slammed him into the wall. Ultraman brought his arms down on the one Ah Puch was using to hold him up, making the god let him go before delivering a vicious gut punch and then right cross to the face. Ah Puch recovered, slamming Ultraman into the wall again before picking him up and throwing him through it and back out to the hallway where he smashed through a few more walls and stone pillars. He shook his head to clear the impact he took as Ah Puch leapt at him like a snake so he picked up a stone pillar and swung it like a baseball bat. It hit Ah Puch but didn't seem to do much as the god just punched it to pieces and shoulder tackled him away. Ultraman recovered and punched Ah Puch in the face, causing it to stagger back momentarily before it lashed out its tongue and wrapped it around his left arm. Ah Puch then spun around and threw Ultraman into the ceiling.

Ultraman flew down at super speed, smashing Ah Puch back through the wall into the sword chamber and slammed him into the ground. Their scuffle carved out an impact trench as Ultraman managed to get on top and began throwing punch after punch to try and keep Ah Puch in the ground. Super punch after super punch produced shockwave after shockwave but Ah Puch kept getting back up. After the tenth punch, Ah Puch grabbed both his fists and headbutted him. It momentarily dazed him, allowing Ah Puch to tackled him into the wall and the ground where he began throwing out punch after punch just like Ultraman did to him.

Ultraman took the beating and despite his Kryptonian super endurance, durability and near invulnerability it still hurt. Clearly Ah Puch wasn't just a giant monster. After about the twentieth consecutive punch, Ah Puch grabbed his neck and began to strangle him so he threw out several punches to the side and face to get it to let go. In a fit of anger, his eyes glowed red and he unleashed a deadly and powerful beam of heat vision. It had enough heat and power to burn through Ah Puch's armor skin and send him crashing into the ceiling. As Ah Puch fell to the ground, Ultraman flew at him and with another punch sent him crashing into the ceremonial pyramid holding the sword. The impact caused the table and Sword of Ek Chuaj to fall down and tumble down the pyramid. Ah Puch started to lean out of his impact crater when Ultraman flew down straight at him feet first and spinning like a corkscrew which sent him into the ground with a loud boom.

Ultraman landed on the ground, his eyes still glowing red as he shook his head to try and alleviate the discomfort before the glowing went away. "Ugh, heat vision still hurts. I need to work on that." He said to himself when he saw Donavan and the others rush over to him. "Are you, all right?"

"We should be asking you that." Donavan said when he looked up and noticed the sword was gone. "Where's the sword?"

"At last! The Ultimate Weapon!" Enoch held the Sword of Ek Chuaj high into the sky like King Arthur raising Excalibur. "The world shall kneel before me!"

And like a glass plate shattering to break the mood, the blade crumbled away into pieces leaving Enoch with just the handle. "What just happened?" Donavan asked only for Ultraman to start laughing.

"Ha-Ha! It must suck to suck, Enoch. Guess you shouldn't place your faith in a mysterious weapon shrouded in myth and is over 5,000 years old. Your ultimate weapon is nothing more than a broken relic now." Ultraman told him as Enoch scrambled to try and gather the dust and pieces of the sword that scattered away like sand in the wind.

Before the DEO could savor their victory, the entire pyramid began to shake and rumble with an intensity that made them all very nervous. "Looks like that sword was booby trapped. Get us out of here!" Donavan told Ultraman who grabbed everyone and flew them out of the crumbling pyramid as fast as he could.

Like in an Indiana Jones movies, the pyramid crumbled to pieces and collapsed as Ultraman flew them up to the surface just in the nick of time. The entire pyramid crumbled and collapsed it on itself, falling into the ground and was nothing more than a pile of rubble in a large hole. Ultraman hovered down to the ground just as the Omnitrix timed out and he turned back to normal.

"Whew, that was close. I think I'll stick with the Indiana Jones ride at Universal. It's real and not panic inducing." Will commented. "Everyone all right?"

"Yeah, we're ok." Donavan told him, looking at crater in the ground filled with rubble that was once a pyramid. The sword of Ek Chuaj and the mask of Ah Puch were gone and Enoch and his Forever Knights likely joined them. He spared a glance over at Will who was looking over at the Forever Knight's helicopter and noticed he seemed a little conflicted. "You, ok?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." Will assured him. "Sort of. Is it weird that I feel bad for leaving Enoch and his men down in the temple?"

"No, it's normal." Donavan assured him. "You've done a lot to help us, Will. When you started coming around the DEO, training and then started going into the field…I'll be honest that we felt you shouldn't be out here."

"Yeah, I kind of got that feeling. I'm still in high school." Will stated.

"And some of us are easily twice your age with experience in the military or in combat. You're the odd one out but you've proven yourself to be resourceful, determined and dedicated to your training and I'll be the first to admit, a breath of fresh air." Donavan said and everyone agree. "Things at the DEO have been less…grim since you arrived. And with that watch on your wrist, you've helped us capture dangerous aliens and designed tech that makes our job easier and keeps us safer than we've ever been."

"Hell, if it weren't for you, we'd be stuck under that rubble too or been eaten by that monster." An agent pointed out.

"I just did what anyone would do." Will plainly told them.

"No, any other kid would use that watch for their own gains or for whatever they want. Your dad raised you right. You've got a good heart, kid." Donavan complimented him. "It's this part of the job that's the hardest. Grappling with the real danger and consequences of what we do. You should talk to your dad when we get back."

"Yeah." Will replied. Donavan pat him on the back and the group got back in their VTOL and left, radioing in to the DEO to inform them of what happened. The sword was destroyed and the Forever Knights were buried and done with. Only that last part wasn't right as Enoch and a few of his men survived with vengeance on their minds.

May 2008: National City, California

It had been a week since the mission involving the Forever Knights and the Ancient Mayan mask ended the way it did. Taking Donavan's advice, Will talked to his dad about what happened and as Donavan said, the real dangers and consequences of what they do. Max being a former Airforce pilot and DEO agent understood the life and death circumstances they dealt with and how that trauma could break even the best men down. Will going to talk to his dad about this was a big first step and while he was given a lot of helpful advice, wisdom, and some psychological evaluation, it was ultimately going to be up to him how he dealt with things moving forward. As Director Henshaw put it, their job is to protect mankind from alien and extra-normal threats both foreign and domestic. The DEO held itself with the utmost respect and responsibility in their position but they were a secret government organization with orders to protect themselves and others using violence and sometimes lethal violence if necessary. Will had been lucky so far to have been spared that but Henshaw told him that it was ultimately going to be up to him to decide how he handled himself in the field.

Would be he like Superman and be the clean-cut good guy and boy scout who practically walked on water and exuded high moral values? Or would he take a page out of Batman's book and be willing to be more dark and do things other might now?

Honestly, how about taking what he liked from both?

Anyway, that's for another time. At the moment, it was after school and Will was with his dad in the DEO base working on the car in the garage. With them being in the DEO base and not out in public at Pat's garage, they were able to get a lot done faster. At the moment, the entire frame of the car was fixed, cleaned, and looking like it was new. A new battery was installed along with a completely new leather interior and all the paneling they needed they had so it was looking good. The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS was in its default silver/grey factory color as Will hadn't painted it yet. He was going to wait until they put in the new drivetrain, clutch, manual shift, fluids and of course the new modified engine Grey Matter came up with. Besides with all the gold coins that Will borrowed from the Mayan ruin, they had enough to finance any upgrades. Granted, Director Henshaw did take half since his theatrics in Texas caused him a headache but they still have more than enough.

That's what they were working on at the moment. They cleaned and fixed the L35 V8 engine and were now working on the supercharger modifications that would make it a 1,000 horsepower 11,000rpm engine. And that's just the first upgrade to the car. Grey Matter designed even more engine and car upgrades to make the thing a beast but Max stopped him from turning it into a rocket on wheels. Just driving it through the city without breaking the sound barrier was good enough.

The engine was attached to an engine hoist stand so they could work on their modifications with ease. Max did most of the work and when one of the other agents or engineers wanted a break they'd come and help. The one thing Max wanted was Will by his side and helping him the entire time. If Will bought the car then he wanted him to know everything about it so he knew the blood, sweat, and tears it took to bring it back to life.

"All right, screw in that next one there." Max told Will and watched him use a socket wrench to tighten up a series of lug nuts on the engine. Both son and father were in undershirts with grease and oil on their bodies to show a few hours well spent working on a car.

"How did all of this become so easy for you?" Will wondered, wiping his forehead of sweat. This was complicated and there was no way he'd be able to do this by himself without any help, alien or not.

"Well, when you've done it enough times it starts to become second nature. And I specialized in engineering and repair in the Air Force as well." Max told him, working on the drive gear, driven impeller gear, and internal oil gear, and making sure they were aligned right. "I figured it'd make me a better pilot if I knew the limits and workings of the plane I was flying."

"Did it?" Will asked, tightening another bolt.

"It did. But then again, a lot of what makes a jet tick is becoming more and more digital. Still, it's a smart idea. The more you know about the inner working of a car or a jet the more you know of what it can do and what it can't." Max said in sage-like wisdom. "No one is gonna admit it but since I came to the DEO, every single helicopter and jet ran much smoother after I got done with them. Even more so now with the modifications you made to them."

"Sure." Will replied, drinking some water when their phones beeped. He wiped his hands with a rag to check and it was a DEO general alert to report in. "General alert?"

"Director Henshaw must have called a meeting." Max informed him so they got cleaned up, put on their shirts, and headed to the ops center where everyone was gathered. "Adam, what's going on?"

"Director Henshaw is giving a briefing."

Henshaw stepped up into the ops center so everyone was looking at him. "Listen up. We've got a Priority-Alpha level situation. We've got a metahuman transfer to National City." Henshaw nodded to a technician who brought up the image of a rather creepy looking bald man, likely in his late 30s if not his early 40s. The creepy part besides his face and eyes were the weird electrical nodes that seemed to be installed in his head. "Clifford Devoe or as the media and Daily Planet playfully dubbed him, the Thinker. Don't let his appearance deceive you, he's one of the most dangerous criminals in the world."

"What makes him so special?" An agent asked.

"It's those nodes on his head. They're what remain of his Thinking Cap." Will said causing everyone to look at him weird. "Superhero fanboy, remember? Devoe started out as a run of the mill scientist and professor until he created a device that boosted his intelligence called the Thinking Cap. It worked but it also turned him insane with a massive superiority complex and ego to match along with telekinetic abilities. He began leading criminals and essentially running crime syndicates in Keystone city, Gotham, Metropolis, and all over. He was one step ahead of the police, the FBI, and pretty much everyone who tried to stop him. Eventually, he was captured by Batman and Superman working together but the resulting clash caused an accident that fused the thinking cap with his skull. Isn't he supposed to be at Stryker's island?"

"He was but now he's being prosecuted for his long list of crimes all over the country. Some of which occurred in other cities so they've transferred him from city to city where his sentences pile up. Normally all his crimes would earn him the death penalty but his lawyers have pleaded the insanity defense and given his odd cranial additions, it works in his favor. National City is his last stop before being put in a maximum security prison in the middle of nowhere to spend the rest of his life. The FBI, Homeland Security and National City police are on high alert but given Devoe's status as a metahuman this is something we'll be monitoring as well. The DEO will be assisting in the prison transfer when it arrives at the National City marker checkpoint at 5:15am. This is not something to take lightly people. Get some rest and get your gear readied up."

The agents who were going to be on that prison transfer team groaned in annoyance at having to be up that early while everyone else got back to work. Will walked over to Director Henshaw who was talking to his technicians and team for the transfer. "Sir, are you gonna need me for this mission?"

"I'll let you know, Mr. Detmer. If all goes well this should be a simple prison transfer and things will go smoothly. Still, I'll let you know." Henshaw told him before leaving.

"Why'd they call him the Thinker?" Max asked his son.

"I don't know. Honestly, it sounds stupid but thinking cap and thinker sort of works." Will told him.

"All I think of when I hear the Thinker is the statue. Come on, let's get back to the car." Max said as he and Will got back to work and later that day, got some more training in before going home. Early the next morning, that's when things would not go so well for National City.

A modified prison bus was driving down Interstate 15 in California to National city with an escort of California State Troopers, members of the California Sheriffs Department and squads from the FBI and members of the DEO from the Metropolis division and an escort helicopter on overwatch. Inside the modified prison bus were obviously the driver and four corrections officers wearing Kevlar vests and armed with 12 gauge pump shotguns, AR-15s, and .40 caliber Glocks. They were watching over 8 men who were the enforcers of Clifford Devoe AKA the Thinker during his free reign. They enforced his rule and killed those who got in his way and were being charged with associated crimes. The eight enforcers were in orange jumpsuits and sat throughout the bus with handcuffs and chained to their seats. At the back of the bus was a special containment cell specially made by AmerTek Industries. It was a specialized carbine glass cell and chained to a seat inside was The Thinker himself in his orange prison jumpsuit. His arms were restrained, his legs locked to the chair and a specialized cerebral dampener developed by Kord Industries was placed on his head which neutralized the thinking cap and his telekinesis. The superhuman intelligence enhancement to his brain was still there but he had no people or powers to help. (4)

The prison escort was driving down the interstate with clear visibility and no other vehicles in the immediate area. All law enforcement officers were fed relevant information from dispatchers incase something happened. They were nearing National City where they would be met by another DEO escort to take Devoe to prison in the maximum security wing to await trial. Everything was going fine when their communications suddenly cut out which was a bad sign.

"High alert, eyes up. Our comms are down. Defensive perimeter." The Lead FBI agent ordered as their vehicles moves into a protective circle around the bus while the helicopter moved into a hover pattern above. "Chopper escort, do you see anything?"

The pilot and copilot looked around, using the helicopters spotlight and their night vision but didn't see anything. "Negative. No signs of activity out there." The pilot responded when a purple disk attached itself to the chopper's side and let out pulse which short circuited the helicopters electronics. "We've been hit. Electronics are fried! Command, come in, command we are under attack!"

The pilot and copilot tried to regain control and steady the chopper but their systems were fried which resulted in them crashing down in the middle of the highway. They were lucky the fuel tank didn't exploded but the crash itself was rough so both pilots were severely injured if not dead. Once the helicopter crashed, several more purple disks attached themselves to four police sedans which disabled their engines and made them swerve to a stop. That caused the entire transport to halt so the police, FBI and DEO agents got out and formed a protective perimeter around the bus and remaining cars as the people in the stopped ones quickly got out to get pile into the prison bus or other vehicles. That's when then quietness of the early morning empty highway was broken as the headlights of one armored SUV turned on and was heading straight for the convoy. Then the armored SUV moved to the left to reveal there was a second vehicle behind it and its lights turned on as the two drove side by side. Several men in dark clothing and balaclavas leaned out and opened fire on the convoy, killing a few officers and drawing their attention as the authorities fired back and took cover behind their cars.

With most of the officers attention drawn to the firefight up front and their attackers, an armored Jeep drove from the surrounding desert/grasslands and drifted to a stop where two more masked men got out followed by a third. He was tall about 6ft2 and wearing a black and dark yellow armored tactical suit with a pair of powerful .50 caliber custom-built multi-barrel handguns capable of firing a variety of bullets and small explosives along with grapple cables. Strapped to his back is a special assault rifle with a modified grenade launcher and a bandolier of specialized grenades with a purple tint. The most eye catching part of him was the mask which a blank dome except for bottom part which was bare and seemed skinned, leaving the teeth section free. Most likely to instill fear and unease in his assailants. This was Robert DuBois, former military special forces turned mercenary for hire. Famously know for trying to kill Superman with a Kryptonite bullet on orders from Lex Luthor. Granted, no one could prove it as DuBois kept shut and Lex made sure there was no evidence to point to him. He called himself Bloodsport. (5)

Bloodspot took out his special multi-barrel pistols and fired a barrage of bullets that killed several officers. Before the others could react to their surprise attack a badminton shuttlecock was hurled into the air where it exploded in a bright flash of light. With the officers momentarily blinded, several of them were taken out by crossbow bolts or throwing bolos while others were hit by baseballs before a javelin spear hit the ground and exploded. Said explosion took out several vehicles and knocked back the rest of the protective detail. The only authorities left in play were the driver and four corrections officers in the bus. They were on high alert and desperately trying to contact command but their radios were jammed. Even their cellphones were blocked. The driver reinforced the door as best he could when the reinforced bulletproof glass was taken out by heavy metal ball attached to a cord and handle. The metal ball bashed through the glass and hit the driver in the chest, likely breaking several bones and knocking him out. The same time that happened the bus doors were yanked off by chains and the guards were taken out by crossbow bolts.

In walked a woman of Vietnamese ethnicity, around mid-30s but in the shape of an Olympic athlete. She had a black paw mask over her left eye and it had a colored contact to make it opaque and her black hair was tied into a bun. She wore a spiked animal collar, a black combat top with yellow stripes like a tiger and had two guns holstered on her side. Two black bands were around her arms and she wore fingerless black combat gloves that had spare crossbow bolts wrapped around with animal fur on the cuffs. Her combat top was short enough that it exposed her stomach and she wore yellow shorts with black stripes, a black belt that held extra crossbow bolts, black boots, and a holster for her crossbow. This was Paula Nguyen, more well known as the assassin Tigress. (6)

After her in walked a large stature of a man that was a pretty clear indicator of his personality of arrogant, cocky, and blunt. He had a grey hockey mask over his face and Kevlar undershirts that resembled the type of athletic wear athletes wore under their unforms. He had modified armor over his Kevlar that resembled a slim downed version of a baseball catcher's chest guard with elbow pads on both arms but on his left arm he had on grey armored version of a hockey goalies arm padding but slimmed down so it was more armor like and not as bulky. Football style pants, boots, and a belt finished his ensemble along with the baseball bat and the heavy metal ball chain he used to break the window. This was Lawrence Larry Crock AKA the mercenary known as Sportsmaster. He and Tigress were a mercenary duo. Individually they were skilled but together they were deadly. (7)

"Deadly as always, babe." Sportsmaster said to Tigress who gave him a playful wink and air kiss.

Bloodsport then walked into the bus and grabbed the keys off a dead guard. "Let's get this over with."

He walked over and unlocked the special cell Devoe was in before removing the handcuffs and chains that kept him secured. And with one special key, the cerebral dampener on his head was deactivated and the Thinker was free. Devoe cracked his neck a bit before standing up and moving his body to relax his stiffened muscles.

"You're 23 seconds late, Mr. DuBois." Devoe said to him, rubbing his wrists from the chaffing and pain of the handcuffs.

"Had a little trouble with the couple. They took too long." Bloodsport answered.

"Ran low on supplies and it took a while to get ready. Still, no harm no foul and the job is done." Sportsmaster pointed out.

"Not yet, Mr. Crock. The job is just beginning. As I mentioned before in the correspondence, your first payment of a million dollars has been wired into the accounts of your choosing as will the remaining 9 million after the next part of the plan is complete." Devoe told him in a rather monotone manner with the undertone of superiority and self-assurance in his master plan and his massive ego as well.

"You sure have a lot of faith in your plan." Tigress pointed out.

"As would any genius. There isn't a variable I haven't considered, a decimal out of place, or a calculation I haven't devised that will ensure my success." Devoe stated with the utmost confidence in his plan. "Let us depart."

The rest of the prisoners on the bus were freed and they quickly got in their vehicles and left for National City. The Thinker was going to have his revenge and planned to use National City as the first component in his revenge against the people who thought themselves as his equals. And a warning to anyone who would attempt to take him down again.

Line Break xxxxx

Will started his morning as usual with his alarm clock waking him up at 6:50 am. School started at 8 so he woke up at this time to get ready, wash up, and eat breakfast. On the mornings when he worked out, he woke up at 6:30 for extra time but considering he had an extensive workout last night after working on the car he was ok for waking up later than normal. After shutting off the alarm, Will grabbed his phone off his nightstand and rubbed his eyes before getting out of bed and walked out of his room to go to the bathroom. He was wearing shorts and an old t-shirt as pajamas when he stepped out of his bedroom into the living room of his and his dad's condo, he saw his dad sitting on the couch watching the news.

"Dad, you ok?" He wondered, still a little asleep and needing a hot shower and coffee to wake up.

"Will, you should see this." Max turned up the volume as Will walked over and after blinking his eyes a few times he saw a breaking news story with a reporter team out on the highway outside of National city. Destroyed vehicles, bullet riddled cars, an empty prison bus and blood stains were being attended to by the National City Police, FBI, and various other agencies. News headline: Escaped Meta-human criminal at large.

The news shifted from the news desk back to the reporter in the field. "For our viewers just tuning in early this morning outside of National City on Interstate 15 where a Federal protected convoy escorting Clifford Devoe also known as the Thinker was ambushed by armed men and subsequently freed. Police and federal authorities are still trying to figure out what happened and the responsible parties for this carnage that left 22 dead and over 19 injured and in serious condition at National City Memorial hospital. When asked, the Mayor responded that he is working closely with the Governor and the FBI who are ramping up police presence and doing their best to ensure the safety of everyone in National City. Talks about possible martial law and lockdown are in the works as police have found CCTV footage of Clifford Devoe and his accomplices entering National City. For what, we have no idea? The police and FBI are urging everyone to stay in their homes, avoid contact with any suspicious individuals and to call the police if they see anything."

Hearing all that, Will knew that he and his dad would be busy. That's when both of them got the general alert for the DEO on their phones. "I think I just found a reason to not go to school today."

"Well, your school called and its closed until further notice to be safe. Get cleaned up." Max told him as they both got ready as fast as they could.

When they got into their Sedan, driving through National City was like driving through an occupied country. There were still cars out probably from commuters who needed to go to work but most of the sidewalks were empty. What was jarring was the police and federal presence the mayor wanted in the city. Checkpoints were set up, police officers walked around areas of interest with police dogs sniffing for clues and police helicopters along with federal ones hovered throughout the city. Max was able to use his government credentials to get through the checkpoints which allowed him and Will to arrive at the DEO desert base. Once they walked in, they joined the other agents who were busy doing their tasks. Director Henshaw had them getting ready for anything while the analysts were busy at their communications hub to track down Devoe.

Henshaw finished briefing an agent and sent him on his way when he saw Will and Max walk in. "What's the situation, sir?" Max asked.

"Dire. Three of our agents who were on the escort caravan are dead and the fourth is in critical condition at National City Memorial. The FBI are looking into a possible leak in how Devoe orchestrated this breakout and the Mayor is calling in the National Guard to lockdown the city and assist in the search." Henshaw told him.

"Do we have any leads on who helped him out? Any evidence?" Will wondered as they joined Henshaw by the computer hub.

"My team just got back from surveying the attack site but it's also FBI jurisdiction which makes this a legal nightmare. I can't risk exposing the DEO to try and control this investigation but we have photos and all the crime scene information their CSU teams found." Henshaw replied.

"All DEO vehicles have built-in sensors and cameras. Were they able to get anything?" Max asked and an analyst brought up the video recordings the DEO vehicles automatically sent over during the attack but a lot of it was corrupted. "That's not good."

"These attackers used specialized electronic interference bugs and EMPs to disrupt communications and all electronic radio signals. The video files were automatically sent to the DEO Blackbox but whatever signal they used interfered with the signal." Henshaw said. "These were experts and not run of the mill criminals."

"Hang on." Will took out the Proto-box and plugged it into the DEO computer system where it began analyzing the corrupted video files and repaired it as best it could while using a Quantum variant analysis to fill in the gaps. "It'll take the Proto-box a while but it should have something better to use in a little bit. While that works, I can head with the teams into the city to track down Devoe."

"That's not happening on my watch." Max told him.

"Dad, I could help them and the FBI track down Devoe faster. XLR8 can cover the city fifty times before the police can do it once. The sooner we find Devoe then the sooner things can go back to normal for the city." Will pointed out.

"Our job at the DEO is to protect the world from extranormal threats. I can't have a teenager with an alien shapeshifting device heading out into one of the most populated cities in the world for the media to see and risk exposing this organization every time a criminal shows up in this city." Henshaw added.

"Technically I'm not a DEO agent. I'm a special consultant and no one is gonna know I'm with the DEO or who I am. I made my armor for this very reason. And Devoe is on the DEO's metahuman list which means he falls under our prerogative." Will clarified. "I can do this without you risking a DEO team being seen or running into the FBI. It's why I've been training my ass off for the past six months and I know there's still a lot I need to learn but I've handled an evil emotion sucking clown, a rogue Megawatt, going to Black Gate prison and stopping Gotham City's rogues gallery from breaking out to find out who broke into the DEO archives, a time traveling entity at Los Soledad, all the alien criminals we've fought, the Mayan God of the Underworld and the Forever Knights twice. Director Henshaw, I can do this."

"And if you can't?" Henshaw asked.

"Then we're back to square one." He replied. "Director Henshaw, you know everything about Devoe from his file. He ran a complicated criminal network, evaded, and tricked the authorities for years and was a challenge for both Superman and Batman. The more time we give Devoe the more it'll hurt us."

Before Henshaw could respond, their computer systems got an alert. "Sir, we've got a hit off facial recognition." The analyst brought up the image that an ATM camera caught and it was a hood wearing Devoe walking down the street and entering an abandoned building in the city's industrial sector. "ATM camera caught him. 92% match. FBI are already mobilizing and National City police have begun setting up a perimeter."

"Have our satellites run a multi-spectrum overlay over that area and run a thermal scan." Henshaw ordered.

"Guess you won't have to head into the city to search for him. The FBI can take care of this." Max told his son only to get a look in response.

"I'm not sure if that was a dig at me or if you really believe that the FBI can take him down when Devoe had them running around in circles for years." Will replied causing Max to sigh.

"Will, I would never insult you like that. I'll admit that you've come a long way the past six months and you're better prepared for most situations then other teenagers but I'm your father. I'll never stop worrying about you. And don't you think that you're overestimating how dangerous this Devoe is? He's been in jail for the past two years with the authorities monitoring everything he's done ever since then. He's nothing more than a washed up criminal mastermind." Max stated.

"Emphasis on the word mastermind. Look, dad I get that you're looking out for me and I understand that. Believe me I do. But you're not going to be able to protect me forever especially with this…" Will held up the Omnitrix. "…on my wrist now. We've been lucky so far but it's not gonna be long for the other shoe to drop. I'll need to be ready to handle things myself."

"You're not even 18 yet. Just a few days ago we were talking about your junior prom and I was giving you the riot act to warn you against drinking or you and Courtney having unprotected sex." Max said out loud so anyone nearby could hear.

"Egh, dad!" Will got him to stop then and there but Director Henshaw, the analysts and a few passing agents were in earshot. Judging by the smirks they tried to hide and chuckles they found it amusing.

"Sorry."

"You know what? I'd prefer if we kept it strictly professional here at the DEO from now on." Will told his dad.

"Agreed." Henshaw added when their satellite scans came in just as the FBI tactical teams arrived on the scene at the warehouse.

"Bringing up thermal scans of the warehouse…" The analyst said when the feed they got was unhelpful. Instead of clear images of body signatures all they got was a glob of thermal heat. "Looks like there's some kind of thermal interference from heaters."

"Told you Devoe was smart." Will stated.

"Too bad for him we've gotten upgrades." Henshaw remarked.

"Activating multi-spectrum overlay…" the analyst put in a few commands and their satellites and scanners began adjusting to the influx of heat and clearing up a better visual feed. Once the excess thermal heat was filtered out, they saw several space heaters and heat lamps set up around the warehouse. The space heaters and heat lamps are generating the heat that's obscuring thermal scans. Along with the heaters, the scans showed 20 people scattered throughout the warehouse, the chemical signature of plastique explosives and the radio signature of a detonator.

"20 hostiles and a mound of plastique explosives and a detonator. Kind of an odd plan." Max commented when Will and Henshaw noticed one thing.

"Is it me or are those people not moving?" Will pointed out and to his credit none of the people on the scanners moved an inch.

"Director, FBI teams are preparing to move in at the north, south and east entrances with snipers set up for support." The analyst said when their system got an alert. It detected an incoming radio signature for the detonator. "The detonator's been armed."

"It's a trap." Henshaw stated before a momentarily flash of green caught their attention followed by a whoosh of air.

The FBI teams at the warehouse prepped their breaching charges on their assigned doors to infiltrate the warehouse and take down Devoe and his associates. The FBI's plan was shock and awe. Their mentality was to take down Devoe quickly before he had a chance to establish more allies and an escape plan. They were unfortunately underestimating their enemy and were going to walk into a trap. Devoe purposely let himself get seen by the ATM camera knowing it would lure the FBI to the warehouse. He had planned the trap they were about to walk in which would turn the warehouse, the FBI, and his hostages into ashes. Said hostages were people who worked at the National City courthouse and city hall and were gagged and tied up all around. All they could do was look helpless as the pile of plastique explosives and the timer that was ticking down.

25 seconds…

"Breach, breach!" The FBI teams shouted as their doors were blown open and they marched in tactical formation. Their rifles were covering their quadrants as they watched over their teammates and for any variables that may come into play. All they saw when they walked in were heat lamps, tied up hostages and enough explosives set up in the middle of the warehouse to turn the entire building into rubble. And the timer was down to 17 seconds.

"Get out!"

The FBI teams turned to run but there was no way they'd escape the blast.

15 seconds….

XLR8 sped into the warehouse at super speed that made everything look like it was in super slow motion. Kinecelerans were among the fastest alien species in the universe and with age got even faster. Granted, they had an accelerated aging process and short life span so it's not perfect. He looked around the warehouse through his visor and took note of the position of all the hostages, FBI teams, and explosives with about 14 seconds left on the bomb. Plenty of time.

He started with the hostages and sped them out of the warehouse in pairs of two, placing them down by FBI field command vehicle. Again, moving at super speed no one saw it was him and all their dash cameras or body cams caught was a speeding blur too fuzzy to make out if it caught anything at all.

7 seconds left…

Once the hostages were safely out of the way he got the FBI agents out of the warehouse and moved them back outside before focusing on the bomb. Finding it a bit of a risk to let this thing go off with the police and FBI so close, he picked up the bomb with two seconds left and ran it to the ocean.

2 seconds left…

He raced on top of the water in National City Harbor which was really cool and took it about a mile off the coast before dropping it and racing back. People who were working the waters and on nearby boats got a clean shot of a huge mushroom cloud of water going sky high and a muffled boom that sent out waves.

The police, FBI, and hostages were unsure what happened as second ago they were about to die and then they suddenly appeared safely outside the warehouse with the bomb having been moved off the coast and no one was injured. Many were quick to assume it was Superman as he was the only one who could move that fast. The news reported of the sudden change and were quick to assume it was Superman as well.

Back at the DEO, everyone watched the news and breathed a sigh of relief that no one was hurt and the bomb was taken care of. A second later there was a whoosh of air and they saw XLR8 appear in the base before he touched the Omnitrix and turned back into Will.

"There. No muss, no fuss, everyone's alive and well." He stated.

"You managed to evacuate the hostages, FBI, and move the bomb to the water in the span of half a minute. Looks like XLR8 has gotten faster." Henshaw commented.

"And you can check any and all cameras in the area…none of them managed to get a clear image of me or the Omnitrix. All they saw a blur if anything. And I'm sure Devoe was watching which means he's in the dark as to who could have stopped him. But we still need to find him." Will said.

"Well, he's had us chasing our own tails and set a trap for the FBI and police knowing they trigger it. They'd be dead if it weren't for you, Will." Max told him. "You can say I told you so."

"I'll save it for later." He replied when they heard a ding from the Proto-box attached to the computer bank. He walked over to check it and it was done cleaning up the footage. "It's done."

"Bringing up footage now." An analyst replied.

The row of monitors played back the security, body cams, and dash cameras footage from Devoe's breakout that was corrupted, damaged, or interfered with. The dash cameras were stationary but the body cams manage to prove some additional information. Everyone in the DEO watched as the helicopter crashed just after their comms went down. Then four of the vehicles swerved to a stop after electrical disks shorted out the batteries. With some of their vehicles disabled, they quickly established a perimeter and filed in to other cars or the prison bus when two SUVs came down the highway at them. Some of the body cams managed to show the outlines of people but they were wearing balaclavas so they couldn't be identified. That's when an armored jeep flanked the convoy and some of the camera footage managed to get a good image of one attacker in particular who was wearing a black and yellow armored suit with a creepy teeth mask and wielding special multi-barrel pistols.

Many of the DEO agents weren't sure who they were looking at but Director Henshaw did as did Will. "Who's the guy in the helmet?" An agent asked.

"Robert DuBois AKA Bloodsport. Mercenary for hire and the assassin most famously known for trying to kill Superman with a Kryptonite bullet." Will explained and many agents remember reading about that two years ago.

"He escaped Stryker's Island Penitentiary and has been selling his services to the highest bidder. Looks like Devoe wanted his special skills for his breakout. Continue the footage." Henshaw told his analyst which he did.

The footage kept playing as more body cams began to fizzle out indicating the order in which they were taken down by their attackers. At that point it was hard to get a clean image of their attackers due to the surprise attack and the attack from two sides but they did get images of someone in black and yellow followed up by what looked like a baseball and a javelin. One of the last images recorded was an agent on the ground who was looking at a woman dressed in black and yellow. They didn't see her face but her outfit was distinct and she was holding a crossbow. The footage ended when someone struck the agent and knocked him into a vehicle.

"That's it, sir. No clear images on the other attackers except for her but she never shows her face." The analyst brought up the back view of the woman.

"Run a predictive analysis and see if you can find a body match for her." Henshaw ordered when Will stepped forward.

"I think I know who that is. Bring up the DEO file on Tigress or Huntress." He said and the analyst did, bringing up any files with those key words and there was a file on an assassin known as Tigress. The photo was black and white when it was digitized but the analyst ran a quick comparative analysis on the two images and came back with a 85.6% match on body type. "Bring up all the evidence photos and CSU work done at the convoy attack and see if they found anything resembling sports equipment."

"Uh, Will? You're starting to get weird looks from everyone here." Max told him.

"Analysis and CSU work on the attack shows several titanium-tungsten weights disguised as baseballs at the scene." The analyst replied and Will immediately knew who at least two of the other attackers were.

"Two of the other attackers at the convoy are Tigress and Sportsmaster." He stated. "Tigress is an assassin who uses a crossbow and Sportsmaster is a mercenary who uses sports related items in his attacks. Both of them are highly skilled and always work together. They nearly took down Green Lantern two years ago but were put in jail. Guess they escaped."

The analyst brought up the DEO files on the two and based on what information they had he was most likely right. "Your hobby and obsession with superheroes and supervillains is starting to pay off. I'm never calling it childish again." Max assured his son.

"We have our new objectives. Track down Bloodsport, Tigress, and Sportsmaster and they led us to Devoe. We take them and him down before anything else happens." Director Henshaw ordered, unaware that the Thinker was already putting the next part of his plan into effect.

While the FBI, National City Police, mayor, city leadership, media and pretty much everyone of note were focused on the warehouse attempt that almost ended in an explosion and a lot of dead officers and agents, it left most of the city open and unguarded. That's exactly what Devoe wanted. He knew how the authorities would react and it was perfect for his plan…granted he wasn't expecting whatever to suddenly whisk the FBI to safety and remove his bomb from play. Still, his ploy worked how he wanted it to for his means.

At National City Memorial hospital, a school bus drove into the loading zone which was an odd site. At the security booth, the one guard who was on duty at this hour was happily flipping through a magazine while listening to a horse race on the radio when he saw the bus arrive. Probably thinking the driver got lost, he got out of the booth to talk to the driver and show him how to get to where he needed to go.

He walked over when he saw the driver get out of the bus. "Excuse me, sir. You can't park that here. Did you get lost?" The guard asked only for Tigress to grab him from behind and put him in a sleeper hold. After a short struggle, the guard was unconscious. Said driver of the bus was actually one of the mercenaries hired to help Devoe. They were here to pick up some hostages from the hospital ER.

Inside said ER, it was filled with doctors, nurses, patients, and family members with two guards posted by the main entrance. They were on the look for anything strange or some suspicious looking individuals when they heard a distinct thwack. It wasn't a car backfiring or a gun going off, more like someone hit something with a stick. That's when a hockey puck flew through the air and hit the ground by the entrance where it exploded with the force of a hand grenade. The two guards were caught in the blast radius and the concussive force knocked them back along with a few other bystanders.

The people inside the ER lobby scrambled for cover while they covered their ears from the loud alarm. Many of them thought it was terrorists but instead they were greeted to the sight of Sportsmaster walking inside the ER with his hockey stick slung on his shoulder and a squad of armed mercenaries as his backup.

"How's everyone doing today? Bet you this isn't covered in your health insurance." Sportsmaster held up his hockey stick and pointed it around the room. "Now all of you get up and get into the bus. If any of you try to fight or run away then you get hurt badly. Lucky for you we're already at a hospital. Move!"

While Tigress and Sportsmaster were taking some hostages Bloodsport had snuck into city hall and tapped into their encrypted digital network using a special key coder that Devoe made. It let him remote access their systems once it was installed. He then did the same at the National City Police station, the city's electrical and power grid, and then several of the city's high profile banks and financial institutions. And he was able to do this with the National City police and FBI otherwise occupied. Just like Devoe planned. And if the city forgot they would soon remember just how devious and deadly the Thinker can be.

Line Break xxxxx

Several hours passed since the morning warehouse bomb debacle and while the authorities and mayor were assuring the people of the city that the Thinker and his associates would be caught, facts proved different. Word had now spread about the attack at the hospital that resulted in 40 people taken hostage by Sportsmaster and a squad of armed assailants. No word on any kinds of demands or any other sign of them. The Mayor and city leadership were driving themselves insane trying to find them and they weren't the only ones.

At the DEO base in the desert, analysts were going through every single frame of footage and piece of evidence for a clue while some agents were out in the field trying to dig up new leads. The Thinker was ten moves ahead so it was time they played catchup. Director Henshaw, several of his top ranking agents, Will and Max were situated around the planning table to go over everything that happened to try and figure out what Devoe was planning. Normally, including Will in something like was against DEO policy given his age and that he wasn't an agent but considering he saved the FBI agents from the bomb and seemed to know more about Devoe and his compatriots it was an unique situation.

"Any word on Sportsmaster or any of the hostages?" Henshaw asked and an agent shook his head no.

"No. CCTV camera footage went down all throughout the city during the time of the attack and the hospital cameras were fed on a loop. The bus they used was stolen two days ago and ditched downtown completely torched. No sign of physical evidence for us to use and no demands made so far."

"It can't be a coincidence that all this happened with the hostages in the warehouse." Another agent added.

"Because it's not. Devoe planned all of this." Henshaw surmised. "Everything including his breakout was planned down to the detail. He knew most if not all of the city's resources would be put on him the second he showed himself."

"He drew our attention away from what he was really doing. Evil super genius." Max muttered. "How the hell do we stop someone who's planned this out so meticulously?"

"By introducing a variable, he hasn't accounted for." Henshaw remarked when Will noticed he and the other agents were looking at him.

"What?" He asked. "I don't know what he's planning."

"You're the only one who seems to have a grasp on how dangerous he is and you're familiar with his new associates and their history. If anyone here has a chance of figuring out what he's planning, it's you Mr. Detmer." Henshaw told him.

Will looked at the table of evidence and mulled it over in his head, thinking over what Devoe did before Superman and Batman took him down. "Devoe started as a criminal mastermind. He ran various criminal organizations around the country and was even in the works of starting abroad before he was stopped. He's smart, calculating, and someone who was more than happy to rub it in the face of the police when they tried to catch him the first time. Every single time they set up a sting operation or full on takedown he was long gone and let them know that they weren't smart enough to catch him."

"So, he's ego-driven. Has to prove that he's the smartest person there is." An agent stated.

"Yes. It was never confirmed but a lot of people suspect that when he began making moves in Gotham, that's when Batman got on his trail. That along with his work in Metropolis put him on the radar of Superman but still…it was numerous failed attempts before they managed to corner him in Keystone city." Will added.

"How did they do that?" Max wondered.

"Uh…he was starting his new branch in Keystone city and the first thing he did was orchestrate a financial stranglehold against the city leadership. Targeting banks and things like that. Batman was there and managed to stop him before the put the entire city into chaos and Superman arrived soon after. They managed to track him down before he could leave but it wasn't easy. Devoe planted a bomb in a building as a distraction which Superman stopped and Batman managed to intercept him before he could make it to the airport. A huge battle and one blast of heat vision later, Devoe's Thinking Cap was fused to his head." Will finished explaining. "Whatever Devoe's planning…he's gonna want everyone to know they can't stop him."

[Sirens]

"That doesn't sound good." Max stated as they rushed over to the ops center where their satellites and sensors picked up unusual activity.

"What's going on?" Henshaw asked.

"Some kind of virus has uploaded into the National City mainframe and it's attacking everything. The entire city has lost power." An analyst told him. Everyone watched on the monitors as their readings all over the city, at the National City power plant and electrical grid were shutting down by some kind of external source. It had infiltrated the city's protected digital network and was wreaking havoc.

"How are our systems?" Henshaw asked, concerned if there was any issues with their power that could lead to the alien prisoners escaping.

"Our National City base is on backup power but containment cells are holding. We're isolated here so we're fine." The analysts told him. That's when all broadcast signals for the entire city were hijacked by the same signal that infiltrated the city's digital network. Every single TV in the city and the surrounding suburbs was taken over. "Someone's taken over all the broadcast signals in the city."

"It's Devoe." Will stated and to his word, all broadcasts began playing a video message. It was Devoe dressed up in a black three piece suit looking ever the entitled arrogant super genius. He was sitting in a very fancy chair that he was making levitate in a dark room lit only by one light source off screen. Next to him was a Newton's cradle hovering in the air.

"Greeting citizens of National City, I am Clifford Devoe. For those of a simpler mind, I'm the person the Daily Planet dubbed as the Thinker and the current architect of the misfortune that has befallen your city." Devoe announced as Will plugged the Proto-box into the DEO's computer so it could begin analyzing and tracking whatever signal Devoe was using. "Just like the lesser minds who attempted to trifle with a man far beyond their minds could fathom, judgement has been rendered against the people of this city. And the verdict…chaos. At this very moment, I control your city's power and electrical grid. With one push of a button, I can bring you to your knees. I am in control now and this is just the beginning. Let there be light."

The message cut out shortly after and the power returned to the city. Suffice to say that the city was in panic and the FBI were chasing their tails trying to find him.

"How the hell did Devoe do this?" Henshaw asked.

"He somehow got control of the city's protected network and uploaded a system wide virus giving him complete control whenever he wants it. The virus is gone for now." An analyst told him.

"With the Proto-box, we should be able to track down Devoe. He's accounted for the FBI but not for us and the upgrades we've made. Hopefully, we find him before the next part of his plan." Will hoped.

"All right, listen up!" Henshaw called out, getting everyone's attention. "Until further notice, we are on red alert. I want every analyst working on tracking down Devoe and the hostages. I want all field agents working leads and tracking down any sign of Devoe and his associates and I want every exit out of this city monitored 24/7. I want them in cuffs by tonight!"

"Yes, sir!"

Everyone got to work leaving Will unsure of what to do. His phone buzzed and it was his friends group text. There were messages from everyone asking how they were doing so he responded that he was fine. The others were as well but the city wasn't doing so well. With the entire city essentially held hostage, it was up to them to stop Devoe before things got worse. He went back to the planning table and looked over everything they knew about Devoe and with what they just learned. He began writing things down on a notepad to keep it all clear while using his phone to check the superhero websites and blogs on Devoe's previous criminal deals in other cities. Maybe something there would give him something to work with.

A few more hours passed since Devoe's message and the sun was starting to set. And they weren't any closer to figuring out what was going on then when they started. It was honestly aggravating. Will just sat there at the table going over his notepad of clues and nothing. Nothing to point to what Devoe had planned next. How Batman was the world's greatest detective is beyond him because this sucked.

That's when a cup of coffee was held in front of him. "Here. You could use a pick me up." Max told him.

"Thanks." Will took a sip of coffee and rubbed his forehead in exhaustion. "I don't know how Batman does this. Detective work is hard."

"Not at all how the websites, blogs, and tv shows make it out to be, huh?" Max wondered and Will shook his head no. "That's why I stick with flying. I don't think I've ever seen Director Henshaw push everyone so hard before."

"If I were him, I'd want Devoe captured too." He sipped his coffee while he fiddled with his pencil and looked at the notepad of clues he wrote down. "There's got to be something we're missing that can help us track him down."

"Will, he's a super genius and you're a 17 year old high school student." Max reminded him which made him slap his forehead.

"I'm such an idiot." He activated the Omnitrix and turned the dial until it stopped at Grey Matter. One flash of green light later and the small Galvan was standing on the table. "Why settle for the limits of human intelligence when Galvan minds are much better."

"Are you sure this will work?" Max wondered.

"Grey Matter is the smartest alien I have with an IQ that can't be measured by human standards. Devoe may be smarter now thanks to his Thinking Cap but his brain is still human. If anyone can figure out an exploit for us to use its Grey Matter." The small Galvan looked over all the evidence and information they had and jotted down some small calculations before jumping down from the table and heading over to the ops center. Several agents stepped out of the way when they saw Grey Matter who jumped up onto the computer console the Proto-box was plugged into and began doing something. As he was doing that, National City Broadcast signals were overridden once again as Devoe was broadcasting a new message.

"Greeting, everyone. No doubt your police, FBI, and city leadership are continuing to try and track me down but have nothing yet. It's rather amusing to watch lesser minds tangle with their betters. I'm speaking to you now for my demands." Devoe stated. "Electricity is not the only power in this city. Wealth is the ultimate power in this world and your leaders know that better than everyone. National City banks are next to go dark. Unless the city acquiesces to my demands all of your accounts will finally all be equal…at zero. My demands are simple. Revoke the warrant for my arrest and leave an amount of twenty million dollars at the Pruitt building under construction near the water. You have one hour."

"Twenty million dollars is a simple demand?" An agent asked as Grey Matter began messing with the Proto-box.

"Mr. Detmer?" Henshaw wondered.

"I'm working on it. The Proto-box is scooping up the trace IP packets and broadcast signals of the virus left behind when Devoe broadcasted. Normally, they wouldn't be enough to track down signals but I'll be able to work out a tracking algorithm that should be able to locate Devoe or at least where he's broadcasting from." Grey Matter explained.

"How long is this gonna take?" an agent asked when they saw a blueprint of National City appear on the screen. Various red dots began to show up all over the city but they usually were clustered in certain areas like heavy trafficked streets, corporate buildings, and industrial areas. "What is that?"

"The red dots represent all the high strength wireless towers, transmitters, and signal receivers throughout National City. Most of them are delegated to corporate buildings, banks, factories, or places of importance like city hall. I'm now overlaying the trace IP packet signals the virus left behind after Devoe's last broadcast." Grey Matter pressed a few more buttons and blue dots began to appear on the map of the city. Most if not all the dots lined up with places where there were high strength wireless transmitters throughout the city.

"That's how Devoe was able to highjack everything in the city." Max surmised.

"Not exactly. To have complete control like this, Devoe is most likely using digital key coders that were physically installed in certain locations in order to control them from wherever his base of operations is. He probably had one of his men do that while the rest of the city was focused on his bomb attempt. But with a little Global positioning mathematical arithmetic, a dash of the inverse Fibonacci algorithm, the superposition and entanglement of wireless signals with Quantum computing and a little alien genius thrown in…" Grey Matter pressed one more button and the Proto-box and computers began running a complicated analysis, calculations, and algorithm that likely the best minds of the world would have trouble following. Various lines of data flashed on the screen before various colored lines began to connect the various wireless transmitters throughout the city and the spots where Devoe's broadcast and hack were traced to make a kind of pattern. After about a minute of calculation, three spots of interest in the city were highlighted. City Hall, The First Mutual Bank of National City, and the Pruitt building. "Narrowed it down to three. City Hall, First Mutual bank of National City and the Pruitt building where Devoe said to drop off the cash. These three places have the strongest signals of Devoe's hack. Either he's there at one of those places or there his next targets."

"All right, I want three field teams gear up to leave in five minutes. Team 1 is taking City Hall, team 2 is taking the bank and team 3 heads to the Pruitt building!" Henshaw ordered. Grey Matter jumped onto the computer console and began doing something.

"I'm setting all your scanners to pick up Devoe's broadcast and virus signal. It'll help you track down the source and find the key coders or him." Grey Matter said when another broadcast signal came on. "I didn't do that."

Devoe's fast appeared on screen and he wasn't amused. "It would appear that there is a good Samaritan in National City who dares to mess with his superior. A part of me finds it rather amusing while another finds it vexing."

"Devoe must have figured out what you were doing." Henshaw said to Grey Matter.

"I for one welcome a challenge from the humdrum and idiotic Neanderthals that have tried to best me so let's make it interesting." The camera turned to show CCTV footage of the Pruitt building that was under construction. While the camera footage wasn't great, it was able to show various people in doctor and patient garb being surrounded by people in masks with guns. "The hostages from the hospital currently reside with me at the Pruitt building under the guard of my associates. I have instructed them to start killing hostage in 23 minutes unless you stop me but that is only one part of the problem. When my associates left the hospital, they hid a bomb which will go off in 23 minutes as well. By my estimates you can either disable the bomb or save the hostages but you won't have time for both. Tick-tock, hero. I welcome your challenge."

The message cut off soon after that. "He is officially one crazy whack-a-doodle." Grey Matter remarked. "I'm gonna head to the hospital and find that bomb then head to the building to rescue the hostages. Director, keep those teams heading to the bank and City Hall. Devoe must have something else planned. I'll handle this."

Grey Matter touched the Omnitrix and turned into XLR8 who quickly super sped out of the base in a hurry. "Teams gear up! We leave now!" Henshaw ordered and the agents quickly gathered their gear.

XLR8 sped through the city at incredible speed and arrived at the hospital before the FBI bomb squads could arrive. He raced through the entire building through every single room before he eventually found the bomb in the basement. There were eight blocks of C4 strapped together with a fuse and a timer counting down with 21 minutes left. Normally this would be a sinch but it also had a motion scanner and the second it sensed a body signature nearby the countdown went from 21 minutes down to 5 second. "Oh, shit!"

XLR8 put the bomb into a trash bag and raced out of the hospital as fast as he could to the water. He raced off about a mile off the coast before dumping the bomb and racing back. He neared National City just as the Omnitrix began beeping red and he turned back to normal mid run so he crashed into the water. The bomb then went off and made a small mushroom cloud of water into the air but people were safe at least. Will spit some sea water out of his mouth and braced himself for the waves of water that the explosion kicked up. "Phew, that was close."

Will raised his Omnitrix and twisted the dial so the communicator was on. "Dad, can you hear me?"

"I can hear you, Will. Nicely done on getting rid of that bomb. Are you, all right?" Max asked.

"Yeah, but the Omnitrix time out. Good thing it happened over the water or I'd be eating pavement right now. I'm on my way to the Pruitt building right now. What about City hall and the bank?" Will asked.

"Director Henshaw and his team just left. They're on their way there now but Will you need to hurry. We've been monitoring the National City police radio and their gearing up SWAT to move in soon. If history is any indication, they could be walking into a trap." Max told him.

"I'm on it." Will tapped his belt buckle and his suit formed up around him even though he was in the water. Once the nanites formed up and kept him from getting wetter, it began warming up to dry him off which was nice. After he was suited up, he activated his jet boots and flew into the air.

It was night time now and Max was right as the National City Police and SWAT were staging a hostage rescue at the Pruitt building. The Mayor wanted those hostages saved and all of Devoe's associates taken care of. They set up snipers on the building opposite with spotters and several SWAT teams were moving into position for various breaches. One team was moved onto the roof of the building via helicopter and they would rappel down the side while another was taking the long way up the stairwell. A police helicopter was on the scene as well to provide overwatch and spotlight illumination with the news helicopters and news crews kept back.

The helicopter flew around some buildings with its spotlight shinning down on the street and nearby buildings to check for enemy snipers or backup coming. It passed the rooftop of another building that Will perched himself on as he surveyed the building that Devoe had the hostages. Thinking up a special disk configuration, his armor responded to his thoughts and the nanites in his forearm launcher got to work. Once they finished, he launched it onto the side of the building. The disk about the size of a silver dollar stuck to the surface it hit and subtly blinked red as it let out sub-sonic pulse that began mapping out the entire area.

"Dad, can you hear me?" Will called to the DEO base using his armor's communicator and it quickly connected to the encrypted frequency. Max was at the command center with the analysts and agents who weren't on the field teams.

"We hear you. Are you, all right?"

"Yeah, I'm ok. I'm at the Pruitt building. The police are here in full force. How much time do we have?" He asked.

"Devoe's deadline comes up in 17 minutes but something definitely doesn't feel right. It all seems way too easy." Max told him when their system began getting a digital sonar mapping of something. "Will, what did you send us?"

"Something I just came up with. You're seeing a sub-sonic sonar mapping images from the dart I put on the side of the building. It's mapping the entire building and everyone in it incase Devoe has a surprise waiting for me. I'm going in." Will announced as he walked over to the edge of the roof and figured out his best entrance. There was a group of hostages set up near the windows surrounded by five masked men with guns. A clear line of sight for the cops.

"You have an idea to get into the building without causing too much noise?" Max wondered as Will began configuring his armor for a slight change.

"I've got an idea. I'm taking a page out of Batman's book." Will stated. His armor began to tint and darken so he wasn't easily as seen in the dark. He held his arms out to his side and the nanites quickly formed a pair of glider wings underneath his arms like a wingsuit.

"What's that supposed to mean?" An agent asked as Will's HUD calculated the best method of entry. Taking a deep breath, he jumped from the roof and glided through the air towards the building. When he got close, he closed his arms together to pick up speed and tackled the two masked men on lookout.

"Show me the room." Will said.

"All right, the data is coming to your HUD." Max told him as it began to show 3D black and white imaging of the building he was in along with the position of everyone. "You've got bad guys and hostages on three floors with a SWAT team on the stairwell. Another SWAT team on the roof preparing to rappel down. The SWAT teams are preparing to take the shots and make their entry so you're about have some company."

That's when he heard some muffled grunting and whimpers. He took a good look around and noticed that the masked assailants were shaking and had their hands stuck to their guns but not on the triggers. He ripped the masks off the two men he took down and recognized them as two of the people the news reported being taken at the hospital by Sportsmaster. Their mouths were taped shut and they were terrified.

"The police are walking into a trap. The people with the masks are the hostages." Will reported back. His realization came just as the SWAT team by the stairwell blew their entry charge.

"Will, the SWAT snipers are about to shoot!" Max shouted.

"Don't move." Will told the two hostages who nodded before rushing over and firing three grapple cables from his wrist at the three masked hostages by the window and pulled. It caused them all to fall just in time to avoid getting hit by the snipers. "Stay down!"

"The SWAT team is coming in hot!" An analyst told him as he rushed over.

The SWAT team stacked up at the entrance they made with their breaching charge and took aim with their rifles. "National City SWAT! Put down your guns! On the ground, now!"

The two masked assailants shouted for help but their masks hid their faces and the tape muffled their voices. Their hands were glued to their guns so they couldn't signal. The three hostages who were really the mercenaries working for Devoe kept their backs to the police as they staggered around and acted like they were shocked while subtly reaching into their pockets and jackets for their guns.

"Civilians, get down! Clear the line of fire!"

"Drop your weapons!"

Will rushed over and fired a grapple cable at one of the SWAT officers and hit his gas grenade. He then grabbed the two masked hostages and jumped over the railing of a stairwell. The SWAT officer was pulled and ended up crashing into the three mercenaries while Will rappelled down three floors and crashed down into a group of fake hostages. He elbowed one in the gut and threw him through a support beam before uppercutting another and then giving him a push kick in the gut. One merc tried to shoot him but he knocked the gun into the air and kneed him in the gut twice before punching him across the face. Another merc unsheathed a knife and stabbed him in the back only for the blade to break against his armor and splinter into pieces. Will pushed the merc back and hit him with a jumping back kick before landing a roundhouse on another. The final merc unloaded his entire clip at Will but the bullets just bounced off his armor so he tried to punch him. Will grabbed his hand and threw him over his shoulder before knocking him out a final punch to the face.

The SWAT team that was rappelling from the roof blew open the windows and swung in, with their guns trained on the masked hostages and ready to pull the trigger.

"Freeze! Stand down or we will use lethal force!"

Will quickly rushed over to the nearest officer, grabbed his gun, and hit him in the face with it. He raised his arm to block a gun butt from behind and hit the second cop in the head before headbutting the first cop and throwing him into his friend. The two crashed into a support pillar.

"Sorry, but you'll understand after." Will told them, quickly disarming the third SWAT officer, and throwing him into the other two.

"Will, look up." Max told him and his HUD quickly changed back into the sonar view. "See the bad guys on the floor above? They're waiting to ambush the SWAT team coming up the elevator."

"Roger that." He loaded a new ammo pack into his launcher and fired six darts at nearby support pillars with timers counting down sixty seconds. The third SWAT officer pulled out his pistol only for Will to kick it out of his hand and then take him down with a double-leg takedown before wrapping up some of the rope around his waist. It was the rope they used to rappel down.

He blocked and disarmed the other officers and made sure the rope was secured around their bodies just as the SWAT team arrived on the floor above. "Uh oh. There's trouble on the floor above." Max told him as Will did a hip throw on the SWAT officer before ejecting the ammo pack from his launcher and loading a new one.

The SWAT teams trained their guns on the hostages and masked assailants, ready to take them down and giving Devoe's men the chance to move into position when the exploding darts went off. The support beams were destroyed and the explosion caused the ceiling to collapse so the SWAT officers fell down to the floor below. Will wrestled one of the SWAT officers around before firing six grapple cables at the six SWAT officers who fell down. The cables latched on to their belts and he quickly tied his ends of the cables to the officer he just grappled to the ground.

"Freeze!"

"Stop or we will shoot!"

"We will shoot you! Drop the officer!"

"Release the officer right now!"

"Let him go now! On your knees!"

The six SWAT officers had him dead to rights with all their guns trained on him. He was close to the edge of the building with the SWAT officer neck to him and a Police helicopter shinning a spotlight down on him. It looked like he was corner.

"Will, get out of there!" Max told him, worried he was done for.

Will just slowly raised his hands up, seemingly to comply with the officers only to gently kick the SWAT officer off the side of the building. He screamed in horror before the rope buckled to his waist stopped him. The other two officers who were with him were yanked one after another followed by the SWAT team that dropped down from the ceiling. All nine members of National City SWAT were dangling off the side of the building for the police and media to watch. (8)

"Ok. Not bad at all." A DEO agent commented as the news helicopter tried to move into position for a better view of this mystery assailant.

Will walked over to the edge and looked down at the SWAT officers dangling below. "Sorry for this but you'll understand in a second!"

He rushed over the elevator shaft that was still being built and fired a new grapple cable to pull him up about 8 floors. SWAT backup arrived on the scene and they quickly restrained the masked assailants but when they removed their masks, they saw it was the hostages. The armored assailant who showed up had tried to stop the police from accidently killing the hostages.

"Be advised. Hostages are the targets; masked assailants are the real hostages!" The SWAT Team leader reported and they began to free the real hostages while taking down the actual bad guys.

Will arrived up on the 38th floor where his suit had tracked a foreign wireless signal. He walked around but the only thing he saw other then the construction equipment and materials for the unfinished floor was a laptop on the ground. The only thing on its screen was a countdown that just reached zero as he walked over.

"Right on time. Just like he hoped you would be."

"We thought you'd never show up. Glad to know we were wrong."

He turned around and saw Sportsmaster and Tigress. They must have been waiting for him to arrive. Most likely Devoe hired them to stay here to handle the police. Sportsmaster walked forward a bit as he twirled his baseball bat in his hand and looked his opponent up and down. "I got to admit, it's a good think you should up. Fighting the police is so boring. But we saw you how move."

He gestured to his side where Will saw a row of monitors and camera feeds from the floors below. They had been watching him the entire time. "A little sluggish and you favor your right too much but not bad. Not entirely good but enough to keep this interesting." Tigress commented.

"So, I got to ask? What's with the mask? You a fan of Jack Skellington or something?" Sportsmaster wondered.

"Says the man dressed like Jason Vorhees and uses a baseball bat." Will remarked, his mask disguising his voice. That earned a chuckle from Sportsmaster who flipped his bat around before pointing it at him.

"Funny. Not too many costumed heroes have them. It'll make beating you to death all the better." Sportsmaster said. "You should have stayed out of our business, whoever you are. You'd have saved yourself a beating."

"Big talk, Vorhees." Will remarked, taking a deep breath to calm himself down. In a normal situation, he knew there was no way he could handle Sportsmaster or Tigress by himself but his armor would more than level the playing field in his favor. It already boosted his body's natural talent by a factor of ten and he set his HUD to analyze and predict their fighting patterns to tip the fight in his favor. "Let's see if you still feel the same when you're in jail."

Will charged at them full speed while Sportsmaster and Tigress held hands. "Game time, sweetie."

They charged at him with Sportsmaster leading before he slid on the ground so Tigress could jump off his back and leap in the air with a flying kick. Will just slid on his knees so she sailed above him before flipping over Sportsmaster who swung with his bat. He rolled from his flip and quickly leaned back to avoid another bat swing and then grabbed the bat before it hit him in the gut. Will then headbutted Sportsmaster in the mask and threw him to the side where he crashed into a pile of powdered cement bags while Tigress attacked him. He blocked and parried all her attacks with his HUD helping him by predicting her attacks. Tigress attacked with several jabs and strikes to his head and torso, showing signs of training in deadly martial arts like Silat, Kung Fu, and probably various disciplines in Ninjutsu or other deadly arts. The websites and reports on her being a skilled fighter weren't a lie as she was deadly and fierce. Luckily, Will's armor was able to protect him and while he didn't have nearly the same level of training she did, he stuck to what he knew. Keeping to his boxing and MMA training, he kept his hands close to his face and elbows and blocked or parried all her attacks.

Tigress flipped over him and put him in a chokehold which he quickly reversed out of. She threw out a spinning hook kick but he ducked low with a leg sweep causing her to spin to the ground. He quickly moved his head to the side to avoid a baseball that punched a hole through the wood frame of a wall under construction. Will looked and saw Sportsmaster back on his feet and holding juggling three baseballs in his free hand. "So, you've got some skill. It'll make this all the more interesting. I haven't had a good fight in a long time."

He threw the first baseball, kicked the second one and then hit the third one with his bat, sending them all straight at Will. He leaned to the side to avoid the first one, ducked the second and then grabbed the third before throwing it back. Sportsmaster hit the ball back at him and leapt into the air only for Will jump and drop kick him in the chest. Sportsmaster hit the ground with a thud as Will quickly did a kip up to avoid Tigress's sliding kick before he grabbed her punch and then threw her over his shoulder. She landed on her feet and did a leg sweep which he side flipped to avoid. He rolled over a pallet of wood boards which Tigress vaulted over to follow and the two continued to trade blows. She parried his punches and blocked his kicks before managing to spin around him to elbow him in the back and then punch him in the throat only to hold her hand in pain. He took his opportunity to headbutt her and push kick her into a table.

"Metal armor. Punching it is only going to hurt you." Will remarked before quickly ducking to avoid a bat swing to the back of the head and then backed up to avoid a swing to the gut. He blocked all of Sportsmaster bat swings using his arms and knees with his armor providing the necessary protection so he didn't feel a thing. He blocked a bat swing to the knee, kicked out Sportsmaster's right leg and double leg tackled him through the wooden beams of a wall into another part of the floor. Sportsmaster quickly got to his feet and managed to sweep Will's legs out from under him and bash him in the face with his bat so he skidded across the floor but he did a kip up back to his feet like it was nothing. Sportsmaster hit another baseball at him only for Will to raise his right arm and activate his shield so it bounced off. Will threw his shield as Sportsmaster raised his bat to block it only for the shield to break it in two and hit him in the chest. The impact knocked him on his ass and the shield bounced back into Will's arm. He quickly rolled to the side to avoid the bullets Tigress fired at him with her twin pistols before throwing his shield to the side. It ricocheted off the ground and then the ceiling before knocking her guns out of her hands. The shield bounced back to Will who caught it mid-air during a fly knee to Tigress that hit her in the chest and knocked her to the ground next to Sportsmaster.

Sportsmaster and Tigress quickly got back to their feet and saw their mystery vigilante standing across from them with his shield out. Sportsmaster and Tigress were the deadliest duo in the world and here they were getting knocked around by some new guy. Whoever he was, he had training and his armor was next generation level sophisticated that someone could only get from a state-of-the-art company like Wayne Enterprises, Luthorcorp, Amerktex Industries or Kord Enterprises.

Will tossed the shield up and caught it before putting it back on his arm. "Surrendering now is still an option."

"This just keeps getting more and more interesting." Tigress grinned before looking over at Sportsmaster and giving him a nod.

He pulled out his hockey stick spun it around while she pulled out pair of metal sai, Japanese melee weapons used for stabbing and blocking. Sportsmaster took out a puck and hit it towards Will while Tigress charged at him. Will blocked the puck with his shied but it stuck to it and the beeping indicated it was a bomb. He retracted his shield and tossed the explosive hockey puck to the side where it destroyed part of the floor under construction before he quickly rolled to the side to avoid Tigress's charge. Sportsmaster tried to shoulder check him only for Will to roll over and kick him in the back before parrying and blocking all of Tigress's sai attacks. She swiped with her left one which he blocked and tried to stab him with her right one only for Will to grab and trap her wrist. He wrestled her around a bit, even using her as a shield against Sportsmaster before kicking him back again. He managed to twist and manipulate her joints so she dropped her sai before throwing out two knees to her chest which she blocked. She managed to maneuver herself free and tried to hit him with her other sai but missed. That's when she dropped the sai and caught it with her other hand and stabbed him in the leg only for the sai to bend when it made contact. That left Tigress open to an elbow to the back of the head before he threw her over his hip and onto the ground.

He reared his fist back and punched only for Tigress to roll out of the way so he ended up making a hole in the ground. Tigress managed to kick him in the head before Sportsmaster grabbed him from behind and trapped his arms with his hockey stick so he couldn't move them. He kneed Will in the side and Tigress unsheathed a knife and slashed his torso only for her knife to deflect against his armor. Will drop kicked Tigress in the face before bringing his arms down and breaking the hockey stick into pieces. That allowed him to elbow Sportsmaster in the stomach and the sides before kicking out his right knee. Sportsmaster managed to block the knee to the face and grapple Will to the ground before getting into full mount position and punch him in the face repeatedly. Despite his armored helmet and the damage it did to his arm, Sportsmaster didn't stop his assault until Will managed to put him in a triangle choke. That left him open to multiple punches to the face and Will finished it off with a headbutt before kicking him across the room.

Will did a kip up back to his feet and activated his shield to block Tigress's crossbow bolts before sliding forward and throwing out a leg sweep which she managed to avoid. But Will spun on his knees and hit her in the head with a kneeling roundhouse kick that knocked her back. He side flipped over her and destroyed her crossbow with a shield bash before throwing her up into the ceiling. She hit the roof with a loud thud and when she fell to the ground, he hit her with a jumping spin hook kick. Tigress crashed through a wall and was down for the count but Will fired a mini-bolo to restrain her.

Sportsmaster saw what the masked vigilante did to Tigress and he was pissed. For that and for the face that this guy was showing him up like a rookie. That was something Sportsmaster's ego couldn't handle so he was going to make him pay. He took out a small metal rod from his back and unfolded it into a javelin before charging. Leaping off some cinderblocks, he drove his javelin down at the hero who blocked it with his shield. Sportsmaster used his momentum and rolled over to impale him in the back only for Will to move his shield at the last second, deflecting the javelin tip so it went into the floor. That allowed Sportsmaster to knee him in the head and then used the javelin like a vault pole to land a drop kick.

Will rolled from the impact and pushed off with his hands to land back on his feet where he quickly blocked all of Sportsmaster javelin strikes with his shield. He spun on his knees and rolled to the side so Sportsmaster missed before hitting him in the left leg with his shield and then the jaw with a rising knee strike. Sportsmaster stumbled back leaving him open to a grapple where Will put him in a clinch and began throwing multiple knees to his stomach and sternum. After the sixth knee, Sportsmaster began to block but then Will managed to leverage his wrists and twisted them so he dropped the javelin which he quickly kicked aside only for Sportsmaster to knee him in the stomach and then kick him onto his back. Will rolled from the impact and raised his shield to block the push kick that knocked him back and then quickly moved his legs to avoid Sportsmaster flip kick that would have hit him in the groin. It missed but just barely.

Will got back to his feet and blocked a roundhouse kick but got hit by a side kick before rolling under Sportsmaster to avoid a butterfly kick. Sportsmaster than charged with a leaping punch, a left straight, a left low kick, another left straight and a right low kick which Will blocked with his arms or shield before ducking under a roundhouse kick and shield bashing him across the floor. Sportsmaster got back to his feet and growled in anger before throwing out a jumping kick, a left side kick, a right side kick, another left sick kick, a roundhouse kick, a crescent kick, a side kick and then a knee that Will blocked before managed to parry his left straight and landing two knees to his stomach. He threw Sportsmaster to the ground where he quickly rolled into a backflip and landed on his feet.

Sportsmaster took a few deep breaths before calming down and just glaring daggers at him. He was going to make sure he was put in his place. "You'd think you'd do so well without that shield protecting you?" He wondered.

Will decided to indulge him so he retracted it into his arm and held his hands up in a boxing stance. "Let's find out."

Sportsmaster and Will squared up for a fist fight and neither of them were going to pull any punches. Will blocked Sportsmaster kick and threw out a right cross that was blocked before blocking a knee strike, ducking under a left swing, and throwing out two right elbows. The second elbow caused Sportsmaster to stumble back a bit because of the added force of the armor. Sportsmaster recovered and threw out low leg sweep which Will countered with an oblique kick, causing him to stagger so he followed that up with a front kick for distance and then a side flip kick right to the face. Sportsmaster was on the ground in pain with some blood dripping down from his mask as he shook his head and slowly got back to his feet. Will decided to end it here so he charged forward and tackled him across the floor, through a wall to take him to the ground and then knocked him out with one clean punch to the face.

"And you still lose." Will remarked before restraining him and removing his remaining weapons or any other items he had. He tied up Sportsmaster next to Tigress and was about to plug a flash drive into the monitors track the signal down when they all went blank and a message appeared that read It's not going to be that easy. Then they all short-circuited, rendering them useless. "Damn. Building is secure. Sportsmaster and Tigress are apprehended."

"Will, we've got a situation. Director Henshaw and the DEO team at the city deposit are under heavy fire. Bloodsport's attacking an armored convoy carrying cash into the city. They need backup." Max told him, seeing everything happen to the DEO team via their helmet cams.

"I'm on it." Will rushed over and jumped out of the building, deploying his glider wings, and activating his jet boots to fly to the DEO team. Just as he left, the DEO and SWAT team arrived on the floor and saw the aftermath of the battle along with Sportsmaster and Tigress. All the hostages had been freed and the men working with Sportsmaster and Tigress were already in custody making this a pretty good night except for the fact that the National City Police got attacked by the masked man who suddenly disappeared.

Unfortunately for Will, a news helicopter managed to get a good shot of him leaving which the news were quick to report.

Line Break xxxxx

A few minutes earlier…

Director Henshaw and his DEO assault team took their armored jeeps through the city, using their scanners to follow the signal of Devoe's key coders he was using for his signal broadcast. With most of the police presence at the Pruitt building on the other side of the city by the water front, they were likely going to be the only actual security presence there except for the local guards. Which was probably part of Devoe's plan and what he's done before. With the media and authorities focused on the hostages and the bomb, their attention wasn't on the rest of the city so Devoe and his associates could do whatever they needed to do which was likely robbing the city's biggest and largest bank.

When Henshaw and his squad of six armed DEO agents arrived at the bank, they found a substantial police and federal presence there along with one or two city officials and several armored trucks in the parking lot. They stopped and Director Henshaw was first out and was met by a uniformed police officer. "Restricted area and access, sir. I'm gonna have to ask you to leave."

"Director Hank Henshaw, DEO." Henshaw showed him his badge which the officer examined before handing it back.

"This way." The officer led him over to Federal agents with the US secret service and Homeland Security. "Sirs, Director Hank Henshaw."

"Henshaw, what are you doing here?" Agent Alvarez asked. He was Homeland security and knew Henshaw.

"We managed to track down the sources of the virus Devoe is using to hijack the city's broadcast signals and one of them leads to here." Henshaw showed them a tablet with the information to prove his point to those who didn't believe him.

"That's impossible. This is a secured building and our security system would have detected something." One of the city officials told him.

"Devoe has been known to do the impossible and we triple checked our results." Henshaw told him so Alvarez signaled one of his men over.

"I want the entire building evacuated, everyone accounted for and then I want teams doing a floor by floor sweep." He ordered and the agent nodded in response, organizing men immediately. While he did that, Henshaw called back into the DEO base.

"Base 1 this is Director Henshaw. Status update?" He radioed in.

"This is team 2. Still in route to City Hall."

"This is team 3. Maintaining position at Pruitt building."

"Don't worry about the Pruitt building and the hostages, Director. Will has it handled." Max radioed in from the DEO base. He and the other were watching everything happening and knew he had it under control. "How's the situation there?"

"I'll let you know." Henshaw replied when he noticed the armored trucks. "Why the federal presence and armored trucks?"

"Numerous city banks were hit with computer viruses so the mayor sent out a request to the treasury for an influx of money." The city treasurer told him.

"Cyber-attack policy." Henshaw stated and realized that was Devoe's plan. He was going to take the money. "That's Devoe's endgame. Take the money the city needs after his cyber attack while everyone else is focused on the hostages."

"But that's a ridiculous plan. The money is being transported here as we speak by armored cars that navigate according to a closed-end GPS system by a highly secured satellite. It directs them right here and any deviation shuts the cars down and activates the failsafe, destroying the money." The city treasurer explained when he saw a pair of headlights arrive. "And they're right on time."

Two armored trucks arrived from the treasury where they were met by the police and federal agents who checked the identification of both drivers and accompanied guards. They all were cleared and parked outside the bank where they checked in with the city treasurer who confirmed everything was right. He then allowed security guards to begin moving money into the other armored trucks in the parking lot.

"Something's not right here." Henshaw muttered.

"Maybe the data was wrong, sir or maybe Devoe cancelled his plans when we showed up?" An agent suggested when Henshaw noticed a momentary reflective glint that caught his eye. He used his assault rifles scope to get a better look and saw a masked man with an RPG standing on a fire escape.

"TAKE COVER! RPG!" Henshaw shouted as he and his team rushed for cover.

Several of the Secret Service and Homeland Security agents along with the city treasurer got behind an armored truck when the RPG was fired. It hit one of the federal SUVs, taking out the vehicle and any officers or agents nearby. Luckily, Henshaw and his team got behind the treasury armored van for cover. If Devoe's men were here for the money then they wouldn't risk blowing it up. Another RPG round was fired and it destroyed one of the police cruisers in the parking lot, effectively blocking any vehicle from escaping. The man on the fire escape loaded a third RPG round and aimed only for Henshaw to peak out and shoot him in the shoulder, causing him to recoil. The RPG veered off course and destroyed a light pole on the street.

Three armored Jeeps drove out from the nearby alleyways and side streets where men leaned out the windows and opened fire at them with assault rifles and light machine guns. That forced everyone to stay behind cover but they tried to peak out occasionally and fire back. The jeeps stopped and the 12 men inside got out to form a firing line to keep the feds pinned down when a box truck arrived on the street and backed up until it stopped next to the jeeps. The cargo door opened and out walked Bloodsport and three more men who fired at the police, feds, and DEO. With their numbers and surprise attack, it forced the survivors to move into the parking lot and take cover behind the armored cars in the parking lot.

Bloodsport saw the DEO team sticking around by the treasury truck so he took out special rifle and loaded a special M203 grenade round into the under-barrel launcher. Henshaw saw where Bloodsport was aiming so he tossed a flashbang.

"Move!" He ordered his men and they followed him. The flashbang concussed some of the mercenaries but not Bloodsport who fired the grenade round which was actually an electrical shockwave ordinance. It exploded like a grenade but released a shockwave and electrical surge equivalent to 500,000 volts which was more than enough to kill someone. Luckily, the modifications done to the DEO armor kept them safe from the electrical current and concussive force of the shockwave but they were still knocked back. They managed to get back to their feet and rush over to the armored cars for cover.

With everyone backed up in the parking lot and taking cover behind the various bank armored cars, it allowed Bloodsport and some men to go to the treasury armored vans and take the cash. The rest of the mercenaries kept the authorities and DEO back with heavy suppressive fire before launching gas grenades into the parking lot. The heavy gas caused a lot of coughing and essentially made the police and feds incapable of acting. Some were lucky to have gas masks nearby as precaution but not enough. Henshaw and his men masked up and tried to engage the hostiles but the suppressive fire was too heavy.

"This is Director Henshaw, we've located Bloodsport at our location and are under heavy fire. Total of fifteen armed men with heavy weapons. Requesting backup now." He radioed in.

"We're on it." Max assured him.

One of Henshaw's agents threw a containment grenade at the hostiles. The containment grenade was of course Stinkfly glue and it managed to ensnare four of them which allowed Henshaw and the others to move into better positions and fire back. Bloodsport saw the goo and quickly pulled out one of his multi-barrel handguns and loaded a special red magazine. He fired the red colored bullets which immediately melted and ate through the goo, freeing his men before he fired the remaining bullets at the DEO who hid behind cover which the bullets slowly ate through.

"Director, back up should be arriving any second now." Max told him and they heard the subtle sound of whooshing and the small roar of an engine like a plane was nearby. One of the mercenaries heard it too and looked up only to see an armored figure drop down from the sky with a shield in one hand. Said armored figure then slammed into him shield first and smashed him into the side of the jeep, knocking him out and definitely breaking several bones.

Will had arrived and in style. He raised his shield to block a barrage of bullets before push kicking the front of the jeep so it moved and knocked back two more mercs. A shield throw hit another three mercenaries in the face and ricocheted back to Will who caught it and charged forward. He landed a drop kick on a merc, sending him crashing into the others before sliding forward and leg sweeping several onto their backs. He grabbed one by the ankle and threw him into one of the treasury trucks before shield bashing another and taking him out with a spinning back kick. Bloodsport saw the new arrival quickly handle several of the men with ease so he slunk back and put on a special barrel attachment to his rifle while the men helping him move the money opened fire at the intruder. That didn't help as their bullets just bounced off and they ended up getting hit with the shield and knocked out.

Will uppercut another merc before shield bashing another in the side and kicking him away. He took out two more with a flying scissor kick and spun in the air, landing on his knee where he quickly threw his shield behind him. It ricocheted off the ground and the side of a jeep before hitting the merc in the side of the head, disorientating him. That left him open to a push kick that send him flying into a fire hydrant. He fired a taser disk at the last merc, stunning him which allowed him to end it with a push kick against the armored truck, taking his gun and gun butting him in the face before kneeing him in the crotch and throwing him over his shoulder to take him out with a final punch to the face.

Henshaw, the other DEO agents and by now the police and feds were able to peak out from cover to see the masked man that saved them. "Ok…so maybe he's ready for more than I thought." Henshaw admitted.

Will retracted his shield into his armor and looked around with his HUD scanning the area. "The packs taken care of so where's the Alpha?"

"Right here!" Bloodsport stepped out with his rifle which had a special attachment on the barrel. It was a special compensator that had four energy modules that were spinning so it looked like there was a turbine on the end of his gun. He fired three bullets in a row and the power module charged them so the normal 5.56 mm bullets had the same amount of energy as a .50 caliber bullet.

His HUD analyzed the danger of the attachment to the rifle and within nanoseconds calculated the risk before alerting Will and he acted accordingly. He rolled to the side and the bullets blew through one of the jeeps like it was cardboard. His armor would have stopped the bullets but the force would have hurt so it was a good thing he dodged. He kept moving as Bloodsport tried to land a shot but kept missing. Will took out his throwing star boomerang and threw it which quickly sliced through Bloodsport's gun. It flew back and Will caught it mid-flight as he landed a flying knee onto Bloodsport that knocked him into the armored truck holding the money. He landed a right cross while Bloodsport was rattled before he was parried and thrown to the ground.

Will quickly spun and kicked away one of Bloodsport's multi-barrel pistols that he tried to shoot him with and then blocked a roundhouse before landing a jab to his face. Bloodsport threw out several fast and furious punches that Will avoided before landing a left and right cross to the face. Bloodsport stumbled a bit but bounced back. "Come on!" Bloodsport threw out a right hook that Will blocked but got hit with a headbutt and then an uppercut that moved him back a bit. Will quickly dodged two straights and hit Bloodsport with several jabs to the side before he was pushed back and then thrown around against the side of the armored truck. "You picked the wrong time to play hero."

A blade shot out of Bloodsport's right hand which Will managed to parry so it impaled into the side of the truck next to his head. He grabbed his arm and forced Bloodsport's elbow up, breaking it before elbowing him in the side of the head and yanking the blade and his glove off. Will tossed it to the ground as Bloodsport unsheathed the one on the other hand and slashed twice but missed. He caught the third slash and punched his armpit, his chest, his side, and then his jaw before throwing out a spinning hook kick that send him flying into the parking lot.

Bloodsport's mask was cracked down the middle so the blood dripping down his face dropped onto the pavement. He tried to reach for the gun that was still holstered to his side when he was pushed back onto the ground and his arms were pulled behind his back. Henshaw and his agents were securing him and he would have fought back but he was exhausted not to mention seriously hurt. Henshaw looked around and saw Will was gone. He was glad that Will had the sense to not stick around for questions by the police and the feds who were currently restraining the mercenaries that aided in this attempted robbery. One of the agents removed Bloodsport's mask so Henshaw could see Robert DuBois with his own eyes. His nose was bleeding, he had a cut on the side of his head and likely a concussion not to mention black eyes and whatever damage was done.

"Where's Devoe, DuBois? Where is he?" Henshaw asked. DuBois just smirked before spitting out some blood.

"City hall but he's already gone." Dubois told him as he was carried away.

"Henshaw to team 2, we have confirmation that Devoe is at City Hall. Get the Mayor and City Councilmen out and secure the area." Henshaw ordered.

"We're too late, Director." He heard Max radio in. "The team arrived at City Hall and secured the building fives minutes ago. They found where Devoe was broadcasting from but he's gone."

"Dammit." Henshaw muttered as he took two men to city hall to see for himself. When they got there, the police were just beginning to arrive and began checking the building with media vans and crews setting up for live coverage. One of the men on team 2 met Director Henshaw and showed him down to the basement.

"When we got here, we tracked the signal to the key coders and followed it into basement. Turns out that the remnants of the old City Hall are under here and were built over when the new City Hall was commissioned after the 1927 earthquake destroyed half the city. The perfect place to hide." The agent explained as they arrived at a storage room at the west corner. There was a large hole in the ground with several electrical and digital cables heading down there.

Henshaw and his team went down there to see the other agents and Will going over everything. Despite being in the ruins of the old city hall, Devoe had set up a perfect headquarters and observation center for himself. There was a desk with a dozen monitors, laptops, along with a camera, and lights Devoe. All of which were powered by various power generators most likely smuggled down there along with the chair and Newton's cradle that Devoe had with him.

"How did he do this? Are you telling me that Devoe has been in City Hall this entire time under everyone's noses and no one knew a thing?" Henshaw asked out loud when Will walked over, still in his armor.

"We've gone over everything and found something with the list of employees here working at City Hall, mainly the janitorial staff." He handed him a tablet to show the ID photos of seven City Hall Janitorial employees. "These seven were hired two months ago under assumed names but they're really career criminals. They were part of the crew at the Pruitt building disguised as the hostages. Devoe had his planned months ago. The only reason he's not here is because we interrupted his plans."

"So, he's in the wind with an escape plan that he planned out while we thought he was in custody. I want every single moment of Devoe's time in captivity gone over with a fine tooth comb and an answer for how this happened." Henshaw ordered with his men getting to work. "Do you think we'll be able to get anything from the tech he left behind?"

"In the hands of the police or FBI, probably not but with us, definitely." Will replied when the monitors blinked out like they were turned off. That's when they began showing static until Devoe appeared on the monitors.

"Greetings, National City. It would appear that this city's good Samaritan did his job. The bomb is taken care of, the hostages are safe, my associates are in custody, and the money this city needs is secure. All in all, a rather bit of fun. And it was entertaining to see the police so inept at their job. So, you're safe for now. I have other matters to attend to but don't worry…I'll be back one day." Devoe promised before the screens cut out, leaving National City and everyone with his promise to return.

"Great. Hannibal Lecter want's a sequel." Will remarked.

"I always consider myself more of a Professor Moriarty." They heard as one of the monitors was still on. On said monitor was Devoe staring at them. "Perhaps I've given the DEO less credit than they deserve. After all, you've done far better than the other authorities tasked with trying to catch me and you're better equipped. I wonder how that came to be. Although the answer to that likely is the same as to the person who made the armor tonight's hero happens to be wearing."

Henshaw and everyone looked at Will who was just looking at Devoe on the monitor. Luckily, his armor was still on and he never removed his mask. Will's HUD did pick up a foreign signal trying to attempt entry into his armor's system but it was easily beaten back. "You can save yourself the trouble and stop trying to hack into my armor. It's only going to be an exercise of futility."

"You either overestimate your armor's engineering or your underestimate my intelligence." Devoe told him.

"Why can't it be both?" Will wondered, looking at the monitor and seeing the tiny camera at the top. "The Thinker as I live and breathe. Always with the plan. I'm curious…those nodes on your head…I bet they itch like crazy."

Devoe just sighed in exhaustion. "And here I was hoping that you'd be refine and mature so I would have a Sherlock Holmes yet I see you're using sarcasm and humor to fool people into thinking your smart."

"Humor is something people who haven't gone insane like to enjoy. Granted to you it must seem trivial but the considering your brain has grown smart enough to the point that you think you're a god on this planet then it'll make it all the sweeter when you're back in jail. I know I'm not smarter than you but that doesn't mean I won't be able to stop you like Holmes did to Moriarty. So how about you tell me where you are now and I promise bringing you in won't be as painful as it will be if I have to track you down." Will told him.

"And like other brutes you favor threats of violence to solve your problems but I'm afraid it won't help you here." Devoe replied. "We'll meet again, my mysterious foe and next time…it will end just as I predict it will."

"With you in cuffs and a headache from the beating I'll give you…oh I'm counting on it. You'll see me soon." Will assured him before he nodded to an agent who shut the power off. He took the tiny camera from the monitor and had an agent bag it along with the rest of the stuff they were going to take back.

Sportsmaster, Tigress, Bloodsport and all the men who helped them were taken into custody by the FBI and police. The three lead mercenaries would be eventually transferred to Belle Reve Penitentiary where they would spend life in prison if they didn't escape. The city was recovery and the mayor did his best to assure the people of National City that the Thinker would be caught. Many were unsure how to feel about how things ended. Sure, the city was safe, no bombs destroyed anything and the hostages were reunited with their loved ones and the people who helped were in custody but Devoe had escaped. Now he was free to do whatever he wanted and he would be back. The FBI, National City Police, and DEO would be working to track him down before he returned and made good on his promise. God knows what he would do for a round two.

Will arrived back at the DEO desert base with Director Henshaw and the other agents after helping them clean up Devoe's lair. Granted, he had to rendezvous with them half a mile away from City Hall so the news crews or someone wouldn't catch a sight of him with the others. Got to keep secrets a secret. And he made sure that Devoe didn't leave any surprises for them in the stuff they took or anything the police and FBI had. There weren't any so now the hope was that they could use it to track him down. When they arrived in the base's garage, it was nearly midnight and the end of a very long day.

Will got out of the jeep, finally back in his regular clothes which were a little damp from sweating and he was sore. Moving around like that, fighting, and stuff…it puts a lot on your body. "Ugh…I'm gonna feel this in the morning." Will rotated his shoulder and cracked his back. He then picked at his shirt which was wet with sweat and smelled. "Not to self, adjust suit to wick away sweat and maybe install muscle relaxer. I'm gonna be useless tomorrow."

"Just glad things worked out in our favor today." Henshaw remarked, grabbing his gear from the jeep.

"I'm sorry I let Devoe get away, sir." Will told him.

"It's not your fault, Mr. Detmer. You saved a lot of people today, us included." Henshaw assured him.

"Yeah, and your upgrades kept us from getting fried. Although we do smell like popcorn now." One of the agents commented as he and the others walked into the base.

"The hostages are safe tonight and the city isn't in financial chaos because of the work we did tonight, Mr. Detmer. You've impressed me. Perhaps you're more ready than I give you credit for." Henshaw told him.

"Thank you, sir." Will replied as the two walked into the base and headed over to the main area. When they entered, all the agents stopped what they were doing and began to clap which quickly turned into applause. "Do they do this often?"

"I think this time is a special circumstance." Henshaw pointed to the monitors which showed video playback, photos, and the news report on Will's heroics tonight. While the information the news had was limited, the DEO weren't in that situation and had plenty of footage of Will taking down Sportsmaster and Tigress. "All right, all right. Enough from the peanut gallery. Don't you all have work to do?"

The agents got back to work with many of them congratulating Will on a job well done. He thanked them and walked over to the observation center and sat down in a chair next to his dad. "I'm gonna use that I told you so now so…I told you so." He told him.

"It's well earned." Max replied, looking over at the video playback of Will's adventure before looking at his son who was sitting down in the chair. "Tired?"

"Yeah."

"Adrenaline's worn off. You're gonna be tired and sore tomorrow for sure." Max told him.

"Any chance they'll close school tomorrow too?" Will wondered and Max shrugged. "Anyway, all I want to do now is get a nice hot shower and go to bed."

"Sounds good to me." Max pat him on the shoulder and helped him up.

"Will, you should see this." One of the analysts brought up the news which was reporting on today's activities. The headline appeared below the reporter read Mystery hero saves hostages and there was a still images of Will's armor flying through the air from the Pruitt Building.

"In a shocking turn of events tonight, it would appear that National City has its own vigilante whose efforts tonight saved the lives of the hostages that Clifford Devoe was holding at the Pruitt Building. When the National City Police launched a daring raid, this mystery vigilante arrived and while many were quick to assume he was working with Devoe it would appear that he was there to save the hostages and attacked the police to prevent them from accidently shooting the hostages and falling into the trap that was set for them. Afterward, he captured and incapacitated Sportsmaster and Tigress, two wanted mercenaries who were working for Devoe and we are now getting reports that this same vigilante stopped an armored truck robbery and captured Robert DuBois also known as Bloodsport. While the identity of this vigilante is still unknown, many have been quick to call him a hero while many are just calling him a criminal. There's Captain Barnes now. Captain Barnes! Captain Barnes! Any comment on the mystery masked hero who appeared tonight?" The reporter asked National City Police Captain Nathaniel Barnes.

"Let's get one thing straight. This man, whoever he is, is not a hero but a vigilante and a criminal and he interfered and assaulted several NCPD officers tonight which is why we've just issued a warrant for his arrest." Captain Barnes stated.

"Wow, your welcome." Will muttered sarcastically.

"He does have a bit of a point." Max pointed out.

"Many are saying that this man did what the police could not and stopped the NCPD from accidently killing the hostages tonight. They're saying he's a hero." The reporter said.

"This man is nothing more than a criminal and I'll say this as well. Clifford Devoe will be captured by those who are upholding the law and not some vigilante who has taken the law into his own hands. No further comment." Captain Barnes left after that.

Metropolis

Clark Kent was in his apartment watching the news about the sudden attacks and hostage situation by Devoe. He would handled it but he had a volcano to deal with the in the south pacific at the time. Still, he was glad things worked out. Looking at the stilled image of the mystery vigilante, Clarke couldn't help but smile. Guess that kid with the DEO really did have a good head on his shoulders.

"Not bad, kid. Not bad…" Clark muttered when his hearing picked up sirens so he super sped away.

Gotham

In the Batcave, Bruce Wayne was doing some analysis and detective work for a case he was working on about some drug shipments coming into the city. Alfred came down with some tea and snacks and put them on a nearby table before going over to the Bat-computer. "Sir, I believe there is something you should see."

Alfred brought up the news covering what was going on in National City and the mystery vigilante who stopped Sportsmaster, Tigress, and Bloodsport. Although Devoe escaped and was in the wind, no one was killed. Bruce looked at the image of the masked man and took note of his appearance and armor when he noticed the watch the man had on his wrist and recognized it.

"I guess he took my advice after all." Bruce commented, focusing back on his work.

"That wouldn't happen to be the same lad you mentioned assisted you at Blackgate those months ago? You said he was just a young lad, no older than Ms. Gordon." Alfred said.

"It's him. Guess he got some new armor and picked up a few skills. Taking down Sportsmaster and Tigress is impressive." Bruce stated.

"And I trust you're planning to expand the research on the file you already opened on him after you saw his transformation?" Alfred asked and Bruce's silence was his answer. "You know, Master Bruce, if you looked at these other heroes as allies rather than enemies then perhaps you could form a team of sorts and lighten the load. Master Kent has been rather amiable so far, despite your…tense introductions to one another."

"I'll take it under advisement, Alfred." Bruce told him, getting back to work on analyzing the drug samples he had.

"In other words, no." Alfred commented, heading back up to the manor.

DEO base.

All the news reported was the hostage rescue and Will's hero activities that saved them. Plus, dash camera footage of Will's save at the bank was starting to circulate as well. The questions now: who is this mystery vigilante, where did he come from and will they see him again?

"I think the vigilante thing was a one and done kind of thing. I don't need the headache right now." Will cracked his neck and rubbed his shoulder to relieve the tension.

"So, no plans to go out there in the armor and patrol the city like Batman?" Max wondered as the two walked away.

"Not until after college if I can help it." Will replied as Max pat him on the shoulder. Time would tell if that would be true but considering his life…probably not.

End of Chapter 3

1). Tyler Hoechlin Superman from Superman and Lois as Superman.

2). Plasma Blastgun from Warhammer 40k.

3). Ultraman in a black and silver Man of Steel Superman suit with the Omnitrix on the belt and the Omnitrix Symbol on the chest. Ultraman is essentially Will as a Kryptonian adult so imagine Stephen Amell in the suit since that will be adult Will while Robbie Amell is teenage Will.

4). Suicide Squad Peter Capaldi's Clifford Devoe AKA Thinker appearance.

5). Suicide Squad Bloodsport as played by Idris Elba.

6). Stargirl Tigress played by Joy Osmanski.

7). Stargirl Sportsmaster played by Neil Hopkins but his armor is more slimmed down to resemble the Young Justice version.

8). It's the building sequence at the end of the Dark Knight.

I hoped you guys liked the third chapter. It's been a while but I've gotten a lot put into this chapter which is great. We've got Cannonbolt introduced and Will's met Superman and his own Kryptonian form, Ultraman. Plus, more with the Forever Knights who will be showing up soon. And we've gotten more of Will's life outside the DEO which will play its part in the story as will his friends. Will's armor has made an appearance and it's introduce him to National City which has its pros but also its headaches and he's got his first arch nemesis in The Thinker. He'll be showing up again for another match. And it'll be interesting.

Next chapter, Will's actions in his armor in stopping Devoe gives him some unwanted attention by the Forever Knights who track him down. And they picked Junior Prom to try and kill him. Bad timing. After that, Will ends up in Metropolis where he meets Superman again along with a Thanagarian cop, Hawkwoman and the three stop some alien bounty hunters who try to capture Superman for a collector. That ends up bringing the Main Man to earth and he's a real bastich. Enjoy!

For those that pick it up, Will's fighting style is similar to that of Captain America's from the MCU. Given the SHIELD, it makes sense but his training and most of his skill is in that MMA fighting kind of style with the suit making his faster and stronger. Plus, working for the DEO, he's not going to get Batman kind of martial arts training so more along the lines of MMA, boxing, and military kind of combat training which will progress as he gets older.

We've also got some new villains who will come up every now and then. Sportsmaster, Tigress, and Bloodsport have arrived as has The Thinker. It's the Suicide Squad version, not the one from the Flash. Since earth-38 doesn't have a Flash or Green Arrow, some of their villains will appear but suit this earth. This Thinker is more in line with the comics version. Don't worry, some more Ben-10 elements will be added to the story. And we've got face claims for some extra characters down below. Until next time.
