Ratchet reduced Prowl's sedatives slowly. It was unkind to pull a mech out of unconsciousness quick and could cause a startle. Prowl's condition was still delicate. He was stable but he would be healing awhile before he can function as he had prior to his injury. "Please Primus don't put this mech through more." First Aid who been waiting on standby to help Ratchet if any problems came up piped up, "I don't think his spark could recover right now if something happens." Ratchet didn't even look at First Aid and continued intensely studying Prowl's monitors.
Pain. The first thing Prowl noticed when he woke up was pain. His protoform burned deep. An incessant beeping was coming from over his head. He slowly reached up to feel the copper wires which led to his spark chamber, but a hand intervened gently putting his hand back by his side. "Don't touch that. We have you on life support for the time being to keep the strain off your spark." Ratchet continued, "We repaired as much damage as we could in the time that you were under but you will have to have many surgeries to fix everything." Prowl tried to online his optics but ran into medical override only blocks. Ratchet must've realized what he was doing and spoke ,"We sent a team out to find you new optics since the accident made yours irreparable but they were unable to find any. I have a meeting with Wheeljack later this orn to discuss him possibly building you some." Prowl was unable to respond finding his vocalizer also offline. First Aid and Ratchet exchanged looks and First Aid hit a button on the infusion pump increasing the sedatives. Ratchet turned up the heating blanket meant to help modulate Prowl's body temperature. Prowl thought to himself, "Maybe I can use comms?" but before he could try it, he sank back into the void of unconsciousness.
"His spark readings were all over the place. The frequency and pulse was way too high for his frametype. How often would you like me to put the nanite gel on him?"
"As often as you can in between patients and your other duties. No longer than 3 cycles at the absolute most. He has a high risk for infection so take standard burn precautions."
"Yes sir." First Aid double checked his patient and then left to go see to the rest of the medbay.
Ratchet left Mebay to meet with Wheeljack in the engineering sector of the base. In fresh red paint, some mech had painted the glyph for danger on the floor in the hall in front of Wheeljack's lab. Ratchet harrumphed at that. It definitely wasn't the work of a professional. Probably Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. Surrounding the door was yellow and black stripes with caution glyphs. The door was a massive vault style door which could and did survive nuclear style blasts. Ratchet put his palm to a hand scanner the the right of the door and it slowly opened. The lab inside didn't look much like a lab-that is that there was random contraptions, parts and spilled chemicals just about everywhere on every surface. Wheeljack was in the back of the room fiddling with something or another. Ratchet called to Wheeljack, announcing his presence from a distance in case if Wheeljack was working with something really volatile.
Wheeljack startled almost immediately. "Ratchet! Sorry about the mess! I'm not used to visitors. Actually I think Prime ordered most of the troops to stay out of my lab unless ordered after that last incident." Wheeljack chuckled a bit after that and started muttering under his breath something about xenon being unstable. Ratchet cut Wheeljack off, "I'm sorry for cutting you off Jack, but I really need your help with a patient. He lost his optics-"
"You mean Prowl?"
"Patient confidentiality!" Ratchet sounded exasperated.
"We all care about Prowl. Have you seen the mayhem going on in the command center without him?"
