It was an exhilarating prospect for all of Mystery Inc. to be aboard a real-life UFO. Crystal had insisted they join her on a summer trip to her home planet of Moldavite. The timing was perfect—there were no university classes for the Gang or Crystal. Plus, as did Peridot, Ruby had a break from middle school since he didn't have to teach during the summer. The adventure felt like the ultimate summer vacation they'd never forget.
Crystal had jumped through numerous legal hoops to get clearance for her human friends. Standing beside her little sister, she was in her true form—elegant and slightly alien. Her excitement was infectious, though Ruby seemed a bit deflated that her Earth friends couldn't come along. The government leaders of Moldavite had only permitted Mystery Inc.
"I'm genuinely hoping you'll enjoy your summer vacation in my home world," Crystal said warmly. Her eyes sparkled with anticipation. "Everything is at its peak during the summer."
"This is honestly a historical moment," Velma said, adjusting her glasses. Her curiosity was unmistakable. "We're the first humans to visit another planet outside our solar system. Are you confident we'll be able to survive?" she asked, a note of concern in her voice.
Crystal nodded reassuringly. "As my sister mentioned, we breathe oxygen like humans, and our planet is roughly the same size as Earth—except for the Saturn-like rings. But please don't agonize about getting past them. We have to time it right, and an opening will appear for half an hour—well, half an hour of your time, anyway."
"I'm thrilled to be heading home, even if our parents can only stay for a few weeks," Ruby added, her earlier excitement returning.
"But what about the language barriers?" Daphne asked, her brow furrowing slightly. "We know you taught Shaggy and Scooby some of your language, but learning a second language is challenging," the redhead informed the gorgeous alien woman.
"No need to worry, Daphne. The special hearing aids we provided for you will translate everything we say in our native tongue into English for you," Crystal explained, her tone light but comforting.
Peridot, who had been listening quietly, stepped forward. "If you don't mind, Crystal, I'd like to educate our visitors more regarding our civilization and customs so we don't have any unintentional mishaps," he suggested.
"Good idea, Peridot," Crystal agreed. "It'll still be a couple of days before we reach our world, so please do your best to familiarize them."
"I thought summer break meant no school," Fred mumbled, following Peridot to the classroom section of the ship, a hint of reluctance in his voice.
Crystal chuckled softly. "It's not school, Fred. This is more of a cultural orientation space. We want to ensure you understand and respect Moldavite's customs and traditions."
Shaggy lingered for a moment, his anxiety evident. "Do you think anyone on your planet will be bothered by us being a couple?" he asked, searching Crystal's eyes for reassurance.
"I won't lie, Shaggy," Crystal spoke in a serious yet gentle voice. "Some of my people might find it offensive, and others won't. You'll have to take it as it comes. However, since you've already had the chance to understand our culture and customs, that might assist in easing the tension."
Ruby chimed in. "Either way, Shaggy, you should go with Peridot to make sure you remember everything you need to fit in," she said sensibly. Shaggy nodded, determination replacing his earlier hesitation, and he and Scooby headed off to the classroom, eager to learn.
The gang found it challenging to absorb everything quickly, and they weren't thrilled about having to wear the unique jumpsuits provided by Crystal's people. The jumpsuits, made of a sleek, silver material, were a safety precaution to prevent any possible contamination or spread of disease. They were surprisingly comfortable, with built-in temperature control and communication devices. It was a practical compromise that everyone could respect.
As the spaceship neared the magnificent rings of Moldavite, the anticipation inside grew. Crystal stood by the control panel. Her eyes focused on the shimmering bands that encircled her home planet. The rings glistened with hues of violet and silver, a sight so mesmerizing it left the gang speechless.
"This is it," Crystal announced, her voice tinged with determination and nostalgia. "We need to time this perfectly. The gap should occur any moment now."
The entire crew held their breath, eyes wide as they watched the rotating rings. Just as Crystal predicted, a large enough gap began to form, a fleeting window of opportunity. Crystal's fingers danced across the control panel with practiced precision, guiding the ship with a steady hand.
"There it is!" Ruby exclaimed, pointing as the opening expanded. Crystal's focus never wavered as she maneuvered the ship toward the gap.
The intergalactic spaceship glided through the gap, the danger of the maneuver evident in every passing second. The gang's hearts raced as they watched the rings loom closer and closer. Outside the windows, the view shifted dramatically, revealing the vibrant landscape of Moldavite below. Brilliant crystals intertwined with lush forests, crystalline lakes, and towering mountains filled their view, bathed in the warm glow of a setting sun.
"We're through!" Crystal declared, breaking the silence. A collective sigh of relief followed, and smiles of triumph spread across the gang's faces, their hearts light with the joy of a successful journey.
As the ship descended, the gang's astonishment deepened. Moldavite was even more breathtaking up close. The air was crisp and fragrant, filled with the scents of glistening neon-colored blossoms and rich, fertile soil. Their eyes widened in awe at the jaw-dropping magnificence of this alien world.
Crystal directed the ship toward a landing pad in a serene valley surrounded by bluish-green hills and sparkling turquoise streams. The landing was gentle, the spaceship touching down with barely a jolt. As the engines powered down, the cabin filled with a soft hum, a reminder of the incredible journey they had just completed.
"Welcome to Moldavite," Crystal said, her voice filled with pride and a hint of emotion. She turned to her friends, her smile warm. "My parents will be here any moment to greet you," she said.
The ship's ramp lowered with a quiet hiss, and the group stepped into the cool evening air. The ground beneath their feet was soft and springy, a stark contrast to Earth's hard, compacted soil. The sky above was a deep indigo, dotted with unfamiliar constellations that twinkled dazzlingly. It was both alien and comforting, a sky that held endless mysteries.
Two figures appeared at the edge of the landing pad, their forms silhouetted against the fading light. As they drew closer, the gang could see the resemblance between Crystal, Ruby, and their parents.
Selenite, their mother, had a regal presence, her form shimmering with the same translucent beauty as her daughters. Her eyes were a deep, soothing blue. Her expression was one of warmth and welcome. Granet, their father, was taller and more solidly built, with a kind face and eyes that sparkled with intelligence.
"Crystal! Ruby!" Selenite's voice was full of deep affection as she embraced her daughters. The reunion was heartwarming. Selenite then turned her gaze to the humans, her smile widening. "Welcome, dear friends. We are honored to have you here on Moldavite."
Granet stepped forward, extending a hand in the Earth custom, which Fred and Shaggy shook with a mix of respect and curiosity. "We've heard so much about you all," he said, his voice warm. "We hope your journey was pleasant."
"It was incredible," Velma replied, still in awe of their new surroundings. "And we're eager to learn more about your world."
"We've prepared a feast in your honor," Selenite said, gesturing toward a path that led into the hills. "It's a small way to show our gratitude for your bravery in making this journey."
As they walked down the trail, the alien scenery became more breathtaking with each step. The route was lined with bioluminescent plants that gently glowed in the twilight. The gang couldn't help but marvel at the world they found themselves in—a different yet inviting place.
"It's like something out of a dream," Daphne whispered, her eyes wide as she saw the vibrant flora around them.
Shaggy nodded, his usual nervousness momentarily forgotten. "Like, this is far out, man," he said, his voice tinged with awe.
Scooby-Doo wagged his tail enthusiastically, his nose twitching as he sniffed the air. "Ruh-roh smells delish!" he barked, anticipating the feast ahead.
Velma, ever the scientist, was captivated by the details. "The bioluminescence here seems to be on a completely different spectrum than anything on Earth," she mused, her analytical mind racing. "I'd love to study this more—"
"Velma, we're on vacation," Fred gently reminded her, though he couldn't hide his own fascination.
Crystal and Ruby led them to a clearing where a large, beautifully set table awaited them. The table was adorned with various dishes, each more exotic and enticing than the last. The food sparkled with almost magical colors, and the scents wafting from the dishes were utterly irresistible.
"Everything here is safe for you to eat," Crystal assured them with a smile. "We've prepared dishes that cater to your Earth palates but with a Moldavite twist."
"Like, we're totally ready to dig in," Shaggy said, his eyes widening as he eyed the feast. "This looks amazing!"
Selenite and Granet took their seats at the head of the table, motioning for the gang to join them. The first taste of Moldavite cuisine was met with delighted exclamations. The flavors were unlike anything they had ever experienced—sweet, savory, spicy, and tangy all at once, with textures that ranged from crisp to velvety smooth.
"Raggy, this is the best rupper ever!" Scooby said between bites, his tail wagging furiously.
"I have to agree, Scoob," Shaggy replied, savoring another mouthful. "This food is out of this world—literally!"
As the meal continued, the gang shared stories of their adventures on Earth while Crystal's family shared tales of Moldavite history and culture. There was laughter, curiosity, and a growing bond between the humans and their extraterrestrial hosts.
"Your world is truly remarkable," Velma said, her voice filled with genuine admiration. "I never imagined we'd have the chance to experience something like this."
Selenite smiled warmly at her. "And we are honored to share it with you. Moldavite is a place of peace and unity, welcoming all beings."
Ruby looked up at Shaggy, her eyes shining with mixed emotions. "I'm thrilled you all came," she said softly. "It means a lot to me and Crystal."
Shaggy reached over and gave Ruby's hand a reassuring squeeze. "We wouldn't have missed it for anything, Ruby. We're a team, remember?"
Ruby smiled back, her heart swelling with gratitude. Despite the challenges they might face, she knew they were surrounded by friends who would stand by her and Crystal no matter what.
The evening sky of Moldavite was filled with the soft glow of its three moons, casting a serene light over the gathering. The gang felt a deep sense of contentment as the meal wound down, knowing they had embarked on an adventure that would forever bond them with their friends from another world.
