Chapter 5:
Jack was practicing with the Toons.
"Okay guys," says Lola, "now, what do we do?"
"We just pass the ball to Jack," says Plucky.
"Wrong," says Lola, "we can't just rely on him. There's no 'I' in team."
"That's how me spell it," says Dizzy, "T-E-I-Platypus-48-M."
"I'm guessing Professor Taz taught you that," says Plucky.
"Jack?" Everyone looks and Jack is surprised to see Meiying has entered. "It's you!" Meiying then runs up and hugs her friend.
"Meiying, what are you doing here," asks Jack.
"Looking for you! What's going on?"
"I'm helping my friends."
"Okay, by the way, I have to ask... ARE YOUR FRIENDS CARTOON CHARACTERS?"
"Yeah," says Jack, "you got a problem with it?"
"No...I-I'm sure this is a normal thing. So, let's get back home."
"Hold it," says Babs, "we need Jack's shoes... I mean we need Jack to shoot hoops."
"Yeah, we need his help to beat Duck Vader," says Buster.
"Jack, can I talk to you... privately," asks Meiying.
. . .
"So, let me get this straight, you're going to use your magic shoes to help the Tiny Toons win a basketball game," asks Meiying.
"Yeah and besides you, only Bugs and Babs know."
"Jack, do you realize that ever since you put on those shoes, things have made no sense?"
"Look, they need my help."
Meiying sighs. "Alright, but you're going to need my help."
. . .
"So, you want to join the team," asks Lola, "you got the skills?"
Meiying then demonstrates her basketball skills.
"Magnifique," says Fifi.
"You're in," says Lola.
Everyone then walks and Jack runs over to Meiying. "Meiying, how come you're not on our school's basketball team?"
"I'm not joining without my best friend," says Meiying, "besides, it's mostly sweaty guys and the smell is terrible." They then both look at Fifi. "Oh boy."
