Once again, Damian found himself on a rooftop fighting off assassins. At this point, it was becoming a habit.
Everything went a lot smoother this time around. Damian and Drake sneaked in while Todd raised chaos. When Drake was settled and was hacking into the system all Damian had to do was to act as guard.
They got the files and they rushed to help Todd to make their way to the roof. While it felt cliché to make the same type of exit, it was one of their best options since the league would not outright kill Damian due to his mother and Grandfather.
So they wouldn't shoot the aircraft down but would follow them if they used a vehicle or simply ran on foot. The only option was an aircraft. Also, not getting killed by the league did not mean that they wouldn't seriously harm Damian.
There were Lazurus pits, after all. They could get him all healed up. Death made it risky if the body wouldn't be in good condition to be brought back.
Damian was lucky to not be declared an enemy of the league but the same luck didn't extend to his siblings. So that was why he was currently fighting in close quarters beside them to keep them alive.
They all had a fair share of injuries. Drake had a long slash on his thigh, but it was shallow enough not to require immediate attention. Todd clearly favored his right side, but Damian had a small cut on his arm.
They all had some scratches and plenty of bruises but that was what you would expect from taking an army of assassins. Their ride was only 5 minutes away. they should be fine.
Damian dodged under a blade while kicking the man in the knee, effectively breaking his knee. He then kicked the guy away while deflecting a sword coming for his neck with his own.
He couldn't afford getting distracted. While taking on another guy he saw some men trying to swarm Todd. He made his way to his side. He knew Todd could handle it but he didn't want anyone get hurt.
he attacked the men while trying to be loud. He wanted to get their attention so Todd could use his gun. It was working. He spined and danced among the blades coming for him. avoiding blades with incredible accuracy. He wasn't able to fight offensively but he knew others would get to him soon.
He did a backflip to avoid a blade while kicking the guy behind him in the face in a move that would make Grayson proud. Just as he landed, he rolled to the side, feeling a flying dagger coming toward him from behind.
Unfortunately, he was a bit too slow, and the blade caught his side. He heard his name being yelled at, but he had to dodge another blade and attack. He backed up while feeling the wound. It seemed that his suit cut most of it. He wouldn't even need stitches for it. It was barely bleeding.
His relief was short lived as he was once again swarmed by enemies. only 2 minutes were left so they had to hold on. He started fighting again with new vigor. Everything was fine.
He could hear the sounds of the engine as their ride got closer and close they started moving toward a less crowded spot making room to get away. the jet was now in position.
It was next to the building so they had to jump in. Drake jumped in first. Todd also jumped. Damian saw dagger being thrown at them and one was going to hit Todd. He immediately deflected it with his sword but it meant that he left himself open to one that got him in the shoulder.
He quickly jumped in as well, and they were on their way.
As soon as they were on their route back, Todd went to grab the first aid kit while Drake was helping Damian out of his suit. The blade luckily only grazed his shoulder but it was still deep enough to need stiches.
Drake first took a piece of gauze from his utility belt and applied pressure on the wound to slow down the bleeding. Damian held back on making any noise. He didn't want to worry others by showing his pain. Drake then helped him out of the top half of his suit while asking if he had any injuries on his legs.
Damian signed no. he was a bit dizzy from blood loss and the adrenaline rush ending, but it wasn't the worst shape he had been in. Todd came back with the medical kit and started examining his shoulder while Drake was bandaging his arm and side.
When they were done with helping him, Todd gave him some painkillers and told him to sleep. Damian didn't have the energy to protest.
The last thing he saw was Todd stitching Drake's leg.
The ride back was uneventful. Damian slept for most of the ride but when he got up he saw Drake sleeping peacefully and Todd was reading in his chair. Damian tried to get up silently but he must have made enough noses for Todd to notice.
"How are you feeling?" Todd asked as he closed his book and got up.
'Thirsty.' Damian signed.
Todd snorted as he grabbed a water bottle and a protein bar for him. "Eat. We still have 3 more hours to go." Todd said. He waited for Damian to finish and then checked his bandages.
Once he was satisfied he let out a sigh of relief. 'You can take a nap. I can stay watch.' Damian signed. Todd looked about to fall sleep standing.
"I'm fine, squirt. I can sleep when we get back." Todd said.
It was obvious he was being stubborn. Damian's arm still hurt, so he wasn't about to have a full conversation in sign language. He got up and tried dragging Todd to his vacant seat.
Todd let him without much of a fight. He seemed amused. He laid down and made himself comfortable. "If I didn't know any better, I would say you are going soft," Todd said with a smirk.
Damian wanted to punch him, but he remembered that his left shoulder and right arm were both freshly wounded, so even if he punched full force, he would only injure himself. So he settled on letting out a huff and turning his back to go to where Todd had previously sat in front of the monitors.
He ignored the sound of chuckles Todd was making.
