Tom ran into the bar and saw sonic and Lily in disguises
"Howdy, partner!" Sonic said
"I'm not your partner. Come on. We're leaving." Tom said
"But there's a ZZ Top cover band. You gotta see their beards." Sonic said
"We'll have to catch 'em some other time. Let's go! Get up!" Tom said
Lily swapped with the phantom then snapped her fingers teleporting them into the truck
"thank you Lily." Tom said
"Lily why did you do that?" Sonic asked
the phantom ruby looked at him
"because I'm a prick." The phantom ruby said before switching back
"why aren't we in the bar?" Lily asked
Tom sighed
"let's just get a place to sleep." Tom said
later
they arrived at the hotel room and began to relax
"So, what are we gonna do now?" Sonic asked
"I'm gonna pass out watching TV. I think you should too." Tom said
" But this is my last night on Earth! I want to soak up every last second!" Sonic said
"it doesn't have to be." Lily said "my brother could probably get you off of the government's radar."
"what is your brother anyway?" Sonic asked
"a robot that kinda looks like you." Lily said
"that's weird..." sonic said "but he probably won't be able to do anything."
after a moment tom decided to continue the conversation
"Hey, so, what's this next planet you're supposed to go to like?" Tom asked sonic
" It's no Earth, I can tell you that. There's no people, just breathable air and giant mushrooms and stuff." Sonic said
"Well, look at it this way; at least you won't be the only "fun-guy." Tom joked
Lily let out a wheeze
"No. Don't ever do that again." Sonic said
"I liked it." Tom said
"All right. We should get some sleep." Tom said
"You sleep. Don't worry about me. I'm gonna stay up all night enjoying Earth while I can!" Sonic said
Lily then touched his forehead as the phantom ruby took control
"sleep." The phantom ruby said
Tom turned on the news
"Thomas Wachowski, accused of committing an act of domestic terrorism. Wachowski is considered armed and dangerous. Any information regarding his whereabouts should be reported to local authorities immediately." The newsreporter said
"bastards." The phantom ruby said before knocking out Lily's body
the next day
the group was on the road again
"so sonic what's on your bucket list?" Lily asked
"what's a bucket list?" Sonic asked
"A bucket list is, uh, it's a list of things you want to do in your life before you, well, kick the bucket." Tom said
"I never kicked a bucket before!" Sonic says "it sucks I won't be able to do anything before I leave earth."
"like i said my brother could probably make the government forget about you." Lily said
sonic turned to Tom
"So, what's on your bucket list?" Sonic asked
"who me?" Tom asked
"Yeah. Everyone has a bucket list, right?" Sonic asked
"well I'm not planning on dying soon." Tom said
"Don't be so sure. Your best friend is a magnet for danger." Sonic said
"Oh, are you anointing yourself as the bestie?" Tom asked
"Mm-hmm." Sonic hummed
" A little presumptuous, but-- I mean-- What? No-- I-I like you, of course, but, you know, we're not best friends." Tom said
"Fine, fine, fine. Best animal friend." Sonic said
"That would be my dog, Ozzie." Tom said
"Okay. Let's drop this increasingly humiliating topic of conversation. Bucket list. Give it to me!" Sonic said
"Okay, there is one thing. In Green Hills, I've always felt, I don't know, more like a babysitter than a real cop, you know? So I want a chance to prove myself, under real pressure. I'm gonna move to San Francisco, become a street cop. And, I don't know, see if I have what it takes." Tom explained
he turned to sonic and his jaw was dropped
"What? Why-why is your face doing that?" Tom asked
"You're leaving Green Hills?!" Sonic asked
"yes he just said that." Lily said
"B-B-But why? Why would you leave Green Hills?" Sonic asked
"This may be hard for you to understand, but Green Hills is a small town. It's a very small town." Tom said
"Uh, it's not small! There are hundreds of people." Sonic said
"that's small." Lily said
"she's right." Tom said
"It's a perfect town, and the people need you." Sonic said
"lease, I clean out their gutters, I jump-start their cars in the winter. They could call anybody to do that." Tom said
"Sure, they can call anybody, but they don't. They call you." Sonic said
"uhhh guys death machine behind us." Lily said noticing a menacing black truck behind them
they turned and saw the truck following them
suddenly a harpoon shot out and nailed Lily in the head
"OH MY GOD!" Sonic and Tom yelled
lily regenerated quickly
"what?" Lily asked as Tom and sonic caught their breaths
"uh what are we going to do about the giant harpoon in the truck?" Tom asked
suddenly Lily put her hand on sonic's head and he got an overload of energy
"go nuts." Lily said
sonic jumped out the truck and did a spin dash knocking the truck onto its side
tom did a quick u turn
"Sonic! Are you okay?" Tom asked
sonic emerged from the rubble completely unharmed
"Guess I had a bonus life. " sonic said before noticing the flipped truck "oh yeah! Sonic, one. Big tank, zero. I'm sorry. Did we get that on camera?"
"how are you not dead?" Tom asked
" I have no idea! Do you see me dancing?" Sonic asked
"yes we saw you dancing." Tom said
"is the the best you got?" Sonic asked
suddenly the truck began to whirl
"get back in the truck!" Tom said
"go I'll catch up!" Sonic said as Tom began to drive
sonic got back in the truck quickly
the truck deployed a small tank
"I think that tank just had a baby" sonic said
suddenly the tank shot out a disk which Tom swiftly dodged
the disk hit another car causing it to power off
"ok so let's not get hit by those." Tom said
the robot fired another disk
"get out of here." The phantom ruby said as it took control
a portal opened up under the disk and teleported it in front of the tank causing it to crash
meanwhile doctor robotnik was watching this with intrigue
"yes we did!" Sonic said
suddenly a single wheeled robot jumped out where the last crashed
"We did not do it. Who is this guy?" Sonic asked
Lily gained back control before rolling down her window
"BOP!" Lily said as she punched the robot causing it to break
"yes! Let's go!" Tom said
suddenly a tiny drone robot flew up next to the truck
"Aww, this one is cute. Let's keep him." Sonic said
the drone began to slice through the car
"Oh, come on!" Tom said
" How could something so adorable be so terrible!?" Sonic questioned
suddenly the roof got blown off
"You've got car insurance, right?" Sonic asked
sonic then grabbed the drone
"buzz off." Sonic said tearing off it's propellers
however, the main body stuck to him and began to beep
"that doesn't sound good." Sonic said
"No, beeping is bad! Get rid of it!" Tom said
sonic tried to shake it off but it wouldn't budge
"I can't get it off!" Sonic said
"Throw it out the win-- throw it anywhere!" Tom said
"it won't budge!" Sonic said before turning to Lily "can't you teleport it away."
"i can't if you want to keep your hands." Lily said
"that's it I'm pulling over!" Tom said
he pulled over and sonic began to try different ways of taking it off
eventually sonic gets It off of him with a stick
"Nailed it!" Sonic said
*KABOOOM*
the drone exploded send sonic flying forward
"sonic!" Tom and Lily yelled
Tom picked up sonic and felt a pulse
" Hey, come on. You're all right. Wake up. Wake up." Tom said
"we need to take him somewhere!" Lily said
"I think I know just the place." Tom said
