p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Despite his fatigue, Chishiya lay awake into the early hours of the morning, Niragi's soft, steady breathing the only sound echoing through the darkness. /span/spanspan style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"His mind just couldn't find rest. Too many thoughts whirled through it, too many questions waited to be answered. H/span/spanspan style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"is thoughts were a tangled mess of emotions and logic. He had always prided himself on his ability to remain detached, to observe and analyse without ever getting emotionally involved, without ever second guessing himself. But Niragi and the many similarities they shared, had, for the first time in his life, shattered that detachment, had broken through his carefully constructed defences./span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"For a long while, Chishiya studied Niragi's gentle features in the pale light of the stars faintly illuminating the hospital room through grimy windows. The usually sharp lines of Niragi's face were completely relaxed in his sleep, revealing an innocence Chishiya had never even dared imagine to be possible. It presented such an intense contrast to the ruthless, nefarious man Niragi had forced himself to become. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya forced himself to break out of his trance and turned his gaze to the ceiling, trying to piece together the events that had led them here. The Borderlands had a way of stripping people right down to their core, of exposing their deepest, darkest fears and desires. This country pushed them to rethink life itself, and to question it's worth. But in Niragi, Chishiya saw a reflection of his own struggle—a battle between the person he was and the person he wanted to be. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"emOut of all the people at the Beach, I hated him the most. Because looking at him was like staring right into a mirror, /em/span/spanspan style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya thought./span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"He had always believed that survival in the Borderlands required a certain ice cold ruthlessness, a willingness to do whatever it took to survive, even if it meant sentencing others to death. He'd envisioned himself as the main protagonist of whatever twisted nightmare they'd all woken up in. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"emThe protagonist always survives right until the end, /em/span/spanspan style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya had always reminded himself. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"But as he lay there, listening to the steady rhythm of Niragi's gentle breathing, painfully aware of the trust they now put in each other, daring to sleep in the same room, he began to question that belief. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"emMaybe this is the end to my loneliness, to the void I've felt since forever. Perhaps I can change and wake up from this numb existence, perhaps we can both change. Together. /em/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya couldn't hold back the soft smile now tugging on the corners of his lips, as the realisation dawned on him. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Niragi hadn't once judged him and his past since the five of hearts game, hadn't used the uncovered truths against him, or even shown so much as malintent towards him. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"emNo. He saw me as I truly am and didn't flinch once at the sight. Everyone wants to be seen for who they truly are. /em/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Niragi was the only person alive, who had witnessed the true him, the human behind the cold, calculating facade. Chishiya had been dead inside for countless years, he'd almost forgotten who he was himself. And it was because of Niragi's understanding, the parallels of their painful pasts, that Chishiya had finally managed to wake up. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya glanced once more at Niragi's sleeping outline. /span/spanspan style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"They had both come a long way, had both faced their own demons. But together, perhaps they could be stronger. Together, they could find a way to survive the Borderlands and maybe, just maybe, find a way back to a world where hope of a better future still existed. With that thought in mind, Chishiya finally allowed himself to close his eyes, the weight of exhaustion pulling him into a restless sleep. The road ahead would certainly not be easy, but for the first time in a very long while, he felt like he had finally found a reason worth living for./span/span/p

p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="CENTER"span style="color: #000000;" /span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="CENTER" /p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya's eyes fluttered open with the first rays of sunlight as they fell upon him, a gentle warmth heating his skin. He observed the dust particles dancing in the light falling in through cracks of the grime-caked windows, savouring the peaceful quiet, the simplicity of the moment. As he slowly blinked the sleep and already forgotten dreams away, reality began to set in and the memories of the previous day flooded his thoughts. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"A soft rustle to his left split the silence and tore Chishiya from his reverie. He inclined his head to find Niragi stirring in his sleep, face contorted with distress. A low whimper escaped Niragi's lips, as his body twitched as if fighting an invisible foe. Chishiya's brow furrowed slightly, when the undeniable, yet foreign feeling of concern overcame him. He contemplated waking Niragi up, saving him from whatever horrors his mind inflicted on him in his dreams. He felt himself drawn to the idea of soothing Niragi's distress, of putting an end to his torment. And although the sensation felt peculiar, Chishiya realised that this, this feeling of empathy, was exactly what he'd been yearning for all his life. The realisation filled him with bliss and hope, with a sense of calm and excitement. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"emMaybe I can change after all, /em/span/spanspan style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya thought, as he observed Niragi beside him. /span/spanspan style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"emI think, maybe, we were both sent here as a wake up call, a last chance./em/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya decided to give in to the pull to wake Niragi and stilled before he could even kick the dusty, moth eaten covers aside. He studied Niragi's features in silent apprehension. Niragi's tortured expression had already vanished, once again replaced by a peaceful, yet delicate innocence. With a deep breath, Chishiya let himself sink back against the head board, a soft, satisfied smile painted on his lips. They'd been unable to locate any pillows that wouldn't pose a serious health hazard the night before, so Chishiya had simply wedged his arm beneath his head. It hadn't been ideal, but at least his neck wasn't sore, merely a little stiff. Unlike Niragi's was destined to be once he awakened, as Chishiya regarded the position Niragi had shifted to. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"emI should let him sleep, he desperately needs it, /em/span/spanspan style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya thought, focused on Niragi's slow, steady breaths. /span/spanspan style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"emI should probably find us some food and at least commence with our search for medical supplies. /em/span/spanspan style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Though Chishiya found himself hesitating for a moment. Niragi was asleep, vulnerable, if anything were to happen while Chishiya wasn't there.../span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"emHe'll be fine, I won't roam far, /em/span/spanspan style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya convinced himself. With one last glance at Niragi soundly curled up in the remnants that was his bed, Chishiya quietly climbed out of his own bed, careful not to make any sound that might wake Niragi. With a swift, smooth motion he snatched his backpack and snuck out of the room, determined to accomplish his mission in record time. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT" /p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="CENTER"span style="color: #000000;" /span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="CENTER" /p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"It was a little past noon by the time Niragi finally woke up. Chishiya had been reluctant to wake him when he'd returned from his scavenging, knowing that with his concussion and previous lack of sleep, Niragi needed all the rest he could possibly get. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"While Niragi slept, Chishiya had used the time to make a plan to get them back to the Beach, and had scavenged through the hospital, finding various items that could be repurposed into makeshift weapons. The hospital was a treasure trove of useful junk, and Chishiya's quick thinking and resourcefulness turned ordinary objects into potential lifesavers./span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"He had crafted a couple of makeshift knives from broken glass, scalpels and medical tape, ensuring the edges were sharp enough to be effective. He also found some sturdy metal rods, which he fashioned into simple but deadly spears, in case they were forced to hunt. Niragi only had so much ammunition for his rifle, they'd have to be careful not to waste it. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"As he quietly worked away, seated on the rusty bed beside Niragi's, materials spread out before him, a loud noise suddenly cut through the silence. Chishiya held his breath, waiting for Niragi to wake from the disturbance, while Chishiya quickly identified the cause of the noise – a cave-in of a nearby building. But Niragi hadn't even stirred, his exhaustion keeping him in a deep sleep./span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"As he sat beside the bed, waiting for Niragi to rouse, Chishiya's mind continued to churn with plans and contingencies. He knew they'd likely spend several more nights out here, so finding resources and a safe place to rest were crucial. As was locating a functioning radio. Chishiya highly doubted they would find one in an abandoned Taxi or police car, with their state of deterioration in this area. But Chishiya knew of a police station a few miles out, that might provide a solution, as well as a potential place to spend the night. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"When Niragi finally stirred, Chishiya looked up and turned to him with a soft, reassuring smile. "Good morning. Or rather, good afternoon. How are you feeling?"/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Niragi blinked in an attempt to adjust his eyes to the light, before rubbing the sleep from his eyes with one hand. "What time is it?"/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;""span style="font-size: medium;"A little past noon," Chishiya replied. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Niragi nodded, sitting up slowly and wincing slightly as he stretched, a frown plastered on his face. "Why didn't you wake me?"/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;""span style="font-size: medium;"Because you desperately needed the rest," Chishiya explained warmly, before he reached into hi backpack and handed Niragi a packet of food and a bottle of water. "Here, eat something. We need to get moving soon. Unless you want to spend another night in here."/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Niragi accepted the food gratefully, and as he ate, Chishiya filled him in on the plan. "I found a few things we can use," he said, gesturing to the makeshift weapons and supplies. "There's a police station a few miles away. We should head there and search for a radio. We'll need to be careful, but I think we can make it there before sun down."/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Niragi listened intently, his eyes scanning the items Chishiya had gathered. "You've been busy," he remarked, a hint of admiration in his voice./span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya shrugged self-satisfied. "Can't hurt to be prepared."/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"When Niragi didn't reply and only stared at Chishiya with a thoughtful look in his eye, Chishiya's brow furrowed with apprehension. "What's wrong?" he inquired cautiously./span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Niragi shook his head slightly, yet his eyes remained locked with Chishiya's gaze. "Nothing, I... I think I'm starting to figure out what I want," Niragi gently replied, a soft smile tugging at the corners of his lips./span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;""span style="font-size: medium;"And what might that be?" /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;""span style="font-size: medium;"I... I think, I want an end. An end to this loneliness I've felt all my life," Niragi began, before he cleared his throat. "And I want someone to... not hate me for once."/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya watched Niragi's face, processing the vulnerability he was sharing. Chishiya still had to get used to the sight of Niragi being so open, so honest. Chishiya took a deep breath, contemplating his response carefully./span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"span style="color: #000000;""/spanspan style="color: #000000;"You're not alone in that," Chishiya finally said, his voice soft but steady. "I think we both want the same thing. Maybe we can help each other out."/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Niragi's eyes flickered with a mix of surprise and hope, the unmistakeable sincerity in Chishiya's words resonated deeply within him. "I think... I'd like that," Niragi responded after a few moments of silence, unable to hold back the genuine smile now lighting up his face. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya answered with his own soft smile, as the silence lingering between them, held a shared, unspoken promise. /span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"When Niragi finished his meal, Chishiya stood up, breaking the moment with a practical tone. "Let's get going then. We don't want to be out after dark."/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;""span style="font-size: medium;"What about the medical supplies for the Beach?"/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #000000;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya pointed at the duffle bag he'd scavenged up, now filled to the brim with supplies and smirked self-satisfied. "All taken care of."/span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;" align="LEFT"span style="color: #222222;"span style="font-size: medium;"Chishiya shouldered the duffle bag filled with supplies, the weight a comforting reminder of their progress and equiped a makeshift spear. Niragi, now fully awake and seemingly more at peace, followed suit, securing Chishiya's backpack across his back, before he could object, and slung his rifle over his shoulder. "Can't let you do all the work, can I?" Niragi mused, stashing away two of Chishiya's knives and arming himself with the other spear./span/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"span style="color: #000000;""Ready?" Chishiya asked softly./span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"span style="color: #000000;"Niragi nodded. "Let's move."/span/p
p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"span style="color: #000000;"The journey to the police station was relatively uneventful. The decaying streets, once bustling with life, were now silent, save for the occasional distant sound of crumbling buildings or the eerie echo of wind whipping through abandoned alleyways. p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"span style="color: #000000;"As they approached the police station, the sun had already begun its descent, casting long shadows and bathing the world in a golden hue./span/p

p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"span style="color: #000000;"Niragi nodded, his eyes scanning their surroundings. They reached the station just as the last rays of sunlight began to fade. p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"span style="color: #000000;"Niragi had barely made it two steps inside when a loud buzz filled the air. The lights flickered to life, illuminating the interior of the station in a harsh, artificial glow. p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"span style="color: #000000;"Chishiya stood frozen at the threshold, his gaze snapping to Niragi as he spoke, the choice before him clear yet agonising.
