CHAPTER 7:
Bullhead
As Pan lay in her hammock, she noticed Trunks re-enter the spaceship and silently climb back into his upper bunk bed. He did his typical thing where he lay on his side, facing out the window until his breathing became more steady and she knew he was asleep. Luckily for Pan, Trunks fell asleep fairly quickly and slept pretty deeply, so once Trunks was out, Pan had her own time to think, and to reflect back on her life leading up to her upcoming marriage with him.
Pan grew up in a house where women won all of the fights. While the men held pissing contests, the women were the ones who grabbed their noses at the end of the day and boxed some sense into them. Her Grandma Chi Chi and her Mama Videl were forces that made the men in her family cower. They were incredible role models for the kind of strength that women held within a nuclear family.
In addition to the strong women in her family, Pan also grew up with some incredible models for other kinds of strengths.
As a little girl, she was often regaled with the stories of adventure and heroism from all of her closest and dearest family members. They all had, in their own ways, saved the world.
It all started with Pan's Grandpa Goku, who iconified overcoming limits of physical strength. Although these days he was a half-head shorter than Pan, there was a whole huge time that Grandpa Goku was "the guy" to finish off the bad guys when the world was in danger. He beat King Piccolo, and Frieza. He even brought down Vegeta and turned him into a good guy (well, eventually). The biggest, most important thing that Grandpa Goku had done, though, was bring down Majin Buu.
Majin Buu became the important marker because, as Pan's Mama Videl had told her many times, that was the day that she fell in love with her Papa. And as all the stories went within her house, all their stories were told in eras: "Before Majin Buu" and "After Majin Buu."
Before Majin Buu, her Papa Gohan was a super hero. And Papa was an incredible model of strength of heart and knowledge.
Her Papa trained with many different people, ranging from her Grandpa to Mr. Piccolo, and even to the Supreme Kais, themselves! He was given all kinds of rounded education in physical prowess in addition to his book knowledge, and it made him super powerful and smart. So when it came to fighting with the heart, it boosted his resolve.
Papa Gohan was able to prove that fighting with the body and spirit was important to save the world. It was only though his strength of heart that he was the first of the Saiyans to break through and transform into what Papa called "Super Saiyan 2," which is how he achieved the kind of strength to defeat Perfect Cell, and save the world. But his heart didn't just stop there - he also proved that even when his family was weakened due to emotional issues at home, he could still be a strong support for the whole family. Her Papa held their family together for the past however-many years.
Another person who held together her family was her Gramps Hercule, who demonstrated strength of character.
While most of the world was misled to think that her Gramps defeated Cell instead of her Papa, her Gramps Hercule, Champion of the World, was still just as worthy of his grandiose title.
Her Gramps Hercule was not only the coolest, most awesomest guy in the world, but he also proved his awesome strength of his character by being best friends with Majin Buu - the same Majin Buu that her Grandpa Goku defeated years ago, except this version of Majin Buu was the good guy Majin Buu. This version demonstrated strength of friendship.
Pan tried to remember how the story was told to her about Majin Buu. It did admittedly get confusing. From what she understood, when Majin Buu "died" from her Grandpa Goku's Spirit Bomb, he split into two halves. Because Majin Buu was immortal , his physical body continued to live on within his pink, burly goo frame, and his soul had been reincarnated within a young boy named Uub. That same boy is the one what Grandpa Goku vanished for ten years to train.
Pan never met Uub, but she did know Majin Buu fairly well. And she loved Buu. He was so friendly, and he was always so sweet to Pan when she was a little girl. Pan would always climb onto him and he would let her bounce on his belly and pull at his cheeks, and would just laugh with his big ol' jolly guffaw. Pan had fun memories of Buu. He sometimes was even hella funny. He often would listen to her whenever she came up with fun little pranks, too. She often felt warm feelings when she'd recall how she'd dress him up for the holidays with a big red and white coat and hat, and he would fly around during Holiday Eve shouting "HOO HOO HOO" and as he tossed candy through peoples' fireplaces.
Despite how Buu was fun and easy to befriend, what she loved the most was how Majin Buu made her Gramps Hercule so happy… especially after so many years of being unhappy. Her Mama Videl often talked about how Gramps had been so miserable after Pan's Grandma Miguel. From what Pan recalled of the story, Grandma Miguel used to be an international singer. Her Gramps had met her at a tournament overseas after she had sung the open ceremony song. Pan heard he fell in love with her voice. After he had gone on to win the tournament, he found her and asked her out, and they had a beautiful love story for a little while. They got married and had Videl, but shortly afterward, her Grandma Miguel died as one of the earliest cases of the Viral Heart Disease. At the time, there was neither a vaccine nor antidote available. That was the same virus that her Grandpa Goku had been sick with a few years later - the virus that Future Trunks came back from the future to help him survive, by providing the antidote years before it was actually discovered.
Pan heard that if Grandpa Goku never received the Viral Heart medicine, that the world would have become a much darker, bleaker place. At least, that's what her Papa told her that Future Trunks said. And in that horrible timeline spinoff, her Papa and Mama would have never met. So in many ways, Pan also considered Future Trunks her hero. Not her Trunks - the one from Pan's own timeline, and the spoiled-rich-man-kid who was traveling her, but the person her Trunks could have been… and who knows, maybe he might live up to still become. Pan hadn't given up on her Trunks yet… because she knew of the person who should have been his role model:
Future Trunks.
Pan grew up with stories of Future Trunks. He demonstrated to her the strength of sacrifice and martyrdom.
He single-handedly took down the androids that had destroyed his alternate-timeline world, at great sacrifice of losing almost everyone he ever loved. Her Papa had been his mentor in that timeline, before he had perished and left Future Trunks all alone in the world to fight.
It was a sad yet bittersweet story that was told to her. And, like a fairytale, Pan tried to connect the dots between her own Papa and Trunks, trying to picture their own special, unspoken connection… But that all went away when her Papa started talking smack about Trunks, blaming him for being a bad influence after Goten dropped out from college.
As a big girl now, and seeing how her Papa and Current-timeline Trunks were very different than the one described from the alternate future, Pan realized that she had been daydreaming the whole connection between them… But sometimes those kinds of fairytales tend to leave an impact on girls. And the concept of Future Trunks was quite a fairytale to her.
Pan had seen photos of Future Trunks, and - gods he was SO gorgeous! (But she'd never admit it to Current-Trunks). He really had the most unusual, most handsome face, and Pan had an instant crush on his photo ever since she was a little girl.
It was probably due to that crush that Pan's eyes ever thought to wander to her current-timeline Trunks… But then the second she'd lay eyes on Trunks, she'd instantly remember how dramatically different they were. It wasn't necessarily through just their bodies - though Future Trunks did have the better body… No, the difference was in their eyes.
Future Trunks's eyes were humble, and hardened; Current-timeline Trunks' eyes were haughty and entitled…
… Thus how Pan and her Mama Videl came up with the moniker that they called Trunks behind his back - Bullhead.
Bullhead Brief's egoist eyes looked very similar to his dad Vegeta's eyes. However, despite how much their eyes looked alike, that's about as far as their similarities went.
Vegeta was a rockstar. Vegeta was the coolest good-bad guy that Pan ever knew. And Vegeta embodied the strength of pride and confidence.
Vegeta didn't give two licks about anybody's opinions of himself. He did his thing and he was good at it, and everyone respected him for it.
From an early age, Pan wanted to be around that. She gravitated to his energy because she was so tired of people telling her what she could do versus what she couldn't do.
Vegeta often talked down to her and in their early days, used to called her a "Pipsqueak", which pissed her the fudge off, but also invigorated her. He liked getting a rise out of her, and she liked when he tried to get a rise out of her, because he was such an asshole, that his words worked every single time.
Vegeta was the guy that she loved to hate. He fired her up and strengthened her resolve. And he was the only person to do that. Nobody else took her seriously. Not that Vegeta did either, but at least he respected her. And it was when she trained in the gravity room that she felt seen … at least for a little bit. But even with Vegeta's judgmental eyes, at least he was acknowledging her strength. And he never kicked her out.
Vegeta was the reason why Pan still tried so hard to become Super Saiyan. She wanted to impress somebody. Her Papa never encouraged her to fight, saying she needed to focus on her studies. And her Mama enjoyed babying her and driving her to places, reminding her how she was a "little girl," and discouraged Pan from flying even though it was her only sense of freedom. She found no support from her Grandma Chi Chi, who backed up her Papa by saying Pan needed to study, even though Pan hated school.
Nobody listened! Except Vegeta listened… when Pan would scream about all of it in the gravity room. Well, maybe he didn't actually listen, but at least he made himself available to Pan for her to vent to. That was enough for her - she just needed someone to talk to.
She was tired of nobody understanding her.
Her family kept overlooking her own needs because they kept comparing her to Uncle Goten. They kept saying that if she didn't go to school, she'd end up directionless and without options, just like Goten. And that brought Pan's thoughts to the first of her two least favorite people:
Bonehead.
Uncle Goten, representing the strength of nothing, was born in August of Age 769. He was a surprise summer child, apparently conceived during a time when her Grandpa was Super Saiyan the entire time. It was often joked about - that he should have been the next generation's strongest warrior. After all, he turned Super Saiyan at a super-young age, at only seven years old. He also was born with the same hair cowlick as her Grandpa Goku, and with the same energy level, so everyone thought he'd be the next Goku… but that's about where the similarity with Grandpa ended.
When Pan was born in May of Age 780, her Uncle Goten was still eleven years old, about to turn twelve.
Growing up, Bullhead and Bonehead - the monikers Pan secretly shared with her Mama Videl - were two peas in a pod. When one got in trouble, the other was definitely involved. There was no question about it. They were both involved. They were like super-charged magnets - they stuck to each other, and then they dragged everyone else in.
Grandma Chi Chi called them "Wild Ones" behind their backs, because, well, Trunks brought out Goten's "wild side."
Uncle Goten was always known to sneak out of the house growing up, but it got really bad once he became a pre-teen. He became what Grandma called "obstinate" which meant that he did not listen to advice, and he kept doing stuff that he liked to do, despite everyone knowing that his actions were just plain stupid.
Grandma Chi Chi was obstinate too - she never listened to anyone's objections when she would make everyone in the family study. Pan heard about how her Papa and Mama "dated" for years as "study buddies," because doing homework together was the only way that Grandma Chi Chi approved of her Papa dating before graduation. However, despite how her Papa had set a good example, Grandma said she felt she "was pulling teeth" to get Uncle Goten to actually sit down and study with any of the girls he dated.
However, despite how often he'd sneak out, Uncle Goten somehow kept up very good grades, which is why Grandma Chi Chi never fully put her foot down about his regular outings. Somehow, despite the fact that he never studied, they figured he might be a savant. Everyone thought that maybe Uncle Goten was secretly a genius, and he was simply trying to discover his path in life.
Her Papa confessed to Pan that looking back, he had high suspicions that Uncle Goten had access to homework and test answers from the year before. But, nobody came out to directly ask Goten if he was cheating.
No one ever discussed how everyone always found his high GPA to be suspicious. To even think it would be a major offense to the whole family.
To even mention it would test Goten's loyalty to her family values …
… And if it did turn out that he was actually cheating, it would bring shame to the whole family.
So when he got caught cheating in college, and was forced to drop out of school, that was the last straw for Grandma Chi Chi and Papa Gohan.
Pan never grew up with a house that yelled. Although Grandma Chi Chi always had a short temper, her outbursts were short and pointed, and they generally focused on what people did versus who people were.
And that night, in late April of Age 788, right after the May that Pan turned eight years old, the yelling started in the house. And the yelling got really bad. So bad, actually, that Papa and Mama and Pan had to move out, and they got a different house just outside of Satan City, about a 35 minute drive to West City, and a 4.5 hour carplane ride / 20 minute fast-flight from Grandma's house.
Up until that point, her Mama and Papa lived in the same house as Uncle Goten and Grandma Chi Chi. They both supported the family with their jobs after college. It helped that Mama had access to the family trust fund; she was was given a monthly payout which was more than enough to cover the family expenses. What Papa made on top of that went into the family savings. With just the two of them alone, the whole family was covered, so they never had any financial worries.
The biggest worry was always about Uncle Goten. He never needed to get a job because he had a monthly allowance, as given from her Papa. And he never did anything productive or constructive - he just played games on his phone, or went out on dates, or did whatever Goten wanted to do. He never had to grow up. And so nowadays, he was just one big man-baby. And he didn't actually know how to do anything because he never actually learned anything in school. He had cheated the entire time.
Pan had little respect for her Uncle Goten, but where he drew the line with her was that he was used as the model for what Pan should not become.
And then her Papa started doubling-down on Pan's schoolwork, so at age eight, she was forced to stay in and study all the time during the week and never go out. All her parents ever talked about was school. And Pan never liked school. Pan thought school was a total waste of time, because she wanted to do something physical with her life. And Uncle Goten ruined her chances of talking sense into her Papa, to let her just figure out her own path instead of being channeled through a stupid school system.
Pan just wanted to punch stuff. Or knock stuff. Or kick stuff. Or whatever she needed to do to prove her strength. She wanted to be a fighter! She wanted to be in the tournament rings, and blast all her opponents away. She wanted to prove that a woman could be just as strong as a man , even if strength came from different means.
She wanted to be the woman who demonstrated the strength to take all the men down.
That was her dogma. That was her will.
She didn't want to do high school. She didn't want to do entrance exams for university. She did not want to be a scholar.
But Uncle Goten, stupid Bonehead Goten, came in the way of her dreams. And so when Bonehead Goten got a chance to go to space on the "Grand Tour" with Grandpa Goku, and go visit places just like Namek and other cool experiences like that - he did not deserve it.
This opportunity only came once in a lifetime. Her Papa got a chance to do it, and it was her right! Her legacy to be able to go to space! And her Papa and Mama were wrong to try to hold her back. They went all this time putting Uncle Goten down because he lacked direction, when all they did was disregard Pan's own direction!
Pan knew what she wanted to do. She wanted to save the world.
Because then at least Vegeta might look at her and acknowledge that even though she didn't have a tail and therefore couldn't go Super Saiyan … that she could at least show strength of willpower. She wanted Vegeta to look at her and acknowledge that she was a true Saiyan , and to believe in her fists and power. He was the only person who valued her fists and power.
Except Grandpa Goku. He valued her fists and power.
Pan never knew Grandpa Goku much growing up, but she knew that this trip, to get to know him, was important to her. He made her feel seen. He made her feel appreciated. And he never EVER, EVER, EVER ONCE said that Pan needed to go school.
Because he knew, just like Pan, that school was stupid. School was totally unnecessary for a fighter. The only school she wanted was training to be a better fighter.
Pan wanted to be a better fighter than Vegeta. Greater than even Grandpa Goku. She wanted to be the most legendary fighter in the universe. She knew that it wasn't possible, since she was just a quarter Saiyan without a tail, but her Mama called her "Persistent Pan" for a reason. When Pan wanted something, Pan never gave up…
… Which is why Pan was able to convince her Grandpa Goku to let her stay on the spaceship, even after Trunks went and flipped out all over the place the first week they were in space.
And that brought Pan to think of her least favorite person in the world: Bullhead Briefs.
Pan did not know where to even start when it came to Trunks Briefs. There were good things and there were bad things.
The good thing is that Trunks did represent a form of strength, which was perhaps his most redeemable quality: Trunks represented the strength of family ties.
Trunks was the kid who was always a part of the family functions, but wasn't actually a part of the family. He was present at every single family event that Pan could ever recall growing up. He was in almost every single photograph with Goten, and whenever Goten wandered off, there was a high chance that he was somewhere with Trunks. After all, they were the "Wild Ones."
Trunks was so close to the Son family that it became hard to draw a line between who he really was versus what the rest of the world thought of the concept of Trunks Briefs. He always said it was a "branding" thing, so Pan decided to give his "brands" some names. Each of his two personas had a title: Nerd Glasses vs Bullhead.
Nerd Glasses Trunks was the version of Trunks that the rest of the world perceived.
And everyone in the public all thought ….that Nerdy Trunks Briefs… was, like Future Trunks, hot as hell.
And it irked Pan a lot. But everyone saw Nerd Glasses Trunks as a handsome, forward-thinking leader of industry, and a pioneering executive that was destined to take his company to the next level as a futurist company. He was often spotlighted in the media for his Technical Talks, and was regularly featured in podcasts and industry talk shows, in addition to being a special guest speaker at tech conventions. Trunks had even been a guest on the sketch show, Saturday Night Life, several years ago, which Pan had not seen, but everyone else had - and for months, her family made inside jokes about all the potentials for capsule technology.
On top of it all, he was also the "Most Beautiful Man in the World," according to one of her mom's favorite magazines from last year, which had re-ignited her Papa's strong opinions about Trunks over the coffee table when they reflected on the real, ACTUAL Bullhead Trunks.
Bullhead Trunks was the REAL Trunks. The Trunks that the rest of the world did not see.
Trunks was self-centered, selfish, brutish and childish. He was a typical rich spoiled kid who never had to deal with actual accountability.
Bullhead Trunks had anything he wanted. When it came to his dating life, Trunks always had his arm around the most beautiful, plastic girl in the room, and it was always a new girl each time.
He was a terrible role model for Uncle Goten, who picked up on Trunks' bad habits. And Trunks never studied, yet he got good grades anyway. Her family had strong suspicions that his good grades were related to the same way that Uncle Goten got his grades, but that's about as far as they went with that thought, because everyone knew that in the end it didn't even friggin' matter.
No matter whatever Trunks did, he was always going to inherit Capsule Corporation, the biggest tech company on the entire planet. His career demonstrated a typical display of "nepotism " - defined by power that was given to family members, regardless of qualifications. At least, Pan didn't think he qualified to be the most iconic man in the world. Because even though Pan knew Trunks got all his education and degrees, and knew all the big words, Pan also knew Trunks never actually grew up.
Bullhead Trunks was a bully, and just a young boy stuck in an adult body.
Trunks probably never, ever had to work hard to get a girl in his life. He had it all - his pretty face, his unusual eyes, his stupid hair, his sort-of-okay body, and he had all the gadgets. And he had ALL the money. So Pan could figure that a guy like him would never need to try to get a good girl in his life. And he certainly wouldn't know what it would take to keep a good girl in his life!
Pan read all about guys like Trunks in her Mama's favorite gossip magazines that she kept in the bathroom. Rich, famous men - they had a girlfriend or a wife for two years, and then it always ended up in a cheating scandal, or divorce. Celebrity marriages were notorious for breaking up. But Pan would not stand for that. Pan was going to be stuck with Trunks, because this bonding was for life.
And so she was going to kick Trunks into shape. He had no idea what was coming.
After all his pissy pouting, and all of his mental breakdowns, and all of his outbursts, and all of his brooding and complaining about how Uncle Goten should have been on the trip, it was time for Trunks to finally see Pan. And she was at the end of her rope.
She tolerated his antics up until this point because she thought she'd never have to see him again after the trip, and she just wanted some friggin' harmony. At least Trunks let her spend time with Grandpa.
And at least one redeemable quality about Trunks is that he also liked Giru. It gave Pan hope that Trunks might have an actual beautiful side to him, underneath the whole beast that Trunks Briefs actually was.
She could see why Uncle Goten was so influenced by Trunks. Both Nerd Glasses and Bullhead Trunks were charming. Ohhhh, Trunks could be so suave.
And Trunks knew he was handsome, and he played that up, especially if he was in a good mood. He had so much energy, and with his bright blue eyes and his dashing smile, he was magic and charismatic. He tended to get all dramatic with all kinds of expressive energy when he talked, using his hands to demonstrate points as he spoke. It was the same energy that made him fun to watch at the technical talk conventions.
But he was awful at channeling that energy. Because when he wasn't mansplaining stuff, he was just spiraling and getting all emotional about other stuff.
Pan knew that Trunks must have some kind of internal dialogue in his head. There's no way that he could be able to just sit by himself for hours without having some fairly complex thoughts.
Pan knew he wasn't meditating because Gods, if he were , he'd be so much better to deal with.
Sometimes Pan thought Trunks could learn a lot if he just were a little more like Mr. Piccolo - the Namek who was descended from King Piccolo and also the former Guardian of Earth, who ended up becoming her Papa's friend and mentor years ago.
Mr. Piccolo embodied the strength of patience and wisdom. He was a loner, but he was also a combination of many different Namekian souls, including Kami, the former Guardian of Earth. Even with ages of wisdom, all he did was meditate. Pan heard stories of how he used to be a bad guy, and all the meditation and personal reflection opened his heart to change, and over time, he warmed into becoming a good guy. There was some other storyline in between there, of course, but the principle of it - that meditation helps to clear the mind and soul for personal growth - THAT is what Bullhead Briefs needed to learn and practice.
And if Trunks was not able to meditate and self-reflect, then he had to talk about stuff.
But Trunks never talked about himself.
Pan was going to change that. And Pan knew that with Trunks' bad communication habits, their relationship would never work. Pan needed a man of substance.
Pan wanted to know that Trunks could be a better friend than the Trunks who led Goten down the wrong path.
Pan wanted to know that Trunks would put someone before himself, to prove he could outgrow his selfish, self-centered ways.
Pan wanted to know that Trunks could be more communicative with his needs and wants, and that he could compromise more, in order to achieve outcomes that made everyone happy instead of just him.
Most of all, especially since Pan knew of Trunks' propensity to cheat his way ahead, she wanted proof that Trunks could learn. She wanted to see his own character growth for herself, because all she ever saw was the same little boy inside.
Other than that, everything else was just fluff, without real substance.
She didn't care about his big house or his limousine. She had no interest in going to those tech talks and other stuff he did for his fame and publicity. She didn't want to even understand the big words that Trunks threw at her, because none of them were nice; all he did was act like a self-righteous bully.
And despite how Trunks did not see himself as a bully, what Trunks failed to realize is that it was possible to bully without saying anything. Just his eyes and expression and body language alone were enough to showcase his bullheadedness. The way he rolled his eyes whenever Pan talked, or whenever he made a face at the stale crunch of their sandwich bread whenever Pan made him lunch… it was all those little things that he did that were rude.
But there were some good sides to him, too. The biggest, and most important part - which her Grandpa Goku helped Pan to see earlier in the trip after they had a long talk about this - was that Trunks had a really good heart. Deep down, despite his stubborn personality, Trunks also just wanted to be acknowledged for goodness. Similar to Pan, Trunks wanted to save the world, in his own way.
And Trunks also loved Goten… at least, as a best friend. And it was clear, even after all this time, that Trunks missed Goten - more than Pan even thought to realize. The feelings were so great that Trunks literally was incapacitated for the first week after their launch, and for hours one night, she and her Grandpa had to hear Trunks having a mental breakdown.
Ouuuu... to say the least, Trunks lowered morale. He really was just the worst...
But… Trunks also obviously cared about the team. Despite not informing them of any of his plans, such as faking his own death on M2 (to the heart-attack of Pan), Trunks was considerate of all their safety. And despite the fact that Pan knew that Trunks downright hated her on the ship, he always pulled through to keep her safe.
As time had gone on, Pan was able to piece together a few things about Trunks that she learned on her own throughout the trip. And the latest thing that began to dawn on Pan was Trunks' overbearing need to protect her.
It was also a common word that Trunks came back to in all of their brief conversations. It was the one trigger that he'd always be upset about after every time they got into mischief on the Dragon Ball space journey.
It was always "I couldn't protect you when blah-blah-blah…" or he'd phrase it as a question, "How was I supposed to be able to protect you when blah-blah-blah?…"
She hated the idea that any man would need to protect her.
Just because she was a female did not mean that she needed protection. She viewed any guy who thought that way as a male "chauvinist" - a man who held bias against women's capabilities.
What she loved about her Grandpa Goku is that he only stepped in when he felt that he was needed. He gave Pan her space to fight. He gave Pan her space to grow. He respected her chosen path in life, proven by how he let her stay on the ship after she had pressed the auto-launch button that brought them into space.
Pan had proven to Grandpa Goku that she did have a direction for herself. She did deserve this time on the ship, because this was her dream - to EXPLORE and GROW from cultures and camaraderie; to see alien planets just like her Papa when he traveled to Namek.
This was going to be trip that would help Pan save the world, and believe in herself. She wanted to take her learnings from this trip and apply them to her own character growth in preparation for opening up her own Dojo one day, to market her Gramps' fame, and to teach with her fists - because all she wanted to do was work in a career where she could display her brawn instead of rely on stupid old brains.
And that's how they got to where they all were today. She, and Grandpa, and Bullhead, all on a ship trying to survive each other in addition to space.
And now they were on moon that said there was a prophecy that demanded she marry - and then Trunks Briefs got down on one knee to propose.
The Kais had a funny way to pair her with the one guy she'd have to step up her game for. Trunks needed to start acknowledging her ASAP. She was at her wits' end with him.
It was time for Trunks Briefs to shape up as a man worthy of her heart, and grow up to be a man worthy of her time.
And Pan was going to break through to him. Because she was Persistent Pan, about to marry Bullhead Briefs.
She was armed with her orange bandana, the gi scrap that belonged to her Grandpa when he first died fighting her Great Uncle Raditz. To her, it symbolized overcoming odds, and distracted from the true strength she was about to display.
She was ready to take on Bullhead Trunks in their bullfight ahead.
The mental image made her smile, she was finally able to drift off to sleep.
