Long time no see, I've been sorta floored with where, how and what order I've wanted the story to proceed in, which led to a bit of procrastination, and a slight drop in quality, in my eyes anyways, still, despite this enjoy!
Flaaaaaaaaaashbaaaaaaaaack...!
A few minutes have passed now, Emilia and Petra are outside, in the huge back garden lawn, tasked with creating the soccer field, Emilia checks over the blueprint, which contains a map of 2 soccer fields one a miniature version of another, with landmarks corresponding to things in the Manor grounds to show positions and dimensions of length, though it troubled her, the lack of actual measurements were slightly bothersome. Emilia looks at the blueprint with a slight frown.
"Hmmm... This blueprint doesn't have any actual measurements. How are we supposed to mark out the field accurately without them?"
After looking at the drawing for a while, Petra suddenly had an idea.
"Emi-chan...I mean, Emilia-sama, I have an idea!"
She eagerly suggests a way we could figure out the measurements without any actual numbers on the blueprint. Curiosity piqued, Emilia turns to Petra and nods her head, signalling her to continue.
"I'm all ears, Petra. What's your idea?"
Excitedly, Petra points to a particular landmark outlined on the paper
"These are outlines of the paths right?"
She then pointed to the cobbled, sandstone paths outside, surrounding two great big fields of free space.
"Well...what if we used them to find out how long and how wife our pitch should be?"
Emilia's eyes widen in realisation, her mind quickly processing Petra's idea. She looks at the surrounding fields and paths, then back at the blueprint, mulling it over.
"That's a clever thought, Petra! We can use the existing paths and landmarks as references to measure out the exact dimensions."
Emilia praises Petra, smiling broadly. Petra's face lights up with pride as Emilia praises her idea, eagerly rubs her hands together in anticipation as she gazes at the large free space around her, imagining the football pitch taking shape on the grass.
"Okay, let's do this!"
"First of all, we'll outline the borders of the pitching areas using these ice shards."
Emilia extends her hand, creating sharp, pointed ice shards. She then shoots them with precision at rapid-fire speed, using them to create a clear, rectangular outline on the grass, similarly to when she fought The Great Rabbit, following as closely to the outline of the path as possible. Petra's jaw drops, and her eyes widen in amazement as Emilia effortlessly shoots ice shards from her hand, following the path and outline of the pitch in perfect symmetry. She stands there, mouth agape for a few seconds, before letting out a small laugh, amused by how cool Emilia looks while using her powers like that.
"Wow Emilia-sama! That was amazing! You're so cool!"
Emilia gives a small, but genuine smile at the young girl's praise, waving it off modestly. She was getting used to praise, despite her striking resemblance to the Witch, but still felt bashful at times, still having a little humility
"Aww, thank you, Petra. I'm just doing my best to help. But honestly, you're the one who came up with the idea. That's pretty clever of you!"
She looked at her handiwork, with a glint of accomplishment.
"Now we need to repeat the process for the replica pitch, but smaller this time,"
She says, gesturing to the smaller, more compact version of the field on the print. She then uses her magic to create more shards, shooting them with precision and speed, tracing the outline and boundaries of the mini replica, whilst Petra watches with great interest, her eyes following the movement of each ice shard as they fly through the air and land perfectly aligned. She can't help but admire how elegant and effortless Emilia makes it seem, though a pang of envy courses through her as she wishes she could use her magic just as gracefully as Emilia does. After completing the smaller pitch, Emilia takes a step back, surveying their work with a satisfied look on her face. The outlines of both pitches are now clearly defined on the grass, their boundaries marked by a series of precise ice shards. She then turns to Petra, a slight smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
"And voilà, we have our pitches." She quipped, imitating Subaru. Petra looks at Emilia with a curious expression, her head tilted as she tries to understand the unfamiliar word.
"Vwhalà?" Petra repeats, trying to mimic Emilia's pronunciation but struggling slightly.
"What does that mean, Emilia-sama?"
Emilia giggles lightly at Petra's attempt to pronounce the word.
"Oh, sorry about that. It's 'voila.' It means, 'there you go,' or 'ta-da.' I guess it's just something Subaru often says when he completes something. Sorry if it sounded strange."
She clarifies, gently patting Petra on the head.
The young girl's face lights up in recognition as Emilia explains the meaning and origin of the word. She listens intently, absorbing the new information. Then, her face breaks out into a wide grin as Emilia lightly pats her head, a gesture that seems to bring her great joy.
"Ohhh, I get it now! That makes sense! Voila!" She repeats, this time, getting the pronunciation perfect. Emilia continues marking the boundaries, using her fire (temperature) magic to create shards of ice, outlining the essential markings on the field. She concentrates on the task at hand, using her accuracy and precision to create the half-way line, centre circle, the penalty box and D and 6-yard box, and the corner arcs with finesse. Each line is drawn with a clear, steady hand, as she methodically transforms the grass into a proper playing field.
"Okay, that should be the markings done,"
She says, taking another step back, and observing the newly created field. Both pitches now contained the essential features of a typical football field. Petra's eyes darted around the field, taking in the newly created markings. It looks almost like a real soccer field now. Her expression is a mixture of excitement and disbelief, not quite believing that they've managed to create a proper pitch using nothing but Emilia's magic.
"It looks amazing, Emilia-sama! Great job!"
…
But then suddenly the realisation hits Petra and Emilia like a heatwave - literally. As they take in the hot and humid summer day, they suddenly realise that the ice markings will melt in this weather. Petra's excitement quickly turns to dismay at the thought of their hard work going to waste.
"Uh oh. I didn't think about the heat... These markings are just ice, and they're going to melt in this weather."
Emilia mulls it over for a moment, placing her finger on her chin in deep thought, then an idea suddenly forms in her mind. She turned to Petra, a determined look on her face.
"We need to do something about these markings, otherwise they'll melt before we can start playing. I think we need to borrow some white paint from Subaru and Rem."
Petra nods, a look of serious determination on her face.
"You're right, Emilia-sama. We have to preserve these markings before it's too late. Let's go to Subaru-sama and Rem-nee-sama and ask for some white paint!"
"Let's get to it, then."
And with that, the determined duo starts making their way over to Kit makers Subaru and Rem, hoping they have some spare paint to help preserve their markings. As they approach the main hall Subaru and Rem, Petra can't help but feel a mixture of excitement and anxiety. She's eager to get the white paint and preserve the markings, but at the same time, she's nervous about interrupting Subaru and Rem's day. However, she quickly pushes those feelings aside, knowing that this is important. Reaching the main hall, Emilia gives a cheerful greeting.
"Subaru! Rem! Excuse us for interrupting. Can we ask you something?"
But to their intense bewilderment, Subaru and Rem, were nowhere to be found…
