Chapter Ten
When a nurse came in and informed Allura that Larmina was out of surgery and that the doctor would be out shortly to talk to them, the word went out since three members of the force were in different locations at the moment. Pidge was up in castle control and Lance and Hunk were at the Repair Bay speaking to security. Security was gathering evidence in the event they needed to prosecute Daniel Lee. Of course copies were being made so if needed to give to Galaxy Garrison. The Arusian people knew something was up since the Queen had cancelled engagements for the rest of the week and they would wait patiently for the explanation aware that she was pregnant.
Upon arriving back in Medical they waited with Allura for the doctor.
Dr. Leina quickly updated the chart and checked on her patient one more time before heading to speak to the Queen and the Voltron Force who were waiting for her. She sighed sadly, looking down at Lady Larmina. The girl was on life support her injuries from the attack had been life-threatening. She was going to have a long recovery ahead of her she knew and she got the feeling that this patient was going to give everyone grief over it because, this girl was not only young but in good physical condition to begin with and she had unlimited amounts of energy and the personality to go with it. The doctor knew because she'd seen Lady Larmina do her workouts outside and when she was younger, scare half the staff around the castle to death with the skills she had learned during her martial arts training. Oh boy she knew she was going to have her work cut out for her with this one.
One of the nurses told her where she could find the Queen and she made her way to the room where they were all waiting. Walking in, she saw Queen Allura seated on a couch while the others stood.
"You're Majesty, Lady Larmina made it through surgery and is now in the ICU on life support. She's going to have a long road to recovery ahead of her.
Allura stifled a cry, Pidge went to sit by her and held her hand.
"How bad," asked Vince his mouth dry with worry.
"She has numerous deep stab wounds resulting in massive blood loss along with serious internal injuries. She also has several broken bones including two broken ribs, broken left humorous and fractured clavicle, There is also swelling on her spinal cord and a head injury. The head injury isn't that serious, the scans show a serious concussion but she will recover from that."
"Her spine, will it be permanent," Lance asked.
"We won't know until the swelling goes down," the doctor replied.
"Can we see her," Allura asked.
"Yes, one or two at a time and for a few minutes. I must warn you, the machines will be unsettling to see."
They all nodded.
Allura went in first with Lance. Just the sight of Larmina on the bed attached to machines had tears coming down her eyes. She took her hand and whispered encouraging words before they left to allow the others to take their turn. Later they would establish a schedule so that someone would be there with Larmina but they were still waiting for word on Keith.
