Keep my Eyes on You

The Cullens always leave Rosalie to watch Bella when they go hunting. Frankly, it's grating on Rosalie's nerves. Rosalie has better things to do than watch some dopey human try to awkwardly flirt with her. Rosella endgame.

Prologue

A/N: Every year I think I'm free from Rosella's clutches and every year I get drawn right back in. When will I learn?

Rosalie exhaled, a long, tired and drawn out sound. She was a vampire, so she didn't need to breathe in, much less breathe out. But, it was a human past time she found herself using a lot more recently because it perfectly sums up the situation she had been roped into. The situation, where she had to basically become Bella's babysitter.

Bella was a whole human being, and yet, Edward didn't think she could take care of herself even for a minute if he's so much as away from her side. It's ridiculous, made no less ridiculous by the fact that Rosalie often had to take care of Bella. The woman was 18! She didn't need someone to watch over her. She had survived this long on her own. Surely, she would be fine for one on her own.

Ever since what happened with Victoria, James, and Laurent, Edward had been extremely vigilant of Bella. Vigilant, as in overbearing. He was constantly glued to her side. Rosalie didn't know how Bella could bear it. Rosalie would have snapped long ago by now and told him off to give her some space.

But Bella wasn't like that, which was what lead to this whole issue.

The Cullens had to go feed, but, they couldn't leave Bella alone. So who got volunteered against her will to babysit Bella? It was Rosalie. Rosalie knew why they picked her, but while it made sense it also really didn't.

They felt like Rosalie would be a safer choice. Rosalie had never tasted human blood and therefore would be the least tempted of all of them to drink Bella's blood from sheer hunger alone. And she was stronger, and faster than them all, with the exception of Edward or Emmett. So, Bella would be safe from any outside threat. That being said, they really should have considered Rosalie as the biggest current threat to Bella, because Bella was driving her up the wall!

Rosalie didn't like Bella. Couldn't stand her, and the way she sucked face constantly with Edward. Or kissed up to his ass. The girl needed to have some backbone. And Rosalie had thought she'd made it perfectly clear how much she disliked the human girl. Jasper sure as hell felt her roiling and cyclical emotions of kill, maim, insult, each time Bella was over, which was every damn day! It was like Bella didn't even live in her own house anymore. She came here for dinner, she came here to spend time with Edward and Alice, and she came to sleep over.

It was frustrating! Rosalie's existence had been tainted by that human and it irritated her to no end because she was unavoidable and Rosalie didn't want to leave her own house each time Bella came over, because then Rosalie might as well not even stay in the house anymore.

And yet, despite all this, despite the way Rosalie constantly demeaned, avoided and downright derided Bella on a daily basis- almost like a sport to see how low she could go before Bella finally cracked and stopped trying to be friends- the family still decided Rosalie should watch over her.

"Why can't Alice do this?" Rosalie had very nearly whined. She couldn't help it, she really didn't want to be stuck with Bella. Not alone. "Alice is her best friend. They get along so well."

"Yes, but Alice is tempted by her blood," Carlisle stated sagely and patiently. "You are the one least likely to be tempted to drink Bella."

"But you're a doctor. You're practically insensitive to blood by now," Rosalie pointed out because it was indeed a very valid point.

Carlisle sighed at this, finally caving in to the real reasoning behind this. "Rosalie, don't you see, we're subtly trying to get you and Bella to get along."

"We don't need to get along," Rosalie protested.

"Uh, yea ya do," Emmett butted in. "You're always at her throat, and not like, in the vampire way," Emmett commented unhelpfully. Rosalie glared at him but didn't get to add on anything else.

"We just think you should at least try," Esme said and even Esme was behind this? Rosalie resisted the urge to stomp her foot childishly and leave a crater sized hole in the floor. "Bella always gets so sad when you're mean to her. She said she really would like a chance to spend some quality time with you and try to win you over."

Bella had suggested this? Of course she had. Rosalie really did not want to spend any quality time with her. At all. "And if you don't want to do it for her, do it for me and for Edward. He just wants his family to get along."

Family? Did they already consider Bella a part of it? Oh no, this was even worse. "I'm not mean to her," Rosalie said, crossing her arms over her chest. "She just doesn't get my brand of humor."

Edward snorted at this and Rosalie glared at him too. "Did I say something funny?"

"I don't like her asking to hang out with you too. Quite frankly I could be fine with her while the rest of you go out hunting. But, she really insisted that she wanted all of the family to like her and that she just wanted a chance one on one to work on you getting to know her better," he said, looking slightly annoyed to mention this too.

Rosalie shuddered at that. It did not sound appealing. "Really, it's fine," Rosalie said, trying to strike a bargain. "How about I just treat her more nicely, and you drop this whole thing and have Alice babysit Bella." Rosalie could see Jasper looking confused at the brief flair of irritation tinged with something more cowardly that cut through him from Rosalie. She avoided his questioning gaze. And she made sure her mental walls were up given Edward was here.

"Nope, it's got to be you," Alice cheerfully implied.

"Fine," Rosalie gritted out, really forcing herself to do this. "But just this once." She knew there was no way she was getting out of this no matter how she dug her heels in. So, she relented. Maybe if she did one session it would all be fine and they would give up on this inane idea.

Ignoring her family's cheerful expressions at her acceptance of this, Rosalie went upstairs. And yet, that one session quickly turned into two, then three, and then became a regular thing solely because Bella said they were working just fine even if it wasn't just fine.

Yes, because despite how much Rosalie hated Bella, it wasn't something that came out of nowhere. Rosalie wasn't shallow enough to hate Bella over the fact that Edward chose Bella over Rosalie. It had a bit to do with Edward outing them to a human, but, they had all gotten over it eventually. And Rosalie, though irritated about it sometimes, could not hate Bella for that. If anything she'd hate Edward because he had been the one to break the vampire code of secrecy.

No, in fact it might not even be called hatred if you really looked at it. What it was, was more like fear.

Yes, Rosalie Hale, a vampire forever stuck at 20, was afraid of Bella Swan, the 18 year old human. And for good reason.

Because Bella Swan was trying to seduce her.
