If you've seen the title of this chapter you know who i'm introducing to this universe. This is my spin on the anti hero known as red-x. This will be part 1 of the you enjoy! Work belongs to greg wiseman and Brandon Vietti.
Chapter 25:Red X Part 1
October 12th 3:49pm gotham city
It was a cold and dark night in the city of gotham like usually right now but for some it was a glorious night. As soon it would be time for the elections of the new mayor of gotham as right now someone was wandering about that being hamilton hill the possible new candidate for gotham election campaign
With him wandering around right now on the streets of gotham with his poll and bodyguards right now. As he was speaking with none other than police chief commissioner gordon himself as he was a supporter of him being the new city mayor
"Can't believe you gotta run for office again hamilton….ehhh this city does have its problems but your one of the good ones"gordon said
"Nonsense jim. Besides i rather it be me than dents twin sister shes a real cook if i recall"hamilton replied as the police chief sighed
"She might be but still we gotta be careful never know what trouble might be coming up in gotham"gordon said with worry to advise his friend making the man laugh at that right now.
"Come now jim we may live in a place riddle with crime but what next. Someone with some dumb gimmic coming after me"he joked but he should't have
Suddenly from above a whirring noise was heard before something landed infront of the man face. As looking to his side he saw something buried in the concrete close by that being a red x like dagger as gordon drew his firearm at the source with his men pointing it at the source
As on a nearby rooftop was someone as it seemed to be someone who was a teenager none the less. Along with that that wearing a fullbodysuit that had boots from its appearance. Though one thing was apparent that being he had grey gaunlents alongside a grey utility belt. But on his face was a skull like mask with him sporting a long dark grey cape as well. Though on his chest was a large red x along with being on his hands and his forehead.
The figure laughed right now stepping up dusting his hands off bowing to the officier
"Well sorry officers guess i made quite a ruckus at your little walk with your potential dead cleint"the figure said with the mayor hiding behind gordon for protection
"Who is that jim!"he shouted but before he could respond the figure leaped down
As the officer opened fire the figure swiftly pulled something out of his belt. That being two red x like devices before throwing them forward. Once he did they made impact as suddenly the two cops struggled being encased in a web like substance knocking them to the ground
The commissioner aimed at him but the figure kicked the pistol out of his hands laughing before kicking him back making the commissioner fall to the ground
"Should have been quicker old man"the figure said but then suddenly he felt a presnance as he jumped back narrowly dodging a batarang as he looked up seeing the dark knight narrowing his gaze toward the figure
As the dark knight flew down onto the ground the figure backed up putting his hands up staring him down
"Funny enough to run into you bat freak….but red x doesn't go down too easy….see yah"Red x said before throwing down a smoke pellet covering the area with batman not even making a move. As it cleared the commissioner approached his ally
"Why didn;t you stop him?"jim questioned as batman approached the smoke where red X was pulling up something that being a bird feather that of a robin as he narrowed his gaze
"Seems my ward might need to deal with this himself personally"batman said as it seemed a new villain is out for robin in gotham city.
Mount justice october 13th 9:58am
It was a brand new morning for the team right now with all of them enjoying some time off. Along with that the return of the old denmother. With the team actually missing the old bot as red tornad was here along with being very busy right now. Mainly being him trying to fix his old siblings it seems
The league tried to argue against it though surprisingly enough someone came to the bot side. That being batman as the dark knight suggested taking them in along with replicating red tornado programming into theirs. To adapt them and make them the heroes they were meant to be which the league relented
Though right now robin and jinny where squaring off with each other right now. As the team watched the two with robin swinging his leg forward. Though jinny blocked it with her upper arm to redirect the strike back toward the boy wonder. But robin saw it coming before lifting his legs up delivering a swift flurry of high kicks against her
This made the cowgirl back up just a little as she growled seeing him getting in an offensive and defensive stance. She came at him in full force as the two kep sparing as watching this was the others with greg even their.
But the cowboy themed hero was in a chair still in a boot to get some pressure off his injury
"Now darling watch out for the runt! Hes quick and sneaky just like bats!"greg called out as jinny tried to hit robin who expertly dodged her attack and kicked her in the knee making her wince slightly from that hit
As wally flinched eating some chips"man thats gonna hurt in the morning"he stated
"She;ll be fine. Unlike the rest of us she has a healing factor from what i recall"artemis replied as they found some new things out about her that she got a nifty little healing factor for her half immortality
"Right you mean shes pretty much gonna remain young forever…lucky i might get grey hair"Deliah replied jokingly making m'gann laugh a little as conner crossed his arms seeing robin take punch jinny in the side making him growl at that
As jinny stumbled for a moment before robin ran forward dropkicking her out of the ring as the light went red
"Hex. status FAIL"in big red letters to make her groan as robin walked over laughing as he helped her up
"Maybe stick to your guns instead of fighting close range"Robin joked as she scoffed
"Alright runt…your lucky the big bad batman trained you personally"jinny spat back as the young hero looked away for a moment as also watching their training was dinah sighed stepping forward
"Its hard to adapt to certain moves for the opponent your facing. But you both did good i think you've earned a break for today"dinah stated
"Good because we will need it for the coming time"kaldur said but suddenly the zeta tube came online
"Recognize 02 batman, recognize 08 green arrow. Recognize….09 red arrow"The computer said but that caught three members eyes right now. As they all stared at the tube right now with batman and green arrow stepping through with someone else right now
That being a teen with auburn hair with blue eyes having a tall satire to him around aqualads height. But he had a toned upper body with him not even smiling it seems. He had a suit that was predominantly black with a red chest and collar. While he sported a quiver on his back with two gray shoulder straps connected across the chest. With black gloves that are fingerless as well.
But their was a moment of silence for a bit before wally sped over wrapping an arm around him with the widest grin
"Speedy! Its so nice to see you again man"wally cheered as the archer colored red stared him down
"Its red arrow now kid flash but it is nice to see you"red arrow stated as other approached with kaldur offering a hand to his friend who shook it
"It goes both way my friend. It has been some time since we last saw each other"kaldur said
Dick walked over laughing"You mean how he helped us out on that mission with the league of assassins. Been too long since then"he added as others were confused but some where surprised to see this face again
"Well lookie here its the guy i replaced"artemis said aloud with red arrow eyeing her down as deliah and jinny shared some very confused looks right now.
"Ummm are you lost or is this guy a friend of theirs"deliah whispered
"No clue but if i recall hes the old partner of green arrow went by speedy before. Heard hes gone by red arrow now"jinny whispered making the heroine realize who he was the old sidekick of green arrow as the team surrounded him as the archer eyed down the new faces here
But green arrow sighed"you've noticed them mind introducing yourselves to my old partner"he asked as jinny spat the side offering a hand as he stared at it
"Names jinny hex the great great granddaughter of jonah hex the best gunslinger in all of the west"jinny boasted as the archer scoffed crossing his arms
"An old gunslinger ancestor seems you've added some strange members while i last saw you all"red arrow said but it sounded rude to jinny who narrowed her gaze at him as deliah nervously stepped forward
"Hi i'm deliah nikos…its uh nice to meet you….uhhh i'm wraith"deliah said offering a shaky hand to the archer. But the archer stared her down for a long moment eyeing her hair and recalled that name but didn't shake her hand either which felt quite rude to her.
"Okay your rude"She thought as batman cleared his throat getting their attention right now
"If you dont mind were here with red arrow for a new mission. Because last night something happened"batman said typing away on the computer before pulling something up catching their eyes. That being the street camera footage of last nights attack which caught some eyes
As m'gann watched red x expertly take down the cops right now with much ease as the dark knight explained
"Last night mayor hill was taking a small tour through gotham for the upcoming mayoral election. His running mate is one jessica dent the sister of one harvey dent"batman said as it displayed a image of the mayors. With jessica dent being a fiar skin women with blonde hair tied into a bun seeming in her late thrites. But she also had dark maroon eyes with her having a modest bust size wearing a full tan suit with black flared dress pants on along with white high heels.
As deliah frowned right now which artemis noticed chuckling
"Let me guess becky dent"she whispered as she nodded to her with the dark knight eyeing them down making them go silent
"If your talking about your relations with her daughter i already know. But last night we were attacked by him"batman said displaying the image of the man with red-x all over him as he was about to say the name but robin beat his mentor to it
"Red-x! Hes back in town…i thought he was gone after that explosion a year ago!"robin shouted which caught some attention right now
"Uhhh you know him or something?"jinny jokingly asked as red arrow scoffed stepping forwards
"Hes a well known thief around the streets of gotham, star city, coast city and meotrplois including jump city. "Red arrow explained with green arrow sighing
"Yep because someone left bats here a little calling card for someone on our little team"green arrow said as the dark knight produced what was left that being a robin feather which confused them but wally and kaldur shared a look for a moment
"A feather? Thats what you want us to investigate?"conner asked irritated but wally took it staring at it
"Dude hes calling you out this time"wally stated to others shock that they know about the thief
"You have a past with this thief or something birdboy?"Artemis asked with robin going quiet right now staring at the ground with him scoffing
"You can say that about a couple years ago me and bats here investigated a lead on a serial thief going around everywhere. Last stop was gotham so we tracked him down but…."he paused as his mentor eyed him down
"My ward went off on his own to prove himself resulting in the thief to break one of his arms to escape. But then him alongside the other members here sidekicks went after him. They failed in the capture but around a year ago he was cornered in an old factory in jump city. But…an explosion went off"batman said with wally looking away as kaldur crossed his arms alongside red arrow as green arrow sighed
"Bats me, aquaman and flash where fine with it since my old partner asked me if he could help his old buddy"green arrow said
"I only did because he needed help. But this time hes back from the dead it seems and hes targeting the mayor of gotham"red arrow said with them understanding the mission now
"Protect the mayor and capture the thief that our new mission?"conner questioned with the dark knight nodding gently
"You are to leave now for gotham city you'll need help so red arrow will be joining you on this operation"batman stated as they all began to get prepared but the man eyed down his own ward with green arrow staring at him
"Bats he'll be fine"green arrow said with the dark knight keeping a stoic look on his face the entire time right now.
Gotham city october 13th 2:37pm
It wasn't a long flight for the group right now as they where now in gotham city. As they where now flying around in the bioship overlooking the area. But the entire time in the ship red arrow was shooting the other new members down with a look which jinny noticed as she was close to conner as she scoffed
"Hey conner…this guy always like this?"she asked as he growled at that question
"Hes apparently an old friend of robin, kaldur and wally….the old sidekick of green arrow"conner said as close by was artemis who rolled her eyes
"Yeah him. Uncle told me how he was a great guy but lately hes had a large attitude problem"Artemis whispered to them with jinny eyeing the archer down cupping her chin for a moment
"Maybe he'll be nice if we show him we can handle this little thief. I mean its just one little thief how bad can he be?"jinny said aloud but not realizing someone was eavesdropping
"That thief is very skilled and dangerous. Don't underestimate him"robin warned to their surprise he evasdropped on them but some where used to it as wally sighed
"Come on man relax we'll get him this time. Besides…we have a bigger group so we can cover more ground"wally reassured but the young hero narrowed his gaze under his mask on focusing on this villain right now.
As they soon landed on a nearby rooftop they made their way down to street level. Once they where down on streetlevel they where near none other than the gotham city police department. A site to behold as waiting for them on the ground was jim gordon with the mayor running for gotham right now.
"Ah i see that batman has sent…you all to handle this little issue we had"jim said
"Are…are you serious? He sends sidekicks! Where is the league we need the league for this threat he tried to kill me!"hamilton shouted in fear as aqualad put a hand up to quell his nerves
"Calm yourself. We were sent here to investigate the attacks and with our numbers we can catch him offguard. Now please tell us what happened exactly"aqualad said as the mayor sighed with the nearby police guarding the possible new mayor of gotham right now.
"All i know is we were walking around on the street doing a small meet and greet. But then that man came out of nowhere attacking us. He took out my guards and just ran off when the batman arrived'he explained making robin scoff slightly at that with kid flash tapping his foot
"Any clue where he might be this time?"kid flash questioned
"No clue but….be careful kids this thug aint someone you mess with"jim said but suddenly something happened. As from above something got stuck onto wally back that being a red x like device. Before suddenly it uncoiled wrapping around himself right now to their complete surprise
Glancing up red arrow narrowed his gaze seeing ontop of a nearby rooftop was red-x who leaned against a nearby chimney with a smug look under his mask laughing as he clapped his hands seeing them
"Well well lookie here i see that my old buddies from back in the day are here. "Red-x said making them all get on the offensive right now as artemis rushed over to kid flash side trying to tear the binding off as she grunted
"Its stuck what the plan dear leader?"artemis asked kaldur but robin spoke up drawing out a birdirang
"We go after him!"robin ordered running ahead as he fired off a grappling hook zipping up to the rooftop where red-x was. But the thief turned tail running away as kaldur growled before using his water magic to propel himself up to the rooftops right now
With m'gann flying up leviating jinny and red arrow to the rooftops to pursue. With deliah staying behind to help out artemis to remove the restraints on wally right now. As conner roared using his might to jump after the thief with the police chief watching the sight right now scoffing
"Well this seems like a great start to the night"jim said as he wondered how things will end for the teens
As with the teens right now red-x was vaulting and running over ever obstacle in his way. As he ran toward a billboard before taking a running start. Then he effortlessly leaped forward wall running against the wall to the other side. Right behind him where the others as jinny looked surprised
"Man this guy got some moves"she stated as robin scoffed
"Focus on catching him! He needs to be stopped before he hurts someone else!"he shouted running ahead repeating the same motion as the thief to get across. As jinny took a different approach by switching to a easier rooftop to match the speed of the two
As red arrow ran forward notching a arrow back before firing it forward as a wire came out of the arrowhead. With it embedding into a nearby building as he leaped off the edge. Then using the momentum he swung himself forward to the next rooftop as he saw how close he was to the thief right now.
Swiftly he kept jumping and jumping notching an arrow back before firing an arrow toward the theig. As red-x glanced out of the corner of his eyes swiftly he dodged the arrows coming at him like he saw them coming. Though as another came he caught it mid air before laughing as he ran
"Nice try but i know what this is"red-x stated before reeling his arm back as the arrow was blinking. Then he tossed it forward as it went straight for the martian as she tried to shield it. But as it made contact it denated
M'gann cried in pain falling onto a nearby rooftop groaning right now as she coughed and hacked. With her staring over at jinny who tried to go back but leaping up to the rooftop was conner who noticed it
"I got her go after him!"he shouted as she nodded running ahead
With the young bird he was clocked in on chasing down the thief as kaldur finally managed to catch up to him. Once he did he fired off a few streams of water as the tattoo glowed on his arms. As one beam nicked the thief making him stumble as red-x tumbled onto a open rooftop right now
But what was happening was a party right now with the gothamite looking surprised as landing down was robin who took out his staff at the ready. With red arrow hoping down alongside jinny and kaldur. The four stared down the thief as red arrow notched an arrow back
"Well lookie here we meet again…thought you were dead"red arrow stated as the thief laughed at that
"Dead? Kid i aint gonna be dead for a long time besides…i got a scar to remember what happened that day"red-x replied as robin growled staring at him drawing out some birdirangs at the ready
"This time your not gonna get away from us!"robin shouted running in as he threw several birdirangs at the thief
But red-x dodged them before deflecting one back with his gaunlents though robin came in swinging with his staff. He kept swinging it several times as he tried to knock him down. But the thief backflipped dodging it as he kicked the young hero back making him grunt
Kaldur summoned two watermaces as he swung them in tandem toward the thief. With him almost hitting him but he was much faster than him. Slamming his palms together he formed a red x on his hand before flicking his wrist
As he launched a red-x like object toward the atlatian as it denated. It sent kaldur flying into a wall narrowly hitting the civlians who screamed as he eyed them before staring at red arrow firing some arrows at the theif who dodged them or caught them mid air throwing them out of the way
"Red arrow! Assist me in protecting the civlians!"he ordered as the archer scoffed
"When did you start giving me orders?"red arow spat back
"Just follow them roy"kaldur said as the archer sighed running over to evacuate the civllains. As robin came in swinging his staff again toward the thief but this time red-x drew out one of his bomb tags from his palm. With him flicking his wrist ready to throw it at him
But this time robin hit his wrist hard making it change its direction. As the bomb tag went straight into a grill on the roofotp. As it made impacted blowing up sending flames around the area making the nearby civllians scream for their lives as kaldur eyed them
Thinking quickly he summoned water to put the flames out but that didn't stop the blowback from the explosion. As it sent a couple off the rooftop edge right now as jinny was about to act but someone else did
That being red-x who leaped forward as effortless he caught one before they went off. As the second was hanging on the edge as the thief reached a hand out but robin came at him swinging his starr glaring at him
"You aren't taking them like you did with that girl thief"robin warned swinging at him again
"I'm trying to help them kid! Calm down before you–"red-x was cut off with robin attacking him but jinny came in pulling the civllains in danger up to the rooftop from danger right now. As she glared toward the bird themed hero as red-x dodged another attack from robin before sighing as he pulled out some pellets
"Sorry kiddio…i'm gone this is goodbye"red-x said before throwing down some smoke pellets on the ground as the area got covered in smoke. As it covered their vision as it slowly disappeared to reveal the smoke to be gone but also the thief as robin growled throwing his staff onto the ground as it bounced a little
"He got away!"robin shouted as coming in was kid flash with artemis and wraith but kaldur noticed him here with the others
"I thought you'd be guarding the mayor?"kaldur questioned as the speedster sighed
"I was but…well…uhhhh guys in suits came after us with me down…and uhh well….lets just say we lost the mayor"kid flash said making their situation worse right now with robin enraged on what just happened but jinny just eyed him down wondering what this crazed obsession was with the thief right now.
It seems robin has a bit of a grudge with this mysterious theif. But what will happen in the next chapter? Before you all start saying oh will he be a villain...maybe who knows till next chapter!
