Chapter 670: 19:00

Sunday, March 12th, Evening

(Deb Lee's Beach House)

The three young women retreated to the rooms they each chose. Brett closed the door behind her and looked at the dress hanging by the closet door. She looked at herself in the full-length mirror next. Brett brushed her hair out of her eyes and took herself in.

Why would Garvan cheat on her? Brett stripped down to her underwear and looked herself over in the mirror. Why would he cheat on her when she looked like this for someone like Felicia Witt?

Brett stripped off her underwear; she went to her bag and sifted through it. One of the advantages of being the step-granddaughter of Brooke Davis was that Brett learned from an early age an understanding of fashion. Also, she understood the importance of appearance and swift and decisive vengeance. Brett slipped into a fresh set of underwear that went with her chosen dress. Brett walked over to the hanging dress; she ran her hand up and down it, feeling the richness of the fabric.

One night, not too long ago, Brett and Huck sat on the patio. Huck started talking to Brett about King Charles III and his first wife. Brett listened to her dad tell her about the Diana, Princess of Wales's revenge dress. Brett smiled as she ran her hand over the dress's fabric one last time. She removed the dress from the hanger.

Brett slipped on the dress and ensured it settled into the right places. She looked at herself in the mirror; Brett adjusted her dress, and next, she applied subdued makeup; she finished by giving her hair a quick brush out and putting a clasp in it, then swept it over her shoulder. Brett slipped on a pair of heels. Her pale skin and ginger-red hair made it hard for her to be dressed. After one last look in the mirror and giving herself a twirl, she was satisfied.

Brett left the bedroom and went down to the main room. Baylee and Avril had changed and were waiting for Brett.

"Wow!" Baylee said.

"Who's the hottie?" Avril asked.

"Garvan isn't going to know what'll hit him," Baylee said.

"What is with bringing out the big guns?" Avril asked.

"Maybe, I don't know, I never get to wear it, so I said fuck it and wore it," Brett said.

"You're going to rock this place," Baylee said.

"He's going to shit himself," Avril said.

"I hope so," Brett said and smiled a wicked smile.

(Miller's Place)

Once they packed up their stuff, Chase and two of her daughters headed to the car. Chase used her key fob about five feet away and opened the rear hatch. PJ was the first one to put her skate gear in the car. Key and Chase were right behind PJ, putting their gear in the car.

With the doors unlocked, the girls climbed into the back seat. Chase smiled at her Irish Twins and pressed the key fob to close the rear hatch. Chase got behind the wheel and pressed the start button; the car roared to life. Fastening her seat belt, Chase pulled the car out of the parking space and headed off. She looked in the rearview mirror at her girls.

"So, are we ready for ice cream?" Chase asked.

"Yay!" Kay said.

"Yes," PJ grumbled.

"Remember, we have to get some for Daddy, Col, and BB," Chase said.

"What about Brett?" Key asked.

"What about Brett?" Chase asked.

"We're not getting her ice cream?" Key asked.

"Why would we get Brett ice cream?" Chase asked.

"It's her week with us," Key said.

"Oh, that's true," Chase said.

"So, why aren't we?" Key asked.

"Yeah, Mom, why aren't we?" PJ chimed in.

"Brett's doing something tonight and won't be home until late," Chase said if she came home.

"Oh," Key said.

"No, Brett tonight?" PJ asked.

"Maybe; I don't know when Brett will be home," Chase said.

"Oh," PJ said.

Chase noticed her Irish Twins were disappointed that they wouldn't see their older sister tonight. She wondered what would happen when Brett moved to Norte Dame.

Shaking her head, Chase pulled the car into the parking lot of the ice cream parlor named Miller's Place. Chase smiled and wondered what sugar-free ice cream she would have.

After Grant was fully packed, they went to Fallon's G-Wagen and headed to Wilmington airport. Grant sat in the passenger's seat and looked out the window. Fallon held the wheel firmly as she steered the G-Wagen towards the highway.

"I was wondering something," Grant said.

"Okay," Fallon said.

"You were sixteen when you moved down here, you spent most of your time in New York, but you keep coming back here," Grant said.

"That's true," Fallon said.

"Why?" Grant asked.

"Keni," Fallon said.

"It can't be all about Keni," Grant said.

Fallon shook her head, "No, it's not all about Keni," she said.

"I also noticed Brooke Davis is the only person you defer to," Grant said.

"Never mess with a Queen in her Queendom," Fallon said.

"It's more than that," Grant said.

"Yeah," Fallon said.

"What's with that?" Grant asked.

"Look, my mom died when I was young. Except for my Aunt Lindsey, Brooke has been the only mom I have ever known, and I give her all the respect in the world," Fallon said.

"Make sense," Grant said, "So, why do you still come back?"

"It's home," Fallon said as she drove onto the highway.

(Beaulieu Manor)

Stepping out of her shared bathroom, Sawyer stepped into her bedroom and saw LK standing in front of Sawyer's full-length mirror. Sawyer paused for a moment and looked at LK.

Sawyer's cousin stood there studying herself. Sawyer always thought LK was a beautiful young woman, a bit quirky but beautiful. LK was now dressed in the shirt and sweater that Sawyer and Keni helped LK pick out. Sawyer looked to LK's feet and noticed LK wore her ever-present Combat Boots; Sawyer gave LK a crooked grin and nodded. LK being LK, Sawyer noted.

Sawyer walked over to where her dress hung. Looking at LK, that was when LK noticed Sawyer.

"Sassy, you're back," LK said.

Sawyer took her dress off the hanger and started to put it on. "Yes, I am," she said.

"Do I look good in your clothes?" LK asked.

"Yes, you do, LK," Sawyer said as she settled the dress in place.

"Thank you, Sassy," LK said.

"You're welcome," Sawyer said, "You're getting better."

"Momma makes me practice," LK said.

Sawyer nodded and sat on her bed to pull on her thigh-high boots. "Are you wearing your underwear?" Sawyer asked.

"Yes, Sassy," LK said; it was a serious question because of a past incident.

"Keni, Sawyer, LK, time to go," Brooke yelled.

Sawyer finished putting on her boots and once finished, she led LK down to the foyer, where Brooke was waiting with Mina. Keni was already there, also dressed for the party.

"Girls, you all look beautiful," Brooke said.

"Thank you, Aunt Brooke," Sawyer said, gently bumping LK.

"Thank you, Aunt Brooke," LK said.

"Thanks, Mom," Keni said, rolling her eyes.

"Now, there will be drinking, drugs, and possibly sex; please, do not engage with any of that," Brooke said.

"Understood," Sawyer said.

"Yes," Keni said, and LK looked confused.

"Okay, let's saddle up," Mina said, and the girls headed out.

"Protect my girls," Brooke said to Mina.

"Yes, Ma'am, I will," Mina said and followed the girls.

(Hartmann Apartment)

She took a seat at one side of the table and waited. Alix watched as Opa carried over two plates. He put one down in front of Alix and the other in front of his seat. Opa took his seat and looked at Alix.

Alix smiled at Opa, and he smiled back. "I'm sorry, it's not much, but your Babushka was the cook," Opa said.

"It's okay, Opa," Alix said.

Opa smiled a little. "Thank you, Alix, but you don't have to be nice. Kätzchen was the one that was nice; you were always the honest one," Opa said.

"I've always enjoyed a home-cooked meal, especially on the road, where Wendy's is a good meal," Alix said.

"We were surprised you followed Kätzchen into music," Opa said.

"I enjoy it," Alix said.

Opa nodded, "How is Tucker?" he asked.

Alix nodded and smiled as she thought about Tucker. "Tucker is doing well, Opa," Alix said.

"Has he decided to give you a ring yet?" Opa asked.

"No," Alix said, "We've not even settled on if and where we want to live together."

"Well, I expect him to ask me, or as you young ones would say, consult me, on bless him to ask you to marry him," Opa said.

"We've not even discussed marriage," Alix said, "Why are you even bringing it up?"

"I just want to see you happy, Alix. Your Opa will not always be here, and it will be just you and Kätzchen," Opa said.

"Opa, ich muss nicht heiraten, um glücklich zu sein," Alix said.

"Ich weiß, Alix. Aber ich hatte deine Babushka, und nachdem deine Mutter gestorben ist," Opa said, "Da dein Vater weg ist, bleiben nur noch du und dein Kätzchen. Ich mache mir Sorgen, dass du ganz allein sein wirst, mein Herz"

"Danke, Opa, aber ich kenne mein Herz," Alix said.

Opa sighed. "Can an old man worry? I worry about you and Kätzchen," he said.

"I know," Alix said.

"So, what is keeping you from moving in with Tucker?" Opa asked.

"He wants me to move into his Beaulieu apartment," Alix said.

"So, why not?" Opa asked.

"Why not? I don't want to live under his mom's roof," Alix said, "I also don't want to leave you alone."

"Time is too short," Opa said, "I wish your Mom was here."

"I understand, Opa," Alix said.

Opa tilted his head and made a hand gesture. "As for me being alone. I'm fine, Alix, be happy," he said.

Alix nodded and took a bite of her food.
