A Toy's Intuition
Chapter 5
Running Doesn't Fix Everything
Andy didn't stop. He wouldn't stop. His lungs felt like they were on fire, but he kept running. He couldn't let anyone get to him. Not the bullies, not his mom. Nobody. He just wanted to be alone forever. He wanted to be dead. He wanted to go back to being a little kid where he could just be with his toys. They were the only ones who understood him. The only ones that loved him. His mom didn't love him. She just liked to control him.
He finally stopped when he tripped and fell. He cradled his knees to his chest knowing he had busted his knee open. He stayed still letting the pain fill him. He didn't mind the pain. He waited until the pain faded and gently put pressure on his leg. He hissed feeling his leg protest at the pressure. He gently put pressure on it again testing how much he could put on it.
He began limping further into the woods. Desperately needing to hide from his Mom. As he limped his way further into the woods he thought about what his plan was. He honestly didn't know. He just knew at the time he needed to get away. What was the plan? Run away? He didn't want to leave his toys. They were his only friends. He couldn't go back though. His Mom would be waiting for him. He didn't know what to do.
Back At The House
Woody sat in his thinking spot. He didn't know what to do about Andy. They had agreed they would break code, but how? How do they do that without scaring him or making him come off crazy like they had with Sid. Even though Woody didn't like the kid he felt bad with what his actions had caused. Sid had never been the same and even though Cody felt he deserved it, Woody would acknowledge it was his fault. He wasn't sure how to go about this without the same thing happening to Andy.
The other toys hadn't thought about that. They hadn't seen the effect that breaking code had on Sid. Sometimes he really hated being the leader of this group. He didn't want to be the one to figure out how to fix this. He was exhausted in every way possible. He had not slept once since he first saw Andy cut himself. He stayed up every night watching Andy. He had not rested, he only thought of ways to help Andy.
He frowned hearing a car door slam. Nobody should have been home for hours. Woody ran to the window already feeling like something was wrong. Nothing had been right for weeks. He watched closely as Andy's mom ran into the house. He frowned hearing her yelling Andy's name. Why was she yelling Andy's name? She had just taken Andy to school? Why would she think that Andy would be here?
Fear ran through his hearing her running on the stairs. "Someone's coming! Freeze!" Everyone dropped just seconds before Andy's mom frantically ran into the house. She crazily looked under his bed, in his closet, under his covers. Woody watched her confused. What is she doing?
"Andy! Come out, this isn't funny!" She frantically looked around his room. What was she doing? What does she mean 'come out'? She quickly ran out of the room. The toys all slowly got up, being mindful that she could come back in. Woody looked back out the window seeing Andy's mom run back outside yelling his name. Woody frowned watching her…
"Guys…I think we're going to have to do something sooner than we thought."
