Chapter 6

Percy

I went downstairs to where mum was immediately after the meeting. I couldn't believe that there were monsters living next to us! I mean, I should have anticipated it, with all my records with them.

"Mum?" I called.

"In the kitchen!" She called back, "Wait a minute."

She came out with a batch of newly baked cookies and put them on the table, "So what's up?" She sat down.

I went and sat down next to her and had a serious expression, "Mum, what I'm about to tell you is very important, please listen to me before making your decision."

Mum had a concerned face after hearing my tone, well, who won't? I did not become serious unless the situation were really serious. "Darling, what is it?" She leaned forward.

"Vampire exists." I said bluntly. Mum turned pale and her expression turned from concern to fear, but it was gone in an instant and turned impassive.

"Vampires? Pff." She chuckled, "Greek monsters are one thing, but vampires don't exist."

"I know you are lying mum," I warned, "I think you know something about them."

"Of course I don't! If I do, why would I move here?" She attempted to wave me off, but she couldn't fool me.

"Mum..." I warned.

"Fine." She sighed, "I just didn't want you to worry."

"I'm already worrying."

"I know, that why I think this story would be best if the others are here as well." She nodded to herself, "I'm only going to say it once."

"Sure Mum." I said cheerfully, "I'll go get them then." And I dashed upstairs.

I never saw Mum smiled sadly behind me, as she murmured, "So young, yet got dragged into all sorts of supernatural events, but this one shall be the most dangerous. Be ready, Percy."

Timeskip

"So you say Sally has something to tell us?"

"Well, she told me to get you as she is going to tell a story and she will only say it once."

"A story? I thought you were telling her about the problems."

"When I told her about it, she seemed to already know so..."

"I hope it's worth the time, I was sleeping."

The door to the kitchen opened as we went in. Mum was already sitting there eating cookies while waiting for us.

"Nooooo! Cookies!" Nico wailed and he pushed me out of the way in his scramble to get the cookies.

"Nico!" Annabeth scolded, "Get back here this instant!"

Nico twirled his skull ring sheepishly, "Sorry."

"Anyway," Thalia rolled her eyes and looked at Mum, "What story are you going to tell us?"

"Right." She prepared herself, and released a breath, "The truth is, I'm a vampire-human hybrid."

Silence.

"What?" We exploded.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Since when?"

"How?"

"So we have vamoire-human hybrids now?"

"Boys!" Mum raised her voice, "Calm down and let me explain!"

"How are we suppose to calm down after you dropped that bomb?" I complained, but inwardly I was taken aback, as Mum never, I meant never raised her voice in any situation. It's like I was seeing the side of Mum I've never seen before.

"Just let her continue." Annabeth shot me a look, that clearly said shut up, I want to know how as well and your whining is not helping.

"Thank you, Annabeth," Mum clapped her hands, "Right, this is a secret that nobody knows apart from me, so I don't want any interruptions, are we clear, boys?" She looked pointly at us.

We nodded, and she started her story.

"My mother was a young woman with the name Alexandra Jackson, and my father is Niklaus Mikaelson. My mother was the only person father truly loved. When they had me, it was the best day of their life. I was a cheerful little girl, always curious about all sorts of things, and all my father's subordinates warmed up to me. I was really happy.

But at the same time, father's brothers were bothered with how my presence affected him. He became less aggressive and more gentle. They didn't like it, so they baked up a plan to dispatch me and break his 'little sunlight'. They ordered a vampire to chase me down and say that my father sent him to kill me, but unfortunately for him, I practiced vampire slaying with my father's men everyday, so after I finish him off, I ran away from Mystic Falls since I believed my father didn't want me anymore.

My father was devastated when he heard what his brothers did, so he stabbed them all with a stake and put them into a comatose state since even though they killed his daughter, he did not have the heart to kill them. It was after 50 years that he found me, and he pleaded for me to come home, but I refused, still believing he ordered that henchman to kill me, but he said that he would never, and will await for my return date.

It was only last month when Paul received the invitation to teach in Mystic Falls High school I had the opportunity to return here." She finished.

We were all wide-eyed after hearing her story, and the first thing out of my mouth were, "How old are you?" I blurted.

Mum blinked, and she lightly pulled my ear, "A man should never ask a woman her age, where's your manners?"

"Ow ow ow ow!" I yelped in pain, "Stop it! Mum!"

She laughed lightly and released me, only then did I notice my cousins' barely suppressed laughter, so I pouted.

Annabeth took pity on me and asked Mum herself, "Though we really want to know, Sally, how old really are you?"

She winked and chuckled, "And that is a secret you need to find out yourselves." She stood up and brushed off imaginary dust from her laps, "Now we're done, you guys need to get ready for school next week so Paul will bring you all around the town tomorrow."

Thalia winced, "I totally forgot about that."

"Do we need to?" Nico groaned.

Mum laughed and went to the door, "Go and relax for today, we have a looonnng day tomorrow."

"Do we all know it?" I sighed dejectedly.
