I do not own Harry Potter, only the OC

Hello guys, Badger here. I Hope you are all doing well today. If you aren't, I have a plate of cookies here, you can have one if you want. This chapter was supposed to publish a few days ago, but I have been having many migraines over the past couple of weeks. I don't know why, but if it keeps happening, I plan on going the doctor, to see if anything is wrong.

Anyway, I'll leave everything there and I'll let you read on. I hope you enjoy and I'll see you at the end.

Chapter 5

The Wand Weighing

"Try again" James said, as he threw a book in the air, before he quickly sent a stinging hex in Harry's direction

Harry used the summoning charm on the book, however, because of the stinging hex, he was unable to catch the book as he dodged. Something that frustrated him. It has been two days since he met James and Daphne in the library, and now, he and James were in one of the abandoned classrooms, with Harry training for the First Task which was creeping up on them. James was happy to see that Harry was getting pretty good at the summoning charm. However, in James' eyes, it needed improvement. This led to James making Harry dodge various spells, whilst also trying to summon an object from the air. When Harry asked James about it, the boy said that Harry wouldn't be able to stand still and summon his broom with a dragon looming over him. The Fire Protection Wards may protect him from the dragons fire, but will do nothing to protect him from the dragons claws, or teeth.

As James said, the exercise will help Harry with the summoning charm, as well as improve his dodging skills and reflexes. James noticed the frustration on Harry's face and decided that they should take a break and handed Harry a bottle of water, something Harry accepted gratefully, as he sat on the ground.

"I know it's frustrating" James sighed, as he sat next to him "But I'm doing this to help you"

"I know" Harry replied, before turning to him "You find that…sensory disruption spell yet?"

"Yes I did" James smiled "And luckily for you, it's not Family Magic…it's actually a piece of magic, forgotten by most of the Wizarding World…according to the book, one of my, many times, great grandmother learned the spell from an ancient mage who trained her as their apprentice…when it came to adding her own contribution to the Grimoire, she chose to add the Sensory Disruption Spell…I won't teach it to you now though, it's quite difficult to cast and with the state you're in at the moment, you could collapse from magical exhaustion…and it's a long walk to the infirmary"

"Okay" Harry nodded, feeling relieved at that "What about Daphne, will she be able to acquire the necessary ingredients to do the Fire Protection Wards?"

"So far, things are looking good" James replied "Her mother sent her a letter in response saying she has everything in stock and will send them to her, we should see them arrive within the next few days, which gives us more then enough time to apply the wards before the First Task…we should get going, lessons are about to start up again"

"I'm a Champion, I don't need to go to lessons" Harry reminded

"Oh, lucky you" James replied, in friendly sarcasm "Okay then, I'll see you soon"

As James made his way out of the room, Harry remained where he was, sat on the floor, for several more minutes. He chose to wait until it was nearly time for the next lesson to start until leaving, as he knew he would run into Ron and Hermione making their way to the classroom and he didn't want to come across them.

When he was certain the lessons were now starting, Harry brushed himself off, as he made his way out of the classroom and back towards the Gryffindor classroom. He didn't get far, however, as he was soon stopped.

"Harry, my boy" Dumbledore said, approaching Harry, the twinkle ever present in his eye "There you are"

"Professor Dumbledore…" Harry said, slightly nervously "I wasn't skipping lessons…I…"

"I know, my boy" Dumbledore smiled reassuringly "As Champion, you aren't required to attend lessons…you are, however, required, so follow me"

"Required for what sir?" Harry asked, as he followed the Headmaster

"Garrick Ollivander is here, for the Wand Weighing ceremony" Dumbledore explained "It is a mandatory part of the Tournament…Ollivander is to check the wands of each Champion, to make sure their wands are in good shape and condition, ready for the First Task…if Ollivander proves that the wand isn't in good condition, he will have them paired with a new wand"

Harry nodded, as he followed Dumbledore into a small room, where he saw Cedric, Krum and Fleur already there, waiting, with Karkaroff, Madam Maxime respectfully standing to one side. Sitting opposite the other champions, was the ancient wandmaker, who had a box with him, which Harry guessed was full of wands, just in case. Ollivander smiled, when he saw Harry.

"I have found our Fourth champion, Ollivander" Dumbledore smiled, guiding Harry to the empty seat, next to Cedric, before he stood with the other Headmasters

"Thank you Dumbledore, good to see you again Mr Potter" Ollivander said "Now that every champion is here, I think we should start with ladies first, Miss Delacour"

Fleur stood from her seat and elegantly made her way to Ollivander, handing her an equally elegant looking wand, albeit reluctantly. Any witch or wizard would be hesitant to hand over their wand, no matter the reason. Ollivander held her wand in both hands, respectfully and carefully, as he looked it over, examining it for any cracks, stains or other damage, as well as checking its condition.

"Hmm…9 ½ inches, made from Rosewood" Ollivander said, after a moment "With the core made from Veela hair, correct?"

"Yes, from my great grandmother" Fleur replied, with a sense of pride

"I see" Ollivander said "I haven't been able to create a successful wand, containing Veela hair, they can be quite temperamental..."

After examining the wand, Ollivander tested the wand and, with a flick, a bouquet of roses ejected from the tip of the wand and handed them both back to Fleur.

"It's in excellent working order" Ollivander smiled "I think we'll have Mr Krum next"

As Fleur sat down, Krum stood back up, not even giving anyone a glance as he handed Ollivander his wand, who examined it over.

"Now, this is a Gregorovitch creation, isn't it?" Ollivander asked, checking closer for any damage to the wood

"Correct" Krum grunted "One of his last creations"

"I see, I'd recognise his creation style anywhere" Ollivander commented "10 ¼ inches, made from Hornbeam wood, with a Dragon Heartstring core"

Happy with the condition of the wand, Ollivander gave it a small flick causing red sparks to fly in the air and gave it back to Krum, declaring it was also in excellent condition.

"Now onto our Hogwarts champions" Ollivander smiled "Mr Diggory, how about you first?"

Diggory smiled, as he got up, handing over a smooth wand that looked well kept. Ollivander looked particularly happy when he saw this wand, and began looking it over.

"Ah, yes I remember this one, one of my more recent creations" Ollivander replied "I'm glad to see you've been looking after it"

"I polish it every night, like you said to do" Cedric said proudly

"I'm glad" Ollivander smiled "Now, let's see…12 ¼ inches, made from Ash wood, with the core made from Unicorn hair"

With a smile, he flicked the wand, sprouting miniature birds from the tip, which flew around the room tweeting and singing softly, before vanishing them a few seconds later. He declared the wand was in excellent condition, before handing it over.

"Now, onto our final Champion" He said "Mr Potter"

Harry stood up and nervously handed over his wand.

"Ah, yes, my most trickiest wand of all" Ollivander said "11 inches, made from Holly wood, with a Phoenix Feather core…It took every wand in my store before we found one that matched with you…and I had to repair a lot of damage…I trust this wand has been proving itself useful to you Mr Potter?"

"It's kept me alive so far sir" Harry replied

Ollivander smiled softly, as he nodded. After examining the wand, he held it in one hand, flicking it fluidly, causing a jet of water to escape. Unfortunately, for the judges, due to the direction of the water, they got soaked. Karkaroff and Maxime glared at the ancient wandmaker, whilst Dumbledore gave a short chuckle as he used a drying charm.

"My apologies, my aim is slipping in my old age" Ollivander said, discreetly winking at Harry, telling him it was anything but an accident, as he handed his wand back "The wand is in excellent condition, no new wands are needed today"

Harry sighed in relief. He was glad that Ollivander didn't mention to the rest about his wand being related to Voldemort's. That was something he didn't want others to know. With every wand being declared fit for the Tournament, the Champions and Headmasters started making their way out, however Harry was able to catch up to Cedric.

"What is it Harry?" Cedric asked, as he was stopped

"I know what the First Task is" Harry replied "Dragons…we have to go up against dragons"

"You're serious?" Cedric asked, paling slightly

"I've seen them" Harry nodded "They have one for all of us"

"Thanks Harry" Cedric said "I'll…I'll see you later"

Harry watched as Cedric walked off, looking paler then he was seconds ago. Harry turned around and made his was towards the Gryffindor Common Room, to take the rest of the day off and read through the books he was given by James and Daphne. The Fat Lady who guarded the Common Room smiled softly, when it saw him and opened without him needing the password, allowing Harry immediate access. Harry thought nothing of it, as he made his way to the boys dorm, where he immediatley saw Hedwig sitting by an open window, a letter attached to her leg.

Harry immediatley removed it, giving Hedwig some owl treats and a few gentle strokes of her feathers, causing the owl to rub her head against his, before flying off to her perch. Harry, recognising the handwriting, quickly opened it up, to read the contents.

Harry,

I am glad I received your letter. I admit, I was panicking when I read the Daily Prophet, stating you were in the Tournament. Your letter helped calm those nerves.

However, whilst I am glad to see you are okay, I am not glad about everything that's been going on. Especially with your friends. Hermione especially. I expected her to remain by your side. I may have been wrong when I called her the brightest witch of your age. I'm also not happy with this Dragon situation. Dumbledore must be losing it with his old age. I want to help you with this, so I have attached some notes for a spell that may prove useful for you.

I am, at least happy, you are receiving some help. I was more then happy when you told me that James Badger and Daphne Greengrass. The Badger and Greengrass are some of the oldest Wizarding families in Britain. They are people you would want by your side Harry, if they are helping you, don't let them go, they are your best bet in this Tournament. Especially with Dumbledore doing nothing to help you.

That is all I have to say for now Harry, there is something but I can't tell you in a letter. Meet me in the Gryffindor Common Room, at midnight tomorrow night.

Sirius

Harry put down the letter and examined the notes attached. Written on the paper, in Sirius' handwriting was: Frigore Flamma, (The Flame Freezing Spell). Along with instructions on how to preform the spell. Harry smiled, glad to see his Godfather was looking out for him. However, he stopped. How was he going to explain this to James and Daphne. They knew about Sirius Black. The whole school knew, from the previous year, but they didn't know that he was Harry's godfather and that he was innocent.

The two had proven to be friends so far. Harry knew he was going to have to tell them. They needed to know. And, hopefully, they could help in proving his innocence.

That was the new chapter done. How was it?

I know gaps between chapters are very long sometimes, but I am in University. It hurts to say, but education is more important than Harry Potter. So, I hope you can forgive me for the long gaps. This chapter also went through a couple of rewrites, until I was happy with it, so I hope the migraines and rewrites were worth it.

That is all for now. I hope you enjoyed and I will see you next time.
