Jayne smiled as she proudly looked at her father. "I enrolled in the police academy."
Robert's face lit up with pride as he gave her a hug. "That's great, I'm so happy for you and proud!"
Jayne hugged him back, so happy to hear those words from her father. Her bond with her parents was something she already cherished so much. "Thank you dad."
Holly loved seeing this. It was something she didn't know she needed but definitely did. "We need to celebrate. Why don't we order some chinese food and watch a movie? You two can pick it out."
"I've always loved the way you think." Robert moved over to Holly and gave her a hug and a kiss, which Holly happily returned.
"That sounds great to me. I love getting to spend time with you two." Jayne beamed, she knew she was an adult, a well accomplished adult as a lawyer but this is what she had always wanted. People who seemed like they genuinely cared. She was fortunate she had had Barry growing up when she did get to go home.
Holly ordered the food while Robert and Jayne decided on a movie for the three of them to watch. "Have you ever seen Rebecca?"
Jayne nodded. "Yes I did, I always felt a weird connection to that movie that I never understood."
Robert got a smile on his face as he spoke to his daughter. "Let me tell you what it is. That movie is very special to your mum and me. When we were figuring out our feelings we watched that. It was the first time I really felt she wanted to be with me and was happy with me."
Jayne loved hearing about her parents, hearing where she came from, "That is so sweet. Is that when it turned into a real marriage?" She asked him.
Robert shook his head. "Not quite but I kissed her and she kissed me back then avoided me like the plague."
The way he said his last statement made Jayne laugh. "I love how you two were friends that fell for each other and how you wanted to help her."
Robert gave a nod. "I love everything about us, the good, the bad and that really ugly. I love your mother and I love that we have you and Ethan."
Holly walked back into the room with plates and drinks. "The food should be here soon, did you decide on a movie?" She asked them.
Jayne nodded. "Seems we all like Rebecca, how does that sound?"
Holly's face lit up, she loved that movie and it really was so special to her. "Sounds lovely."
As soon as the food was delivered the three of them sat down to watch the movie, enjoying their family time together, the time they should have had all those years but were now going to take every chance they could to make up for the time lost.
