Chapter 668: 17:00

Sunday, March 12th, Evening

(Robin Woods)

After leaving the River Court, the three friends decided it was time to get the stuff they needed for the party. The store is Robin Woods, a small independent place. Avril parked outside the store, and the three friends exited the car and walked toward the store.

"So, how are we going to handle this?" Baylee asked.

"What do you want to do, Av?" Brett asked.

"Bay and I will get the grindage," Avril said.

"We will?" Baylee asked.

"Yes, we will," Avril said.

"Grindage?" Brett asked.

"Snacks, B, snacks," Avril said.

"Okay," Brett said, "Let's do this."

The three young women entered the store and got two carts; Avril and Baylee went in one direction and Brett in another. She took it all in and examined the various paper and plastic products.

Brett looked over the shelves, determining which ones to pick and how many to get. She scratched her head and looked at the Dixie Cups. She could do Jell-o Shots; Auntie Tall talked about Jell-o Shots a lot. One of the things you would need is Plastic Dixie Cups. When satisfied, Brett pulled out her smartphone, checked how to make Jell-o Shots, and texted.

Next, Brett got several sleeves of Solo Cups, blue since they didn't have red. Next, she picked up a small box of plastic cups to make Jell-o Shots. Brett pushed her cart towards another aisle and found Jell-o. Looking over the flavors, she headed to where her friends were shopping.

Through the door, she walked up a few steps into the kitchen. Izzy saw Haley and Nathan sitting at the table, drinking coffee. Haley looked over at Izzy.

"Hi, Izzy," Haley said and sipped her coffee.

"Hi, Haley and Nathan," Izzy said as she entered the kitchen.

"The girls are in the other room," Nathan said.

"Thanks; how did Nomi do?" Izzy asked.

"She's progressing, but I see a touch of a temper in her," Nathan said.

"A You temper, or a Lucas temper?" Izzy asked.

"I don't know, but she has one," Nathan said.

Izzy nodded, "I'll keep an eye on it," she said.

"Another thing, if she is to be serious about playing the game, she's going to need good shoes," Nathan said.

"Okay, Keith would be the one to do that, but well, he's…." Izzy started to say.

"Overseas," Haley said.

"Yes, overseas," Izzy said.

"So, where would I get her a decent pair of basketball shoes?" Izzy asked.

"The Outlets, since Nomi will probably hit a growth spurt soon, I wouldn't get her brand new this year model shoes, but good ones," Nathan said.

"Any Brand?" Izzy asked.

"Nike is good; that's what I wore when I played," Nathan said.

Izzy nodded, "Thanks," she said, "Which room are they in?"

"The living room," Haley said.

"Thanks," Izzy said, leaving the kitchen, "Nomi!"

One could describe it as the meeting of the minds, the Terrible Three, Sawyer, LK, and Keni, sat on one couch in the Lady Parlor. In a mark of how typical they were, LK sat staring off into the distance, Sawyer was looking at the person across from them, and Keni sprawled out on the couch. Mina looked at them and wondered why the group's nickname was less popular.

"So, you're driving us to the party," Keni said.

"Yes, like I do to school, but I'll be waiting for you," Mina said.

"So, you won't interfere?" Keni asked.

"Unless I see you, any of you, in danger, I will not act or interfere with your life," Mina said.

"Okay," Keni said.

Mina looked over at the three girls. "Now, you three won't push me to respond, right?" she asked.

"Not something I plan to do," Keni said.

"Me either," Sawyer said.

"Good," Mina said, "Now, we all know there will be drinking at this party."

"No, there's not," Keni said.

"I'm no fool, Kendall," Mina said just to poke at Keni a bit, "My one statement will be don't get too drunk, so it's not too obvious to your parents."

"What about LK?" Sawyer asked.

"I will bring her home to Raven Hill after the party," Mina said.

"Okay," Sawyer said.

Mina nodded, "I suggest you start getting ready so we can make the party," she said.

"I guess you're right," Keni said.

"Let's go, LK," Sawyer said. LK nodded and followed Sawyer out of the Lady Parlor. Keni hung around for a minute, smiled at Mina, then did a sarcastic wave and followed Sawyer and LK.

Chase looked at her daughters. Two of them were Chase's Irish Twins, PJ and Key. They reminded Chase of her and Izzy.

"What, Mom?" PJ asked, the mouthier of the two. Chase noted she was the more outspoken of her pair with Izzy.

"Can't I smile at my daughters?" Chase asked.

"Usually, when you do that, we're in trouble, or you have a plan," Key said; she was the Izzy of the pair, the quiet, insightful one.

"Why would you think that, Key?" Chase asked.

"Because you always do that," Key said in a very Izzy statement.

Chase snorted, "Fine, I do," she said.

"So, are we in trouble, or do you have a plan?" PJ asked Chase noting herself in her daughter.

"A plan," Chase said.

"Are we going to like it?" Key asked. Chase wondered if she and Izzy were like this with their mom.

"You might," Chase said.

"So, what is it?" PJ asked.

"I was thinking we get burgers and go to the skate park," Chase said.

"The Skate Park?" Key asked.

"Yes," Chase said.

"The indoor or outdoor one?" PJ asked.

"Indoor," Chase said.

"Isn't it your Birthday today, Momma?" Key asked.

Chase nodded, "Yes," she said.

"Wouldn't Daddy have something planned?" Key asked.

"Yes, but Daddy got ordered into work," Chase said.

"Do you want to get burgers and Skate Park for your birthday?" Key asked.

"Yes," Chase said.

"Okay, I'm in," Key said.

"What about our gear?" PJ asked.

"I brought it with me," Chase said.

"Okay," PJ said, "I'm game." PJ was always the more active, outdoorsy type; she gets that from both her and Huck, Chase reflected.

"Where are we going for burgers?" Key asked. That reflectiveness was her dad, Huck, Chase noted.

"Where do you think?" Chase asked.

"YAY!" Key said and clapped. Chase had yet to learn where that came from.

"So," let's go," Chase said, loaded her girls into the SUV, and headed out.

"Momma!" the two girls called out.

"Yes?" Chase stopped and asked.

"Happy Birthday!" Key and PJ roared.

Chase felt a little flush but smiled, "Thank you," she said.
