Chapter 1

All the memories are back…

Puss in boots' pov

All the things settled down after we abandoned the wishing star. After all, it was just a dumb wish I wanted to make. Now I have everything I could possibly wish for. Perro and Kitty Softpaws are now my allies in fights and my best friends. I forgot to tell you, the stupid name Perro chose for us actually remained our final name. Team friendship… what a name! I thought.We were in our wooden boat, waiting for new adventures. Perro took a turn because of the big waves, and I ended up hugging kitty. She blushed, but not for long. She pushed me away, rolled her eyes and helped Perro handle the boat. I looked at her, imagining she would have stayed in my arms just a little longer. I wanted to be her boyfriend so bad, but my ego wouldn't let me sleep at night if I told her how I feel and she would reject me. I hope she will confess, so I don't have to do the hard part. The part I love the most about confessions is the word ''yes''. I only have to agree. Kitty took charge of the boat. I looked at the blue wonderful sky. There were some puffy clouds. I think they will get us wet. I noticed something written in big letters on an island not too far away from us. The letters said ''FAR FAR AWAY''. The memories I had from that small village came back and filled my head. I was just an ordinary cat who wanted to fight thieves, but now I actually am a hero. Kitty examined my face and said:
''I know something is wrong. You can tell us.''

''We have to stop on that island…'' I said.

''Why? On that island with the big letters saying: far far here?'' asked Kitty, confused.

''It says far far away! It's a long story…''

I wanted to get us there as soon as possible. I want to see Shrek and Fiona again. I wonder if they are still a couple. Fiona must be a queen by now. One of my first real friends is there… Donkey! I still remember some really funny memories with him! Like that time when a witch switched our tails! I burst out laughing when I thought of that. I stopped as quickly as a flash because Perro and Kitty couldn't understand why I was laughing.

''I just remembered something funny.'' I fumbled.

''Yeah right! Tell us why do you want to step on that island or I am not going to let you put a paw on it.''

I stared at Kitty. I couldn't believe she wanted to know about my past so bad. She didn't even know it was a big part of my past… That was when I realised I didn't talk about my past with Kitty or Perro. I had just met Perro, but I know Kitty for a long time already.

''My past is there… that is the island I grew up on. Happy?''

I think Kitty had the same realization as me. We don't know anything about each other, but here we are, on a boat together. Perro didn't know what to say to make the tension between us go away. Kitty finally let me lead the boat to the island. I am nervous to see my old friends again. As I was really focused on what I was doing, I didn't realise Kitty came towards me.

''I am sorry for our argument.''

''What argument? I don't consider it an argument.''

''Oh… that's good.''

''I am excited to meet your childhood friends!'' said Perro, who hasn't spoken for a lot of time.

When I stepped out of the boat, everything was already familiar.

''We have to go to the castle. That is where I will find who I am searching for.''

''You are friends with the queen? Wow.'' Answered Kitty, ironic.

''Impressive, huh? I am not sure if she is the queen or princess.''

We started walking on the soft sand of the beach. It was hot, but we got through it. Team friendship entered the village. I got some looks. I think people still recognise me, because I was part of Shrek's crazy gang. Kitty and Perro greeted everyone with respect. I high fived with some of my friends.

When I saw how big the castle has gotten my jaw dropped. Army everywhere, protecting the queen. No expression could be read on their faces. I tried to make them smile every time I passed by the castle when I was a kid.

''Greetings, guards. I am searching for a girl named Fiona.'' I said, confident.

''You mean the queen? I am sorry, but you can't see her right now.''

''Then when?''

''NEVER!''

''Should I punch them?'' whispered Kitty.

''No! You'll ruin my chances.''

Fiona was at the window. She noticed Kitty, Perro and I having a little 'chat' with the guards. She went downstairs and ran to meet me.

''Puss in Boots?! I haven't seen you in ages!'' said Fiona, shocked by my presence.

''Yes! I am glad to see you. I came by the island and decided to visit you. Where is Shrek?''

''He isn't home yet, but you can come inside. Your friends are welcome too.''

I introduced Kitty and Perro really fast because I was excited to enter the pink castle. We entered by the main door. It was the biggest castle I have seen in my life. I didn't remember it to be so big.

''I have a question.'' I said.

''You can ask it.''

''Where is Donkey?''

''Donkey is in our farm, if you want to see him. But first I also want to introduce you to somebody. We became best friends after you left.''

''Oh!''

A whole table full of delicious food was waiting for us upstairs. I wanted to eat all the food. I was really hungry and tired after the road. We all sat down and I wanted to start eating, but Fiona stopped me.

''Don't eat without her. She will come in a bit. I know you are hungry, but wait a little longer.''

I can't just look at the food! Where is she?! The door of the living room opened. I lost my ability to speak when I saw who it was.

''She is Dulcinea. Dulcinea, he is Puss in Boots.''

Dulcinea?! I can't believe she's here! I thought we would never meet again after how things ended in her village… Her eyes widened when she recognised me.

''Puss… is it really you…?''

''Wait, do you know each other?'' asked Fiona.

''Of course we do… after all… how can I forget my first boyfriend. He saved my village a dozen times.''

''It's not quite like that.''

''What do you mean it's not?! We kissed! On the lips!''

I didn't know what to say. Yes, that happened… and I was in love with her. We kissed right when everyone was about to lose every memory they had of me… but the question is… how does she remember?! I kept quiet and I decided to ask all those questions later. She took a seat beside me. Kitty didn't seem in the mood. She was bothered by Dulcinea's existence. That's how I understood her face. I guess we will see what will happen…
