Chapter 26:Red-x part 2
It was a little after the team had been given the terrible news of the mayor being taken right now. As they where regrouping on the police station near the famous bat signal with jim gordon rubbing his nose that looked a little broken right now as he sighed with robin sitting on the edge staring at the street below
"So it seems we lost the mayor to some thugs right now. "The commissioner said as wraith sighed
"You mean two face thugs? The same guys who are the members of harvey dent gang"wraith replied as aqualad sighed figuring out what was going on already
"It seems that two face is involved. My guess is his sister asked him to help with her competition to be dealt with."aqualad stated as red arrow nodded
"Seems obvious but still we need to be prepared. Because convenient how quickly those thugs took the mayor"red arrow said eyeing the two female hero as artemis eyes widden
"You think we just let him get taken?"artemis questioned in anger as he growled back
"Kinda weird how he got taken just like that besides aqualad told me about your little problem"red arrow said meaning the mole issue as the fellow archer looked away hoping he doesn't know about her past right now as jinny stepped forward
"Your giving her a hard time? Tell your dam friend over their that he messed up back their"jinny said confusing some as she pointed toward the young ward of batman as the commissioner was confused
"I'll leave you kids to work out your issues i'll inform my men to watch out for two face and his thugs"jim said leaving them as robin glared back at the cowgirl for what she just said
"Oh really? Tell me how i messed up exactly?"robin questioned as she pointed it out
"You went after that dumb theif instead of saving someone! They almost fell off the rooftop!"jinny shouted to some surprise to the other right now
"Dude are you serious?"kid flash asked with his friend looking away as jinny scoffed
"Lookie here the runt whos under batman charge has issues what a surprise"jinny said jokingly as the young hero stared at her before walking over jabbing her in the chest
"Lets not forget that your father is some supervillain who almost destroyed the world. Along with that your mentor got a broken leg because of you."robin said making jinny freeze hearing that right now with aqualad placing a hand on his friend shoulder staring at him as he stared back
"Take a walk my friend…calm yourself"kaldur said as robin scoffed walking away with m'gann reached out to console her friend for that.
"Low for him to even say that right now"Conner said but aqualad hung his head for a moment sighing
"Believe me he doesn't have the right to say that but he has some issues with this thief"aqualad said confusing them right now as artemis rolled her eyes
"He called her out for having a supervillian dad who has tried to kill her. Besides her mentor saved her live…whats even up with him right now?"Artemis questioned as the three heroes that where friends with him shared a look as red arrow sighed
"Robin has his own grudge against that thief for a good reason right now"red arrow stated as the others figured that out
"Kinda of obvious but why is he so determined to hunt down the guy?"wraith asked rubbing her arm as the three shared looks as they began to explain to them what was the problems troubling the dear hero
Two years ago jump city october 13th 6:48pm
It was a dark night in jump city a city known to have the occionassly criminal or supervillian attack right now. But right now on a nearby rooftop was someone right now that being a younger kid flash, aqualad and robin along with a younger red arrow who went by speedy back then but had yellow gloves on and an archer hat colored yellow for his old attire
As right now the four young heroes where scoping out a old factory right now with the younger robin having a determined look with kaldur looking at him
"Dick my friend we need to be careful. The league sanctions this small effort but-"he was stopped
"Kaldur i'd like for you to be quiet. Because that thief we tracked is here…and he needs to be brought to justice for what he did"robin said as the young speedster sighed
"Dude we don't know if he really did kill that girl? I mean…why would he bring her body?"kid flash asked as the hero scoffed
As right now he scanned below seeing that below the thief was entering the old factory right now with the hero smiling. As he leaped down with the others following suit as speedy used a zipline arrow to get down as kaldur jumped down as wally ran down the side of the building
Once the four got close to the building they opened the doors to reveal an old looking warehouse right now. Along with some old vats and tubes around the place but right now the infamous red-x was their right now exchanging something with someone covered by a hood on their head
As robin drew his birdirang"Stop right their red-x!"he demanded as the thief looked over flinching seeing them as he held the case close in his arms as the figure quickly ran out the nearest exit as kid flash was about to pursue.
But red-x threw a bomb tag hitting the ground where he was sending him flying into a wall. As speedy notched his arrow back eyeing him down
"The league sent us after you themselves…time for you to be brought in to figure out what you did to that girl"speedy demanded as the thief backed up holding the case close in his arms right now
"Kids you don't understand what this is….just let me go and we can just let this slide"Red-x said as robin eyed him down in shock that he demanded they let him go
"Let you go! You kidnapped a young girl who needed to be treated for a disease!"robin shouted not thinking straight
As he threw a sharp birdirang as time seemed to slow down right now. Once it did red-x tried to shield the case the best he can. But the birdirang hit the case before suddenly it started to glow right now which the thief noticed going wide eyed
The thief threw the case in the air as it slowed down time before suddenly it denated. Time reusmed with the blast pushing the thief out of the way with the entire building starting to denated. As the case hit an old looking tanker that caused a chain reaction causing kid flash to use his speed to get to his friends
"We gotta get out of here now!"he shouted with much haste as robin saw the thief right now slowly picking himself up coughing and hacking right now
"No! We need to grab him and make him answer for his crimes!"robin said running forward to grab the thief. But wally looked up seeing a burning beam coming down straight for the thief as he eyed his options. Before zipping over grabbing robin about to go for the thief
But the debris came down hard on him before the explosion launched him out of the building as they needed to escape from the burning building. With robin watching the flames consume the thief in a fiery inferno on fire.
Present
The others stood their in shock for a moment hearing that story as jinny eyed robin who was perched on a rooftop messing with his hologlove right now as artemis looked shocked
"So…you all went after him before but…he…"she paused
"Reports from back then said he was stealing tons of equipment from research labs. But the final straw for him was when he beat him up badly after he kidnapped some girl from a hospital. She was in critical condition from what the doctors told us along with the parents begging for us to bring their daughter back."kid flash explained
"Thats why robin is so obsessed with him. Getting outshined and beaten with his own mentor finding him with a broken leg. But then failing to save a young girl who might have been sold to organ traffickers"red arrow added
Taking this in for a long time right now jinny sighed rubbing her face staring at the young bird themed hero.
"Well we need to reign in this wild bird then"She said walking over as they followed her as robin was busy trying to calculate where the thief went playing the footage back on the rooftop. But he saw how he caused the explosion making him look down sighing as he felt someone place a hand on his shoulder
Not grabbing it as he glanced up seeing jinny their as he sighed figuring out what he did was wrong
"My bad for what i said"robin apologized as she took a seat with conner crossing his arms
"The others told us about what happened that night…is that why your obsessed with this red-x guy"conner questioned with robin pausing for a moment sighing right now
"Look i know what i did was wrong but…the people hes involved with is personal to me"robin said catching their interest
"How so?"wraith asked as he stared down at the ground thinking of his past for a bit
"I used to be apart of a circus with my parents but…one day i see them arguing with someone. That day…it was the best show of our lives but it was my parents last show"robin explained slowly as they listened with wally looking down knowing how much his friend hates talking about this day as robin clenched his fist
"A thug by the name of tony zucco took them from me and batman took me in as his ward. That day i felt like i belonged to someone but…red-x was rumored to be working with the man who took my parents. My guess is he sold that girl or something to him…i wanted to see what he did with her…how him and zucco were connected…maybe to find my uh…."he paused on the word with jinny placing a hand on his back patting it for a second
"Hey i get it…but…"she paused before punching him in the side making him wince slightly
"Don't say that crap again about me being related to that scumbag who is my pa"jinny said as he chuckled
"I got it but…we gotta find the mayor now…but how?"robin asked aloud though wraith had an idea cross her mind thinking about what the others told them
"Wait? What did this guy even steal from those research labs?"wraith asked
"How is that relevant rookie?"Red arrow spat back as wally tapped his chin going slightly wide eyed
"Huh you know he did steal some equipment but he did also steal experimental medical equipment too. But that was for a whole year when he went quiet until now"kid flash replied as robin slightly went wide eyed for a moment thinking of something right now
"Wait a minute….m'gann did you managed to get anything before he knocked you down"robin asked as the martian paused for a moment
"No but….i think i can find out where he might be…a mind like that shouldn't be hard to find or his employers"m'gann said as they had a new plan in mind to track this thief down right now
Elsewhere in gotham right now it was quiet by the docks right now as inside an old warehouse was none other than harvey dent also known as two face. With him flipping a coin up and down right now as bonded and gagged to a chair was hamilton who looked scared at the sight of the man. With the mobster catching his coin sighing
"Now mayor we used to be good friends back in the day. But your little rules for how criminals are treated has made this entire city a cest pool"harvey said as hamilton tried to say something as the mobster glared
"Ungag him boys"two face said as the thugs did with the man breathing some fresh air
"Harvey! Why are you doing this my friend!? I thought we were friends but…but…is this because i'm running as mayor?"he asked as the mobster stared him down with a glare right now
"You have't done anything for this city except letting more crime run rampent. I've had to resort to drastic measure besides…i know someone who can replace you and accomplish the dreams i've had for a long time before my accdient"harvey said gesturing to the shadows right now.
As slowly stepping out of the shadows right now was none other than jessica dent who smiled at her competition with hamilton glaring at her
"Dent! Of course you'd ask for help from criminals since your brother is one!"he shouted as the women scoffed slapping him across the face leaving a red mark as she sighed tapping her chin
"Dear i'm asking for help since me and my brother here wanna get rid of the crime here. You've allowed it to happen along with having the bat run things. After he caused my brother to end up with these…scars"jessica said with venom gesturing to the two side face of two face now as the man panted
"But…the marconias are responsible! Harvey please! What your doing is mad!"he shouted but the mobster scoffed as he snapped his fingers. The thugs began to drag him away as slowly someone else made themselves known with a laugh
"Seems someone got their end of the deal…now i think we need to complete ours"Red-x spoke up emerging from the shadows with jessica staring at him smiling
"Oh we'll gladly pay you for a job well done…but your job is far from over now"she said making the thief eye her down with an intense glare for saying that
"Not over? I helped take that dam mayor you owe me your help right now because if you don't your dead meat dent"red-x said but immedialty two face grabbed the thief slamming his face into a desk. As he didn't even bother fighting back as two face leaned down staring him down
"Listen here punk. We aren't done until the elections happen which is soon you help us…we get you that doctor you need for your illness. Got it"two face said as the theif looked down right now with his face hidden as jessica leaned down
"Make sure to help us get rid of the mayor later it'll be a shame he died in a fishing accident. Gear up and if you don't arrive well…we won't hold the end of our deal up"jessica threatened as her brother let him go as red-x scoffed leaving them through a window as the dent siblings had plans to rule this city with an iron fist to prevent crime
As red-x left the area he failed to noticed someone following him as the thief kept moving through the rooftops of the ruined crime infested city. With him slowly making his way after twenty minutes to a old and abandoned part of the city right now
Slowly he made his way down it as he found a fire escape as he opened a nearby window. As he entered a room that looked brand new it seems right now as he slowly scanned the area making sure no one was here to see anything. With him stepping into a furnished living room as someone called out to him
"Are you still in your pajamas?"a girl voice called out as he looked over to the source. That being a young girl who was about eight years old along with having pale looking skin. Though she had light brown hair along with having green eyes. Though she was in a pair of black pajama pants with a revanant t-shirt on right now for her favorite superhero
The thief sighed walking over taking her to a nearby couch to lay down right now
"Yeah kiddio had some work to do…thought i put you to bed right now lucky i swung by"red-x said as the young girl groaned a little hugging herself
"My chest hurt"She cired as the thief rubbed her head gently right now
"Hey where working on it kid we'll work on getting you a new heart in no time. "Red-x said before suddenly he felt a presence right now as he drew out two x shaped knives but someone stopped him
"Hold up their x lets talk"kid flash said as the team was their with robin staring at the thief who stared them down as the young girl began to go into a coughing fit with the thief eyeing her as m'gann stepped forward
But he threw a knife near her feet pointing the second at her with a glare under his mask
"Don't come near her alien"red-x threatened making her put her hands up with the poor girl contisounyl coughing and wheezing right now as jinny sighed
"Buddy that little girl yours or something?"She asked as he heisated with robin stepping forward as the two met face to face or to say mask to mask as the two stared back at each other as he deduced it
"You weren't stealing for the money you where stealing to help this kid….who also is known as piper williams. But…her parents were arrested after her dispperance were discovered to be drug dealers. Their entire house was a drug lab and she was put into protective services"robin started but stared at the thief for a moment
"Orginally she was in a foster home in gotham but was taken in by them for the check that came from the child service offices. But a fire previously happened at the home she was in, she suffered internal organ damage which placed her in a hospital. But shifting through the old records said she was a lost cause since the equipment available to keept her safe wasn't completed yet."robin added as the thief finished
"Until recently as rumors of the princess of vlatava soon to be queen in the coming weeks since her parents died i heard. But the same heart transplant cost alot of money or…the right connections"red-x finished
With them going silent as piper kept coughing and coughing groaning in pain writhing making the thief eye her. As kaldur stepped forward as red-x was about to stop him but the atlantian placed a hand on the young girl head feeling her burning up
"She needs a hospital…why hasn't she even been to one?"kaldur questioned
"She has…she had to get three other organ transplants…I had to take her to buddies who owed me all that left is her heart. But i can't exactly go into a hospital dressed up like this"Red-x replied
"What? You scared now after our last meeting thief"Red arrow said as the thief eyed him down scoffing
"A little but you'll never see my face…besides i got a job to do you either let me leave or else"red-x threatened but conner eyed him for a moment staring at the girl hearing the faint heartbeat from her as he soften his gaze
"You need our help…thats why you attacked the mayor and left a feather"conner said with robin figuring it out
"You knew i'd come after you and you know that i'd probably help you since you've dealt with someone i've been after"Robin said as the thief crossed his arms
"Everyone knows your after zucco for what he did to that grayson family….rumors go around you and his kid where friends with batman. That true?"he asked as he nodded hiding his true identity as the thief paused for a moment as artemis hummed
"Sell out two face and we can ensure she gets the best medical treatment. Decades ahead of schedule even…what do you say?"Artemis asked as the thief eyed them down for a long moment
Hours later at the docks right now two face and jessica where their with the mayor bonded and gagged to a chair right now. As they waited soon enough walking from the shadows was red-x who apporahced them with a stride in his step
"Their you are now we can finish this off. We need you to be a distraction and cause some mischief along with planting some evidence in hamilton home. Say that well….he hired some thugs to rough up my dear sister here"two face said
"Yes but i can get roughed up make up is too obvious with the bat involved if he hears about it. Oh and poor bruce….him and harv where such good friends"jessica added as the thief eyed them
"So you said that you could possible get someone that can get my friend a new heart right? Like in the next week"red-x asked as the two siblings shared a look as jessica smirked placing a hand on his shoulder
"Of course in the next few days when i'm elected they'll get the best heart they need"she said but the thief eyed her before doing something. Swiftly he kneed her in the gut making her gasp in pain as she fell onto her knees as harvey pointed dual handgun at him alongside his thugs
"Ah ah i wouldn't point those"someone said zipping by stealing their guns and two face looked to see all his thugs knocked down. Looking over he saw kid flash with a pile of guns as the other members of the team stepped forward with m'gann smiling
"Can't exactly hide anything from someone who can read minds…you were never planning on giving him it…you planned to kill him after you where done with him."m'gann said as jessica growled as harvey put his hands up for a bad job
After an hour the police arrived freeing hamilton as jessica and harvey were tossed into a squad car with jessica screaming death threats right now. As joining them right now green arrow and batman along with revanant their as the commissioner apporahced them
"Well seems dent is just like her dear old twin brother. Both of them will be locked away shame that her kid will be put into foster care."jim said as internally wraith chuckled as becky deserved it for all her torment she caused
"Right but what about our mysterious friend here"revanant said eyeing red-x leaning against a squad car with him staring them all down as the dark knight stared back with no emotion at all
"It seems we may need to restraint you before you cause more trouble"batman said but stepping in his way was his own ward robin as red arrow even eyed him down for a moment with an untrusting look right now
"Batman look for the last two years in my career…we've chased him down for assuming he was stealing for himself but he–"he was stopped
"Stealing to provide for a young girl from an orphanage presumably being one of the same orphans from that extract orphanage. Along with that having stolen experimental medical equipment to save her life. But still is a thief for everything he dones although….you haven't harmed anyone physically"batman said as the thief eyed the bat down for a moment laughing a little
"Got it on a point but i can just leave right now"Red-x stated
"But you haven;t? Why is that?"red arrow questioned as the thief thought for a moment eyeing the team down for a long moment as he narrowed his eyes as his mask adjusted to it
"I got promised that if i help you all catch two face and his sister you'd rescue the kid…you gonna hold up your end of the deal?"red-x questioned with robin staring at him nodding
"We will but…that leaves you we can either lock you up in belle reve for your entire life or…"he paused eyeing wally and kaldur who shared a look as aquald walked over offering a hand to the thief who looked puzzled
"I work better alone kid"red-x said
"Really? Come on your a thief but you got a heart of gold besides….you help us we help you. Besides you get to be a hero instead of some low down crook rotting in a jail cell."wally added
"He is right you should consider this offer before we decide to just throw you away in a cell"kladur said as the thief thought for a moment seeing no use in arguing as he reached a hand out shaking. Before suddenly something was slapped on his neck that being a thin collar made from the ones at belle reve
The thief chuckled"i don't have powers its just my suit"red-x said
"We know but we don't trust you kid. Besides you'll be having someone watch your ever move right now….welcome to the team new guy"green arrow said as the other headed to the bioship with wally, roy, dick and kaldur staying behind as red arrow eyed them all down for this
"You shouldn't be taking someone new in who has criminal connections"roy warned
"It'll be fine man besides…he was just helping a sick kid thats all hes doing"wally argued but batman spoke up
"He is right besides….he'll be under close watch by a member of the league"batman stated as revannt eyed the teens seeing his own student right now sighing
"I'll volunteer for a month long shift my sector should be fine got a few buddies watching out for me"revnant said as they agreed upon that.
Mount justice october 14th 9:49am
It was a new day in mount justice right now with the team getting used to their new teammate right now. As right now red-x was in a strange outfit that being a pair of blue jeans with some black strudy boots on. Though he also wore a black tanktop showing off his toned arms but he kept the mask on his face which confused them
"You ever gonna remove that mask buddy?"wally asked reaching out but the thief smacked his hand away
"Mask stays on besides…little ankle bracelet makes sure i don't leave"red-x said planting his boot showing off his ankle bracelet right now as artemis laughed
"So were recruiting theifs now. Great what do we even call you new guy?"Artemis asked as the thief eyed her down
"Red-x"he answered which annoyed them
"Are you seriously not gonna tell us your dumb name or something?"jinny asked as he nodded with m'gann staring at him as he wagged a finger at her
"Ah ah martian girl my heads prepared for your little tricks good luck trying to peek into my head"red-x said as she tried to peer into his mind but couldn't as she grunted for a moment rubbing hers
"I can't even get inside his head…..i can't even read his mind"m'gann said to their surprise
"Are you kidding me?!"deliah questioned in surprise right now as the thief laughed grabbing an apple slightly lifting his mask up taking a bite of it revealing him to have fair skin it seems as he munched on it before pulling it back down to swallow
"I'll be in your care kiddies…keep up with me"red-x said throwing the apple in the air before it perfectly landed on its stem with robin eyeing their member down mentally taking notes on the possible mole being here now within their mitts.
It seems that they have a new member in the form of red-x joining the team. I know it may seem dumb but i will be keeping his name and identity a secret for a long time if I do a longer series on this. Thanks for reading!
