I'd never done anything like this. I'd never snuck out before, or used my quirk in public as I cloaked misled in blackwhip and hid in the shadows, my mothers phone in hand as I tracked Toshinori all the way to a building surrounded by police and Endeavor, which meant that All Might had to be inside. Was this the League of Villains hideout? This ordinary looking place? For some reason, I imagined it was something like a comic book, a giant skull shaped building, or something. But I guess that would have been too obvious.
Suddenly, a group of nomu attacked the police and Endeavor, and I couldn't stand there and watch, using Overlay to hide my face as I helped out. Whatever was going on inside, I had to assume All Might could handle it.
My fist connected with one nomu after another, and it seemed like there was no shortage of these things. I really hoped they weren't humans, but I didn't have time to worry too much, boosting my power to beyond my limit and moving as fast as I could now. Lives were at stake now, and I refused to let anyone here get hurt.
"Gst out of here, kid!" Endeavor yelled, but I turned and shot blackwhip next to his head, right through the head of a nomu before drawing it back and continuing the fight against these things.
A crash came from the building, and All Might roared before landing and tossing a nomu away from him, looking over at the number two here.
"Endeavor! Can you handle this!?" He called, wiping his mouth.
Endeavor called back, with knees bent slightly. "Does it look like I can't!? Don't tell me, Mr. Top Hero needs glasses in his old age!! If you gotta go, then get going already!!"
All Might nodded. "Yeah. Take care of everyone here." He told Endeavor, jumping so far I lost sight of him in seconds.
Leaving it to the number two hero, I followed after All Might, buffing up so I could push my speed to the absolute limit, barely able to keep an eye on him as I tried to catch up to him. How did he get so fast with no one who could match his speed? Was Gran Torino just that fast in his prime?
But it didn't matter because he stopped soon enough, grappling with a man in a black mask with a neck with weird pipes or maybe handles that reminded me of the ones on the warp villains neck.
There was Shigaraki and his group, this time with a giant muscular man, a man with his arms bound with his mouth forced open with what looked like wires, and young male with a gas mask and gun.
But among them was Kacchan, who looked tired and kind of sick, but he was alive.
"Kacchan!" I screamed, my gut wrenching as I landed in front of the league. I could take them all on if I had to, I was confident about it, but they didn't attack. They didn't move to hurt anyone, just observing the battle going on between All Might and All-For-One.
"So... see any good movies lately?" I asked them, taking a moment to size them up and watch their reactions.
"Dammit, Deku, this is no time for stupid jokes!" Bakugou yelled, and since he was okay, I turned my attention to the battle. They seemed to be doing more talking than fighting anyway.
"My wife. My son. My home. Taken by you, All Might. How fitting it is that Tomura Shigaraki is the grandson of your predecessor." The masked villain taunted, and from how strong he was, it made sense how casually he was speaking. He didn't seem to be breaking a sweat as he went toe-to-toe with All Might.
But I wasn't going to just stand by and watch helplessly, moving to join the fight as the muscular man stopped me, punching at me from behind, the sharp pain in my head warning me in time to dodge.
"Okay. One Atlas and a Dyna-Might to the League of Villains. I like those odds." I joked, moving to hit them, but someone even faster than me got to them first, knocking out the big muscular guy and the man with his arms bound, before they turned to sludge and melted away, instructing Bakugou and I to follow him. Was this a rescue operation now? Nah. The League was going down tonight.
As Torino and Bakugou escaped, neither seemed to notice I hadn't followed. Maybe they expected me to, but I had other plans.
"Scratch that. Me vs. you lame wannabes." I joked as I moved, hitting the large person I'd still yet to identify with a gender yet in the side of the head.
But I hit them too hard, I could see it in their eyes as they started to fill red and fell back, shaking uncontrollably until they just stopped.
The only ones who continued their battle were All Might and All-For-One, but what importance was this to the fate of maybe the world?
The blonde girl ran to the still person, checking them before looking up at me with hatred.
"You killed big sis Magne!" She screamed, the words sending a chill down my spine. I'd killed someone? Me? But I was supposed to be the hero. Heroes didn't kill. They just scared the villains before knocking them out.
My stomach churned, and I threw up, my hands shaking as a million thoughts ran through my head. Was I a bad guy now? Was I going to prison? Could I still be a hero?
The words of the All-For-One rang in my head, and in that moment, I really heard him. His wife. His son. His home. He was talking about me. I was born of evil. It made sense because now that the initial shock was over, I didn't even pity Magne...
"I'm so sorry. I thought..." I paused and tried not to show how good it felt, knowing that a little bit of evil was gone. "I thought you guys were stronger! You kept saying you were stronger!"
Going from buff to my smaller self, I took a deep breath and steadied my hands, looking at the League. It did hurt a little now that anger and immediate shock weren't stopping it. I'd taken a life, no matter how awful.
Moving over to Magne, I looked her at her and felt shame. I wondered if she got to live her real self before I'd snuffed out the candle.
There was shouting from next to me, and I held my arm out, stopping the girl from stabbing me in the chest, and unfortunately, having a blade pierce my forearm instead.
"No. No more fighting. It's over." I begged, my voice cracking as I looked over, a warp portal ready. It seemed the League was leaving, all of them already stepping through, except the girl, who seemed determined not to leave Magnes body behind, and Tomura Shigaraki, who watched his mentor battling mine.
"I'm so sorry." I muttered again and again, all of it too much, but I had to endure, picking up Magne and walking towards the portal, then through it, before I gently set down Magne and walked back through it, standing next to Shigaraki.
"Good night for it. Clear skies. You can see it for miles." He told me, and as our mentors continued their brawl, I could hear yelling. Backup had arrived.
"I agree with so much of what you say, what you do. So why are we fighting? Why aren't we on the same side?" I asked him, All Might forced into his skinny form, All-For-One aiming one last attack.
"Don't do it! All Might, don't kill my father!" I called out, the next moment almost like slow motion.
Black tendrils with red cracked lines extended from All-For-Ones fingers, stabbing through Toshinoris shoulders and pushing him down to the ground, pinning him there.
My feet moved, and as quickly as I could, I rushed at All-For-One, my father, hitting his weird, smooth face and knocking him away from Toshinori.
"Stay away from my dad!" I screamed at the supervillain, using blackwhip to counter his own tendrils.
"Get up All Might! Keep fighting!" I begged, afraid of the next step, fighting alone. This was the first real fight I had to do all on my own if he couldn't get up.
"Izuku?" Toshinori asked, struggling to get up off the ground. He was in so much pain, and I was begging him to get up and help me.
I was afraid, but I couldn't let All-For-One hurt anyone else. I wouldn't.
"Is it true? Are you actually my father?" I asked before buffing up again, staring down the villain. I would defeat him either way, but I had to know, just to make sure.
"It seems I've been replaced in that regard." All-For-One spoke, and it didn't matter. I knew what I had to do.
"We're blood. Not family. There's a difference." I replied, charging at him and using blackwhip as armor, our fist meeting before those tendrils shot out again, past All Might, and forced Shigaraki through the portal.
"Wait, not yet! With that body, you'll... no, no good! I'm not ready!" Shigaraki screamed, and All-For-One replied calmly and even.
"You will continue this war."
"And I'll beat him too!" I yelled, pulling my arm back and charging up all my power, using Overlay to push my body to its limit, and then some.
"United!" I dodged his tendrils and continued to charge up power.
"States!" More power, more than I'd ever used before.
An array of dark balls of energy being shot at me, a wall of fire protecting All-For-One as a mouth shot out from his hand at me, black lightning shooting from his free hand now.
"Of Smaaaaash!" I screamed as I got in close behind him and hitting him with as much force as I could, hitting him up high into the air and following as I jumped, then knocking him back down to the ground, smashing upwards and using blackwhip as I shield, slamming down into the villain, breathing heavily as I looked over. We were so far from anyone else. I wondered when they'd come for us.
"Still awake, old man?" I asked him, my right arm swollen and bruising, broken from the force of my punch.
"If I could move, I would, my child. I'd kill you." He answered, sounding as tired as I felt.
"Give it to me." I demanded from him, using float and blackwhip to force myself to move. "All-For-One, the power to take and choose quirks. Give it to me, and I'll change this world into what it should be. I will give this world the freedom to live as we are."
He chuckled, but I heard no mirth. No emotion.
"Lofty dreams from someone so weak." He commented, putting his hand on my right wrist, keeping me from standing, pain shooting through my body.
"You are so much like your uncle. If I had given him a duplicate of my own quirk, would we be here, or would we be ruling over the world together?" He spoke, and light came from where he grabbed me before he let go, seemingly unconscious.
For a moment, I questioned if it even worked before looking down at my father, sensing the new power and understanding how to use it. One touch, and he could be stopped, right? He didn't have to be a threat...
Kneeling down, I held out my hand and questioned if I could do it. Wasn't this supposed to be evil? I'd really only wanted the quirk, so All-For-One couldn't have it. But if it was just a duplicate, it wasn't evil. It wasn't the same quirk used to cause so much pain.
Touching his hand, I could sense the quirks in his body, one after another, and took as many as I could, forcing them into my body. Why should someone so evil have this much power?
Voices grew before I had to stop before I got caught, standing upright and turning off blackwhip and float, falling weakly next to All-For-One. What point was there calling him my father when I could hear my dad calling out for me?
"Izuku!?"
"Dad!?"
There he was, standing strong, so I forced my body to listen, ignoring the pain in my body as I stood up and looked at him sadly.
"We won."
"I'm proud of you, my boy."
This was supposed to be my golden hour, but I felt empty when I remembered the sacrifice it took to get here. Magne deserved a world that accepted her. It was my fault she never got to see that world.
Stoic as I could be, I held up my left arm in victory, knowing that the battle was over, even if All-For-One promised the war wasn't.
