Back at Cache City, Omegamon sighed as he stood alone in the middle of the street. "Nokia…"
"Something troubling you, friend?"
The knight looked behind him to see BeelStarmon folding his arms behind him. "Ah… BeelStarmon."
"You seem distressed big guy… though not nearly as much as your partner."
Omegamon looked away. "Forgive me, but… I would prefer to be alone right now."
"Would that help you I would be gone now. But you won't solve your problems by mopping." BeelStarmon approached. "I take it Nokia is still down in the dumps?"
"I'm afraid so. She won't even speak to me or come out of her room. All she does is sit on her bed and occasionally cry… it's painful. In all the time I've known Nokia, I have not once seen her like this."
"Yeah, that's rough. I guess that Kiryu guy really got to her. And what my tactless brother said to her beforehand probably doesn't help." BeelStarmon sighed. "He wasn't always like that, you know. Back when he and I ran the team we founded he was a good guy. Yeah, he was rough around the edges, but he cared for others. It's shocking to think of what he is now."
"What caused him to change?"
"Beats me. One day he just dropped out of our group with no explanation. Next thing we knew he was one of the so-called "Deadly Digimon". All I know is that he changed. And I'd hate to see that happen to you or Nokia. So, unlike him who wouldn't tell us anything, you should be out and open with how you feel. You catch my drift?"
Omegamon let out another sigh. "…It's true. Nokia's assault on Under Zero did cause many Rebels and their Digimon to suffer. And it's also true she didn't fully comprehend what she was doing. But her heart was in the right place."
"Sure. She wanted to help Digimon in EDEN."
"Exactly. She wasn't doing it for the sake of her ego like Kiryu accused her. Is it really her fault when she was trying to help others in need? Besides, looking back… I'm at fault too."
"How so?"
"When I went into the human world my memory was wiped. Had I remembered that we hid Arcadiamon in Under Zero I would have told her and prevented her and the Rebels from going into Under Zero in the first place. And now Nokia is suffering in guilt for my incompetence. And for the first time, there is nothing I can do to help her."
BeelStarmon looked in the direction Omegamon was facing. "You two make it sound like you shouldn't be making mistakes ever. But nobody goes through their whole life doing the right thing right away. All of us have our shortcomings and screw things up here and there. Failure is inevitable. My brother… he once told me that the ones who truly fail… are the ones who give up upon facing failure. That no matter how great your loss you can always make the decision to move forward. That as long as you're still alive you can find a new reason to keep going." She looked at Omegamon. "But nothing will change for you while you sit around and mope. If things look bad, you gotta change it yourself. That's how I see Nokia right now. She's getting down after one loss and is letting it take over her life. And you're just going to stand out here and let her be like this?"
"Of course not! But I already tried talking to her. And she wouldn't-
"Then you try again. And if that doesn't get through to her, you try again and again. If you don't get it right the first time, then keep going."
"BeelStarmon…"
"You're her partner, aren't you? Then the last thing you should do is give up on her."
Omegamon took a deep breath then turned to face her. "You're right. I cannot let this be! I have to believe in Nokia and continue trying to get through to her. To help her move beyond her-Our failure."
BeelStarmon smirked. "Now you're talking. So, you gonna take another go?"
"Yes. This is my responsibility as Nokia's partner."
"Then I'll come with you. After all, my idiot brother's tongue lashing got her into this depressed rut. I want to…make amends for that, if I can."
"Thank you, BeelStarmon. Come. Let us go see Nokia."
Zero was staring at an image of Kiryu with a profile of him. "To think this all started because of one of our own. Our mistake from that day sure loves to come back to haunt us, it seems."
Samudramon was standing nearby when he noticed the door open. "Yuuko! Are you alright?"
Yuuko walked in and smiled to her Digimon. "I am. Sorry if I worried you." She then turned her gaze to Zero. "Thinking about Kiryu?"
Zero closed his projection and turned around to face her. "Of course, I am. He's our responsibility after all. He was a member of Zaxon we took under our wing. And after we failed him and his brother, he decided to take everything we taught him and weaponize it against us. A hell of our own making."
"Agreed." Yuuko walked to the side. "The more I think of it, it was obvious Brother Sorrow's identity was. Not realizing it sooner is another failure on our part as his leader."
"I guess so. But we can't change what we've done. No matter how much we want to."
"Exactly. We can only decide where to go from here."
"I take it that means you've decided?"
Yuuko smiled. "I believe I have. I had a talk with Takumi that gave me a sort of clarity."
Zero looked away with a smile of his own. "I see. Takumi... he's not a hatchling anymore."
"Maybe it was us who were the hatchlings the entire time."
"What do you mean?"
Before Zero could get an answer, the door opened again and Keisuke entered the room with Sayo, Koh, and the Ten Legendary Warriors. "Zero. Oh, Yuuko's here too. Good timing."
Zero looked at the group. "Looks like you found our missing friends safe and sound."
Koh nodded. "Yup. Himari and Takuto are with the Sistermon right now. But we got some things to talk about."
"There were captured by GranDracmon." Lobomon explained. "He harvested their energy for Lucemon."
"Isn't Lucemon after the other Deadly Digimon?" Samudramon asked. "Why suddenly gather energy from other Digimon?"
"He mentioned something about…balancing good and evil or some shit?" PileVolcamon said. "He was pretty vague."
"And that's not all." Keisuke said. "We…we ran into Kiryu there as well."
Zero and Yuuko turned to him in surprise. "What?!"
"What was he doing there?!" Yuuko asked. "Did he attack you?!"
"No. After his little "emotional episode" at the keep, he was told not to fight the Resistance for now and was hunting for GranDracmon himself." TyrantKabuterimon replied. "So, we agreed to join forces while we were in the tower. We… had a nice little chat during the search."
Yuuko started to feel nervous but didn't let it show. "…What did he tell you?"
Keisuke shrugged. "Pretty much everything… from his prospective. How he and Subaru met their Digimon, then you, then how they joined Zaxon, how you had them keep tabs on me… what made him quit Zaxon, what happened in Under Zero, how he found out who "Yuugo" was and the delightful little chat he had with you before telling you that you'd be better off getting killed by some random rampaging Digimon over meeting him again. Guess he's keeping his word now."
Yuuko sighed. "So… you heard what I said?"
"We did." Agunimon replied.
Zero looked at Yuuko. "What you said? What's going on?"
"It happened after we confronted you with Takumi and Ami." Samudramon replied. "Kiryu uncovered Yuuko's identity and contacted her. He demanded an explanation for her actions and Subaru's fate…"
"And then Yuuko here decided to write off our partner's demise like it was an honorable sacrifice for the greater good." Lobomon said.
Zero had a shocked expression then groaned with a hand over his face. "Oh, come on Yuuko!"
The girl sighed. "I know, I know…it just…slipped out."
"That would certainly explain why he wants you dead." Machinedramon said.
"Indeed." Agunimon said. "Kiryu loved his brother. He would do anything to protect him. Then after he was consumed by Eaters along with us because YOU refused to listen to the opinions of others, you had the nerve to act like what happened to him was a good thing."
Yuuko's face saddened further. "Agunimon… Lobomon…" She got onto her knees and lowered her head. "I am so, so sorry."
Samudramon gasped looking at her. "Yuuko!"
"I was so desperate to fix the EDEN that was my father's dream and take it back from those who would use it to help others! I told myself I had to do something regardless of the danger and because of that I disregarded the safety of Subaru and all the others in Zaxon to try to do what I knew Jude broke apart over…I thought I could do better than them…but I was wrong…and you two…Subaru…Kiryu…you all paid the price for my misjudgment…"
Agunimon and Lobomon stared at her, not saying anything. After having enough of the silence Zero spoke up. "So, what will you two do now that you know this?"
"What do you mean?" Lobomon asked.
"You could get your revenge on me and Yuuko right now. You could join Kiryu in the Next Order. What will you do?"
Agunimon folded his arms. "Yuuko… Zero… you two were wrong to challenge Under Zero just as Kiryu said. And he and Subaru suffered far more than either of you despite it being a result of your mistake. I have far more sympathy for them then you two…"
"It's true." Lobomon said. "And if you did reel in your pride Subaru wouldn't be suffering, and Kiryu wouldn't be giving us hell…" Yuuko lowered her head with her shaking fists on the floor. "However… there are other factors to all this as well."
Yuuko looked up at them. "Huh?"
"Such as the fact that Subaru also chose to ignore Kiryu's warning and join you in Under Zero. Then there is the fact that Agunimon and I chose not to try to convince him not to go."
Agunimon nodded. "And there's the fact that we failed to protect him from the Eaters. Zaxon may have been your responsibility… but as our partner and our friend…Subaru was our responsibility. And we failed him. Furthermore, if it weren't for what you did to help us when we first me, we never would have lived to become partners with Subaru in the first place."
"Agunimon…Lobomon…"
"You may have made mistakes, but so did we." Agunimon smiled. "And it doesn't change the good you have done."
"Either way, we already swore we would stop the Next Order." Lobomon said. "And we will keep that promise. Subaru was always fascinated to hear about our home. I'm sure this is what he would want us to do."
"Agunimon… Lobomon… thank you." Yuuko stood up.
"About Subaru…" Zero said. "There is something I've always wondered… why did he decide to leave Kiryu's side to join our assault? He never objected to what his brother wanted before…"
"I don't know." Aguinimon replied. "Some of our memories are still missing… including why he stayed in Zaxon after Kiryu left."
"There's something else I've been wondering about." Dianamon said. "Kiryu acted weird around Sayo and Koh."
"I noticed that too." Apollomon nodded. "He seemed to pause whenever they said certain things. And he seemed oddly trusting of them..."
"I think I might know why." Lobobmon said. He waited for all eyed to focus on him before he continued. "You two share similar beliefs from Subaru and Kiryu's grandfather."
"The soldier they look up to?" Sayo asked.
"How so?" Koh asked.
Agunimon folded his arms and looked up. "Have the courage to trust". "Instead of blaming yourself for trying and failing, become stronger". Those were things Subaru said his grandpa told him and Kiryu."
Sayo closed her eyes and smiled. "Sounds like a wise man. No wonder they look up to him."
"I see… Anyway, Subaru must have had a reason for staying in Zaxon…" Keisuke said. "Maybe if you can remember what that reason was it will help temper Kiryu's anger."
"I wouldn't put too much hope on that." Zero said. "Kiryu's made his intentions clear. We are better off assuming he will remain our enemy from this point onward."
"Zero!" Yuuko glared. "You don't know that! There might still be a chance-
"Even if this "chance" does exist it doesn't change that Kiryu will continue to attack the Resistance. Fighting him as it stands is inevitable. We will have to confront him at some point." Zero looked at Agunimon and Lobomon. "Can you two bring yourselves to fight him when the time comes?"
Agunimon and Lobomon went silent before the Warrior of Fire spoke up. "…If necessary, yes. I feel for Kiryu… but I cannot abide what he or the Next Order is doing."
Lobomon sighed. "Agreed. The thought of battling Kiryu is unpleasant... but I cannot overlook the damage he is doing in the name of revenge. He has to be stopped. ...However...I think we should at least try to convince him like Keisuke said. Kiryu is a good man. He deserves better than this."
Agunimon nodded. "Agreed. And after everything he and Subaru have done for us...if we can help him...I believe we owe it to him to give it a shot."
Yuuko smiled. "I agree. My friends didn't give up on me. It's time I learned from their example. I'm sure we can find a way through to Kiryu one way or another!"
"Let's do it then." Keisuke said. "We'll find a way to open his eyes!"
"You'd all be wasting your time." Everyone turned to Zero in shock.
"What?" Yuuko asked. "What are you saying?!"
"Kiryu has become obsessed with vengeance. All that matters to him is that he kills you Yuuko. And he doesn't care who else he needs to destroy in order to do that. There is no getting through to him at this point."
"You don't know that! We-
"Actually Yuuko I do indeed know that. And do you know how I know? You used to be the exact same way as him, remember? After learning of how Crusadermon killed your father didn't you only care about getting revenge? When Takumi tried to warn you of the dangers of obsessing over vengeance, didn't you ignore his warnings and proceed to insult him?"
"That's... I-
"In the end all you cared about was revenge on Crusadermon until you finally struck her down. You should know better than anyone that the desire for vengeance can only end in one of two ways. Either by satisfying that desire by claiming it or dying before doing so."
"No!" Yuuko glared. "There has to be another way!"
Zero laughed. "And what would that be Yuuko? Are you going to offer him the same advice Takumi tried to give you that you so carelessly ignored?"
"Kiryu isn't me Zero! And more importantly as the one who set him on this path, I owe it to him to try!"
Zero sighed. "Ah, now I see. This isn't about helping Kiryu. It's about your selfish pride."
"Excuse me?!"
"You once again believe you are right, and he is wrong. That is why you want to dissuade him even though he is making the same choice you once did."
"That's not what I-
Zero turned his back to Yuuko. "The only thing we can do to save Kiryu... is stop the monster he's become. That is the only way we can atone for creating "Brother Sorrow". That is what we owe to all those of the Resistance who were slain by the man we molded him into. You all would do well to remember that." He walked out of the room. Machinedramon followed him out.
Everyone stared at the door in silence. "...What was THAT about?" Kumamon asked.
"That jerk!" Ranemon scowled. "Kiryu used to be so loyal to him and went above and beyond the call of duty for his sake, and he acts like he doesn't care!"
"Maybe he doesn't." Mercurymon said.
Everyone turned to him. "Mercurymon!" Kazemon scolded.
"Or to be more precise... maybe he lacks to ability to care. Remember, he is an A.I. something programmed to do what his creator wills. It cannot feel remorse or sympathy. It simply carries out its prime directive. It's not his fault, it's simply how he was created."
"I guess but..." Keisuke thought back to his encounter with Zero at Zaxon's Pride base. How he hesitated to reveal what he was to his team. And how he marshaled everyone together even after doing so. "I'm not so sure if he can't feel anything. Isn't it possible he might still have a heart?"
"I admit my knowledge on A.I.s is limited so I may be overlooking something..."
Arbormon folded his arms. "Either way Zero may have had a point."
"Oh, don't YOU start too!" Bettlemon growled.
"Kiryu will destroy Yuuko or die trying. He said as much to our faces, remember? We should brace ourselves for the worst-case scenario."
"Are you saying we should just give up on him?!" Koh asked.
"Not at all. I am by no means against attempting to pursue him. Like Yuuko said we should at least try. After all, between K, Doctor Datamon and his friends and Silphymon and his platoon, we have successfully won over members of the Next Order before. That is enough for me to believe there is a chance. However, you said it yourself Yuuko. Kiryu is not you. He may not see the same morality you awoke to. If it comes down to it... there may be a chance that ending him is the only way. I just want you to prepare yourself for that outcome. Agunimon and Lobomon are prepared to take the hard route. You need to brace yourself as well."
Yuuko sighed. "...I understand. But I still want to believe in the Kiryu I once knew. I'm going to do whatever I can to try to save him. And if it doesn't work out... I'll accept responsibility for what comes next."
"Very good. Then know that we will be right behind you."
"Aww, you DO care!" Ranemon grinned.
"I think the big guy's starting to grow a heart!" Grumblemon grinned.
Arbormon folded his arms and turned away. "Hmph."
"Then we are in agreement." Agunimon said. "As members of Zaxon, we must take responsibility for what Kiryu has become."
"This is about more than just Zaxon." Hudiemon said. "The fate of the Digital World is riding in this. So, Hudie is with you too. And so is the rest of the Resistance for that matter."
Yuuko smiled. "Thank you everyone."
Just then the door opened again and Omegamon came rushing in with BeelStarmon. He looked around the room. "Not here either...!"
Keisuke stared at his face. "Omegamon? What's with you, you looked horrified."
"Has anyone seen Nokia?" BeelStarmon asked.
"Not recently, no." Sayo replied.
"Isn't she still in her room?" Yuuko asked.
"We went to talk to her, but she isn't there!" Omegamon panicked. "And we asked Takumi, Ami, Mameo, Shiki, Darcmon, nobody has seen her!"
"Calm down Omegamon, we'll help you find her." Hudiemon said. "Keisuke tell Mirei and see if she can find her on any of the security feed. I'm going to speak to the others."
"Right." Keisuke put his Digivice on. "I got a bad feeling about this..."
In a dark space Lucemon Larva floated over a magic circle. White light flowed into him. Nearby GranDracmon was in front of a machine watching a monitor. Once it turned blue, he pressed a button and the circle faded. "The process is done milord. How do you feel?"
Lucemon opened his eyes. "Excellent. The holy power you acquired from the fools at the Resistance has helped me achieve the golden balance I desire. Now all I need is to complete the Dark Prophecy and my reign shall begin."
"Now comes the hard part." GranDracmon folded his arms. "Finding Beelzemon. This would have been a lot easier if he joined the Next Order with the rest of you Deadly Digimon. But that fool could be wondering anywhere in the Digital World. I don't have a clue how to begin our search."
Lucemon cackled. "Worry not my friend. I have an idea..."
"Nokia did WHAT?!" Ami shouted.
Mirei sighed. "I'm afraid Nokia has run away."
"What do you mean "run away"?!" Himari asked.
"Exactly what it sounds like. I went over the security footage, and it showed Nokia entering the teleporter and disappearing."
"She left the city?!" Takumi asked. "Without Omegamon?!"
"Has she finally lost her mind?! Next Order forces could be anywhere!" Arata yelled.
"This is my fault..." Omegamon growled. "I should not have left her alone..."
"Why would she do this?!" Luche asked. "And where is she going?!"
"She's been out of it ever since Kiryu gave her that brutal tongue lashing back at Extinguish Keep." Fei sighed. "Damn it... we should have seen this coming..."
"Look, we can lament our mistakes all we want but that won't solve anything!" Kouta said. "Right now, we need to find her!"
"Kouta is right." Darcmon nodded. "Do we have any idea where she went?"
"I already checked the teleporters log." Hudiemon said. "The problem is, we've been sending so many Digimon in and out recently it's impossible to confirm which location she went to."
"Then we need to check them all." Mameo replied. "It's too dangerous for her to be out alone with her current state of mind!"
"I couldn't agree more." Magnamon nodded. "Let's assemble our search teams and head out!"
Shoma, Mameo, along with their partners, Omegamon, BeelStarmon, Gundramon, and MagnaKidmon appeared in Connect Jungle. "This is one of the most recent locations." Mameo said. "According to Darcmon Grizlymon, Dinohumon, and Gallantmon were out here searching for food supplies from the trees about an hour ago."
"None of them saw Nokia though, did they?" File asked. "And why would she come here anyway?"
"She might have slipped by them." Noir replied. "And it could be that she didn't have a location in mind but rather went off at the first place she saw on the teleporter coordinates. She might have been wanting to get away from us."
Mameo adjusted his hat. "Hmm... Nokia isn't a very technical person, but the teleporter isn't that hard to operate. It's hard to say whether or not she had a location in mind. In any case even if she isn't here, there's a good chance she's in one of the locations the others are checking. Let's put our faith in them and do what we can here."
BelleStamon nodded. "You heard the human boys, we got us a job to do!"
"Yes ma'am!" MagnaKidmon and Gundramon nodded.
Lucemon Larva and GranDracmon looked at a violet pool in front of them. From within it projected an image of the group in Connect Jungle. "There she is." Lucemon Larva cackled. "Like I said, feel out the power of the Royal Knights and find the Resistance that the girl now works with, and we will eventually find her."
"I was prepared to spend days tracking them before we find her." GranDracmon said. "It seems luck is on our side. The only Digimon partnered with humans in that group are that runt and the Enforcer. They won't be an issue."
"Then the time to strike has come." Lucemon said. "Come GranDracmon!"
"Yes milord." The two turned around and left the water puddle that showed BeelStarmon.
Mameo was looking at his Digivice. "Any luck on your end guys?"
"Erika, Justimon, Shakkoumon and I are on URL Mountain right now." Keisuke said. "No sign of Nokia so far. What about you guys?"
"Takumi, UlforceVeedramon, Magnamon and I are combing Noise Beach right now." Yuuko said. "Nothing so far."
"Well if Magnamon and UlforceVeedramon are there at least we can trust you two are focused on Nokia and not each other." Shiki said.
"Yeah." Ami replied. "I know you two have brought things to the next level but try to focus, okay?"
"Next level?" Yuuko asked. "What in the world is she talking about Takumi?"
"You got me. Anyway, you girls, Arata and Takuto are with at Browser Forrest, yeah?"
"That we are." Arata said. "If that dolt is here, we'll find her."
"Himari, Sayo, Koh, and I are searching Software Tundra." Kouta said. "Good call making us who don't feel cold search this place, but it's still hard to see past these flurries. I sure hope Nokia isn't here or she'll be a popsicle by the time we find her."
"Leave Cracker Field to me, Fei, Kentaurosmon and Darcmon." Yuugo said.
"I'm keeping everyone else on standby." Mirei said. "If something comes up call me and I'll send reinforcements your way."
"Appreciate it." Mameo said before hanging up and continuing his walk with his team.
"How could I have been so careless?" Omegamon asked. "Nokia was hurt and unstable. I wasn't there when she needed me..."
"She was struck with unbelievable grief and guilt." Shoma said. "I know what it's like. It made sense to think she needed space, there was only so much you could do."
"She wouldn't be suffering that guilt if I kept her away from Under Zero in the first place."
"That's enough Omegamon." Noir said. "We cannot change the past. All we can do right now is find Nokia and bring her home."
"You're right."
File pushed a tree aside staring into an opening. And walking into the center of that clearing in the trees... "Look! Over there!"
Everyone hurried over and saw Nokia walking through the wreckage of Harmony Village alone. "Nokia!" Omegamon shouted as he and the others hurried towards her.
The girl gasped and turned around. "Guys... what are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing!" Memeo replied. "Don't you know it's dangerous to be out here on your own?"
"You had everyone worried sick!" MagnaKidmon said. "What in tarnation were ya thinking?! Ya coulda at least brought your partner!"
"She can tell us when we get home." Gundramon said. "Come on Nokia."
Nokia looked away. "...I am going home. Back to my world."
"...What?" Omegamon stared at her.
"This is where we ended up where we came to the Digital World, right? So, I figured I could go back from here."
"Nokia... that portal no longer exists. It requires Kahuhamon's power for us to go to your world last time, remember?"
"Oh yeah." Nokia faintly chuckled. "Classic me, right? I can't even think hard enough to go home right."
"Nokia, what's gotten into you?" Shoma asked.
Nokia looked away. "...I came here because I wanted to help Digimon... but who was I kidding. All I'm good for is making mistakes and causing people trouble. I'm not like Takumi, Ami or Keisuke. I'm not nearly as brave, or smart, or reliable...They'd all be better off without me dragging them down."
"Nokia... this is about what Kiryu said isn't it?" Shoma asked. "About Under Zero."
"...Yeah. I told myself it was to help Digimon in EDEN. But like Kiryu said, I didn't even understand Under Zero. I didn't even know what I was supposed to do if I did reach it. I just assumed that if I could get there before Yuuko everything would work out... but all I did was ignore Arata's warning even though he was older and smarter than me. And look what happened."
"Nokia, that wasn't your fault." Omegamon said. "Crusadermon set you up."
"No, she set Yuuko up! She was planning to trap her team when she made her announcement! She didn't plan on my bringing the Rebels there! It was an unnecessary tragedy because I was being stupid! I just acted without thinking, same as I always do! It's just like what happened at Extinguish Keep! I got cocky and charged in without thinking and so many Digimon in the Resistance got hurt thanks to me setting off the alarm!"
"Nokia... you were desperate to help because your friends and many Digimon were in danger." Shoma said. "You didn't want anyone to get hurt."
"But Digimon got hurt anyway! And not just the ones on our side! All those Digimon in the Next Order we destroyed... what if some of them didn't realize what the Next Order was doing like Agumon Expert and his friends?! I never even stopped to consider the position they were in! I just tore through whatever was in my way! Just like how I was so caught up I'm my own goals to even consider the people and Digimon that got hurt in Under Zero because of me!" As her voice cracked tears went down Nokia's cheeks. "It's just like Beelzemon and Kiryu said! I'm just being selfish and self-righteous to the point where I don't care who gets hurt from my actions that I don't think on before or after I do them!"
Everyone stared at her as she cried. Shoma put his hands in his pockets as he aproached Nokia. "...Your intentions were pure. You wanted to help Digimon. But then you made a wrong turn... and it led to something you never wanted. I know what that's like. When Luche was my Digimon partner and my selfish actions led to her disappearing, I was desperate to restore her... then when I discovered the Digital World... there I found an odd object that spoke to me... promised to help me... next thing I knew I was unleashing the Brain Hack Program upon the Digital World hurting countless of innocents. All because I wanted to help someone...regardless of the consequences."
Noir looked at his partner. "Shoma..."
"After the incident was resolved I wanted to disappear for my crimes. But my friends forgave me... even Noir and Luche, the biggest victims of my crimes offered forgiveness. At first, I felt I was undeserving of it... but while journeying thought the Digital World and helping many Digimon... I came to realize something. Disappearing for my crimes wouldn't make up for them. Instead, it's better to live and atone. By helping others. If I did vanish, those I helped would still be in trouble. Ending things isn't repenting for your mistakes. It's just the coward's way out of taking responsibility for them." Shoma gently put a hand on Nokia's shoulder. "Nokia...do you want to make up for all the people and Digimon that were hurt by your actions?"
Nokia took a deep breath between the sobbing. "Of course, I do! But..."
"The why are you running away? That won't change what happened. It will only sadden your friends. You may not have the most brilliant mind. But you do have two things I lacked back then. Courage and heart." Shoma smiled. "The coward's way out...is far beneath someone like you."
Nokia looked him in the eye. "Courage and...heart...?"
"Shoma is right Nokia." Mameo smiled. "You had the courage and heart to stand up for Digimon that nobody else would. And sure, you made mistakes, but who hasn't?"
"And think of all those you helped with your actions." BeelStarmon added. "Don't dwell on the bad while ignoring the good."
Omegamon kneeled in front of Nokia. "Nokia...I too have many, many regrets. But following you to Under Zero was not one of them. I knew there were risks. So did the Rebels. But I followed you because I knew you were trying your hardest to do the right thing. That's why Darcmon entrusted the Rebels Heart to you. Because she knew you would do what you felt was right with no hesitation. Don't lose sight of what you want to achieve Nokia. That's what earned my respect. That's what earned the respect off all the hackers that stopped Leopardmon's scheme."
Nokia stared at him. "Omegamon..."
"Nokia...you have made mistakes. But that's nothing to be ashamed off. Mistakes are inevitable. What's important is that you admit to those mistakes and now have the chance to become better. You can still do so much to help in this world Nokia. And I..." Omegamon held a hand towards his partner. "I will be there to support you all the way. As your partner. As your fellow Rebel. And as your friend."
Nokia stared at the serenity in Omegamon's eyes. "Omegamon...I..." She slowly reached for his hand. But just when they were about to touch a loud blast came from the Royal Knight's back and he collapsed. "Omegamon!" Nokia could see a large hole burnt in the back of hid cape.
"Isn't that precious. While I hate to rain on your parade Royal Knight..." Everyone looked up to see GranDracmon hovering above them. "I'm afraid you won't be around long enough to do anything more with this world."
"G...GranDracmon...!" Nokia shuddered.
"So you're the one working with Lucemon." Mameo glared.
"Did somebody call for me?" Lucemon Larva then emerged.
"You...!" Noir glared.
"Nokia..." Omegamon grunted as he tried to stand up. Lucemon Larva's wings glowed, and javelins of light rained down piercing through Omegamon pinning him to the ground.
"OMEGAMON!" Nokia screamed in horror as her Digimon was skewered.
Noir looked at him the at Lucemon. "You should be weak in that form! Where did you get that power?!"
GranDracmon laughed. "Think of it as a donation from your Resistance."
"The energy you stole from Ceil and the others...!" Mameo glared.
"Stole"? They should be honored. For through their strength this world shall be saved."
"Saved? By a Deadly Digimon?" BelleStamon asked. "You foul demons know nothing about salvation or justice."
Lucemon Larva laughed. "Harsh words young lady. Isn't your dear big brother one of us "foul demons"?"
"Hmph. That doesn't matter to me anymore."
Nokia looked at her in shock. "BelleStamon?!"
"What? He doesn't care about me or anyone other then himself. Why should I give a damn for him?"
Lucemon Larva laughed. "Is that what you think. Consider this. Why was he in Extinguish Keep? Or better yet why suddenly leave the Four Musketeers, a team that meant everything to him, in order to join our ranks?"
"What the hell are you getting at?"
"Why don't you ask him when you see him?" GranDracmon smirked. "But for now...let's have a little fun, shall we?!"
Beelzemon was standing alone folding his arms as he looked over a cliff. Down below him was an empty space. But in his eyes, he could see the faint image of BeelStarmon, Gundramon, MagnaKidmon, and…himself. The Four Musketeers happily eating and drinking in front of a campfire. Until MagnaKidmon had a bit to much to drink and started firing wildly into the air laughing like a maniac. Beelzemon sighed shaking his head as Gundramon whacked his trigger-happy friend in the back of the head prompting laughter from BeelStarmon.
On top of the cliff Beelzemon smiled at the memory. "Heh… we used to think all we ever needed was each other… now here I am, the lone wolf Deadly Digimon while they work for the Resistance. How times change." His eyes widened as something snapped to him. He turned around looking into the forest. "This energy I'm sensing…! It feels like…Lucemon?! No, not just him… Lilithmon…Leviamon…Creepymon…Barbramon...and Belphamon…! I can feel all of their energy as well! What the hell's going on? Wait…" His breathing nearly stopped. "Is that…?" After freezing in shock for a bit he whistled. His bike came to him and he jumped on it before charging into the trees.
And Lucemon makes his move. What's his aim by attacking the Resistance? Will the Three Musketeers, Shoma and Mameo be able to defeat the Deadly Digimon of Pride and GranDracmon? Find out next week.
