Chapter 752: Roaster's Coffee Shop
Friday, March 24th, Morning
Looking over the email, she traced the line with her finger. Nodding, she sighed and removed her reading glasses. Rubbing her eyes, she blinked a few times and put her glasses back on; she started to answer the email. With one more quick read-over, she hit the send button, leaned back, and removed her glasses.
"Bobbi!" the barista called out. She stood up, pushed a few stray ginger red locks out of her face, and got her coffee. Bobbi-Lee returned to her table and found her sister-in-law sitting at it. Bobbi-Lee studied the brunette as she sat down. Where Bobbi-Lee had coffee, Chase hadn't yet.
"What brings you out here?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"Funny, I was going to ask you the same thing," Chase said.
"I'm on my way to a vendor, and there's work going on at my neighbors," Bobbi-Lee said, "Now you."
"I'm heading over to RBR," Chase said.
"Why?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"For some weird reason, my direct report is Haley, but it has more to do with some booking," Chase said.
"So, you stopped here," Bobbi-Lee said.
"They have the best coffee and are the only place around here with my favorite blend," Chase said.
"What would that be?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"It's from a small coffee shop in the East Village; I used to go there with my friends," Chase said, "Good times; it's the only thing that I like to keep from New York."
"What is it? I might want to try it," Bobbi-Lee said.
"VLC House Dark," Chase said.
"VLC, great coffee. I've been there a few times when I lived in New York; it's always great coffee," Bobbi-Lee said.
"Your two months in NYC?" Chase asked.
"Three and a half," Bobbi-Lee said.
"No worries," Chase said.
"You're the reason it was only that long," Bobbi-Lee said.
"Yup, sorry, my bad," Chase said.
Bobbi-Lee shook her head and smiled. "So, yeah, it was a great coffee shop; one of the girls in the pit recommended them," she said.
"Wouldn't it be a woman?" Chase asked, teasing.
Bobbi-Lee threw a crumpled napkin at Chase, which Chase caught. "You know what I mean," she said.
"I do, but it's still fun to yank your chain," Chase said, dropping the crumpled napkin and flexing her hand.
"What's wrong?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"An old injury, back in high school when I played lacrosse," Chase said.
"Still bothering you?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
Chase shrugged, "On and off for the last few years, but more now with the extended cold," Chase said.
"I heard Kelly is renovating a few of the spinster cottages," Bobbi-Lee said.
Chase nodded, "Yeah, they need it," she said, "Especially the one Huck and I stayed in just before Tree Hill Hall finished."
"They weren't meant for families," Bobbi-Lee replied.
"We weren't that large yet," Chase said.
"Three with a fourth on the way?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"Oops," Chase said.
Bobbi-Lee rolled her eyes, "Why now, though?" she asked.
Chase shrugged, "She's always looking to keep the estate profitable, and I also think one is for Brett," she said.
"For Brett? I figured what little time she's home, she'd either stay with you or Ashlyn," Bobbi-Lee said.
Chase shook her head, "No, you know as well as anyone, especially after this year, Brett needs her own space," she said.
"True," Bobbi-Lee said, "If this is true, I wonder if Brett will get the one offered to me."
"You didn't take one?" Chase asked.
"That's why I bought my house, call it pride," Bobbi-Lee said.
"Okay, Pride," Chase said.
"Funny," Bobbi-Lee said.
"I try," Chase said.
"I do like my cottage," Bobbi-Lee said.
"Yeah, it's nice, but I heard from Brett that you're doing her prom dress," Chase said.
"She asked me to, and I said yes," Bobbi-Lee said.
"My mom usually does it," Chase said.
"I know, and I spoke with your mom," Bobbi-Lee said.
"And?" Chase asked.
"She's fine with it, in fact, thinks it's the right thing to do, especially since Brett asked me; we're close, and it probably would mean more to her," Bobbi-Lee said.
Chase nodded, "It's been a long time; it's going to be hard not having her around," she said.
Bobbi-Lee nodded, "But PJ is a lot like Brett," she said.
"PJ is PJ; she's very much Huck's daughter, but Brett is different," Chase said.
"So, I have a different relationship with PJ," Bobbi-Lee said.
"Still, Brett will always be there," Chase said.
"She always will be," Bobbi-Lee said.
Chase nodded and looked at Bobbi-Lee. Before Chase could say something, the silence was broken by the barista.
"Chase!" the barista called.
"That's my coffee," Chase said, getting up and retrieving her coffee. Bobbi-Lee shrugged and went back to checking her work.
