Chapter 14: The Cerulean Challenge!

It was a quiet night in the Island. The murmur of the forest mixed with the night life sounds of the forest. Bathed in the moonlight, Tapu Koko and Mesprit were enjoying some respite from their job as host. They barely had the time to unwind together and the show had brought the two of them rather close. Tapu Koko especially had made great strides in being a good host and a competent adult. Mesprit had fine tuned her ability to lead as well as her ability to work in public. The show was very successful, and they could finally talk together about it, enjoying a blueberry juice and tea biscuit snack as they discussed about the season at hand.

"The previous challenge went even better than I expected. We are literally rolling in rating heaven currently" Said Tapu Koko excitedly. "Tho, some Pokémon were really worried about the mental state of Yamask... She has received a lot of support letters from fans and viewers. I truly wish her the best" He said seriously.

"Poor girl had a rough past. But she is okay now. She has overcome a part of her past and now is walking toward a new one she chose for herself" Mesprit said with a smile as she drank her juice. " It is sad we couldn't listen her music more however. The beginning started really good." She sighed.

"Yeah well, it is what it is. She will manage. More importantly now... We have successfully made it to the Merge! I can't believe we're at that point already" said Koko happily.

Mesprit nodded with a soft smile on her lips, then looked through the window deep in thoughts "Do you remember the first challenge?" She said with a soft voice

"How can I forget it? The trail of eliminated contestant screams of memories that has been made and dreams that were broken...or realized.'' Said Tapu Koko, looking up at the moon.

'' Indeed. Gossifleur's and Magikarp's elimination were good indication of how serious this show would be." Said the emotion Pokemon.

"Very true, my beautiful friend. Do you remember the hottest rivalry on the Island? Sneasel and Monferno? They have been going at it for at least a year, wasn't it?" Asked Koko

''Since the exact same day when the wishing orb created by Jirachi and Victini... Well, at least it intensified ever since that day...'' Said Mesprit with a wistful look on her face.

Tapu Koko saw it and patted Mesprit's shoulder in support, which she appreciated. ''I wonder if he is okay. He has been away for so long." She said, sighing sadly.

Tapu Koko thought fast, wanting to change the subject before Mesprit started sulking. His face illuminated itself suddenly.

"Hey Mes. Remember when the Meloettas came to the Island?" He started

Mesprit's face beamed with remembrance. "Of course. The first concert was amazing, but the second concert she gave in the pub was simply out of this world." She said with a visible smile on her face.

"Yes for sure, that concert was amazing. Remind myself to buy a ticket to her concert sometime. Of course, when she visit Alola I mean. Outside the show, I hardly can leave my island unprotected.." He sighed...

Mesprit nodded before her smile turned carnivorous. Tapu Koko gulped, a slight feeling of dread making its way down his spine, making the Melemele guardian shiver.

"As far as I know, you have something else on your mind aside from the concert don't you?" Mesprit asked with a smug stare. She was seeing right through him and the realization made him blush hard.

"You already know that I like Latias anyway..so why are you looking at me like that?! Koko asked worriedly.

Mesprit pounced playfully like a Chien-Pao on her prey "At first it was true but, after Lyra came... I can tell that you became conflicted. Have you seen the passion she displayed during her time at the bar? You were staring, completely transfixed by her the whole time. I am sure that you didn't even have Latias in mind at all during that moment... Honestly, her performance made me shiver a little. It was so beautiful and passionate.'' She teased relentlessly.

Tapu Koko turned a whole shade of pink as he remembered Lyra's passionate signing and dancing. Her sharp movements, her precise control over her body, her bossy, almost cold demeanor, her confidence and assurance... and her matured beauty had attracted him like a moth to a flame. Where Latias displayed a cute, playful attitude and figure, Lyra was just beautiful, mature, confident and strong. All qualities that Tapu Koko, deep inside, found very desirable. Quickly realizing that his train of thoughts were quickly derailing and especially looking at Mesprit's widening smile made the Tapu shake his head clear of images of Lyra. He needed to take back the control of this conversation before he reverted back to being a stuttering mess.

''Yes I have seen that, And it was amazing. But I like Latias. I won't be swayed by how beautiful, pretty and confident Lyra is!'' Koko said a bit childishly, pouting.

Mesprit did not said anything, instead, she just kept drinking her juice. She knew that Tapu Koko was conflicted but she also knew deep down what Tapu Koko was really feeling. However, as the Goddess of Emotions she couldn't intervene. She wanted Tapu Koko to realize who he was interested more in by himself. As such, kshe decided to drop her teasing.

"Anyway, what about Lapras and Makuhita? We have received quite a lot of mail and fan mails for them as well. I remember just how many people were shipping them together." Said Koko, happy to be able to change the subject.

"Ah right, the sweet couple. Now with a child too. I liked watching them. Couples like this is so rare Nodaways you know.." Said Mesprit dreamily. "And that child was really cute. Honestly I wish I could have blessed the little triton.'' She said tenderly.

Tapu Koko nodded. ''These two really made the first part of the show sky rocket. It also showed to the world that even in difficult situations, Love can bloom and make amazing stories.'' He said sagely before looking smug.

''What is it?'' Asked Mesprit, intrigued by this change in demeanor.

"Nothing Mes. I was just thinking that my sigma pokemon plan was also great in my opinion. Eiscue in the other hand had to deal with a poor situation though."

"Quite indeed. That day, the Zacians lost again which made Sneasel more angry and honestly quite cutthroat. I was worried about him at that point. I still am. Uxie managed to canalize his anger for him for a small while but I am not sure it worked in long term..." Mesprit said worriedly.

"Speaking of Uxie, it was sweet how you and your brothers made cakes for the autumn festival.'' Said Koko with a warm smile

"I know right? It had been a long time where we were able to be together like this. I really missed it." Mesprit smiled fondly at the memory.

"I am even more happy that uxie could offer Victini a job which also pay well enough for him to be able to maintain himself. He wouldn't be able to stay at Mew's with his wedding coming up.'' Commented Tapu Koko with Mesprit nodding in agreement.

"The cooking festival was also great. The Zamazentas won again and Luxio had to leave.'' She said, continuing her reminiscing.

''That one was oddly frightening. Luxio seemed like he was a war veteran or something. I wonder what happened in his past...'' Koko asked with a solemn expression on his face. Mesprit shrugged a little before carrying on.

"The world tour was also a great idea Koko. I hope we able to keep going that." She wished happily, her eyes twinkling.

"Of course we do. What do you think why I searched across the whole planet looking for every mystical species?!" Koko asked annoyingly "You have no idea what I had been going through.." He said turning away from her, shivering at the memories.

Mesprit jumped onto his shell and whispered to him gently in his ear, employing her criminally underused seductive, teasing voice. "My dear Koko, we both know that you were the right Pokemon for the task. After all, you are the warrior of Alola. If there was one Pokemon that could gather the others to our cause, it was you..." She then gently ran her paw on his crest, fluttering her eyelashes. "Besides, aren't you a warrior? It must have been pure catharsis for you to challenge all of them, wasn't it? I was certainly impressed..." She purred, making Tapu Koko blush crimson.

Koko shivered as he felt his internal temperature flare up. Mesprit's seductive voice was potent. Very Potent. The shiver that rocked his body had no right to feel this good. In that moment, Tapu Koko was reminded of how actually seductive Mesprit could be, remembering how she had essentially charmed him out of the Head Host position. For the second time of the evening, the Mele Mele electric guardian shook himself away from the violent attraction he felt toward Mesprit and let his pride overide the effects of Mesprit's words.

"Yes I know that I am amazing and very strong. After all, who wouldn't be dazzled by my prowess?" He boasted, with Mesprit rolling her eyes playfully.

"However, even with all my prowess, I can see that I am still lacking. Some are still stronger. Like how Azelf's student Ursifu was. Like, that fight between him and Riolu and Makuhita? It was so epic!" He said excitedly.

"It was amazing yes. I rarely see such epic battles when I am at my lake and let me tell you. It can be really boring and uneventful in there. I normally don't mind that, but sometimes I feel so bored that I have to do things to make the day more...interesting." Mesprit said with a mysterious smile what attracted Koko's intereset.

"What kind of things?" He asked as flew closer to her, almost silently begging her to tell him.

"Trust me, you don't want to know." She said with a shrug but still kept that smile that made Koko shiver a bit thinking of what she could do to liven her daily life. Like, when he was bored, he would simply catch a random pokemon on his Island and start a battle. No matter when or where. Luckily for him, the natives liked to battle and felt honored to be chosen by the guardian for a battle. Some of them were actually capable of going toe to toe with him, like that Lineage of Hariyamas and Crabominables that would once a year do tournaments and the winner would have the chance to fight Tapu Koko.

It was a ceremonial battle and Tapu Koko never lost, but if he was pushed sufficiently, he granted them the ability to use Z-Moves and bestowed them with his own Special Z move, Guardian of Alola.

Tapu Koko loved those battles because it was always so entertaining.

But he knew Sinnoh is a different culture and region. So he could only guess what she could be doing during those down times.

"Anyway, Zacians lost again. The twist where the opposite team chose who to get rid of was brutal that early into the season as it signified the end of Riolu." Mesprit said, changing the subject.

"Sneasel totally lost his mind since his sidekick and the only one who kept his sanity, was gone..He has been lashing out ever since." Koko noted, pensive. " however, I wish that the rotten rodent would have been kicked out instead... I've got to say though, that punishment he got delivered by Mienshao was amazing just desserts..I still have that photo." Koko said as he showed the picture to Mesprit. The picture in question depicted Bidoof, fainted pathetically in the Trash can.

"I will keep this picture for the rest of my life. It is far too funny!" Tapu Koko said, laughing merrily and quickly joined by the emotion Goddess

"Metang too should probably have been kicked around. That rude scrap metal ruffian" Mesprit said, feeling more than a little upset.

"Just because he teases you about the fact that you are old?" Koko asked skeptically. "Really Mesprit, it is nothing wrong to be that old. You have certainly aged like fine wine. Look at how easily you had them looking at you when you dressed up. Besides, your experience is your greatest asset. I would kill to have half of your experience and a lot of girls would sell their soul to Giratina to retain such youthful looks with your age. Really there is nothing wrong with you.

Mesprit blushed, taken aback and looked away. She hadn't expected that from the Juvenile Guardian.

"Well, If you say so..." She said, a bit embarassed, yet comforted

"There you go. You should ignore what he says. He is just trying to get under your skin. You are not a common pokemon like him. Your age does not impact your physical body. You will always be a beautiful young lady no matter how old you are or will be." He finished with his best impression of the nice guy pose.

"You are right, I should ignore him." Mesprit replied, thankful and smiling. "You know, you have grown so much since we started this show. You were so much more pueril and frankly a bit annoying back then." She pointed out with a warm smile.

Koko smiled back. "My brothers and sisters did say that doing this would be very instructive for me. They were right. I look at my past self with embarrassment, but I suppose I needed to start growing somewhere." He contemplated, humble.

"Back on Makuhita, the lad found his own treasure, and asked them zamazentas to vote him off. I am sure both the child and him are waiting for the moment Lapras go back home.' Continued Mesprit

"The winter holiday game was also nice too. Zamazentas lost again and Scyther was out." Koko said "I also hope that Latias liked my gift..."

"because of Haunter...well Gengar now, you know. We should keep an eye on her just in case." Said Mesprit back.

"Then we had the paintball fight?" Asked Koko with an amused look on his face.

"It was quite the spectacle. And do not forget that victory dance. It was funny to watch." Mesprit laughed thinking back to that incident.

"The talent show was good too. Tho seeing Hattrem and Yamask's friendship was better. I also liked how laid back Lyra was. Both she and Melody looks like fire and water. Like, did yo u se how lazily she put her legs on the table while crossing her arms? I did not expect that a Meloetta would do such a thing. Tho, I only seen one meloetta before, her being Melody. So I have no idea how others behave. So seeing her sister different from her image was good to see." Koko said deep in his thoughts before he turned to Mesprit smirking. The knowing smile she had immediately set Koko off in a fit of stuttering, trying desperately to save face.

"But, this still does not mean anything. Okay?" He asked in hope she will not think what he think right now.

Mesprit in the other hand just smiled. "In any case, the whole year went pretty fine. And I hope everything will goes well in the future too.

"Yeah. Let's do our best tomorrow as well!" Koko said while both of them cling their glasses of juice.

*One week later..*

Sneasel walked in the mountain area of the island while searching for some good places to train himself. He needed to be alone so he could think about how to win the coming challenges. He didn't know what to expect of course, however, he didn't deem bringing any teammates or warning anyone necessary. He needed quiet, he needed solitude. When he finally found the right spot, a chilled cave spot behind a waterfall, the sharp claw Pokemon smiled contentedly. Resolute on his path, he entered the cave with resolve, knowing that this was his haven of training and thinking. Within the confines of the cave, he trained his mind and body unaffected for the whole week.

* 000 *

Sneasel was staring at the camera. He looked bruised but his eyes were shining with a rare sense of resolve and malevolence.

''The merge must be soon. I have spent 8 days in that cave, only coming out to hunt. They didn't announce any challenges in that period. That means that they are setting up for something big. Whatever it is however, I will overcome it. I shall overcome everything no matter how It looks. Wether I must be an Angel or a Demon, I will win this Wishing orb.'' He said as he slashed a bit of his wrist, watching the blood trickle from it as if he had done a blood contract with himself. The camera turned static after this.''

* 000 *

Back in the cabins, in his room, a small rodent looked at his handiwork with unabated satisfaction. A small trickle of blood started to seep from his nose, but quickly he wiped it off, not wanting to damage his precious goods.

What goods, you ask? Well...

Bidoff really enjoyed taking photos of every girl in the island. Even if the sub game ended a while ago, this did not stopped him to make more and more pictures of the girls in very embarrassing or...suggestive moments. The rodent wasn't stupid. He knew that his chances of winning the whole thing were relatively low. Either he would be voted off by the cliques present in the show or he would be screwed over by the hosts. So he would be smart and create a product that tabloids would kill to have. Snickering for his brilliance at devising the plan, the normal type shook his head.

''These fools really shouldn't have given us a military grade stealth training. We could become amazing agents with that stuff.'' He said as he Put back the album into it's secret spot. He then stretched his body to let loose before walking toward the beach, where he had a rendezvous with a certain Metal/Psychic supercomputer. His greatest ally in the game so far.

* 000 *

Bidoof was smiling smugly at the camera in the confessional. ''In games like these, one should always be prepared to know what he can do if he loses. The prices is definitely worth fighting for...but I am a greedy fucker. And as such, I shall shamelessly leech of young mongrels in heat in order to be rich and have a comfortable lifestyle. Hahahahaha!'' Laughed the small rodent evilly as the camera turned static once more.

* 000 *

Lapras was having a nice swim in the Beach area southeast of camp. She had done so almost everyday since the last challenge had happened. Staring at the starry sky above her, her thoughts turned invariably to her boyfriend and their adopted son, the adorable Phione Tristan. She sighed sadly.

She missed them so much but she knew that they would watch her through the TV and cheering for her no matter what.

Thinking about this, a big smile appeared on her face, her eyes burning with a renewed sense of purpose.

* 000 *

"Guys...do not worry. I will win this. No matter how hard I have to try, I will never give up! I will win the game. Whatever it takes!" She shouted to the empty bay. Loud and resolute, with a passion a bit foreign for her. After her outburst, the Transport Pokemon looked around her blushing, hoping that her shout didn't bother anyone, visibly relaxing when she realized that it wasn't the case.

* 000 *

The high adrenaline Dragon junkie, Fraxure, had been training hard in a cave near the Oceanic part of the Island, but removed from where Lapras was swimming. As she was panting, looking outside her cave for one of the rare times, she spotted a graceful, purple furred training on the beach. The dragon was transfixed by her movements. Strong, flexible, precise, powerful. She had heard rumors that the svelte ferret had taken Monferno under her wing and was acutely aware that Urshifu was training her harsh enemy...rival...friend...Riolu. That last thought made a warm feeling erupt in the dragon's chest, feeling that she immediately shattered upon realizing it. Her eyes narrowed at the figure. If Urshifu was training Riolu and that the ferret was training Monferno, then she could maybe become stronger by beating that Mienshao into the ground. But the question was...was she capable of that?

Well...

There was only one way to find out

She left the cave, and jumped down from the cave and rushed the ferret, clad in blue in a violent Dragon Rush.

Sensing her presence, the ferret quickly spun and blocked the attack with protect. Looking at who attacked her, she smiled. It was only a matter of time before she would be hunted by the dragon. She had felt her aura. She was strong, but she needed guidance...

''Just like him...'' She muttered before taking a defensive stance.

"Good evening Ferret! Are you ready to experience how sand taste like?!" Fraxure taunted her with a grin, her tail slapping on the ground in excitement

"That is if you don't have your own mouthful first!'' She replied competitively as she started hopping into place. Finally, she had an opponent other than the monkey. After hearing from Riolu and Urshifu, she was interested to see how she could develop. She was the other Pokemon she was interested in. It would be a pleasure to test her strenght, she thought was she launched herself at the Fraxure, whip like arms at the ready...

In the meantime, far from the others, Roserade spent most of her time in the library reading about stories and legends. She heard fighting sounds outside, but she decided to pointedly ignore it, preferring focusing on the stories the books were telling her instead. She quickly got entirely absorbed by her books, to the point of completely cutting her awareness of the outside off..

...

"And this is the library of Sosei! Here we able to become really knowledgeable! This also happens to be the favorite spot of our Tea specialist and resident rose beauty! Let's spend some times with Roserade!'' Said an eager hattrem, which scared the poor Roserade half to death! Gogoat, the Librarian, wasn't so keen on such noise being made, as he made his point clear.

"Not so loud young one!" The librarian said with a stern voice, glaring at the pigtailed witch who shrunk sheepishly.

"Oops sorry.." Hattrem apologized before turned back to her rotom phone while walking towards Roserase who looking up from her book curiously, examining the small psychic type curiously.

"So this is Roserade. She is amazing at making tea and cookies. Say Hello to the audience Rosie!" She asked happily as she hugged Roserade with her left pigtail and pulled her strongly towards her.

Roserase was kinda confused but did a small wave into the camera nonetheless, amused by the small psychic type's demeanor.

"Tell us about your amazing tea and cookies miss!" Hattrem asked with stars in her eyes while motioning her rotom phone to come closer, but not too clo to rotom to go a bit closer to her, but not too close.

Flustered, the rose stuttered a response. "Um..well, they are not really special...I just like to make tea from different things. I have a garden full of plants, berries and flowers at home. I used to harvest them and making tea from them from time to time. About the cookies though...honestly, I do not do that often. Because of my grass typing, I can't fire or hot places very well. But my favorite flavor is nanab so I tent to do those one with dark chocolate sometimes." She explained sheepishly, looking absolutely adorable as she did so.

"I see, I see! That's really cool still. And what are you doing right now?" continued the pigtailed psychic type

"I am reading stories about history, legends and adventures...they are amazing relaxation. You should try it sometimes dear. " She invited the small girl.

"I feel you. I also like to read books from my own library back at home." Replied hattrem with a smile

"..back at home?" Roserase asked curiously. She was surprised. It is not usual to have a own library for common folks.

"Yes. We have a big room full of books. My big sister likes to spend a lot of time there for her studies. My younger sister doesn't like it that much. She think it is boring. Sitting on our butts and don't do anything and stuff." Hattrem said with a shrug.

"I see." Roserade nodded examining what she just heard. If she had a whole own library that meant that her parents weren't common folks..that was for sure. But then , who were they then?"

But before she could ask her about it, she noticed in surprise that Hattrem's long antennae started moving to her left.

"oh, Oh! This must be interesting. The fierce dragon trying to beat the Shaolin whip master..I have to go! it would be bad to miss it! Bye Roserade!" hattrem waved as she quickly jumped outside with her rotom phone following behind.

It was quiet once again in the library. Roserade wondered how she knew exactly who is fighting with whom?

She shook her head and went back to reading. She could always ask her later.

* 000 *

Back at the zamazenta's shack, in Monferno's room, a worried Loppuny Morph was hugging the fire monkey, crying, with Monferno gently holding his beloved. The gentle Zamazenta leader also was holding back tears, but he knew that he needed to remain strong, for the both of them.

"I hoped I could keep this time off forever. That I had it under control. But now...the time is coming fast. 'She' has grown so powerful..." She said sadly as she turned to him.

"I..I am afraid Monferno..really really afraid. After my Evolution that monster got stronger..and I unable to hold it back as well as I could before..what if..what if I kill everyone tomorrow? what if...I kill you as well?" She said, shivering as she hid her face in her hands and in the first time in her afterlife, she started crying. She did not wanted any of this. She did not wanted to cause harm any longer..She wanted it to end but, how?

Monferno hugged her. "We will figure it out dear. Just hang in there. I won't let you " He said soothingly

Honestly, he had no idea before what he wanted to wish for since Jirachi and Victini made the wish orb. He always tried to figure out what it could be.

However, now he knew what it would be.

* 000 *

Monferno looked resolute on the camera. ''I'm going to make sure to win this. For both of our sake'' He said with a confident smile

* 000 *

Later that night, as both of them were asleep, Gengar smirked. The night was her domain, and with Lopunny's? consciousness resting, she took over her body and rose, returning to her Gengar true from with hungry, glowing eyes. Leaving her bed, the Gengar watched Monferno for a while. She wasn't stupid. She knew full well that her as well loved the Monkey. After all, the Monferno had claimed her as she was a Haunter. However, she knew what her true nature and she needed to feed. So gently nuzzling the sleeping monkey, she turned away, a malevolent smile on her face. If the monkey was the only living being she wouldn't torment, everybody else was fair game...and she had one victim she found particularly delicious...

''You disgusting water monster, I will bleed you like cattle for my amusement...'' She whispered as she shot toward the bay, where Lapras's was sound asleep.

Nobody knows what she exactly did as she infiltrated her dreams, but Lapras's face soon twisted in pain, fearful and pained whimpers escaping her mouth.

''Ahhh...that's the stuff. How can she resist such delicious suffering and fear? We're a Gengar, not a Lopunny. This what we should be doing...not just swooning over an handsome devil or try to win a measly wish orb... Her form glowing purple, she decided to break Lapras's mind. That would be the ultimate delicacy.

However, before she could finish Lapras off, A blast of flamethrower stopped her. The ghost type sighed as she had a big idea of who had just interrupted her meal.

"Stop right there Gengar! If you want to fight, I am the perfect opponent for it.! Monferno cried as he threw the ghost Pokémon off the Lapras into the sandy beach closely.

"It is not nice to interrupt someone during dinner time sweetie? I am afraid that you broke a code among ghost type Pokemon and despite how handsome you are, I have to punish you, my beloved monkey..." Gengar said before she threw herself at Monferno who was ready to take on. The battle lasted a while, as with evolution, Gengar had become very formidable, with the Ghost clearly enjoying fighting her lover. Eventually however, After a well placed Fire Punch from Monferno, Gengar felt that her fun had lasted enough time. She couldn't allow the body they shared to be too damaged, so she let go with a flirtatious smile.

''I'll be back sweetie, for now, you can have your bunny back. But you know I'll be back to feed. Feel free to dance with me again once i am done.. hahahahaha.'' She said as her laugh echoed eerily in the area before a purple flash blinded Monferno. When the flash receded, Gengar was nowhere to be seen and at the place she had been standing was left a panting Lopunny morph.

"Are you okay?" Monferno asked as he kneeled down to help her stand up.

"Yes. thank you. I wasn't sure you would hear my cries for help in your dreams but I am glad you did." She smiled. "I just hope I did not caused to much damage to others..."

"You didn't do not worry. I stopped her before she could truly do damage...'' Replied Monferno as he sad down beside her, cradling the Lopunny morph in his arms

"I know you did. Thank you." She smiled back before falling asleep, exhausted. Monferno kissed her forehead as he veiled on her that night, wanting to make sure nothing would disrupt her sleep again.

During that evening, Croagunk had decided to ditch his usual company, not seeing any real value at staying anyway there, and headed to the bar. He was hoping to be able to find a certain esteemed guest there. Indeed, he had enjoyed talking to Mesprit the last time he had been there, somehow feeling a sort of kinship with the host and goddess of Emotions. He didn't really have the opportunity to have real, intelligent conversation with much of the others, so she was a welcome talking buddy. It seemed that tonight was propice to a longer talk, so he was flipping that coin, hoping to find her at the Lounge.

Indeed, as it would have been, the lounge was decently packed. Good fortune would follow as he heard from one of workers that Mesprit indeed was there, sitting in the corner reading something.

"Kon'nichiwa,-dōshita no?" (Hello, what's up?) he asked as he sat down front of her.

"Tokubetsuna koto wa nani mo arimasen. Soshite anata wa?" ( Nothing special. And you?) Mesprit asked back without looking up.

"Dochira mo nani mo" ( nothing ether) He shrugged.

" I did not expect you to be able to still the language of humans from that long ago, those who dwelled within Kanto, Jotho and Sinooh" Mesprit said in surprise.

"Well, I am not fluent but I learned from here and there, while interesting myself to the ruins the humans left behind." he said.

"Yes. They were a unique species for sure. Sometimes I wonder what they are doing in the cosmos. " She looked up at the sky. "It is a shame that I am no longer able to see them." She said sadly.

"Will they come back one day?" Croagunk asked curiously. He always wanted to know what humans looked like as he had seen them in moss covered pictures from the ruins, but never clearly as he knew that seeing them live would be different indeed.

"I am not sure. They have been gone from this realm for centuries now. Maybe they will discover this planet one day and try to establish themselves there. However I do not know I do not want another huge war again between the two species...I am not sure this planet would able to handle that one. Last time it happened, Arceus had to step in before the planet got completely ravaged Mesprit said sadly thinking back to that horrible event.

"I see. Well, we will see." Croagunk said, shrugging

"Yeah." Replied mesprit, sipping on her drink.

"Anyway, I have a few questions for you if you don't mind." Croagunk asked carefully. He wasn't sure if he was even allowed to ask questions to such an high being or if he was going to be answered. However, he suddenly felt much more at ease somehow. It was as if he suddenly was rid of his apprehension.

"Shoot" Said Mesprit without looking up from her book what she continued reading. However, behind her book, a soft smile was on her lips. She hoped that the little push she had given the frog to be more open had worked. Seeing how his features had softly relaxed, she knew that she was successful.

"So, I am well aware of who you are and what is your status. So it leads me to ask, forgive my curiosity..." The frog paused for a moment for emphasis before he spoke up again "..There is a rumor that states that if someone ever have a physical connection with you, that individual will lose all emotions three days later. Is this really true?''

Mesprit looked up at him seriously. "I can't answer you that for the sake of my safety. So, I leave it up to your imagination." she replied mysteriously

Croagunk just nodded in understanding. It would make sense she would not share personal stuff publicly. But as he thought in his head, he felt that he already knew the answer. After all, how many times had he seen Mesprit touching Tapu Koko, her brothers, Victini...ect...
None of them had ended up as an empty shell. So, this rumor had to be false, he mused in his mind.

"Now, it is my turn to ask you a question" Mesprit said quietly, bringing the blue frog out of his reverie.

''Ask away Mesprit.'' Said Croagunk, sitting back comfortably on his seat.

"Why you joined that revenge club?" Asked the host with a soft voice as to not bring all attention on her.

"Revenge club?" Croagunk asked in confusion, not sure where the being of emotion was going with this.

"Sneasel, Ninetailes, Wartortle and you formed a secret group a few months back. "Said Mesprit curiously. "You don't look like someone who belong to such category of people. So, why did you join them?"

"Ah that," Croagunk said knowing well what she meant.

"It was just a cover up. I do not care much about their group. But, as a player I needed to do that to able survive and prevent myself being voted off."

"I see. Now, though, what will you do, I was under the impression that you don't need to go there anymore." Mesprit asked

"It is a deep of fresh air. In the end, it was worth it as I am still here, but it isn't worth it anymore. Especially Ninetales. That Bitch is far too dangerous to be around. I am glad to be gone" He smiled

Mesprit smiled back. She can sense from him how grateful he is, this team role thing ended finally.

"Okay so my turn. Do you have any close friends? And so, did you had in the past too?"

"Yes I have. Tho, I did not had much time due to my duty, but when I could, I could connected with people and pokemon whose I felt worth to trust in. As a being who can see inside of others, it is hard to find a trustworthy person you see." Mesprit said sadly. "I still visit their graves time to time. It is sad they are no longer with me..but the memories what they and I shared will never going to be forgotten. Because I do not allow that." She smiled sadly.

"Croagunk nodded. As a mortal, he can't imagine how she went through about everyone who she formed some kind of bound, got old and died later. It must had been hard for her for sure.

The two spend a few hours talking to each other before Mesprit closed it saying she has to go back to do her stuff. Break was over and the frog understood it.

Both stood up and went to their separate ways. Croagunk was happy he had a luck to know such important being like her.

Like this a week was spent. There was a night, then there was a day, and on that specific day...

''WAKE UP MAGGOTS AND GET TO THE FRONT OF YOUR SHACKS...!'' Said a loud voice on speakers, making most contestants jump out of their bed. Some of them even jumped out of their windows in shock.

''What was that for you jackass?!'' Shouted Bidoof in indignation.

''I almost burned my bed to bits because of you...I was having such a nice dream too...'' Complained Monferno as he rubbed his eyes

''Let me help you my beloved...'' Said Gengar, who hadn't morphed back into her Lopunny form but still cradled Monferno and absorbed his fatigue and drowsiness, making the monkey feel significantly better.

''Thanks for that claws..'' Said Monferno, appreciative.

Hattrem shivered. ''That was just creepy as heck. Seriously, what does he see in her...?'' She muttered lowly to herself.

Fraxure growled, turning to the electric guardian holding his laughter. ''So what is this about? Make it quick before I shoot you down from where you float...

Tapu Koko whistled. ''Whoa, apparently, starting to train with Mienshao sure hasn't quenched your impulsiveness. I cannot believe it...'' He said, chuckling

The dragon type growled and made a step forward.

Tapu Koko looked at her competitively, but shook his head. Now wasn't the proper time to fight.

''To answer the question of the rodent. This is the proper way to make you guys remember that this is a competition. And..it is also a congratulations to all of you!'' He said with happiness.

''What for ?'' Asked Roserade, inquisitive.

Sneasel smirked. It seemed that his hunch had been correct. ''We made it this far huh?'' he said, smiling for the first time in a very, very long time.

''Indeed Sneasel. Welcome to the merge! You all have done well!'' Said Tapu Koko as he let out an electric arc that exploded in fireworks.

Mesprit appeared behind them then spoke up cause them to turn back at her direction.

"Because of this, We allow you to destroy the shacks as a symbol of the end of an era and the new beginning of one." She smiled. " Both Tapu Koko and I also very grateful that you all helped make this show really great. Without all of your help, this project wouldn't end up as successful as it is. So, thank you."

Everyone cheered and clapped at that. Well, everyone but Alolan Ninetales and Sneasel. Both had a focused look on their faces...althought Sneasel had a small smirk. Small mercies, it would seem. As for Alolan Ninetales, she growled at Mesprit. She couldn't wait for the moment that she would humiliate this little pixie.

Tapu Koko and Mesprit as well as the contestants walked toward the shacks and with a flash, Mesprit gave personalized bags to every contestants which contained their Belongings.

"What's with the bag spawn?" Asked Bidoof, curious about the whole thing.

Tapu Koko stepped up to respond. "It would take too long to have you retrieve your things in the shacks before you go Kaizo Gabar on them. So Mesprit graciously granted you bags that could contain every thing that you had. You should feel honored, those bags are extremely rare now." He explained with a pirouette in the air.

Metang nodded. "There are currently only a few of them left in circulation, with a future production probability of below 1%. Quite honestly, it is quite fortunate that we have received these as a gift." He noted with a soft nod.

"Well then, don't mind if I do..." Said Monferno happily as he picked a bag for himself and one for his beloved ghost, who couldn't help but blush when he gave it to her with his big smile of his.

Lapras had a thought for her two suns back home now. She grabbed her bag and put it on her shell with teary eyes.

Hattrem also looked pretty pensive and solemn as she took her bag as she looked at Monferno and Gengar. A part of her still was aching as she saw her crush having a cute moment with the ghost/poison type.

She still wanted to slap the Monkey silly, especially with the ruckus he was making, but in the end sighed.

*000*

"If he's happy with the ghost, maybe I shouldn't interfere... I'll find my prince charming one day..." Said a resignated Hattrem as the camera turned static

*000*

The other contestants picked up their bag, their reaction mixed, but overall very positive.

It was the Merge after all, they had all made it this far.

Tapu Koko , seeing that everyone had taken their bag, nodded to each other.

"Alright Merge contestants, you have now gained the right to proceed to the first shack destruction festival of Sosei Island. You will be allowed to do one Move each. Then, Me and Koko will deliver the coup de grâce. Is that understood?" Asked Mesprit as she shimmered in light and dressed up in a superb blacken blue dress , complete with dark blue feeler band and glitters on her veil shal, creating a beautiful ensemble that had Ninetales Growling in jealousy.

*000*

Alolan Ninetales was multipicating the growls in the confessional She was more and more aggravated about Mesprit's constant reminder of her superior beauty.

"Everytime she does this...I want to just leak the information I have to the sickest tabloid ever...but now is not the time to do that...But I hate her so much..." She said as she swiped at the camera, almost breaking it.

*000*

Every Pokemon lined up, their eyes full of competitiveness and pride.

Mesprit and Koko smiled and lifted their arms.

"For Sosei and the World!" They both screamed before letting their Arm fall.

"I shall win it all! Dark Pulse!" Said Sneasel as he launched a beam of pure black energy toward the Zamazenta Shack.

Monferno seeing this growled competitively. "Not if I have something to say about this! Thanks for that training, Mienshao! Eat the flames of Apocalypse! Fire Blast!" He continued as he launched a Devastating Jet of flames toward the Zacian shack, setting it on fire.

"I Will do everything to win and protect my beloved!" Continued Lopunny? As she charged a shadow ball and launched it at the Zacian shack, melding with the fire and changing its color to blackish purple flames.

"I am not that fond of wanton destruction, but why not join everyone?" Then added Roserade as she directed a Leaf Storm attack at the Zamazenta shack.

"There is 1% chance that the shack cannot endure the onslaught of every pokemom here before the hosts finish it off, but why not test to see if there is a X factor that will turn my analysis on its head..." Metang said with his usual monotone voice as he charged an Hyper Beam and launched it at the Zamazenta shack

Bidoof stepped in, shrugging. "It was fun to be in there. Now the time has come to say goodbye to it. And to my comfort as I knew it. Anyway, it is not like everything has to change...I can still annoy that idiot rooster and try to woo the hot host... What? I can't find a womon attractive?" He asked as he charged a Ice Beam and launched it on the Zacian Shack

Lapras had a thought toward her friends, tribe and family ans her gaze hardened. "I won't lose myself in competition, but I will prevail. No Lapras made it this far, ever. I want to show little Triton that you can do anything if you are willing. Thank you, for everything, Shacks. You were the cradle of my new life!" She said with Reverance before launching a Massive Hydro Pump that pierced straight throught the Zamazenta shack, making more than one Pokemon widen their eyes at her.

"Where was Nessie hiding this kind of power?" Questionned Croagunk as he shot his vollet of Sludge Bombs to the Zacian Shacks

Wartortle was a bit conflicted about Alolan Ninetales, but he was still here. And he was still going to win...or mayne push Ninetales to win? He had started to care less and less about himself lately. He didn't know if it was a good thing or not.

"For now though, I am doing well and I have the hottest chick on the Island that isn't Legendary. Let's keep this shit going, shall we?" He said as he shot his own Hydro Pump toward the Zacian Shack.

Alolan Ninetales had been struggling to keep a powerful cough from taking over. She would rather die than show anyone that she was in fact very ill. Not even her boytoy could know. That is why she had messed with his memories before. However, she could see that she wasn't throughrough before. Wartortle was occasionally looking at her fur and maw with a pensive expression. As if he was reminiscing. As such, she had to do much more effort to making forget during their...sessions. To her chagrin, it only seemed to work for a time, allowing Wartortle to perform to her standards. It helped pushing the symptoms away, yes, but it also meant that the stress of the game and her own growing hatred for Mesprit and Tapu Fini made her symptoms that much harsher and closer in episodes.

"Rahhh why am I thinking of that now!?" She growled as she charged a Moonblast and shot it in frustration toward the Ablaze shack. Unbeknowst to her, a small, almost invisible trinkle of blood trailed from her mouth and stained her beautiful pale pink fur. Wartortle was it and frowned.

Hattrem smiled as she let her camera out to live stream the event, but said camera was removed from her by Mesprit's psychic powers.

"Sorry sweetie. But this will not be allowed to be live streamed. I've been liberal as a thank you, but you understand that with the Merge being there, I want the world to discover at the same time what's happening here. Before doing anymore videos, you shall come see me, understood?" She said kindly enough, but Hattrem felt the edge and the coercition in her voice. Hattrem wasn't stupid. She knew better than to disobey Mesprit. She nodded submissively as she focused a psybeam attack and launched her attack at the Zacian shack.

Falinks roared in unison. ''FOR OUR COUNTRY AND OUR CITY, WE SHALL BE SUCCESSFUL. STONE EDGE!'' They shouted as they launched their sharp, rocky projectiles toward the Zamazenta shack.

Fraxure smiled hazardfully. ''Finally, the chance to rush these fools to oblivion has presented itself. I will go completely crazy if I don't attack now! RAAAAHHHH''

She said as she launched a violent Dragon Pulse toward the Zamazenta shacks.

Finally, the cowering dunsparce, who was still happy to have made it to the merge, was full of insecurities with the way her pendant had lost all of its warmth and had almost led to her elimination.

"I don't know if I can do this anymore..." She said sadly as she halfheartedly launched a swift attack toward the Zamazenta shack

Tapu koko and Mesprit smiled. All the merge contrstants had launched their attacks and seemingly made their peace.

"Shall we, beautiful Mesprit?" Said Koko in a suave voice

Mesprit giggled. "You actually sound pretty good with that voice tone Koko. Try it out on your girls when you have the chance. For now though, indeed, let's go!" She said with a bright smile.

Tapu Koko clapped his arms together, a powerful pink energy forming in between his arms and around him.

Mesprit started chanting in an unknown language, seemingly predating even ancient sinooan. Her form glew a golden pink, quickly dwarfing everyone in both pressure and power.

Every Pokemon felt that power, and they trembled. Just how much power did Mesprit truly had... Nobody had ever asked themselves that seeing how small and cutesy Mesprit was. But not they felt the sheer weight of her power, and it almost paralized them. The only thing that kept them going was Mesprit purposely soothing their instinctive fear with her powers.

When her eyes snapped open, she almost exploded with light, turning her head toward Koko who almost lost himself of her now golden eyes. It was the most beautiful he had seen her.

"Come on Koko, now isn't the time to regress to an adoring puppy you know..." She mocked him

Koko snapped out of it and made a face. "You did that on purpose! Anyway... This power is our offering to the success of this show. Nature's Madness!" He said as he showered the Zamazenta and the Zacian shack with myriads of pink bullets.

Mesprit smirked. She too could have fun. Releasing around 50% of her real power so the others actually understood her place in the hierarchy was mostly her teasing. She would never use her full power here as it could vaporize the Island Koko and the interns had worked their blood and sweat to build.

"I am so proud of everyone here. Those who didn't make it here but had the courage to sign up. Those who found their true selves. Those who are struggling. Those who pushes past their expectations and limitations. This is merely my appreciation toward you all. May i get to destroy the shacks, and by proxy, the shackles of their potential. Mystical power!" She said as the entirety of both shacks were covered in a powerful Golden Light, creating a massive explosion. Mesprit and Tapu Koko immediately used their powers to direct the explosion toward the sky, where it turned into pretty fireworks and light show, making oos and ahhs erupt from around the Island, as Pokemon living there or the interns who had had a day off watched in awe.

Chef Throh smirked from his Kitchen. They were already at the merge, these lads.

"Good Luck, ush." He said with his arms crossed.

The Gogoat walked out of his library and nodded sagely.

"May Arceus guides you, contestants. It is only going to be harder from here..."

Primarina was washing a glass outside, smiling. So much things had happen in that lounge of hers. She smiled.

" I hope that once this is over, you can come back here and have a nice drink.

Arceus was standing atop her place at the Hall of Origin. It was more empty now that she had decreeted that it would be a place of Gathering for the Legendaries and no longer a permanent residence, but at the very least, she could be entertained by watching the world in peace or enjoy continued privacy with Giratina.

"You are doing well, Mesprit. I cannot wait to see what else you have in store..." She said warmly as she used her powers to make a ray of faint golden light shine upon Sosei Island.

Mesprit smiled broadly. She knew what that light meant and she felt honored to the point that her eyes watered slightly.

Koko saw this and grew a bit worried. "Are you okay Mes?" He asked kindly.

Mesprit wiped her eyes. "Yes Koko. I am. I am just moved because the womon upstairs seems to approve our show." She said

Tapu Koko felt a great deal of pride erupt in his chest. That was one hell of an honor indeed. But he shook his head. They could always celebrate later. Now they had a merge to start off.

"I agree with you. I am more than just moved, but we gotta carry on now. He won't wait for us forever..." He said.

In a dark cave, a big shadow was impatiently tapping his foot on the ground, wondering when the maggots he had to challenge would finally be there and he hated waiting for too long. He had the coordinate of the Island and was half tempted to teleport them all there right now.

Back on the Island, Mesprit nodded and lowered herself toward the contestants.

Bidoof was the first to speak up upon their arrival. "Hey Mesprit. What was that before? You have a Golden form now?" He asked

By the look of the other Pokemon, they also wanted to know.

Mesprit had though. "It is not a form, but when I channel my true power, it comes out as a Golden colored aura. Surely it also shows how actually powerful i am right?" She said with a that induced terror in Bidoof.

"And my dumbass has been hitting on THAT? What's with womon and stupid powerful hidden power?" He thought as he shuffled back a little, making the others chuckle.

"Looks like your bravado don't give you enough balls." Wartortle said, cackling.

"I don't wanna hear this from a glorified sex toy" bit back an embarassed Bidoof.

Wartortle growled and stepped toward the beaver before being held back by a cold tail, Ninetales looking beyond bored at this point.

Tapu Koko also bit back a snarky remark before activating electric Surge, making everyone look back at him again with his sheer presence alone.

Mesprit smiled at this. Koko was learning good.

Koko then took the lead. "Alright contestants, now that the shacks are pretty lights in the sky, the merge can start. As you understand, you guys are no longer in teams. There also will no longer be a vote to decide who comes off. We decided this as to limit the influence of Politics in the final decision. Also we have observed in other games if this genra that so many times we'd have the vote switching, coercicion ect happening and we aint about that right now. Only your prowess and strategic mind will prevail here. Essentially, at the end of each challenge, the last 2 or 3 least performing Pokemon shall be given a trial to overcome. The one that will not overcome it shall be automatically eliminated. Now, the next challenge will take place...NOW!" He said as a bright flash blinded all of them.

And thus, they were gone...

After the flash, everyone opened their eyes. They found themself front of a big cave entrance. There was a nice river close to the entrance, with a few curious Poliwags watching the big group that suddenly appeared in front of the cave.

The group in question also confused about their whereabouts...well everyone but one.

"Where are we?" Roseraid asked.

"This can't be... Why are we here?" Asked Wartortle, his eyes wide in shock.

"You know this place, butch?" Asked Alolan Ninetales, a little incomoded by the warmth

"Yes... I do. Originally, us Squirtles family are originated from this region. So the legend of this place is almost ingrained in our bones. This is..." He started

"Cerulean Cave in the Kanto region. This is where your proctor lives." Said Tapu Koko as he pointed towards the cave.

"Proctor? What is this, the Frogadier exams?" Chuckled Bidoof.

"I wouldn't mind. It was famous in that show about the Poliwhirl who wanted to be Hikage." Said Monferno, his flame burning bright in anticipation.

"Don't be rash now sweetie, we don't know what to expect now. And...this cave feels intense...i don't know why." Said the Lopunny morph, squeezing Monferno's hand in search of comfort.

Monferno nuzzled her cheek and squeezed her hand reassuringly, which brought a smile to the ghost type's face.

"Well, let's not make our host wait too long. Let's go inside." Encouraged Mesprit as everyone followed.

Everyone entered the cave and looked around. The place was pretty with so many different crystals hanging on the walls and ground. There were many Pokemon roaming around the cave. It looked etheral, almost like a gatheway to another world even. As the group walked, Tapu Koko and Mesprit gave exposition on how the cave came to be, back when humans still walked the plane.

''This cave was created long ago, after the humans had tried to create an abomination that didn't work out. The fallout of that experiment filled this cave with mystic like powers. Thus it was sealed out of human reach until another Human experiment came along and claimed this place as its home.

''Who was that Pokemon?'' Asked Hattrem, inquisitively.

"That would be me..." A grave voice said, startling everyone but the two legendary Pokemon present.

He was pink and tall. His entire form exuded power. He was wearing black Khaki pants and a black Tank Top. Around him, hiding in his shadow was a few baby Pokemon like smoochums, pichus, Elekids and what not. It painted a strange contrast with him but nobody dared point it out. His strong looking tail fluttered impatiently around before slapping on the ground, creating a crater and making the contestant gulp in fear.

The creature looked at them in silence at first before he spoke.

"You guys have made me wait. How will you make up for it?" He asked turning toward Tapu Koko and Mesprit.

"I suppose giving you the location of the Mewtwonite would be enough no?" Replied an ounce of fear.

The contestants gasped. So this was the Legendary Pokemon, Mewtwo.

Tapu Koko cleared his throat to explain the situation.

"During the Merge, we will travel the regions and accomplish a trial set by me and the different local legendaries. Today, Mewtwo here is going to be your Protor." He explained as Mewtwo nodded gravely before stepping forward.

"So first thing. If i spot any of you revealing that I take care of orphaned baby Pokemon, I will personally introduce you to the ground, where you will stay for quite a long time. Got it?'' He said with a death stare

All contestants nodded with fear. Satisfied, the feline looking Mewtwo continued.

"Your challenge will be to overcome the trial set by the three Avians of the Elements, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. They have agreed to help me as these three sisters owe me favors from the time humans were still on this plane. You are tasked to bring back to me three orbs. The orbs of flame, the orb of Ice and the Orb of lightning. Those who do shall be declared the winner of this trial. Of course, we don't have all day, so you'll be sent in groups of four to each of the bird's location. You are to scale their domain and you might have to battle them for their orbs. Be prepared! They will not be easy to acquire.'' He said with a cocky smirk

Tapu Koko stepped up to add something. ''I will use this opportunity to present a secondary objective to you to make things interesting. I call it the Ticket Treasure Trail, or Triple T for short. During the Merge, you shall be given secondary objectives that will net you tickets that will be kept track by me and my analytics team. By completing secondary objectives, you shall be given these tickets. If you have enough tickets, some very nice perks will be given to you. What these perks are? You shall see in time. As we are the one attribution the tickets, exchange or coercition won't be possible. So don't think that extortion will work. You will also be expressly forbidden to disclose how much tickets you have to other players. We will use an honor system for now, but we aren't above physically render you incapable of breaking this rule, as you can imagine. Crossing me or the lovely Mesprit over here is not an avenue I would suggest you all to take. For now, Mewtwo, explain the secondary objective of today's challenge, if you would?''

Mewtwo smiled. This one had much spunk. He liked that. ''Of course. My little ones here always wanted to go see these places, but they are too harsh for them. So you will be getting them souvenirs... Each area have rare items in them. Those who bring some to me will be given a certain number of tickets. I've told you everything you need to know. Now go!'' He said before he teleported them at random away.

''How will you bring them back here though?'' Asked Koko, a bit curious.

''Your hot Host will. She has the power.'' He said with a smile.

''Really? You too?'' Asked Koko

Mewtwo shrugged. ''You truly have no idea how Mesprit's popularity has shot up since the show started. It feels like it should have been obvious, but Us legendary Pokemon also actually are Pokemon. As such, we have a certain degree of attraction. The legendary Trio was never looked at in this way, but even I have to admit that she looks great when she dresses up...'' He commented, oblivious to the very much blushing Mesprit who couldn't look at him any more, embarassed.

Koko turned toward the Emotion embodiment. ''See Mes? I am not the only one...'' He said with a bright smile.

''It sure appears so...'' Said Mesprit, very much embarrassed.

* 000 *

Mesprit floated in the confessional, beet red. ''I didn't realize how right Fuyuko was when she encouraged me to dress up...but...it does feel nice to know that I still have retained much of my appeal finally...but don't tell that to anyone or i'll steal your emotions away...kyaaah!'' She said as she cutely waved at the camera, making it go static.

* 000 *

Sneasel, Ninetales, Croagunk, Roserade and Metang appeared front of a huge vulcano which looked like it was almost close to erupt. But the worse wasn't exactly that. No. It the incredible heat which came out from the ground.

The players hardly could breathing not even moving.

However, Sneasel was determinated. ''There is no way I am letting this heat get to me. I will get the treasure and win this challenge!'' He said as he released a blade made of dark energy and entered resolutely inside the volcano who'se entrance read, Mt. Ember.

''Welp, no time like the present yo. That heat is bad for my dry skin ability, but nothing I can do but Go!'' He rapped as he walked inside, jumping quickly in order to gain ground.

Roserade felt like she was going to faint. Really? The first challenge of the merge had her climbing an active Volcano? For the first time in the entire show, she genuinely felt like cursing the Gods. How would she even be able to walk before either catching on fire or melt into a puddle exactly? Using water sport, a move she thought she would never need after evolving, she started walking wobbily inside the volcano.

*000*

Roserade was panting in the confessional. ''This will certainly be difficult...'' She said as her skin visibly was starting to melt away

*000*

Ninetales was paralized on the spot. She couldn't step forward. Her entire vision was already wobbly because of the heat. If she entered the cave, it would be immediate suicide. She tried to make a step, using her pride to force her body to remain standing. She made another step, cursing Mesprit as she suspected that she had Mewtwo sent her here in order to mock her or screw her into failing. However, a quick blow to her side ripped her counsciousness from her and she fainted immediately.

Behind her, Metang looked at her with an unreadable look in his eyes. his red glowing fist cooling off. He then proceeded inside the mountain, noting that the probability of it erupting was very high... if the smoke coming from the top of the mountain wasn't indication enough...

*000*

Metang looked at the camera with an unblinking gaze. ''That fox had 0% chance of making it alive out of this mountain, but her pride would have had her try anyway. I decided to spare her a painful death on a whim. She might not take it like that, but for my calculations to go right, I need her here a little longer and alive. Of course, it could mean that she will be in the running of her going home, but that's a gamble I am risking to take...'' Said Metang with some light in his eyes, betraying his amusement.

*000*

Monferno, Falinks, Haunter, Fraxure and Bidoof ended up in front of a snowy cave. The area was oddly sorrounded by a beautiful aurora that covered the entire sky. There was a pletora of aquatic and Ice type around the Island. Nearby, a small village made of mostly Igloos seemed to exist and in front of that village entrance was a giant statue of a beautiful Ice bird. The town didn't seem too active at that moment but it was clear that the cavemand that town were linked.

"Are you kidding me?! Ice and Snow?" They must be joking! I don't want to die here...'' She complained as she activated dragon dance in order to warm up quickly.

''This looks like Seafoam abode, home to Seafoam Island, the roosting cave of Articuno'' Said Gengar, looking around and finally taking her Lopunny morph in order to keep warm.

Monferno smiled. ''It's a pretty place. I wonder if we can go to the village?'' He commented.

Lopunny? rolled her eyes. ''I kind of want to check this place out but at the same time, we kind of need to get to Articuno's location and get her treasure. She said before she spotted something. Her eyes glinted and she dissapeared''

''Where you'd go?'' Called Monferno, shocked by her sudden dissapeareance.

Bidoof used that opportunity to approach Monferno. ''So i've been wondering, Monferno. What actually attracts you to her? I mean she looks hot as a Lopunny but she's a Gengar. Outside your egg group, outside your normal prefered mate species. So what gives?'' He asked truly.

Monferno smirked. ''A guy like you wouldn't truly get it. But It's not really Gengar's looks that makes me love her. It's her heart. She's precious, even with all of her flaws and struggles. I won't give up on her, no matter what happens.'' He said with a tender smile on his face.

Bidoof shrugged. ''I don't know if it is you being idealistic and naive or you genuinely being mature enough to understand what being in love with a ghost type truly means, but you do you. I'm going to go in the village to secure some goods. I don't feel like getting blown up to bits today...'' He decided before waddling toward the village.

As he was waiting for his beloved ghost, Monferno tried to play with the snow by making snow statue and the sort. Yes this was the merge and yes it was a competition, but Monferno didn't feel like he would do better without Gengar. There was no rule about helping or not helping each other so why would he rush? With Gengar, there was no way they could fail anyway. She would come eventually, he thought as he made yet another snow sculpture of him and her, laughing at his own silly creation.

''Is that what I truly look like?'' asked an amused voice that peined to keep her composure

Monferno recognized the voice and pouted. ''I did my best here you know, but it's hard to keep it well put together with my internal temperature and all...'' He complained as he turned toward Gengar, who was gazing at him tenderly, two scarfs in her hand.

''You really are adorable...you know?'' cooed Gengar as she kissed the monkey's cheek, making passing seels and Dewgongs make whistling sounds. Monferno felt like dissapearing under the snow as the ghost type laughed.

''I got us some scarfs by the way. I felt they would look quite good on us.'' She explained as she handed the fire/ fighting a beautiful red scarf.

''Thank you sweetie...They look amazing...'' He said as he wrapped the scarf around his neck, then gratifying his girlfriend with a tender kiss on her cheek.

''I love you...'' He said softly, making Gengar's heart skip a beat. Flustered, the ghost type looked down, a powerful warmth heating the dept of her soul.

''I...We...love you...'' She quietly replied back, making her eyes widen in surprise. Monferno didn't get it right but understand the I love you. He grabbed the Loppuny Morph's hand warmly.

In Lopunny's headspace, Gengar was sitting on a lounge like space. She smiled. ''He makes me feel loved and wanted just like you do. Of course I would fall for him. And he's strong too boot. I honestly don't mind sharing at all...'' She explained as she laughed

''Don't ruin it for me then!'' Said Loppuny said.

Gengar looked bored. ''Well, if you don't want to ''ruin'' it. You gotta let me indulge in our true nature. We are a Gengar. A ghost type. As such, we have cravings, we have things to do, we have ways to feed and grow stronger that are not like the other Pokemon. Yes, we can eat and survive on Berries, but you know, causing mayhem and feeding on the emotions stirred by those. I've been nice, but I also have to keep you from dissapearing as you surely will if you don't accept your nature as a Gengar, so, If you don't mind, you will let me take over when the need comes or be ready to lose everything you old dear...'' Warned the ghost type as Lopunny returned to reality.

* 000 *

"Claws...claws?'' Asked a confused Monferno as Lopunny snapped back to her senses.

''I'm sorry...I was...distracted for a moment. Did you say anything?'' She asked kindly, her smile a bit strained, which didn't go unnoticed by the monkey.

''I said that we should probaby check out the cavern now. We got to handle the Challenge now.'' He said as he rearranged the scarf so it covered his nose and mouth, looking like a ninja. As a fire type, he didn't really need any clothes but he couldn't refuse Gengar's kindness.

''Indeed love. Let's go then. We need to hurry after all..'' She said as she walked toward the cave's entrance with pep in her step. She didn't want her boyfriend to worry too much.

*000*

This will be difficult...I can feel her getting restless. But i'll help you...Gengar... Said Monferno in the confessional, looking resolute.

*000*

Way ahead of them, the Falinks little army already had left to enter the cave. It was a beautiful cave, with frequent Aurora borealis painting the roof of the cave with many beautiful colors like green, red and yellow. Surprisingly, the cave seemed to be containing a settlement, with many igloos and caves acting as home. The first floor had snow and some Ice spikes jutting at random from it. It was quite mystical. Some ice formations were so pure one could see each other like it would be on a mirror. The little Army certainly stood out around the Seel, Dewgongs, Slowpoke and slowbro walking around. They even spotted a white and red Pokemon that looked like a messenger that approached them.

The Phalanx leader told his brass to stay alert as he walked toward the Pokemon.

''Greetings strangers, I am Deliry, the Delibird. I also act as the elder of this community. You are?'' He asked politely.

''Greetings Deliry. I am Leonidas, the leader of this Falinks phalanx. I come today for a...'' he started before he was stopped by Deliry.

''Challenge...I know. Queen Articuno notified us. You are the first to enter our community and you haven't started destroying everything. As a token of our appreciation, please take this nevermeltice. As for the Queen, you can enter her domain by solving the Ice puzzle further down. The Gards will let you pass.'' He said as he pointed toward two beartics that were standing in front of what looked like stairs made of Ice.

Falinks nodded in respect and left the company of the elder, with the Falinks waddling organizedly toward the Ice puzzle location, preparing to battle for the glory of their city.

''Let's go, Phalanx. We can do this!''

Fraxure was not having any luck it seemed. Despite her brave attempt to tune out the bite of the cold, her dragon typing and warm climate adaptation made her suffer like very few times in her life. It was definitely an hostile environment. Despite the sporadic use of her famed dragon dance, the constant breeze of Cold air might have as well act as a constant haze, supressing her boosts and by extension her chances at surviving such a stormy weather.

Eventually, the Dragon type grew quite weary of such intense cold and with a might roar of frustration, launched her dragon rush attack straight toward a wall nearby, utterly destroying it in a loud, crunching sound.

Stunned, the Dragon took several seconds to reorient herself. "Owww...that's going to hurt next morning..." She grunted painfully as she got back on her feet and looked around. The place she was now in looked like it was taken straight out a fairy tale. It looked absolutely etheral and magnificent. The wall were a beautiful crystal blue. The same blue that seemed to coat the floor as well. Etheral spikes of clear ice were jutting off the ceiling or the ground.

Aurora borealises were covering the ceiling in etheral showers of red, green, yellow and neon blue lights, which reflected of the walls and floor to an almost blinding effect. Mesmerized, Fraxure sat down and watched. She progressively forgot why she was there, the show of natural beauty seemingly seizing her mind. She hard hardly saw something so beautiful yet calming in her life of constant fighting and rushes. It was like this lightshow had Connected a part of the Dragon that had very much been buried deep. Very deep.

"These lights...they remind me of the lights of the sunsets atop Reversal Mountain...so pretty..." She cooed as she stared at them for a while... Monferno and Gengar at long last entered the cave, hands in hands. They were greeted by some of the villagers who pointed to the Beartics, saying that some foreign Pokemon had also made their way toward the domain of the queen, which Gengar deduced was Articuno herself.

Both Pokemon were hard at work, discusing about how they would have to handle possibly fighting the legendary bird for her treasure "Your firepower and newly acquired fighting prowess since you started training should come in handy against her. But I am also apprehensive because it is said that this Articuno is very very powerful" Said Haunter as she squeezed the monkey's hand in apprehension. "Your ghost type abilities and trickery will also be of great use. We do not need to only approach this challenge from a purely battling standpoint. Honestly, as much as I enjoy a good battle, I learned the adventages of being flexible, Claws.

My training with Mienshao has opened my eyes to a lot of ways to defeat an opponent after all." Monferno said in return as the two walked deeper and deeper inside the cave. Gengar smiled. "Look at you saying smart things..." She teased with a kiss on the monkey's cheek, who turned beet red at that. Both Pokemon eventually reached the beartics, who, aware of the challenge their queen would propose to them, let them pass with a small grunt of acknowledgement.

They did warn the pair to be careful as they had heard quite a loud noise coming from deeper inside the cave, but they had assumed it was just the aftermath of the challenge happening. Thankful for the information, the two Pokemon descended into the depths of the cave and arrived enventually to the same room Fraxure had been earlier. "Wow...this place looks amazing..." Said Gengar as she dropped her furry morph in surprise. Monferno smiled. "It is still less beautiful than you are, claws..." He said nicely. Gengar blushed. She knew that the Monkey was just being a dear, especially now that she was back to her Gengar form.

"You just cannot stop being nice, can you? You are asking for it now..." She said in a Sultry voice that made Monferno jump in surprise. "Claws?! What the heck!" He said as his fur turned redder and redder. He quickly calmed down as he saw Gengar licking her lips, as if she just had a good meal.

"Thanks for the meal love..." She said semi darkly before her morph resumed, leaving her very flustered. "What was that? " asked Monferno, confused at of what had just happened. "Long story love...i'll tell you it later.. " she promised him "Okay.." said Monferno as they started to navigate the frozen floor together.

000

Lopunny was staring at the Camera in horror. " You can't just take over whenever you'd like!" She said to nobody in particular it seemed. "I told you that I would indulge in our true nature more and more. Beside, how the hell could I hold back teasing him when he is being such a sweetheart? I know what you really thought of doing to him when he said that. You can't hide from me..." Wraith replied back as the Lopunny morph blushed so much her purplish fur turned red.

000

Monferno was staring at the confessional. "I know that she can be frisky at time but she had been such a good job at reinging it in. I might be in trouble the next time we are alone together..." He tought, shuddering in an odd mix of fear and anticipation.

*000*

As the players were fighting against the heat and the cold, the last few pokemon remaining to catch up with ended up in a not so pretty area.

Hattrem, Wartotle, Lapras and Dunsparce worriedly looked around in the Power Plant building where they had appeared. It looked like it had just been the theather of a war movie. There were intimidating craters everywhere around the power plant. Scarce of Vegetation, the scent of charred berries and scorched earth was overpowering. Even the land itself seemed completely devoid of any Pokemon. The atmosphere filled with a near constant downpour coming straight out a disaster movie wasn't helping either.

Hattrem didn't like where this was going. She felt in her bones that something scary, very scary, was lurking inside the plant. It took every ounce of willpower she had to move toward the large building as everyone else did.

However, it was more easy than done.

Especially since, as if it had come alive, the downpour turned into a violent storm, with thunder raging around the area and lightning quickly rendering the skies, illuminating the whole area in powerful flashes that looked as bright as daylight.

With a terrified yelp, Hattrem went and hid under a sole tree, shaking uncontrollably as each subsequent thunder noise and lightning flashes rip a scream out of her. She couldn't move an inch out of terror, and she couldn't bear even looking outward, tears streaming down her face.

"Hahah what's the matter princess? Are you afraid from some electric pulses? You should had been thinking about it before you decide to join a game like this." The turtle laughed, as suddenly a lightning bolt hit the ground near him. The sound was so loud that both of them had to cover their ears.

Despite that, the turtle never showed any fear. He resolutely stepped forward.

"See you later, you sniveling chicken." He waved as continued his way.

Hattrem was in tears. She hated to be seen this weak. Yamask's presence would have been nice right about now. A cop out, maybe, but the ghost type maid had always helped her go through rough times.

Fortunately, she felt two big flipper wrap around her.

"Don't listen to him. Everyone have fears. It is our job to face them and win." Said Lapras gently. "Storms are not somthing that should be taken lightily. They can be downright terrifying. So your fear has basis. But, that doesn't have to stop you from reaching your goals. Remember that."

Hearing her, Hattrem tried to calm herself and forced herself to keep going. Lapras was close to her, never letting her out of her sight.

Hattrem smiled thankfully at Lapras, holding on to her flippers "Thank you. You see, When I was little, Me and my sisters played outside one day. I was too energetic and accidenty fell into a hole. I was pretty stuck so my sisters ran for help since I couldn't make it out. As I waited, a storm appeared..a strong one at that. The lightningbolts were huge and strong as well, and two of them almost hit me.. Luckily my parents came and rescued me. But this marked me like I had seen the face of death" She said, shivering uncontrollably as she reminisced

"I understand. But do not worry, I will be here. You do not have to face it alone." lapras said, smiling warmly at her.

Back in Sosei, a tiny white and red bunny made it to the compound. He was wearing a large black coat, concealing him from suspicious eyes. He moved silently, yet with purpose, his normally vibrant blue eyes darkened by resolve

"Good, no one spotted me yet." He wishpered to himself as he allowed himself to take a breather.

Suddenly, he spotted Koko flying across the camp. Just the mon he wanted to see. With the precision of a secret service agent, Victini teleported behind Koko and grabbed his shoulder wings. In an instant, they were back to his compound room before Koko even realized what was happening.

Startled, the Electric type was about to use his powers to defend himself before a stern force essentially robbed him from his motor senses.

Tapu Koko was even more unnerved, this power was unnerving. With difficulty, he managed to raise his head and saw with stupefaction that it was Victini, observing him with a grave look on his face.

"Good, you remained calm. That is very good. I didn't expect you to grow that much bro!" He complimented the totem Pokemon.

"Victini? Is that you? What's with the horrible getup? Where the hell have you been actually? Do you know how much we have been worrying about you?" Said the Electric type in rapid succession

"Yeah Its me.. Listen rooster, do not tell anyone I am here. I am in a mission right now!" He said seriously

"A mission? What kind of mission? Lemme get Mesprit real quick!" Koko said

"You will understand later, trust me. For now, I ask that you refrain from saying that you saw me, please." Replied Victini

"Alright...but Mesprit has to know you are here. She is boss...and she has been so worried about you." Said Koko seriously.

Hearing her name, Victini sighed. He was worried she might ruin his investigation... and he wasn't sure where to stand with her after what had happened that night. The night his beautiful therapist had become his predator. But Koko has right. Beside, he wouldn't be able to deny that he wanted to see her, to see if what he felt was what he thought.

"Alright. Let me do it then. Don't interfere, please." Victini waved before teleporting away, leaving Koko conflicted

Tapu Koko was happy to see Victini again, but he was very off putted. Victini's gaze was dark, focused. It was as if a part of him was not here, dead. Looking toward the Island, he furrowed his brows.

"What's actually going on with him?"

Mesprit was back on the Island as well, deciding to tidy things up while waiting for Mewtwo to give her the signal that his challenge had finished. It was also more because she was trying to escape a feeling of dread that came and left more and more often lately. Every time she reminded herself of a small, white furret bunny that was her patient, a wave of bile somehow made its way to her mouth. It felt like something was horribly wrong but yet she couldn't put her finger on it. It frustrated her to no end. Why couldn't she remember...and why had Victini essentially vanished since that day?

Suddenly, she felt a very familiar energy trying to sneak around the island. It was faint, very faint...but a crazy hope formed itself in her chest. For a reason that she wasn't completely counscious herself, she dropped what she was doing and followed the trail of that energy...

"Vivi...is that you?" She muttered, her heart swelling with hope.

000

Victini entered the Lounge as quietly as a ghost. The lounge was fairly occupied even at this time, the challengers being on a tour giving some well needed respite to the interns. However, they were not why Victini was there for. Quickly dodging the talking interns, overhearing relatively interesting bit of the everyday life on the island, the small fire type made it to Primarina's counter. Looking friendly enough, the victory pokemon introduced himself.

''Hey Primarina'' He said with a low voice.

The selkie turned toward the voice and was surprised to recognize Victini, cloaked in his dark cloak. She of course had been privy to a certain host's worry about him, and his presence was certainly an happening that she would be delighted to hear about. In a friendly matter, she greeted him back: ''How pleasent it is to see you again. How are you, Victini?'' She asked, putting the glass she was cleaning down.

Victini had to mentally shake himself in order to focus. His weakness to pretty women was still pretty bad, it seemed. Even worse than Koko's. The Selkie's pleasent voice was not doing him any favor. However, the small fire type regained control of himself quickly as he reminded himself of his mission.

"I am fine Primarina. However, I am on limited time, so I'll go strait to business. First, I ask of you that you do not mention that I am here or that I talked to you with anyone. Secondly, let's go to another, more private place to talk, I have some questions for you." He said softly, but sternly.

"You could have invited me to dinner first, you know?" She said playfully. However, and much to her surprise, Victini's serious expression did not even change. Not even a blush appeared on his face, which was alien to what Mesprit had told of him and how he had been responding to charm before. Of course, she had only said this to diffuse the atmosphere, which was something she was used to do as a bar hostess, but quickly understood that Victini here was not one to take jokes, especially after seeing his eyes and being taken aback with how serious and focused they were. It was almost like he was an entire different Pokemon.

Understanding, the selkie hostess nodded. ''Very well, let's go to the VIP Lounge area, it is empty right now.'' She said as both Pokemon went deeper into the Lounge.

The interior of the lounge seemed to be even more intimate and private, with very low lights and deep purple couches and tables. It was definitely designed to be a place of discretion, no matter what happened inside would stay inside. Victini noted that it almost felt like a different dimension, which even his sharpened senses not being able to pick up the many lifeforms on the other side of the curtains. Even in his focused state, Victini had to admit that in other circumstances, this is a place he would have loved spending his nights.

''Savvy spot. I could almost get accustomed to it. Even those couches have no right to be this comfortable.'' Said the victory Pokemon as he settled on one such couch.

Primarina smiled, feeling not just a little amount of pride. ''I am glad that you like them. I had them made and ordered straight from the best company in the world.'' She boasted lightly, a cute, haughty laugh coming out of her adorable snout.

Victini chuckled a little before pulling out his notepad. ''On to business. I am currently on an investigation for an incident that happened a few weeks ago concerning Mesprit. I know that the night of the main incident, she was here drinking. I also know that she hadn't come back her to drink ever since. So have you noticed anything unusual that night?'' He asked the Loungekeeper.

Primarina started thinking, Putting a flipper under her chin "Well, quickly speaking, It started relatively uneventfully. I remarked that Mesprit was talking a lot with the muay thai frog, Croagunk. She seemed pretty entertained, which was relatively rare. I had never seen her really mingle with the contestant before, but with the way she was looking interested in what Croagunk was saying had me thinking she was fine.

Oddly enough, Victini's eyes had narrowed. In the deepest cranny of his soul, he didn't like the though of Mesprit showing interest in Croagunk, even if it was obviously conversational. He knew from therapy that Mesprit always was a very inquisitive and curious pokemonwomon. It wasn't that surprising in the slightest that one of the contestants would work up the courage...or the inconscience, to walk up to her at a bar and hit up a chat.

''Interesting...do continue.." he encouraged the selkie. If Primarina picked up the subtle edge that had manifested in his voice for a microsecond, she paid it no mind as she continued:

''Eventually, Mesprit did ask me to make her a few, stronger than usual drinks. She took them well, and eventually asked me for the composition of one of them. Never to be one to dissapoint the clientele, I performed a live drink in front of her, away from her glass that she had been drinking. We left it for maybe what, a minute or two, as other Pokemon watched me make the drink. Then, we went back to the drink and she finished it. It was after this drink that I saw the more changes in her demeanor.

Victini's eyes flicked up to Primarina's location when he hear that. That certainly had his attention. ''Changes? Such as?'' He pressed

''Well, aside of the cutest of blushes on her face, she looked a bit tipsy, which was a bit odd. She had taken stronger drinks than this and had hardly showed any signs of drunkeness. She had drank a lot though, but when I think about it, she shouldn't have been feeling that tipsy at that time, at least I believe it shouldn't have been so.

"I see... Did you notice anything else?." Asked Victini as he finished his notes on his notepad.

"Well, not really. After this, she mentionned being warm, and decided to leave. Which I encouraged because I could tell that she was nearing her limits." responded the water type.

"Alright. That's enough for now. Thank you a lot for your time. This will be very useful indeed." Victini smiled as he put his notepad and pen back into hammerspace.

"Your welcome. But, why did you wanted to.." started to ask the selkie, but she received no response, Victini having long teleported away, leaving a very puzzled Primarina behind

000

Primarina was staring at the confessional with a puzzled expression. ''While I am happy that he's there, for Mesprit's sake, what in the name of Arceus was those questions for? Did something happen that is related to the way I found Mesprit the morning after that night? I had sworn to Mesprit that I wouldn't talk about it... Are those two events even related?'' She asked to the camera before said camera turned static.

000

Mesprit was looking frantically on the Island. She could have sworn that she had picked up Victini's aura signature. She couldn't currently think about anything else. Rushing toward the intern pad, she had an intuition that Victini was there, somehow. The dutiful host didn't know how she would handle Victini just yet. She had been so worried. It had been quite enlightening, how she had realized how actually fond of the little bunny she had grown to be. Her friends had tried their best to calm her about his sudden dissapearance. She had been grateful, and the game certainly had proven to be more than enough distraction. However, she had never been able to shake that feeling of unease about not having the overly energetic fire type around.

Said fire type was currently seating in on his bed in the compound, still processing his conversation with Primarina. He was trying hard to manage his emotions as he hoped that the hypersensitive Goddess of emotions would not have picked his energy. Of course, he knew however that the chances were slim. He of course that Mesprit was on the Island that that the close bond they shared as therapist and patient, and subsequently as friends, must have made her much more sensitivite to his presence. Still he needed to remain focused on the task at hand.

''So Mesprit was away of her drink for around a minute or two. It's fairly dark in that lounge, a ploy to lower inhibitions. That moment of lapse must have been the critical factor in the incident...'' he reasoned before the sudden memory of a etherally beautiful Mesprit took hold of his mind.

She had looked so beautiful...so inviting, that time. Her honeyed words... Her glowing, hypnotic, bewitching golden eyes, even after all of this time he could still see them clearly if he wasn't careful.

Victini snarled, biting his lip until they bled. ''Fool! Now isn't the time to reminisce of that...we need to figure out what happened and colligate the information! Stop being a stupid horndog!'' He chastised himself, his heart burning with shame, emotional pain and longing.

No matter how much his mind reasoned that he needed to get to the bottom of this before he could bring himself to face the goddess of emotions again, he couldn't shake that realization that he had come to that night.

Ah yes...

He loved his therapist. It should have been forbidden, frowned upon. However, Victini's soul had been touched by Mesprit's kindness and therapy. Somehow, it always had felt like it was deeper than just a therapist and a patient. He knew that she truly cared for him and after what he had been through, it resonated with him. It was that realization that had saved him last time...

However, this time,

It seemed that it would doom him.

Victini looked at the clock in his room. With the time it showed, it was clear that he was overstating his welcome. He had to leave to continue gather evidence. He was afraid that his momentary lapse of focus would let his presence known.

''Better go...I shouldn't take the chance that I run into anyone i cannot handle right away...'' he muttered before preparing to teleport away.

However, he never had the time.

A soft, plaintive voice, echoed from the other side of the door to his room.

"Victini hey, are you here?"

000

Victini looked eyes wide in the confessional.

''SHIT!''

000

Victini's resolve melted like a castle built on sand. How was he supposed to ignore that tone? It tugged at his heartstrings stronger than the mighty grip of a Regigigas's Crush grip. It was honestly pitiful. However, he felt like he would be going insane if he didn't see her again. Talk to her again. Consequences be damned!

He quickly buried his notepad and other belongings back into hammerspace, tried to project a "I'm okay" attitude, and sprinted out the door. He opened it while secretly hoping that he would be able to get through this talk without losing his cool...or his life.

His breath caught in his throat when he saw the faerie of emotion. She was wearing a deep blue dress, with deep blue bands stylishly decorating her head feelers. It was exceedingly simple...yet,

It was the most beautiful he had seen her.

Mesprit's first impression was one of shock. Victini had lost so much weight. He looked in good health, but she would have recognized those bags under his eyes and the slight twitch of his rear wings any day of the week. After all, she was his therapist, and she had all the time in the world to read Victini like a book.

And what she was seeing was scaring her.

Victini tried to play it cool, obviously. "Heya Mesprit, I am good indeed. Ready to resume my duty!''

Mesprit interiorly frowned. Victini's words might have been playing it cool and calm, but she was the Goddess of emotions. She could see almost as plain of day that Victini was afraid. But afraid of what? She had a feeling he wouldn't answer honestly, so she decided that she would try to read his mind subtly.

''Nice to hear. You know, I was really concerned. you simply vanished one day...Are you certain that everything is fine? Mesprit softly questioned, but Victini had the impression that she was secretly scanning him. Even while he was aware that she did this to check sure he is okay, it was nevertheless intrusive.

"Yes, I am. But, what about you? How everything is going?" He asked, controlling his energy internally to prevent Mesprit from delving too deep. He could tell that despite the fact that she could very well blast away his defenses and seek the information she wanted, her moral compass prevented her from exerting her true, mystical power on him. He thanked Arceus for that as after all, the investigation he was doing was for her sake mainly.

Mesprit sighed. It was him alright. Whenever he wanted the focus out of himself, he would divert the conversation. She didn't even need her mystical power to figure out that Victini wasn't being open with her. Which was very odd as she normally thought that the bunny would almost be like an open book. Now, a strange force around him was preventing her from passively reading his mind. It was like a golden veil was blocking her access to his heart. She wasn't use to such resistance and for a fleeting moment, her eyes narrowed. She felt like grabbing Victini, plunge her golden gaze upon him and drain his emotions so he would answer, unhibited by his emotions. The temptation grew intense, and her eyes even glowed.

Victini had a double take. Mesprit's gaze had significantly frosted up, glowing almost menacingly. The bunny could feel his bakc sweating and had to focus not to start shaking as the vision of Mesprit's red eyes evoked a primal fear in him, comparable of what he had felt that night.

Mesprit however felt like she was losing control. She couldn't let her worry about him transpire to that extent and she couldn't force him to tell him. It wasn't ethical.

''No! He will open up to me on his own term, not on my selfish desire!'' She decided interiorly and blinked, her eyes losing that glow.

Victini saw this and had to hold back a sigh of relief. Mesprit could be terrifying when she wanted to.

Mesprit then answered the fire type bunny's question

"Oh, everything is going smoothy. I wanted to thank you for Tapu Koko actually. I never took the opportunity to do so. Ever since you gave him your guidance, he has been improving on his role by leaps and bound. As for me, I am well. I am just puzzled about an incident that have happened a few weeks ago." She explained with a small smile on her face.

Victini finally genuinely smiled for the first time. It really did feel good to be appreciated. ''Thank you Mesprit. I only gave him the basics. he has been coming into his own from what I have seen of him. He has come far. He'll make a good host one day, I garentee it.'' He said as he picked up what Mesprit had followed it up with.

''Really? what kind of incident?" he asked, looking mormally inquisitive but interiorly in full alert. He had a feeling he knew what Mesprit was talking about.

"Well, " Mesprit hesitated and looked away in embarrassement

"It is alright if you don't want to tell. " Victini said, gently getting close to mesprit and gently rubbing her back, trying not to be too distracted by Mesprit's soft fur.

Mesprit smirked. ''Oh my, becoming quite bold I see?'' She purred, teasing. In reality Victini's toughtful gesture was welcomed. She did feel quite a bit of shame for having being caught in such a defenseless manner.

Victini stammered, blushing horribly. Mesprit laughed out loud at his face, happy that the akward feeling was for now all but gone. If Victini could still do this, maybe it wasn't as bad as she thought it was.

She continued after calming down: "No, it is alright. I think I can trust you enough to know that you'd keep a secret. So, I don't know how and why, but around two weeks ago, Tapu Koko found me fainted on the floor of my room. Indeed, when I woke up, I felt...horrible. It was as if I had just been raised from the land of the dead. I was so disoriented and my head was killing me. Stranger still, I do not remember at all, how I ended up on the floor? I only vaguely remember going to the bar the night before and then poof! It's like a big void of black in my memory" She stopped for a moment before she continued. "However, ever since that night, every time I have seen the fox, I felt like a rightful anger erupted in my chest. Well, her and her underlings, but her in particular. I don't know. I know that I can put back that fox in her place everytime I so wish, she is not a treat to me...so I wonder where this foreign feeling comes from. Strange isn't it?''

Vcitini's mind was registering all the information like a sponge. This was very interesting. However, what mattered now was that he needed to show his support.

"It is not weird really. The way you are describing this to me, you seemed to have just been drunk. It's not a pleasent experience, lemme tell you. I remember of my first. I was out of place, had no control over my coordination and bowels and more embarrasing things that are best kept under wraps" He laughed as he remembered his first binge drinking with Mew. It might had been a fiery puking contest in the end, he had emerged victorious, so he was looking at it now like a fond memory.

"But I...I do remember going to the bar now that you mention it...but I only drank a few drinks. I think I only had 1 drink and a few shots!" Mesprit said in frusration. "I am not weak to alcohol enough to be drunk after that little amount of Alcohol! I happen to be able to hold my liquor quite well mister!" she indignantly shouted.

"I see. Well, it is indeed weird..." Victini went into serious trying to figure out what was the thing which turned her into a beast. Hearing the icey fox name was also suspicious as well.

"Well, I have to keep going. But, here is the list of the duties what you need to do." Mesprit said as she gave a list to him. "See you later Vivi,"

"Bye" He waved back then closed the door, and quicky took out his notepad to write down everything. He felt he is getting closer to the solution than how he thought.

000

Back in Mt Ember, Moltres seriously watched as the five made their way inside the inhospitous mountain. It was laughable yet entertaining. Her temporary roosting place was a place frequently used for training. She would not allow its conquest to be easy. Knowing what to do, she used her power to test the players.

At first, to hinder their progression even further, she forced the Mountain's internal temperature to rise tremendously.

"It would not do not to show some real hospitality after all. This is the merge of one of these shows after all." She said interiorly, chuckling.

The players inside the mountain definitelt felt the effects of this rise.

Roserade desperately fought with the elements. She ate all her berries already. Just the heat was making her feel faint. She has barely climbed the first two floors. The entire area was so hot it was constantly covered in hot mist, which reduced her visibility.

It couldn't helped, constantly harrassed by the frienzied wild pokemon chipped away at her stamina...fast. "I...I can't...go..." She panted as she fell on her knees, to exhausted to even move properly or even register the pain of touching burning Stone.

Speaking of stone, after miraculously defeating a Magmar that had been a bit too cocky and forward, she had managed to snag a fire stone, which she figured would be one of the mentionned treasures.

"If i can at least hold on to..'' Muttered the poor plant lady before feeling an Icy bite of stinging pain on her back knocking her to the ground, her energy finally spent.

Sneasel ran past her, a dark look on his face. His willpower and knowledge were the only things which helped him hold on to his sanity and bodily integrity. In his franctic search, he had managed to find a bush of occa berries, which tremendously raised his heat resistance. Those berries also kept him well energized, considering how much he was sweating. He also spotted a faint red and orange shard in her leaf like hands.

He quicky took it from her, and ran. "Nothing personal, Roserade. But I must win." He said in an half baked apology before running toward the next floor.

Moltres, who was sensing this happening, whistled. "Well i'll lose my shining feathers. Some of them actually are cuttroats.''

Croagunk was way ahead of everyone else, using his power and experiences to avoid traps.

Even when the ground started to randomly erupt with jets of Lava, the muay that frog managed to avoid, thanks to his anticipation ability.

"That ability kept me alive in the street. Now its keeping on this beat. I cannot say this ain't heat I might have to go soon but now ain't it!" He rapped as he dodged yet another lava exploding right beneath his feets He suddenly spotted a charcoal which he knew was one of the treasures.

"Lucky me! " He chuckled He started walking towards it despite his increasingly itchy feeling of his already dry skin. To his frustration, a Magmortal blocked the way between him and the treasure, running meanchy towards him. But the frog just smiled. He knew what to do. A few mud bomb attacks and well placed poison Jabs. The Magmortar hunk fell to his side, poisoned and defeated, with the Frog victoriously snagging the piece of charcoal of his body and walking toward what looked like the last floor.

Croagunk was smirking proudly in the confessional. ''Croagunk 1 - stupid bazooka arm - 0'' He chattered with a bad smirk on his face.

000

Metang found the last treasure, a lava cookie, hidden within the cranny of a wall. Noticing the heat rising up, the Iron claw Pokemon shuddered.

''There is a 23% chance that I am physically unable to handle the heat and the pressure above this floor. Howerver, with the lava cookie in my posession, I need not to go crazy. I won't be the least performing today, so I should be safe. Best I leave this mountain for now.'' Reasoned the Psychic type before leaving the mountain behind unhindered.

Sneasel's eyes barely were able to adjust to the bright light of the summit of MT ember. In front of him, a form luminous like the Sun itself florished her wings. He had made it to the top first, to his immense satisfaction.

''I have reached the pinnacle, and now, nothing will stand in my way!'' He declared confidently before hearing a rasping, rich laugh.

Indeed, Moltres, who stood before him, chuckled in front of such misplaced pride and arrogance. ''Who are you, kid, to claim such things in front of me?'' She asked.

Sneasel looked up, recognizing the bird standing in front of him. His master, Uxie, had long talked about the three legendary birds from Kanto often. He knew who he was dealing with, but his grim determiniation would not allow him to back down. Releasing his dark blade, he narrowed his eyes.

"I am Sneasel! The one who will surpass you! En Garde!'' He shouted as he leaped toward the Phenix

Back at Seafoam Island, Fraxure spent hours to try complete a rather complex Ice puzzle, but every time she tried, she found herself making a mistake that brought her right back to the beginning.

''What's with these puzzles rahhh! I don't have time for this. Time to employ brute force! '' SHe said before an eerie voice stopped her cold.

''You, who would destroy rather than conquer, have failed the test. You shall move from here no further!'' The voice judged before an Ice mist settled in the area.

Fraxure snorted. ''I might be weak to Ice but stupid mist won't be able to hold me!'' She said as she activated dragon Dance.

Instantly, the mist thickedned and a sheer cold instantly froze Fraxure, who didn't even have the time to register what happened as her world instantly went from pretty lights to total darkness.

Falinks was also not lucky either. Thinking they could defeat an horde of Jinx, who named themselves the courtesan of the Ice castle, they went on a coordinated attack.

However, with a single blizzard attack, the 6 compadres got instantly defeated. It wasn't even a battle

Monferno and Gengar however had the time of their lives, working together in order to conquer the puzzles and the various labyrynths present in the ice cave.

They were laughing merrily, teasing each other and even stopped to admire the beautiful sceneries that the cave offered them, leading to quite a few kissing scenes as well.

They reached Articuno's chamber rather quickly on insight, hands in hands in order to show that they belonged to each other.

The queen of the premises, the stern and elegant Articuno, had been widely entertained by the duo. The unorthodox Monferno finding out of the box answer and the cunning of Gengar, who managed to weave their way through the challenges she had in mind and set up for this occasion.

For exemple, using the fire's light mixed with the auroras to create a lightshow that captivated the seels so they could pass undisturbed, or Gengar dragging Monferno into her shadow so they could avoid the slippery floor tile labyrynth.

They had both reached her together and brought all four treasures. With this level of proficiency, Articuno didn't even deign need to fight them. They had proven themselves more than worthy enough.

Within the confines of the Power Plant, Wartortle found himself engaged in a fierce confrontation with an army of Voltorbs. Utilizing his mastery over water and ice, he valiantly fought against their onslaught. Meanwhile, Lapras and Hattrem embarked on a mission to locate Zapdos. As they stood before him, anticipation gleamed in Zapdos' eyes.

"Ah! A Lapras accompanied by some teenage stage girl? " Zaptos sneered mockingly. "This shall be child's play." His laughter resonated through the air as electricity crackled around him, causing Hattrem to tremble involuntarily.

"We have come for you, Lightning orb—Zapdos!" Lapras declared resolutely.

Zapdos merely chuckled sinisterly while flapping his wings vigorously, generating thunderous sounds that reverberated throughout the vicinity.

"Do you truly believe yourselves worthy?" Zapdos taunted challengingly. And thus commenced their epic clash.

Summoning forth immense power from within himself, Zapdos conjured a colossal thunderstorm that enveloped their surroundings. He launched his initial assault at Lapras who skillfully evaded it and retaliated with an icy beam attack of her own.

On the other hand, Hattrem was overwhelmed by fear; tears welled up in her eyes as her legs felt burdened like weighty stones

I find it hard to believe the show's managers sent a weakling for me. And I believed the struggle would be enjoyable. In frustration, Zapdos sighed. You will be eliminated nonetheless, just like your friend will.

He then used Drill Peck to fly at Hattrem at the speed of light. She closed her eyes and braced herself for the worst, but it never came.

When she opened her eyes, Lapras was engulfing her in her own body. She was attacked, yet she didn't even flinch. Her form glowing green, she endured the attack before deflecting it with a counter.

But, how?

'' Isn't this a competition? Why would you sacrifice your body to aid an enemy?'' Asked Zapdos, puzzled by Lapras's actions.

''She isn't my ennemy though. She's afraid so I am protecting her. That is all!'' Retorted Lapras as she launched a vicious Ice Beam that made the bird sqwak in pain and surprise.

''I have heard that the Lapras species were really maternal, but this is asinine! Fool! you should be at least using each other as decoy. I am not so weak to be taken out by small fries that prides themselves on friendship!'' She screeched as she launched a vicious thunderbolt that they both dodged. Sadly, as they did so, Dunsparce, who had just joined the two, was hit directly and fainted immediately, the attack far too intense for her power level.

As the electric bird continued the onslaught, and Lapras continued her defense and icy moves, she had an idea.

Moving out of the way slowly, she took adventage of Zapdos's focus on Lapras, and collecting every bravely, she jumped into the air, and with her one of pigtalls, hit the bird on the head as hardly as she could. The Zen headbutt she had learned was finally putting some use. She knew she was right to have listened to her chat who had suggested that she learn some offensive moves to take adventage of her powerful pig tails.

Disoriented, the bird blinked and lost some altitude, before hatterene and Lapras unleashed a barrage of Ice and Psychic attack, not stopping in fear of allowing the Large thunderbird to recover.

In the end, Zapdos was taken down, fell into the floor fainted...

Or so they thought...

''This was scary, I am glad it is finally over...'' Hattrem said as she walked toward the Altar to pick up the Lightning orb.

''I agree. Let's pick the orb and get out of here. I cannot stand the thought of staying here any longer than we need...'' Replied Lapras, struggling to catch her breath after such a potent exertion of her abilities.

It was then that a low, raspy squawk iced both of their blood. ''I thought that I told you...'' The voice stared, hovering , then flying outright with a look of pure fury in her face.

''THAT I AM NOT THAT EASY TO DEFEAT?'' Screamed indignantly Zapdos before releasing a blue green Zap Cannon at Hattrem. The attack was so potent that the draft it created dig a trench on its path

''Not on my watch!'' Shouted Lapras as she moved quickly to shield the paralyzed psychic type with her body.

''LAPRAS! NO!'' Shouted Hattrem as the attack impacted.

''GRAAAAAAAHHH!'' Lapras shouted in pain, her every nerves feeling like they were plunged into a sea of stining acid. She lost control of her bowers and sadly relieved herself uncontrolably. Her every muscles were spasming in pain, her eyes wide open in pure pain. The intense attack hadn't lasted too long, but for the gentle transport Pokemon, the attack might have lasted entire days.

When the Zap Cannon's explosion finally relented... Lapras fell, half conscious, in front of a tear filled Hattrem.

''W..why? Why did you do that? Lapras...why sacrificing yourself...for me?'' She asked.

Lapras smiled. ''You were afraid of thunder. My natural instinct is to protect and nurture. It is not hard to do one and one together. I...just didn't want you to suffer more..'' She said as she fainted.

Hattrem's tears fell for her friend. They fell for her trauma...and they quickly turned into anger.

''I told her it was stupid. She just had to get out of the way, but she decided to protect you, worthless little runt! Do not worry though, i'll send you to her soon." Sqwaked meanly the legendary embodiment of Thunder.

''You will pay for this..Zapdos! I will not remain a damsel in distress or a weak Pokemon to be saved forever... Now, you will understand...why my kind's final evolution is called the raging Goddess!'' She muttered darkly as a flash of light appeared around Hattrem. Wind picked up around the illuminated Pokemon, forming a pattern that engulfed the form of the tiny faerie. Quickly, the light disappeared, revealing a tall pretty pokemon on the spot.

Curvy hair form, a pointed hat not unlike a witch's, piercing blue eyes that only showed a part of her actually anger, a single set of hairy claw that she felt was radiating with power. She was an Hattrem no more.

''I am now an Hatterene, you oversized fried chicken. I will maim you to the point that you are nothing but the gum under my shoe.

The Bird squawked with Glee. ''Well that is quite the change in attitude. I can't say that I dislike it though...''

A terrible fight ensued, one that Zapdos quickly regretted starting. Hatterene was merciless, her newfound power more potent due to her emotions.

The amount of emotions she was feeling and that was being released by Zapdos was strangely hurtful, but it also fueled her.

After one last moonblast! Zapdos crashed on the floor of the Power plant, his face frozen in terror. All around him were craters coming from the clash between their moves.

''JUST WHAT ARE YOU? HOW ARE YOU NOT DOWN AFTER ALL OF THESE ATTACKS!?'' Sqwaked a terrified Zapdos.

Hatterene's voice remained eerily calm. ''I told you didn't I? I am the raging goddess!'' She said before unleashing a moonblast that destroyed a huge part of the vicinity.

The deed done, She healed Lapras with heal pulse and left the plant with the orb of thunder in had. it felt certainly different, now that she was quite a few inches taller. But she would get used to her new form in time.

000

Hatterene looked coquettishely at the camera in the confessional. ''I bet that if I had been a Hatterene from the start, I would have snagged the Monkey...'' She reasoned as she twirled around the confessional before the camera turned static.''

Receiving the word from the three birds that their challenges had wrapped up, Mewtwo concentrated and teleported everyone back to the cave. Some were still out cold, and Mewtwo did not see fit to awaken them.

''You did well, those who did. And those who didn't, you pretty much suck. However, I didn't have high hopes for most of you all anyway.'' He said as Tapu Koko came into view in the cristal filled hideout.

After that, Every eyes ended up on Haterene afterwards. Some congratuated her evolution, some like the fox watched her in disgust, and there were anothers, who spoke some , not nice words which made Haterene kinda angry, and hit those idiots on the head. It seemed that she hadn't lost her playful disposition.

Even Monferno had to admit that the newly evolved Hatterene looked pretty good, which made the witch smile with a smile that made Lopunny? , back to her morph, scowl with defiance.

''You better not try to seduce my man now that you actually can compete with my looks, sister...'' she thought as their eyes crossed.

Hatterene fleetingly thought about it. However, she wouldn't really want to do it. However, messing with the ghost would be a good way to get back at her and weaken her

"Well, besides Hattrem adorable evolution, I congratulate those who performed well during this first merge challenge. Those who didn't, you better pick it up. You could get booted up at any time!'' Said Tapu Koko, crossing his arms

"Speaking of which. I had a nice game planned out for the two bottom performers, but I decided against it. It seem that an old friend of mine rather take the hostilities from here. As Koko explained earlier, fate is what decides who stays and who goes. And by fate, I mean your battle prowess. You will be tested by Mythicals of our realms. Today's unlucky campers will be Ninetales and Dunsparce! If you wish to remain on this Island, Prove that despite performing miserably, you still have the resolve to continue here!" Said Mewtwo.

Ninetales, who had been revived and was tended by Wartortle and Dunsparce, who was looking around fearfully, stepped forward.

In front of them appeared a familiar figure. Small, Pink, looking like a cat and brearing a somewhat distinguishable resemblance to Mewtwo.

''Heya! As the only mythical of this region, I shall open the hostilites of the arena of fate. I have gotten extensive data on you two, this should be fun!''

Looking at that Mew closer, it turned out this Mew is not your everyday Mew, but a certain Mew from the previous shows.

Looking at the two Pokemon, Mew smiled. This would be fun.

Wordlessly, the pink pokemon shimmered likely and in a matter of seconds, an exact clone of him was watching the other contestant with an insufferable shit eating grin.

''What is going On!'' Demanded to know Ninetales, who was frazzled, understandingly, at such a display.

The Mew cackled with a malovelent smile. ''Wouldn't you like to know, you little whore? You get to understand after we move this somewhere more...fitting.'' He said as he flashed with a brilliant light.

Dunsparce tried to get used to the light, but couldn't. When it receded, the land snake was alone, with a sympathetic Mew looming over her.

''...Please...don't eat me...'' She said as she shook with every bone...or lack thereof, in her body. Mew looked at the normal type. ''Weren't you all about how you can win it all just a few challenges ago?'' He asked as he sat beside the snake.

Dunsparce thought about all of the times she had been bailed out by ''situations'' ever since Victini had given her that pendant. She still held it around her neck, although now it was only just a trinket without warmth. Even during this challenge, she had been taken out fairly quickly. It was clear that she had waltzed into the merge by chance. She had wanted to prove that she could make it even without Victini's blessing...but .. when she had just tried...she was already fighting for her life in the game now.

''I...i was. But I was cocky. It's this trinket. Victini gave it to me...and it created some situations where I was advantaged... I am sure of it. But now..it's just a trinket. I promised..I promised Magikarp that I would show that I could make it even without the blessing of Victini...but here I am... in the bottom on the first challenge of the merge.'' She said sadly.

Mew had indeed changed a lot ever since he was a host. He remembered times where he would have been cackling at the misery of contestants. It was a long, long time gone and while he could slip back into his role, didn't find it in him to properly torment the snake, even for views.

''Well, I can't tell you how to feel about this, Dunsparce. But honestly, if you tell me, I would say that you recognizing that you were essentially carried up to there isn't such a bad thing. It happens. You might have watched my season's before. Some players were hard carried until the finals. i can remember a wooper essentially going all the way to the finals before he kept being underestimated and when he was supposed to lose, pulled off an Ice Punch without arms, can you believe it?'' Mew said while laughing.

Dunsparce eyes widened. A Wooper beating someone with Ice punch seemed more unlikely than her actually winning anything in life. Yet it had happened.

''Are you serious?'' she asked wearily to the host who nodded earnestly.

''I still cannot believe it myself honestly'' replied mew with a shrug and a smile. ''So what i am saying, is that even if it stops for you here, there is no saying where your path will lead you. Even if you were lucky to be heard by victini that time and waltzed in the merge. The experiences you made and the understanding that you couldn't rely on luck or blessing to carve a path in life are valuable lessons to have. Listen, Dunsparce. Games like this can only have one winner and it isn't always the most deserving one that wins. However, everyone, even those eliminated in the first episode, can leave with a treasure. Even if they tell you that nothing was good, it's never entirely true. I can attest to that. Doing shows like these have brought a nasty side of me and brought me to the brink of despair. But in the end, it brought me where I am today. I might not be the Mew that I am today without going through these honestly. So embrace it. The failure and the successes. You're in the bottom? It dosen't matter. Going to hell? You wouldn't be the first mon down there and won't be the last one. Think of it as purgatory. You haven't died yet, so do you truly believe you'd be stuck there forever? Of course not.
At least, instead of cowering, go out in style. Prove to the world that you are ready to change. You probably won't win against me, but at least you can prove that you have heart. That, can be sweeter than knocking me out, little snake. '' Said mew as a serious expression made his way to his face and he started floating in the air, signaling the start of the battle.

Dunsparce narrowed her eyes, Mew's speech lighting a new fire in her chest. ''He's right. I cannot be sorry for myself forever, nor I should cower always. If I take even one slither forward, now's the chance. Against these odds, against this alumni. I...I want to at least try to change!'' She said as she readied a drill liner, propelling herself toward the mew who smiled.

* Battle music - Seized Construct - Legend Of Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom *

A strange, techno like tune started playing in the background as Me0's psychic powers started vibrating in the area, covering him in a strange, otherwordly armor.

It looked like a broken statue, with markings unknown to the small normal type. The broken parts eerily floating around him, held together by tendrils of psychic energy.

The construct conjured a shield of pure energy that repelled the Drill liner, making the poor Dunsparce fly away from it, landing on the ground in a heap.

''That's hard...what is this even...?'' She muttered as she got back in a fighting position.

Mew laughed from inside the construct. ''This is something I wanted to try for a bit. I call it the MK III Construct - Mew's Susanoo! Can you defeat it and save yourself?'' he asked as one of the parts started shining.

Dunsparce was a bit worried and immediately burrowed underground.

That was a good move as during the next 2 seconds, the sensitive snake could feel a ray of flames heating up the hole she had burrowed right afterwards.

''That was close!'' she thought as she burrowed right under the construct and then shot upward for a blow, making the construct stumble.

''Good hit! But how about this!?'' Said mew as his eyes glowed pink. With a loud noise, Pink missiles started erupting from the constuct's back, homing on to the Dunsparce.

''MEEP!'' Said Dunsparce as she started burrowing underground again. Unfortunately for her, the missile were guided by Mew's psychic powers

''There is NO ESCAPE, little snake.'' Mew sneered as the missiles entered the hole.

A massive explosion was heard soon after, making the ground of the space erupt in protestation, with Dunsparce being violently flung upwards from the hit and landing hard on her back, temporarily cutting off her breathing.

Mew cackled, the battle filling him with a joy that he had missed. ''I should probably battle more often...This is fun...!'' He thought as Dunsparce pushed herself back up, refusing to give up.

Mew smiled. That is what he wanted to see.

* 000 *

Mew was smiling at the camera, looking a bit pensive. ''Since when did I become a motivational speaker? I think Melody has had too much influence on me.'' He said chuckling

* 000 *

In another space, aptly named the Arena of the last chance, things were far less glamorous. Ninetales was panting, blood seeping from her maw as she struggled to breathe.

She couldn't comprehend what was happening. One second, she had been staring down a legendary Mew. The next, she had been fighting Tapu Fini. THE Tapu Fini. It was frightening. She hated Tapu Fini from the bottom of her heart...and the things she was telling her only made her want to get in that shell and rip her body right out of it.
But the guardian of Poni Island was strong. So strong it made her blood crawl and her fur stand in fear. She desesperately didn't want to show that weakness if front of her enemy, but she was weakening, fast. What's worse was that it seemed that her disease was choosing now to flare up.

''Not good...I can't lose here. Not to her. Not to anyone.'' She thought frantically as she thought of a way to stay alive.

''It seems that when you cannot whore your way out of a situation, you are as pitiful as ever, aren't you Ninetales?'' Said a haughty voice as she sent out a moonblast that the alolan beauty barely dodged.

''You're one to talk! Aren't you supposed to help Pokemon in need? With your sacred water, my lung disease would be history. Yet, you refuse!'' She snarled as she sent a moonblast of her own at the deity.

''That's the problem with you. You are so selfish and self serving that it makes me want to puke all the saltwater in Alola. Do you think that I give my water and blessing to someone who just want it to get out of misfortune? What have you done that makes you worthy of such a gift?'' She asked as she unleashed a shockwave of fairy energy that cut into Alolan Ninetales's aurora veil like butter and struct her hard, making her skid accross the arena.

''I might be beautiful as well, but I don't go around seducing eveyrone and anyone to ensure my survival. I am a guardian after all. I care about my own. I test them for their sake. I am not as benevolent a deity than those in other regions. If you want a favor from me, you need to earn it. But you! You don't even think about your own. You just use people. Let's take that turtle.'' She said as she lunged at Ninetales, water covering her body and hitting her hard with it.

''WHat about Wartortle? He's a hunk, he does me well and he's capable of hurting at my command. He's perfect!'' She purred as her tails turned great and she intercepted the Liquidation attack.

''You're disgusting. Only once, your heart has been swayed by that Meloetta's song, and you genuinely craved for love. You had a passionate night that night, yet immediately after, your perfidy took over. You think I didn't see you erasing his memory partially with your vile tricks? You cannot even be honest with those you seduce. You expect me to take you seriously?'' Venomously spat Ninetales as she launched a Moonblast that exploded in Ninetales's face, sending her crashing far away from the Alolan Deity.

''What's even more tragic, is that Wartortle genuinely started loving you. He knew you are using him...yet he strangely started caring... Does that not move your heart even a little...?'' Said tapu fini as she summoned a giant wave of water and sent it rushing at high speeds toward the fox, who howled and summoned a blizzard so intense it froze the whole wave solid.

The look of vulnerability in the Fox's face temporarily made Tapy Fini believe that she had gotten through the fox. A single tear fell from the fox's eye before she closed her eyes. When she opened them up again, the tear had already froze and shattered upon touching the floor of the arena.

''I care not about that Meatstick, Tapu Fini. He's a fool if he caught any feelings for me. When you are beautiful and seductive, like me, you need not to be genuine. You can use, seduce and manipulate your way to the top. He is strong, a hunk, does me well and can hurt on command. The Perfect slave. I never needed more than his body and his muscles. His heart? What use it is for me here in this game? But what's between his legs is highly serviceable for my symptoms. Post coitus relaxation does wonders for my lungs. What did you think? That his supposed love could sway me? No! Love is weakness. I am a predator, an artic Fox! I prey on weaknesses.'' She said as she narrowed her eyes at Tapu Fini.

''If you won't give me what I want... I will rip it out of you!'' She said with such venom that Tapu Fini's eyes widened. Never in her life, she had met a Pokemon so devoid of morals and empathy. Well, that wasn't entirely true, but it came close.

''How disgusting...'' She said before shining.

In her place was a pissed off Mew. Ninetales had not the time to realize what was happening that she was struct with a violent Mega Punch to the cheek that sent her flying torward the end of the barrier.

''W...who..WHAT? Where's Tapu Fini?!'' Demanded Ninetales, wiping the blood that seeped through her maw.

Mew shook his head. ''She was never there. I used transform to transform into her. Since we met a few times, I knew how she was and I could transform and mimick her appearence and speech. I watched the show and knew how you were, but you remind me so much of Celebi that It makes me want to vomit. Woman that would use anything to get ahead, no matter the cost.''he said as he spat on the ground

Alolan Ninetales started laughing. ''That's rich, coming from the legendary monster host. Do you think I don't know what atrocities you made innocent Pokemon go through? You can talk a good game, mister reformed, but it takes a bitch to recognize another. And you smell like bitch plenty to me.'' She venomously spat right before being violently hit by and Iron Tail to the gut that almost felt like she had been cut in two. With a pained gasp, she shook herself in order not to lose consciouness.

''I'd be careful about my next words...Ninetales. My next attack could very well be the last one you ever see...'' Said Mew with an equal amount of venom, which made her purr.

''See...you aren't as reformed as you say you are...Mew.'' She said with a satisfactory smile before gathering her last strenght and lauching herself in a quick attack at Mew, catching him ''By surprise'' and pinning him to the floor''

''Now that your true nature has come out, what do you say we leave this behind us and we have some ''fun''? For a womanizer like you it should not be a problem. Beside, how would you not want to have a piece of me? No boys or man resists me.'' She said sensually, caressing mew with her tail for emphasis.

Mew closed his eyes. Yep, she was exactly like Celebi. Violent and manipulative, beautiful but terrible. He was even more ashamed that it had worked, once upon a time.

The next time Mew stared into Alolan Ninetales's eyes, the fox thought she had stared into death itself. Terrified, she jumped off the small cat like Pokemon, who simply got up, dusting himself off the ice dust Alolan Ninetales carried with her fur.

Said Ninetales was in utter shock. ''B...but how?'' She barely articulated.

Mew said with an eerily calm voice. ''It's simple, you whore. I love Melody. I went through hell and back for what I have done and I was punished, yet I learned a very important lesson that will follow me until the end of times. He said as he prepared a big ball of psychic energy in his hand that grew bigger and bigger until it atteigned terrifyingly large sizes. However, it seemed to come with no effort with Mew.

The fox slowly backpedaled until she hit an invisible wall, with mew approaching slowly but resolutely to her.

Mew eventually arrived, with the sphere now as big as a small building. The small pink pokemon lowered his head to be at Ninetales's ear level.

''...Is that there are more things in this world that beauty and sex-appeal and that there is more fulfillment in being with others than being self centered. Reflect on that as you rot in hell.'' He said as he prepared to launch his Genesis Supernova at Ninetales.

Sadly, fate hadn't yet come for the Ice fox, as in the exact moment, the arena unraveled itself, unveiling a Koed Dunsparce in front of a pile of rubbish. The small snake had a smile on her face, despite her Koed state.

Mew sighed, the genesis supernova dissipating in his hands. It seemed that fate had decided that it wasn't the time for the fox to face her retribution yet.

''Dunsparce was Koed first in the Arena of the Last chance. She is therefore automatically eliminated!'' Announced Tapu Koko.

''Babe!'' Rushed Wartortle upon seeing Ninetales battered and covered in bruises and even patches of blood.

Alolan Ninetales smiled at Mew before fainting. Mew shook his head in frustration and landed next to Mewtwo who patted his shoulder understandbly. As his clone, Mewtwo had a fairly good relationship with Mew. He knew what that look meant.

Mesprit sighed. Whatever had happened in there would remain unknown for the most part, but she could tell that Mew was angry at the fox. It was kind of odd. She had somehow expected the fox to rile mew up by proposing to do sinful acts with him, but what she was picking up from mew was also shame and dissapointment, which was very odd. However, she still had host duties to pick up, so with a touch, she healed Dunsparce, who groggily picked herself up.

''I..did I?'' She asked hopefully.

Mesprit shook her head sadly, making the snake sigh in sadness.

''I will teleport you things. You can go behind this rock upcropping for your last confessional, Dunsparce.'' She said sympathetically.

The land snake nodded and slithered toward it.

''The rest of you can go back to your hotel in Cerulean. Well, those who wish to say goodbye to Dunsparce can stay here.'' Said Koko.

Most of the remaining contestant, including the newly evolved Hatterene decided to go back to their room. After all, they never knew when would be the next challenge.

Mew watched Wartortle carry Alolan Ninetales bridal style and snarled. Some chicks truly deserved to stay alone for the rest of their life, even if their company was pure scum.

Dunsparce smiled sadly in the confessional. ''I tried my best against Mew's construct. But those fire lasers on his second form were too strong for me. I gave it my all, even learned a new move, Hyper Drill, which had cut through the construct's defenses like butter, but at the expenses of taking all my remaining energy. I wish I could have gone further, but like Mew said, I still won something in the end. Magikarp, I'll be back soon. I can tell you about the amazing things I saw and the lessons I've gotten her. As for who i'd like to see win? Roserade and Lapras are sweeties, so i'd love them to win. if not, maybe Bidoof. He's funny and not that annoying. But it's probably because i am not pretty enough to warrant his more ... lecherous tendencies. Anyway, that is it for me, I hope to see you guys again...'' She said positively before taking off Victini's trinket and leaving it on the rock outcropping.

Dunsparce bravely took her small belongings toward the edge of the makeshift cliff improvised by Mewtwo and Mew. She looked at Tapu Koko, who was impressed with her resolve. He also realized that the snake's neck was free of any trinket.

''You won't bring Victini's trinket with you?'' He asked, curiosity evident on his face.

''No. I believe i'll be able to make a fresh start if I don't bring it with me.'' She explaned before looking forward with a smile.

Mesprit smiled. Next to her were Roserade and Lapras, as well as bidoof, Metang and Monferno and Lopunny? who were watching the small snake go.

They flashed her a thumbs up...or a pirouette for Monferno.

''Good luck in there!'' finally said Roserade

''You have gotten so strong! I hope to see you again!'' Said Lapras happily.

Dunsparce almost shed a tear, but decided to go against it as the big shadow appeared, encompassing her.

''See you later guys!'' She said with a soft voice before the shadow engulfed her and dragged her into the dimentional hole, who closed soon after, her and all her belongings, like she had never been there in the first place.

As the other Pokemon enjoyed the hot spring present in the cave, Sneasel was in another corner of the cerulean Cave, counting his newly gained tickets and looked at his paw, who glowed yellow. He had been so focused on winning that he had forgotten that he possessed Uxie's blessing, allowing him to scan and process information far faster than one thought a Pokemon like him could. It also allowed him to devise the weakness of any Pokemon, which he had used to defeat Moltres in single combat. A victorious snarl made its way to his face.

''Finally, I have the power to win this entire thing. If I can defeat a pokemon hailed in legends, what can I not defeat?'' He said

A voice dared answer him.

''Someone who isn't afraid to be as ruthless as you...'' Said a feminine voice.

Sneasel turned to see who he was talking to, and his eyes widened.

''You?''

Bidoof had been taking picture of Mesprit and the rest of the ladies during their time in the hotspring. The stealth training he had been given was way too effective and he was in the process of creating a secret blog with all of these pictures. With the amount he already had and the contacts he had created, he was steadily making his name known in the best paparazzi circles of the Pokemon world.

''Connections will get you far in this world! Screw the money! At this point, I know I won't win it. But at the very least, i'll get out rich from this experience...'' He plotted as Metang lazily arrived next to him

''What's up?'' Asked the rodent, barely lifting his eyes off the screen.

''I feel like this game lacks any sort of fluctuations...What do you think about creating some chaos?'' Asked the Iron Claw .

Bidoof smiled. ''I am listening! This was getting boring anyway.'' Said the beaver, putting away his equipment.

Victini was back at the lounge. This time, he wasn't there to chat.

''Prima! I need you to give me the a few of your glasses at random. There is something I want to test.'' He said seriously.

''I don't mind Victini. But why?'' She asked, inquisitive.

''I feel like the key to this mystery is your glasses. I won't break them, I promise.'' He said with a serious look on his face.

Primarina nodded and soon enough, Victini was leaving with dozens of Glasses. However, he wasn't going back to his room, but teleported to Mew's appartment and sat on the couch to relax while waiting for his friend to return.

''The key to all of this is right there, I can feel it. I just got to trust my gut...'' He muttered before closing his eyes and falling asleep for a bit.
